  • All drone footage is by special permit only. We want to thank Big Bend Ranch State Park for allowing us to film this beautiful and one-of-a-kind place.
We have fallen in love with Big Bend Ranch State Park and wanted to share it with you. In doing so, we wanted to point out that this is not like many of the epic locations in the west where you can camp just anywhere, Big Bend Ranch State Park is a little different, and this video covers that.
All of the 4WD road trail guides and campsite descriptions are on trailsoffroad.com or the Trails Offroad apps.

As a Texan and annual visitor to the area we have long preferred the state park over the national, especially when it comes to pure rugged off-roading. The only complaint that I have with this video is that you're letting the secret out here lol.

BBRSP truly is a national gem. You are lucky to live so close! We hope that more people will have the opportunity to safely and responsibly enjoy this park.

@@IsaacRodriguez89 Both are worth a visit but if rugged, rural, dispersed 4WD travel is what you seek then then BBRSP (state park) is what you seek.

I appreciate the review. I live a stones throw away and I have never been, only because I didn't think it would make for a great trip, obviously I can see why people would travel out there, its amazing! Thanks again, and I'll keep this park in my to do list.

Coming from Colorado where the wheeling is prevalent and considered some of the best in the nation, I found Big Bend Ranch State Park to be absolutely incredible and I cannot wait to return. Make sure you check out Guale Road and Fresno Canyon. Both are beyond spectacular! You are certainly lucky to live so close! - John

Definitely check it out, especially if you love hiking. The Santa Elana trail is stunning, and the Window trail is short, simple but ends with such a gorgeous view. I always find myself back at Big Bend.

We have been to Big Bend National Park, last October. We want to go back and do the State Park, last year we were in a Subaru Outback Wilderness, now we each have a Bronco and it is outfitted for Overlanding! Going to Big Bend in the Subie started us looking for a better off road vehicle, the Subie was just too small, we ended up both getting one, which will work for carrying gear! Thanks for this detailed video! Also Fort Davis, Alpine, and the other small towns around are really neat to visit, there is an amazing pizza place in Alpine! We also ate in Terlingua.

Great video and park rundown with high production values! Appreciate the effort it took to make it. Went with a group for 5 days in Big Bend National Park last November, camping at a site just southwest of Terlingua. Weather was perfect, the night sky incredible, and the park itself an awesome experience. We drove Hwy 170 from Terlingua over to Presidio and back along the southern border of the State park, which had some great views, but didn't have time to do the park itself on that trip. We need to go back down and do it. Thanks for the inspiration!👍

True desert wilderness. The video describes it exactly as it is. As Big Bend becomes more known, this place remains unknown. In one day you can hit crowds at Lost Mine, and then find pure remoteness here. Granted Big Bend NP still has a lot of remote area's. But few visitors to Big Bend NP know about this place.

I go in February as well. Summer is too hot. Last year it was 87 degrees one day and snowing the next. Wear snake gaiters for any hiking. The worst of the worst is called Cats Claw. It looks like a lot of the grey bushes around that don't have thorns on them, then wham they grab you and cut you when you least expect it. It is a fantastic park, but not for everyone. It is as harsh as it gets.

I have been to Big Bend National Park I think 9 times. I have been everywhere in that park, the only thing I have not done is float the river. My bad.
It breaks my heart I'll never get to know this place as well. I'm just too old and broke down to start over here. I camped outside the front gate one time, right on the river, but that is as close as I ever got to the State Park except for driving by it a time or two.

To me, as a native Texan, South Padre, PINS and Big Bend country definitely make the state.
Gives us a touch of southwest Florida and Southern Arizona in the same state. The hill country around Garner and Lost Maples is nice as well, and don't sleep on the huge east texas lakes region set in rolling hills and thick forest. Referring to Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend.
Altogether, I'd say TX is a top 10 state for overall outdoor opportunities and diverse environments.
