I intentionally left a lot of extra information out of this video. The Sin War, Uldyssian and a great deal of Nephalem lore. This video was never meant to recap the entire history of Diablo, just a guiding tool to get people into the story and the games. If I wanted to cover the entire backstory, this video would've been 4 times as long. Even though the books are really well-written and interesting, a lot of the information within them are not necessary to enjoy the games.
I hope this helps clarify my reasoning for cutting these stories.
Thank you for watching the video :)
I feel you should have mentioned a little bit more about the origins of the Horadrim, and Tyreal gifting the Horadrim the Soul stones to help capture the Prime Evils. It seems a bit rushed that part like the Horadrim just randomly appeared lol. But everything else is well explained.
Who cares how long it takes? I’d much rather have videos like this populating youtube isntead of the kendall jenners of the world
Played Diablo 1&2 back in the day, although I was older than 6 at the time, and just finished the Diablo IV Beta before the release planned for June 2023. I never really paid much attention to the lore at the time, but after chatting with some folks on Discord today I decided to learn a little about the lore...not too deep, but enough to understand the gist of it and be able to understand some of the chat posts a little better. This first video sets it up well so nice job there - simple and easy to understand without going too deep. Anyway, I plan to watch them all tonight.
I see you've put tremendous effort in making these video series... Thanks for sharing knowledge. Awesome. Good voice, well explained, compact story.
+storkization Thank you very much :D
Really cool idea for a series and very well executed! Using pictures of characters as you're talking about them makes it easier to follow.
very well done my friend. i do so hope this series continues. keep up the great work.
As a lore junkie, I enjoyed this video immensely and I can not wait to hear more. Keep up the awesome work!
as a regular junkie, i really need to stop listening to videos about demons.
Även om du inte lägger upp fler filmer så ofta, så är detta lätt den bästa diablo-serie summeringen ever. Superfint!
I read the book containing this information this summer, and I must say that you did a really good job recaping the whole thing :-D
Keep it up ^^

Here you go :-D
My man just listened to all of your Diablo series awesome man, really enjoyed them as these three games are my favorite games ever also share your aggravation with Cains death
Thank you man, wonderful! lots of effort put in
These videos are great. I was thinking about picking up Diablo 3 on the Switch and I had never even touched a Diablo title so this will be quite handy. Thank you.
Izual did not join Hell, he lead an ill-advised attack on Hell and was captured and tortured into revealing the secrets of Heaven and the soulstones. He was a fallen angel not trusted by Heaven or Hell which results in Tyreal telling the hero to destroy him.
This is really helpful, Chrane, thanks so much!
I have watched lore videos for League of Legends and World of Warcraft and now I will start with Diablo, as a lover of all of these games, I always enjoy finding out more about the story itself and the characters that make them, this is truly a great video.
I do also enjoy how all the people that make lore videos, to me, always have an awesome accent.
Thank you for these videos. I haven't played a Diablo game since Diablo 2, but I plan on getting into Diablo 3 when the next season begins. This is exactly what I was looking for.
I love the Diablo franchise and your Diablo Lore videos give better insight of the games. I love the story. I just can't wait until Diablo 4 comes out. I subbed to your channel, I am also a gamer myself :)
Awesome video! Thanks for explaining!
UPDATE: I've been sick for an entire week now, even lost my voice for 3 days. But Part 2 will probably be out saturday or sunday this week! (Depending on how stuffy my nose is)
Chrane do a smaller detail videos for more iconic characters and smaller ones for more content
Thx for making the video! Very helpful for newbies!
Great great job, thanks! Straight to the point!
4:30 can we pause for a moment here: how are the prime evils banished (by the four lesser evils) into sanctuary, the place created to be free of the eternal conflict? surely inarius went to some length in order to prevent those outside from entering?
Very helpful thanks. I just got into the Diablo II Resurrected Tech Alpha so I'm catching up on some lore!
I played alot of D2 and some D1 and still didn't knew few of those facts. Thanks and good video (nice calm voice :) ) .
know*
Very well done. Thanks for making this. What is your timetable for the others?
+Stan Landers Thank you :) I will try to release at least one per week. They may come out sooner than that, but who knows
thanks for this man! i have never played a diablo game before until yesterday downloaded diablo immortals and im hooked !! new to the channel by the way
The Tristram song is a blast from the past. Serenity defined.
This was great! On to the next videos :D
I would pay good money for that pre-qual. Very good work on the presentation and facts, everything fits well with everything I know about the game, which isn't much.
Thank you for splitting it up. I'm playing 3 now and didnt want to spoil it.
Thanks for sharing man! Great info!
Nice video. Now you made me want to watch a walkthrough movie for the first Diablo game.
Diablo is also my favorite among games! Thank you for this videos about the lore!
"But...The more you know.." *Bling bling bling bliiiiiing~*
Thank you so much for the series! It is really great to learn much more, from one of my favorite childhood gameseries!
Excellent series; Diablo I is my most favourite game of all time!
Very very nice video big TY!! Your story telling is also great! it is a big shame for me to learn all this 24 years after the release but still better than never lol
Saw it on reddit, watched the video, loved it.
Keep it up!
+AspersorTroll Thank you, I will! :D
which sub?
Can you describe more about Anuriel, Lilith, and her “husband?” With the new D4 coming out or will you have to wait to play the game to understand the story?
I will look into making a video covering their stories, but I can't make a full "Diablo 4 Lore" video until the game is out. However, there will be a bunch of other lore until then.
we need more of these types of videos Chrane!
I am a lore fanatic and ur lore videos has been the best ones ive found about these fantastic games!
Hey, thanks for doing these! I just started playing Diablo 3 and thought the gameplay was fun but I felt like I was missing the whole story prior to it. This makes it so that I don't have to do so much research, which is always a good thing. I'll probably forget all of these names now though... *sigh* Thanks anaways!
Haha, yeah I should probably have put up nameplates or something like that to help with the names as well. There are so many of them. Thank you for watching and enjoy the game!
About to dive in and watch all your story videos B)
tal rasha photo in d2 cinematic when hes tied to the wall and the wanderer convinces marius to release him..
Love the lore!
Mind Blown... Cheers Brah!
just got back playing diablo and picked up diablo 3. great to remember all the story that i forgot years ago.
Thanks for this!
good work love this :) you are great
This is really good.. Glad I found it... Just got a buddy of mine into the game... And this will help him understand the lore.... Not as detailed as I'd like... But still fairly detailed..
Thanks for doing this. :)
nice, most of it knew, except the prime evils plan, but still very good to hear again, when comes the part 2 m8?
+moscapt69 Thanks for checking it out :)
The plan is to have at least one video each week, as I'm currently in school and exams are coming up fast. But the scripts for Part 2 and 3 are done, all I need to do is get started on recording it :)
thanks for this!
i love these videos
Awesome! Installing D3 cuz of this! ♥
Can you do bonus videos for the Hellfire expansion and The Black Road book?
Wish i found tgis sooner, just got a huge urge to play Diablo again. As in the original!
Great job
great video :)
I fucking love Diablo lore.
A little hard to follow at times due to similar names
But after watching it a few times I finally realized those that created the humans were not of the prime evils or prime angels.
Gotta have a map and reference point for Diablo lore
So cool, only played diablo 3 & never completed it yet & with diablo 2 ressurection coming & diablo 4 eventually, i have alot to catch up on
Dude, this made want to play the games do much. I can't wait for diablo's 2 remake
Amazing thank you. In which game does the dark exile, and the “rope a dope” the Prime Evils pulled on the Lesser Evils, explained?
Thanks dude ranch
I love this.
Do you have a video on how the soulstones function as it seems to me that they vary in function between the games and if not could you make a video on them?
until 3:20 it sounds like only the renegate angles with Inarius got into Pandemonium. Then suddently its the renegate angles and demons. Have you skiped something there?
amazing
This is a fun story
They need to make a full game that let you play through it all including this pre-part....
It does not need to be one character but many through the ages...
Or one who plays through the last game but get to experience the important past parts
This lore video is the only one worth watching
Thank you!
Put that on my gravestone.
You sir are very under subbed. You deserve more subs
Diablo 2 is ❤
You left a few things out about the nephalem.
They powers didn't vanish over time. After the first generation of nephalem were born Lilith wanted to use them as her slaves, being the daughter of Mephisto, she etried to create an army. The renegade angels and demons did not agree with her so she slaughtered all of them. Inarius banished her to the Void while their chgildren, with the leadership of Rathma rebelled. Inarius' reaction to this was to tune the Worldstone and create humanity as we know them today. Rathma went into hiding while retaining his nephalem powers alongside the first generation of nephalem which included Bul-Kathos, the first Immortal King of the barbarians. After Lilith found her way back into Sanctuary she reawakened the powers of the nephalem in a single human. Uldyssian ul-Diomed. He had the ability to spread the powers of the nephalem and later abandoned Lilith to start a war against her brother, the demon Lucion and her former lover, Inarius. Rathma has taken an interest in ul-diomed's brother, known at the time as Mendeln ul-Diomed and started to train him in the ways of the necromancers. After a bloody war through which Uldyssian brought low both children of Mephisto and defeated Diablo himself, he finally defeated Inarius and severed his connection to the Worldstone. In this war he led an army of nephalem called edyrem and allied himself with the first nephalem generation. The forces of the High Heavens were oblivious towards the existence of Sanctuary until one point in the war where Tyrael discovered it and wanted to cleanse it of all life, now were invading. After defeating Inarius, Uldyssian released a massive wave of power which routed the Host of the Heavens and the Legions of the Burning Hells (which now were invading as well) but it threatened to desrtoy Sanctuary so he called bakc all that power into his own body and released it into a plain that was clear of life but died in the process. Only after that did the Angiris Council agree to leave the humans be. And it wasn't only Mephisto who made an agreement with them, he was representing his other brothers.
Damn, I diidn't notice I wrote this much.... and all without any research!
He left a lot of stuff out. His was more of a short recounting than a detailed explanation.
Also he forgot to mention that the Prime Evils established the Triune religion so as to lure the nephalems to their cause in the early stages of the Sin War.
source?
Wow this is great
Perfect, Thumbs up :)
Im the 1000th subscriber :D
Thanks for the knowldge
cool story bro
Cheers
I got lost when the Soulstones get mentioned for the first time, as created by Tyrael, but there's no explanation as to what where they for? So the Prime Evils masterminded their own exile so that they could gain access to the Soulstones and then eventually control the Worldstone? But the Soulstones kept them imprisoned? So they wanted to get stones that imprisoned them? And then why would Baal shatter his Soulstone? Dont they need all the stones to control the Worldstone? Some things dont make sense.
Good video ! They should make a diablo film or even better a diablo Netflix series !👍🏼😍
I would love some sort of animated Netflix series. Castlevania is a great example of how to do it right. It can be done.
0:50 - that how you say "body" with extra sass
I thought Mount Arreat was built around the worldstone and the Pandamonium (sp) Fortress was just an outpost of Heaven before a mortal could enter Hell. Then he asked the Barbarians to guard it and put the Ancients on the plateau to guard.
There's a LOT more. But I couldn't have concised it better.
Cool.
oh you forgot to mention in this episode that Tyreal created the soulstones and gifted it to the Horadrim to capture and contain the Prime Evils
Izual didn't "leave" the High Heavens for the Burning Hells. It's much more complicated than that.
Finally i understand goddamn ;-; so much time asking myself why this and why that lmao xD
holy shit the first being of both diablo and elder scrolls is 'anu' which makes sense i guess but still cool as they're my 2 favorite game series.
Prince of Pain for Duriel, actually.
Common misstake, they didnt lose to the lesser evils. They lost on purpous
So how did the council and the greater evils discovery sanctuary after it was hidden from them?
Very charismatic voice and well described information ty a lot for that , its funny how some people here are jealous of your voice and try to comment some crappy statements.... good luck mate , i subscribed!
Thank you very much!
Honestly I'm more shocked by all the positive reactions to my voice.
Like most people, I feel awkward listening back to my own voice.
All the nice comments I've been getting about it really makes me feel more comfortable, so I appreciate every word :)
@@itsChrane awesome!!! Please make more diablo stuff , I would like to get more diablo 4 videos from you! I'm a big fan of world of warcraft too could be awesome to make videos about all of wow story from scratch , just an idea...
i still playig the game 1 and 2 in nowanadays i just cant get boer out with it.( i think the game is mutch better then all the modern RPG's or maybe im just in to Calasic games)
Izual did not left to join the burning hells. He was captured and Mephisto twisted him into becoming a demon.
Malthael is the leader? I thought it was Imperious?
A lot of people forget that inarius was an archangel but i could be wrong
I read all the books on diablo and some of your information is incorrect... for example the nepheling didn't grow weaker, it was the other way around. They grew strong so strong that when the angel discover about them they saw them as a threat and the demons saw them as weapon to use against angel.
There is entite story behind how powerful the nepheling where, at the of it the world stone was use to suppress there power and that's how they became humans
What's the name of the song/songs?
Where is the lady from Daiblo 4?
Dureil is the Prince of Pain
Good video with one minor nitpick, it's Baal, not Bale.
I know this is easy to confuse, since Bale is also a great evil. :D
Wait, where did I type it out as "Bale"?
@@itsChrane Sorry, to confuse you, nowhere! :D
It just sounds that way, but I think I recall one of the voice actors pronouncing it that way, too. Baal is actally a taken from mythology, short for Baalzebul and it's pronounced more like the a in Diablo, just longer. That's why I was hearing Bale. :D
Oh I see what happend. I've been thinking about this for a while as well, but every time his name is mentioned in the games they pronounce it as "Bale".
To be fair, the games aren't set in our world, and just based on our stories, so I guess they can pronounce them any way they want haha.
I've been pronouncing it "Bale", just like the game, since I was a kid (I learned to speak english by playing Diablo) and I probably will keep saying it like this, until the games slap me in the face over it haha :)
@@itsChrane Yeah, it's totally ok. :D I later recalled that at least one voice actor in the game pronounced it that way too in the english version but since the word is somewhere from the middle east originally it's pronounciation is sure diffent. But the character is from the USA, so it's "Bale" in the game, so to speak. :D
But if you think about it, when those words written differently sound alike, it's more a phonetic problem of the language itself.
I learned a lot of english from the first Diablo too, when I was a kid! :D It's just a great academic tool, can give a kid nightmares, but it's still worth it. :D
Keep on with your videos, I really enjoyed your Diablo Lore series!
Those walls of text, spelling out doom, sure taught a lot of kids how to read haha
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the videos :D
question: the prime evils wanted the dark exile to corrupt the soulstones, but until they were exiled, there were no soulstones, right? they were developed to imprison the prime evils. that's why they could not have known about the stones?
i know i'm making a mistake somewhere, but cant find it
+zsedz the soulstones were already created, and the Horadrim were waiting for the right moment to use them. Tyrael's former lieutenant, Izual, told the Prime Evils of the soulstones' existence, and after that they manipulated Azmodan and Belial into initiating the Dark Exile
+Chrane thx for the response !
but why were the soulstones created? the horadrim had nothing to catch it with. the prime evils were not on sanctuary yet.
great videos btw ! like !
The soulstones were created because Tyrael and the Horadrim feared the Prime Evils, and they had them ready for a long time, waiting for the right moment to use them. When they were banished to Sanctuary, Tyrael and the Horadrim didn't know that the Prime Evils knew about the soulstones, and thought that now was the best time to use the soulstones, it wasn't soecifically planned to use the soulstones when the Prime Evils were in Sanctuary, but it was the best opportunity they had
+Chrane ok ty !
+Chrane i've been studying the game's lore for a while now, even started to play every game in order. I'm pretty sure the soulstones were created to seal the prime evils for all eternity, but izual's betrayal brought the whole plan down by revealing to the prime evils not only the soulstones existence, but HOW to corrupt them as well (which gave the prime evils severals perks, like increase their own powers using the stones as catalists, and making them practically inmortal in sanctuary as they can return no matter the number of times killed as long as the stones aren't destroyed, and of course the main point of it all: being the soulstone pieces of the worldstone, by corrupting them the prime evils could use them to corrupt the worldstone as well, and thus control humanity and their dormant power)
