Songs I've heard a thousand times and videos I've seen hundreds. And now I get to see someone again see the greatest band new to them. My newest obsession is to watch younger people view my generations music.
I was born in ‘78 so I was an 80’s/early 90’s kid/early teen. So I had my generations 80’s music. But, I grew up listening to my dad blaring Zeppelin, Joplin, Hendrix, Beatles etc. I became a huge HUGE Led Zeppelin fan because of that
I love Led Zeppelin. My favorite band ever. Robert Plant was 25 and Jimmy Page was 29. He’s my favorite guitarist of all time. I just love him and he loved playing his guitar.
Those that disliked should reflect on why they can't feel the emotion of this song and be compelled as Humans to relate and therefore enjoy it. It may help them with the rest of their existence.
As a guitarist I can tell you ... there is "playing" since I've been loving you and then there is "PLAYING" since I've been loving you. We all play it ,Jimmy Page PLAYS it. The passion you hear when he does it will never be matched and add Plants voice to that guitar you may as well make your O face . Nothing beats Zeppelin.
Goodness knows I've been trying to sound like Page for years now. If I ever get there, I'll be sure and let you know. Ahem, not bloody likely my friend. As much as I wish it were.
Zeppelin--like so many other British rockers--were understandably enamored with American Blues music. This song is one of the most obvious examples of their love for the Blues. It has been said that Zeppelin were the 4 right people, who met at the right time. Page was a brilliant guitarist who had very distinct ideas about the band he wanted to form and the music he wanted to make. John Paul Jones was a totally underrated bassist and keyboardist--a seasoned session musician who was responsible for many of Zeppelin's greatest songs. John Bonham was the man who literally set the pace for the band, the drummer who was Zeppelin's "secret rhythm weapon", as one music writer once put it. And Robert Plant was the "Golden God"--the primal rock frontman who made all the women a bit crazy. Awesome reaction, Niah.
Robert Plant was born in 1948, and the song is from 1970 But I think this live concert is from 1973 - so that would make him about 25 years old at the time the video was recorded
I think it is one of the greatest tragic love songs that was ever performed before. So much feel. Gets me every time. Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones and John Bonham were so dynamic. They knew how to mess with the listener’s ear.
Plant was 24 here. If you listen to the '69 bootlegs, you can hear his confidence mature as the months progress. The '69 shows are my favorite as a narrative of a band coalescing into what you are watching in this video filmed four years later.
I was lucky enough to have seen Led Zeppelin perform this at Madison Square Garden, and it was one of the greatest shows ever. I'm glad you can appreciate them. Dazed and Confused, and No Quarter are also great songs from that live concert. You can't really go wrong with any of their songs! Other songs you should try: Here Come The Tears, and Beyond The Realms Of Death by Judas Priest.
Great reaction. Led Zeppelin music is the soundtrack of my life. I find that my favorite Led Zeppelin song is always the one that is currently playing, which ever song it is. There really are no bad ones in my opinion. You could pick any song and you won’t be disappointed.
