Jimmy had the double neck guitar made just so he could play Stairway To Heaven live. The song includes sections played on a 12-string guitar and a 6-string guitar so the double neck has a 12-string neck on top and 6-string neck on the bottom.

The much-rumored reunion of Led Zeppelin has hit another stumbling block: Robert Plant. According to a report from the UK's Daily Mirror, the legendary lead singer just turned down an $800 million offer to put together a Led Zeppelin reunion. And let's face it, without Plant, there is no Zeppelin. According to sources, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the band's late drummer, John, were all in.
Yeah the last time I heard robert plant sing I felt sorry for him he had the desire but not the ability and I am heavily on Auto-Tune just didn't sound the same

Jimmy is a self-taught guitarist. When Jimmy was a very young man, his family moved from their house to another house. When they arrived, a guitar was found in the new house that was left behind by the previous owner. Eventually, Jimmy learned to play, and re-wrote the history of rock music.

Thanks for the reaction. When you said that you wish you were friends with Robert Plant, (the lead vocalist), so he could sing to you when you were sad was honestly the cutest thing I’ve ever heard on a reaction ever. Anyways, if you were impressed with Robert’s voice on that video, you need to hear his earlier stuff. This show was from 1973, and Robert’s voice was already shot by that time. You need to hear his voice on the recordings from 1969 through 1972. The double necked guitar that Jimmy Page is playing is used on songs where he needs to play a 12 string guitar and a regular 6 string guitar on the same song, so he doesn’t have to switch guitars in the middle of the song. Other songs you need to listen and react to are dazed and confused, whole lotta love, immigrant song, since I’ve been loving you, black dog, no quarter, the rain song, Kashmir, in my time of dying, and Achilles last stand. All great songs.

Please...always wait until the very end of every Zep Song before reacting. Sometimes they fade out to whisper, then fade back in.
    That's a double-neck guitar, 6 strings below and 12 up top.
That has 6 double sets of identical note strings. It produces a concert hall kind of ring that makes for an extra spark of delight with each pick or stroke of a note.
And those riffs by Jimmy Page for his crescendos makes for the GREATEST GUITAR SOLO OF ALL TIME! It isn't just that Jimmy is one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived, it's the fact that he created so many brilliant compositions. It that sense, he is a a TRUE GENIUS. Not just a gifted musician, but an amazing mind and imagination that produced so many classic songs that stand the test of time. His legacy now belongs to the Ages, to be enjoyed for many Generations to come!
Proud to say I've been a Led Zeppelin fan since their 1st album was released.
I knew I was listening to the best Band in the World back then.
And I am so excited and enthused by all the young folks getting into this music as fresh as it was for me in 1968!

Honest question for ya. Did you really like that solo?

@Jeffrey Hinkel I think it's the greatest rock guitar solo ever
What, not 'Maybe I'm Amazed' by Wings?
Well, personal taste is what it's all about. It obviously does it for you, and that's cool.
Personally, I remember my disappointment the first time I heard Page playing solos live, including Stairway. Stairway is such a masterful solo, which i've just never heard him do justice live. Monster guitar player, though.

I'm a Page fan and a guitarist. I have heard some of his live solos that were very sloppy, but this one is pure genius. Sloppy is part of his thing though. Some people can't handle that - they like technical perfection. But Jimmy is a true artist, exploring the bounds of his ideas, and often crashing on the wave. However he would never reach the places he reaches if he wasn't exploring like he does. Most guitarists can't reach those places.

    • @jamesrawlings5781
      @jamesrawlings5781 3 роки тому

@@glass2467 "Sloppy is part of his thing though. Some people can't handle that - they like technical perfection."
I don't find him sloppy at all on record - I just often find he loses the plot live.
I certainly don't require 'technical perfection', and players that many consider technically superior, like Blackmore, Beck and Lee, don't do that much for me next to JP.
"But Jimmy is a true artist, exploring the bounds of his ideas, and often crashing on the wave. However he would never reach the places he reaches if he wasn't exploring like he does. Most guitarists can't reach those places."
I'm afraid phrases like 'true artist' don't really mean much to me. People say it about people they like, and don't say it about people they don't like so much. It doesn't really mean anything. I don't think 'exploring the bounds of his ideas' has as much to do with my disappointment at his live playing so much as him being twatted on drugs.
I mean - come on! Exploring the bounds of his ideas? He's a guitarist - his ideas stretch to 'play that note/chord or don't'; 'try it in a different time signature, or don't'; 'use a bit more reverb, or don't'.
I would argue that his 'ideas' were explored most creatively and effectively in the studio: live he sometimes just couldn't do them justice.
But each to his or her own.

I’d suggest listening to “Rock n Roll” which highlights Bohnams incredible talent as a drummer and “Dazed and Confused” in which Jones delivers one of the coolest baselines ever.

When watching this I`m reminded how many legendary guitarists there were between 1970 and 1990 and they are more or less alone up there even in 2020. What really happened? Why didn`t the 90s keep feeding us with awesome guitarists? Some few showed up, like Tom Morello, Matt Bellamy (Muse) and John Frusciante (RHCP) even though John debuted in 1989 on Mothers Milk he still hadn`t found his unique and simple style that makes him a legend. But something happened and people stopped learning how to create their own sound on the guitars in the 90s. It was all about retro from there on and it has`nt stopped. In 2000, when the alternative rock scene was dead and people had grown tired of depressive and difficult rock, pop and electronic dance music exploded. Not so weird really as the millennials wanted to dance and have fun, not sit around moping and being emo like Gen X was LOL. I guess there were some years between 99-09 it was natural for guitarists having a hard time, but now 20 years later, why aren`t there any new ones coming? WE ARE WAIITIIING.

Robert Plant was 25 in 1973 when this was recorded. If you enjoyed this Zeppelin cover of a Blues Classic I would suggest listening to their cover of the Blues classic “When The Levee Breaks” by Kansas City Joe and Memphis Minnie published in 1929.
And Yes Jimmy Page is one of the all time great guitarist ever. Damn few are as good and none better. He’s right up their with BB King and Eric Clapton.

Hi. I really like you and your comments and I'm glad you are into the legends that are Led Zeppelin :) You were heading for a 9/10 or even 10/10 but then you broke "The Golden Rule" of Rock Music especially if we are talking about guitarists like Jimmy Page here and that NO-ONE EVER interrupts a guitar solo because it builds and gains momentum and you lose the feel and continuity and flow if you do that.....and you did it twice initially and, coincidentally, the 3rd time was right at the end of it so, I know you have to pause for Copyright but not during guitar solos in Rock..haha......Good Luck....you will do well...............:)

‘Look at his thing”. Your so funny Niah. When I was a young man I always thought that was what made Robert Plant so cool and Zeppelin so cool. They were 70’s to core and they were literally a band like no other.

The guitar is called a double-neck guitar. One neck is a 6 string. The other neck is a 12 string. Each has a different sound. Parts of the song use a 12 string, and others a 6 string. That's why Jimmy Page, the guitarist uses a double-check guitar for this song. Robert Plant is the singer. John Henry Bonham is the drummer. And, John Paul Jones is the base player.

Wow! I love your reaction to this song. Your observations on Robert Plant, the singer and Jimmy Page the guitarist are right on. Keep in mind this performance was from 1973! LZ is the GOAT. All of the members of the band are the GOAT for their instrument. Led Zeppelin has a huge, diverse catalog from rock to blues to funk to folk to psychedelic. The studio recordings show their musicianship and production talent. BUT THE LIVE SHOWS show that PLUS their incredible improvisation ability. No song is performed the same from concert to concert. I always suggest new LZ listeners do the studio version of a song first then find a live performance if one is available. But to go against my own advice - this song has to be appreciated live - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to Since I've Been Loving You from this same concert. IT WILL TAKE YOU ON A JOURNEY ua-cam.com/video/1gHlbHtdVLU/v-deo.html There's a little backstage stuff at the beginning but goes quickly into the song. I'm really hoping you'll explore LZ further. I'm going to subscribe based on that hope.😉
