I didn't even like this way of doing the job yet I watched this whole video. It was very nice to see the love you and your daughter have for working on things together. This made me remember my 1st born son, he loved working on my cars and trucks, and it led to him becoming a very good mechanic at the age of 20 year old. I now have a 3 year old daughter, and I can not wait till she is as big as your little girl, she is already taken my tools to work on the truck while I am working on it. So enjoy these memory man, they don't stay little forever. God bless you and your family.
Honestly I don't prefer this way either. A buddy said this would be easier than dropping the tank... enjoy those times brother. I regret being a little punk kid and not helping my dad. I'm making up for it now tho. My dream it to make a small empire that the whole family can work side by side... dreams....
Thanks for the view. I wish you luck on your future projects. Keep us posted. Take lots of pictures with the kids wen you can and don't forget to get infront of the camera.

Great job getting it done. 💪👍 we are glad to help. Good luck on your diy projects.
Did you said 9-inch long bolts? My '04 RAM uses M12-1.75 Bolts, I have not been able to find that kind of bolt in that lenght. Please can you shared where to buy them?
Hoping your video can shed some light on my 3rd gen dodge crank no start issue
Thnks
Where can I get the 9" bolts used for the retainers😮?
This job was so many moons ago. I am not 100% sure, but I usually pick up my nuts and bolts from my local Ace Hardware. They have a huge selection of specialty Nuts and bolts that help out a lot.
Awesome thank you so much. I'm a female just letting u know and I change I'm on fuel pump. Had help raising the bed tho. Thanks for everything
Hey!! Great job getting your hands dirty and getting the job done. 👍👍 doing your own work on your vehicle gives you more pride in your ride. Keep it up! Great job!
Note to any one watching this video. If your truck is crew cab and not quad cab don’t remove the bed. The cab covers half the fuel pump!!! Ask me how I know lol. Just drop the tank
Thanks for the update. Good luck on your project. 👍
Which way do you prefer dropping the tank or lifting the bed?
I prefer dropping the tank.
@@ScottiesHobbies thnx for the reply. I paid to have it done in feb. It went out again yesterday so I plan on doing it myself this time. I recommend nobody buy the cheap $70 fuel pump on Amazon 😂
Why did you raise the bed instead of dropping the tank? Is it easier this way? Or was the fuel tank full?
Honestly... I was told it would be easier to do it this way. Prior to this change, I usually use a Tranny Jack to drop the tank. I always use a fuel transfer pump to empty the tank prior too. IMHO, Drop the tank.
I’m aware it’s been a while but have gig replaced with aftermarket or OEM pump? I’m debating whether it’s worth the $250 for OEM. If you have an aftermarket has it lasted or would you have preferred OEM? Thank you.
This is my sister's truck.. We probably replaced the fuel pump 3 or 4 months prior to this video being Uploaded. It was a aftermarket fuel pump. I think we had to replace the pigtail to the pump. I believe it came with the necessary parts. I believe we got it off rock auto.. That truck is still running strong today . It constantly drives between Reno and the Bay area.. The truck is now a College kids commuter. I always recommend getting OEM replacement if you can afford it.. But in this case the pump seems to be working just fine.
@@ScottiesHobbies thank you sir.
No problem. Good luck on your fix. Keep us posted on your progress. 💪🤞👍
I have a1999 dodge 1500 replaced, now my gas gauge is not working. Where can I go?
Did you replace the whole sending unit? I'd Honestly think you either got a defective part or the float on the sending unit is stuck.
Watch the video memorize all the steps and it will be a piece of cake to replace it if you forget any step just go back to the video 👍👍👍 thank you I did it you save me money everyone wanted $250-$400 to replace it
Glad to help! Good job getting it done. You gain so much pride in your ride when you keep it going your self. Keep us posted on your future repairs.
12 with rambox the fuel pump is under the cab.
thanks!! Hopefully save some people time just with that. 👍
Can you share the link for the next video please

My 10 yr old daughter is about to help me 😆
good luck with your project! Gotta love the time you get to spend with them while they still want to be Dads little helper.
Might want to suggest that they are fine thread 9 inch bolts. I got coarse by mistake. 20 minute drive into town to switch them lol.
Good idea. Thanks for the view. Good job getting the job done.
Interesting method 🤘🏻🌎
I'm gonna just drop the tank, how heavy is it? I was thinking of using a low profile pump jack to support it and slowly drop it.
I usually drop the tank to do this job but many people say its easier doing it this way. When I drop the tank I usually get the truck jacked off the ground and use a tranny jack for the tank. They are big, flat. And you can strap the tank to the jack. Now the weight will vary depending on the fuel level. If it's a empty tank it can weigh less than 20 lbs. Full tank about 50 to 60 lbs.
@@ScottiesHobbies Gallon of gas weighs 6.3 lbs so 20 gallons weighs about 120lbs plus the empty tank weight. I used 20 because we all know the pump will fail within days of filling your tank at the gas station just like mine did. It rarely fails with only a few gallons in it.
Good video good help with your daughter
OK I’ve got all this done I cannot get the fuel pump out of the tank because it’s hitting the back of the cab
If fuel pump is right back under the cab the tank will need to be dropped enough to remove and replace pump. I saw another video of a ram p.u. where the guy did that and that is what needed to be done. I don't know why Ram did this. The pump should have been under the bed with a plate just need to unbolt and remove/replace fuel pump. But noooooo let's make the consumer take it to the dealership or a repair shop to pay extra money to have it done!!!
Part 2 ?

That spare looks pretty rough, buddy.
I wouldn't doubt. This is a family members truck. Its been to hell and back more than once. This truck only gets maintenance attention when its too late. Lol. If you could see the back, its a little beat up. She got rear ended in Mexico, the 'cops' show up and she ends up having to pay the cops to not take the truck and the guy who hit her cuz the cops said it was her fault. But who takes a car to Mexico that they really care about Krazy? Especially with License plates on. Krazy!! Well needless to say, she came straight home and the truck is still beat up..... many moons later.
Thanks for the view. Good luck on your fix!
Maybe having kids put there hands in crush zones isn’t the best idea 😬😂
Not the greatest but I have a helper I was confident could get the job done. We just gotta take chances. Prior to the job we did a JSA and a Tail Gate Meeting to establish the hazards and potential risk.
Good luck on your fix! Keep us posted on your progress.
I just did this without an impact, would not recommend.
Corded impact at harbor freight, 1,000 ft lbs of torque for less than 100 bucks, can’t go wrong brotha
