I don't have many regrets, but not seeing Zeppelin at that concert, right down in front, is a big regret now.
Whole Lotta Love rocked my world as a 13 year old-- my neighbor played Led Zeppelin all summer while he washed & waxed his car...the 70s were the absolute best
Heart "Stairway To Heaven" Kennedy Center Honors It's WAY more fun if you know who Heart is, that John's 🥁 son Jason honors his Dad (RIP) by playing drums, & that's the remaining 3 members of Led Zepplin John Paul, Robert, & Jimmy are watching fron the balcony.
Oh yes, Sister ! These guys were our rock gods , love gods ! Even our boyfriends wanted them. ( pretty sure ) haha. I got to see them three times. I was into blues and these guys along with Janis took the blues to rock school. It's fun to see you diggin' them for the first time.
I think Pages guitar thru out the song is as good or better than the solo. Especially in the beginning. His picking is impeccable. The sound is clear and leaves no room to hide in. I've said when I saw them the first time in 75 that he plays one long solo from the beginning to the end. Loved watching with you.
He's certainly an alright looking lad, isn't he? Also - they are standing so close together for the main part of the song, cos I suppose they need to see the visual cues/looks to get an idea of the changes (much quicker than listening to what's in your monitor on stage). They were a jam band live, and it's why every live bootleg is so precious; magical.
Jone Paul Jones and Jon Bonham were so in sync that Robert and Jimmy could just jam out as they wanted. I reckon they could've done it blindfolded but well noted.
You just witnessed the original gods of rock. Robert Plant was THE Golden God of Rock, Jimmy Page THE Master Magician of Sound. John Paul Jones the heart and soul of rock and roll and John Bonham THE real God of Thunder. lol I first heard them in 1970 and there has not been two days in a row since that i have not listened them. 52 years after its release on their 4th album, singer Robert Plant is now actually reluctant to perform the piece, as it no longer reflects the person he is or the outlook he has in later life. Which is curious, because he has no such problem with pieces which are slightly older (their back catalogue pretty much starts in 1968). Or perhaps he's just reacting - as guitar shop owners everywhere do when they hear someone play the opening chords - to the song's sheer over-exposure. Like a lot of classical music, it's almost too familiar to listen to.
