This is why us old dudes watch reaction channels, after hearing these songs hundred of times we forget just how amazing these songs are and watching someone listen to them for the 1st time reminds us of how blown away we were when we 1st heard them. The magic and wonder of it all is returned to us.
Led Zeppelin was one of the premiere groups of the late 60's - 70's. Jimmy Page is one of the top guitarists of all time. The musical ability of bands in this era was out of this world. No computer generated stuff, no auto tuners, nothing but pure talent. It was a great time to be alive and see it all unfold.
The best way to do Zeppelin for the first time is to begin at the start, and listen to every song on every studio album, one after another, track by track, from 1969 to 1982. You will thank me. They simply don't have a bad song, and experiencing their musical evolution is incredible. Led Zeppelin was the best of the best.
Jimmy Page(the guitar player) does not need the double neck guitar to go off. Check out " Since I've Been Lovin' You" live, from the same concert, Madison Square Garden, 1973, what he does with his Gibson Les Paul is incredible.!
If you think Jimmy Page gave a great performance with this song, he shines even brighter in "Dazed and Confused", from this very same concert, it's a 28 minute song that will leave you even more speechless than this song.
That's not really accurate. I saw a video that showed Jimmy Page wrote 3 different solos for Stairway and he had to decide which one he liked best. When they went on tour they would improvise a lot to change things up.
Dude do Zep from the first song, on the first album, and work your way through them all. They will make you a fan for life! The Goats of Goats😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Okay, so here’s the deal with the double-neck guitar and why Jimmy Page used it. It was not about ‘being able to wail during a guitar solo,’ which he could have done (and often did) just as easily with a standard electric guitar. The studio version of Stairway used several different layers of guitar. During the middle of it, Page switches to an acoustic 12-string guitar, which changes the sound/texture of the guitar part (from what the 6-string acoustic sounds like earlier). It gives this nice, full sound to that middle section. Then he switches to a 6-string electric for the solo/end of the song. Page wanted to be able to carry over those changes in sound and dynamics-a key part of the magic of this song-to live performances, but obviously didn’t have the luxury of switching back and forth between guitars a couple of times mid-song. The double-neck guitar allowed him to reasonably accomplish the same thing. He simply switched back and forth between the 6-string vs. 12 neck as he needed to. It’s not about needing a double-neck guitar to ‘wail,’ but about using it to quickly change the tone of the guitar mid-song without disrupting the flow of the performance. In the studio, LZ tended to layer sound and play with dynamics a lot in the studio (where Jimmy Page was a master), so the double-neck guitar was very useful live.
I'm 70 years old, what I want to know is how after listening to Stairway to Heaven, 100's of times, how in the world do I still get goosebumps. Love your reaction, thanks for giving LZ a try.
Man, that was so much fun! This is the GREATEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME. All four were otherworldly in their talent and story telling and musical talent. Thank you for that!
My man, you have just been introduced to and anointed by Led Zeppelin, the God's of Rock!!! I am 62 and this is my all time favorite band, nobody has ever nor ever will be close or possess the talent contained by these 4 men!!! ENJOY!!!
The most inconspicuous band member is John Paul Jones in the background playing the recorder sounds on the mellotron (which most people think is a flute) and the bass guitar at the same time with his feet.
This is a great song, and an excellent example of progressive rock. Led Zeppelin was the most creative and versatile rock band in history. I recommend a deeper dive into their catalogue to understand and appreciate that. One suggestion, if I may. Listen to studio versions first, then live. The guys loved to improvise during live performances and the only way to appreciate how incredible that was, as well as Page's genius in the studio, is to hear songs as they were originally recorded. As for Page's double-neck guitar, when they recorded this song, he played both 6-string and 12-string acoustic guitars, as well as an electric guitar for the solo. Since he couldn’t switch between three guitars for one song during a live performance, he had a double-neck guitar made for him to "give it [Stairway to Heaven] any justice” during live performances. Edit: Page doesn't need a double-neck to "go off". He does an excellent job of consistently doing just that, most often with a single neck because he always "meant business". They all did because individually, they were the best of the best, and as a band, they were entirely on the same wave length.
You just witnessed rock royalty therefore you are never aloud to call any of them dude again. Robert Plant vocals, Jimmy Page guitar, John Bonham drums, and John Paul Jones bass and keyboards
I heard this song for the first time at 14 years old. I'm now in my 50s. I love seeing young people react to it. I must say, this is my favorite reaction so far. You get it kid. You felt it, as did I.
Because Led Zeppelin refused to release any songs as singles from any of their albums they lost out on any chance of billboard love. Having written that, they had complete creative control. From the albums to the concerts Zeppelin were the band that took the biggest $$$ not playing by the mainstream rules. That was Jimmy Page the guitarist, Peter Grant their manager and Peter Cole their tour manager. No opening acts and 3 and a half almost 4 hour shows from the mighty Zeppelin. I love your channel and your reactions.
Saw them twice (1975 & 1977). Their presence was so powerful. You could hardly believe it was them up there but you knew because you heard magic going on. Never forget it. I've always considered Jimmy's solo's to be one long solo from the first song to the last. Everything he plays is a solo to me.
Led Zeppelin Robert Plant...vocals/harmonica Jimmy Page...guitar/Theramin John Bonham...drums John Paul Jones...bass/keyboards/mandolin/banjo/and anything else!! Truly the 4 most talented musicians to ever come together! Try The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song together live at MSG in 1973 (this same concert)!!
Love JPJ's Mandolin solo on Going To California. One of the less recognised members of Zep. It is rumoured that he was playing the bass with his foot during the keyboard(melotron intro) Don't know if this is true, but he could play anything.
BEST BAND EVER! ALL GOATS! Jimmy Page, founder...genius. They challenged the way musicians were paid, the industry. Amazing band and so beloved worldwide.
That there young fella, is one of the greatest - if not the greatest- live guitar solo's in the history of Rock and Roll! I loved watching your reaction to it because it took me back to when I was a young lad in the early 70's and how I was utterly blown away by it just as you are a half a century on. Keep up the good work, young sir!
Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Since Ive been loving you, just to start. Soo many more. Extreme talent! Singer- Robert plant, great guitarist-Jimmy Page, Bass-Keyboards-John Paul Jones, Drums- John Bonham (RIP). Enjoy !
I wish we were seeing it on your TV screen, instead of barely seeing it. The TV screen being on is a big distraction, even though it’s a pic of Led Zeppelin. Every song these guys did is absolutely amazing, you can’t go wrong with any of them.
This is one of the main 'entry' songs into enjoying Zep. They have so many songs that are just monumental, if you enjoyed this one, they have literally dozens of others that you'd also enjoy.
This is what happens to someone who has never seen this iconic Jimmy page riff and when he sees it he gets static and in a quick way he already starts to like the Led Zeppelin monsters. Since you're only seeing a small part of what Jimmy page does with the guitar
You will have never heard music like this was a very innovative band each a virtuoso in their craft just a herd of goats here you can't stop now or you will miss some of the greatest music you will ever hear

I suppose you should understand... Led Zeppelin released almost no singles. They rarely if ever appeared on television. If you wanted to hear them you had to buy the albums. If you wanted to see them you had to buy a show ticket. They toured relentlessly for a decade, ending with the untimely death of the drummer John Bonham.

Far from their craziest song. They were Blues greats, but touched on a bunch of genre. If you listen to Hip Hop then you should listen to When The Levee Breaks and you pay attention to the drums you'll hear what is probably the most used drum track in Hip Hop. Oh, lead guitarist Jimmy Page plays guitar on a P Diddy track.
Welcome to the World :) Good luck on your channel. You should do "Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You (Live at Madison Square Garden 1973) [Official Video]" next. A good one to do if your just starting... promise :)

simple remedy for your problem - react to them more often !! i also think the best way is track by track starting with the first album and including some live perfomances . This is not a band with just a few good, famous songs . Also you will want to try Pink Floyd you might as well start with Comfortably Numb live at the Pulse concert.
The Beastie Boys sampled more Led Zeppelin and John Bonham (drummer) beats than anyone. History is crazy amazing as you learn things. Jimmy the guitarist already knew the bass / keyboard player from before and was looking for a certain singer who turned them down but suggested they check out Robert Plant, who in turn knew John Bonham (that nobody wanted because he played to LOUD) - and was friends with Bill Ward the drummer from Black Sabbath who knew Toni the guitarist. They were looking for a singer...Ozzy wanted to try out but since he was in the same school as Toni and Toni never knew of Ozzy to be a singer they blew it off....then Ozzy showed up with Geezer lookin for a drummer and they all decided to give it a go finally. Five min into the first song they knew they had a band! Crazy fate

Welcome to the greatest band ever!
Crazy fate
Mind blowing and soul stirring to the extreme
