Guadalupe Mountains National Park - Hiking the Peak trail

- Guadalupe Peak in Guadalupe Mountains National Park is the highest point in Texas at an elevation of 8,751 feet with views of El Capitan and the Chihuhuan Desert. The trail to hike up to Guadalupe Peak (also known as Signal Peak) is 8.5 miles out and back with an elevation gain of just over 3,000 feet. You can plan your journey up as a day backpacking trip (make sure to plan on six to eight hours) or you can camp in the nearby Pine Springs campground to get a fresh morning start, which is where the trailhead is and where the Pine Springs Visitor Center is located just a short distance away as well. If you do plan to spend a few days here, you can also hike to the Devil’s Hall or to El Capitan itself as well. We went hiking on this trail in December 2018 and cannot speak to the fire that recently occurred here. If you decide to hike this wonderful trail and have time, make sure to visit Big Bend if you can, which is about five hours away, but well worth it.

This is my home state!! I live on the way to big bend in Alpine, Texas ❤️
Right on! We ate at a pretty good restaurant in Alpine on our way from Fort Davis to Big Bend, although I can’t remember the name now. Big Bend is probably our favorite park!
Good hike! Even better with a little bit of snow. 😁
Definitely! The snow was unexpected but memorable lol
Superb capture 24 now keep share best mre
Thank you!
Excellent work guys!!!! Just got scares when you walked in the edge before the peak….
It was definitely a little steep at times!
I loved that hike !
Awesome. What time of year did you do it? We want to do it not in December next go round!
It was in the late fall! I see you have been to Big Bend NP and recommend it highly, i too have been there and absolutely loved the camping and hiking there. Very special place!
@@coldinwaynemaine Yes, we've been to both Big Bend and Guadalupe twice on the same road trip. We came back to do the peak the second go round, and South Rim the second go round in Big Bend. This part of the country is so fascinating and different. Can't get enough of it
Lovely hike, have a great weekend!
Thank you again, you as well!
Hi! Great video. Beautiful footage my friend.
+ lk 25 & kind regards. Stay connected.
Thank you!
The highest peak in Texas! fantastic to see it from home so many thousands of kilometers away. Wonderful scenery 👍
We’d love to hike this again not in the snow 😊
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! Awesome place!
excellent
Thank you 😊
Cheese & beer waiting at the bottom. A Wisconsinite must run the operation. Great stuff!!!
Ahahaha!
What a lovely hike. You guys are such an inspirational. You make us want to hike more.
“It's hard to get out of bed in the morning to go for a run when you're sleeping in silk sheets” - you guys are living it up in paradise! It's hard to suddenly say, yup, I'm going to potentially brutalize myself for a view. LOL
Hi guys. I haven’t commented on one of your videos in a while good to see you made it out west. We’ve been to New Mexico but never to this part thanks for taking us a long
What time of year were you there that there was still snow on the ground? It’s a great view from the top but I’m glad you took us so long and I didn’t have to hike up 3000 feet 😎
@@TooMuchLuggage no worries. We’ve been swamped too. About to hit the road for three weeks. This was in December, hence the snow!
Really cool video! Enjoy your trip!
Thank you! It really was a great hike!
Great video! Thanks for sharing, stunning scenery! We are currently driving through Oregon!
Thank you, and awesome! Love Oregon! Haven’t visited there enough
This is brilliant. 30’ difference in temp between the middle of the trail and start of the trail. It was dry when you start the hike and all of the sudden, ice on the trail.. beautiful view! Amazing video my friends!
Thanks! We really want to see what this looks like not in the winter LOL!
Such an amazing upload as always, my dear friend. I appreciate your effort you put behind all the videos you have created, and this video is extraordinary! You have really done a good job in all of your videos , they are really superb, keep inspiring 💚 Fully watched!
Thank you! Glad you have enjoyed! Do you have any favorites so far? 😀
Love Texas, haven't spent enough time there to really explore. Hard to believe they get snow in Texas 😳 Great looking views there at the top!
So much to do in Texas! We've been a few times and will be again in less than a week!
Enjoyed the Peak with a decent amount of snow on trail. Thanks for posting. Also, not criticizing, just point out, I believe you meant to say "East of El Paso" instead of West.
Thanks! It was definitely interesting with the snow. Also, if I had a dollar for every time we confused cardinal directions … 😝😝😝
I wanted to go when I was in the area but ran out of time haha
It’s definitely worth it. The first time we came to the park we only did the Devils Hall hike because we didn’t have time for the peak hike.
Ha! Loved it there! Felt great at the pyramid at the top. It was memorable as I had a tent mishap at the end and the night was a bit of a mess but a great trip. I have the same picture of the bridge. I named it something but can’t remember. I named it after the graffiti name on the handrail. :)
Oh my! I just watched my video. It was with my ex wife ant I don’t watch it frequently. It was 7 years ago! I’ll have to go again! Ryan’s bridge. That’s what I called it.

The tent mishap is way at the end if you watch. :)
Oh you camped up there? I didn’t know that was possible. Awesome. And yes that feeling at the pyramid is the best. An incredible view
@@MagellanandGreyhound yeppers! Even in a busted tent with the roof in my face! :)
Sorry just seeing this. I’ll check it out. Anyone who links anything gets filtered as spam so I have to check sometimes. 🤣
Hi Magellan and Greyhound, if you don't mind me asking, what time of year did you hike the peak and encounter snow?
Don’t mind at all. It was the middle of December. Bottom was nice and warm. Top was … not. 😆
