Come check out one of the best hikes on the Appalachian Trail and Virginia, McAfee Knob Trail!
Located in Roanoke, Virginia lies one of the most photographed places on the famous Appalachian Trail, McAfee Knob. While I was there, the parking lot was under construction for expansion because the trail is so popular so I had to park a little further down the road. From the official trailhead it is a 3.9 mile hike to Mcafee Knob making it 7.8 miles round trip.
The trail is very well maintained and definitely ranks as a moderate hike just because of the distance.
It is pronounced (Mac-ah-fee) after James McAfee who settled the overlooking Catawba valley in the 1730s. And yes, I know I did not pronounce it that well in the video, please forgive me...
