- My 2015 RAM 1500 Express RWD 5.7 HEMI was not reading the level of fuel anymore. I got tired of filling up the truck every two days and decided to just change the fuel pump.
I’m not a mechanic, but I’m a beast.
If you have basic knowledge of tools and cars/trucks, you can do this too.
I decided to not drop the tank because I did that on my 1999 Tahoe and it was kind of a pain in the a**
I found this method to be WAY EASIER ! Son I hope this video helps some of you guys 💪🏽
I bought this fuel pump on 1Aauto.com:

Just a heads up, if you have a crew cab, you're gonna have to drop the tank. The cab sits over the fuel pump, and blocks you from removing it.
I pinned this comment because I think this is a valuable piece of information 🤓🤙
oh dear God in heaven
I already lifted the bed and found this out
Hmmm I love wasting my time
I really wish I woulda saw this 3 hours ago… fml
@@paulkleiner9389 waiting to run my tank as empty as possible before dropping it
Good video. You make seem a lot easier than others I've researched.
Prolly the best video ive seen on this
Awesome easy and non boring video.
Nicely done. No one else seemed to mention size of sockets needed.
Good work man. Great video
FYI, I had my fuel sensor go bad (reading incorrectly) and put Diesel fuel cleaner (I used the Lucas brand) in my gas tank and filled with gas and it fixed the problem so far. It's been a month and a half (knock on wood), but it's been working correctly.
Where did you find the clip you had to chase down. Too bad you didnt list where and the part number.
Thanks for taking the time to do the video!
How do you reach the bolts in the tunnels for the bed removal .
No way this is easier than dropping my tank.
Man with my luck i’ll lift the bed then when i go to put it back on i’ll realize my frame bent af and bolts dont line up😂
Honestly this is the best video i’ve seen about this though. Just basic tools, doing the bare minimum to replace the pump. And the tip about the clip is great. Do you have a link for that clip?
Great video. Thank You
Could you dot this fix for me? I’m getting a p0463 code for a high circuit on the fuel sensor I’m in soCal
Where did you find the blue clip?
Have a part number on that little clip?
Will this work on a 2012 dodge ram 1500?
Just a heads up. I got the short bed with ram boxes and air ride. Just went through all of this to find out the fuel sending unit is under my cab.
Same here today...
hello yall. i know this is an old video. just a question for ram owners. i have a crew cab with a short bed. recently got hit. can i swap it with a 6'4 bed or wont line up like the short bed?
Getting ready to do mine too......would it have been easier to remove the bed completely??
Big time bro, I just didn’t feel like doing the extra work.
Did you truck have like plastic bushings that fell off from the cab raise I have three of them and I don’t know where they go I know they came from the bed
Damn, honestly I don’t think so bro, I would have seen them.
If anything I would think they go in between where the bed and frame come into contact with one another? Almost like a washer/ rubber stopper? I’m not sure
Will this fuel pump work on my 15 dodge ram sport 5.7
It should bro, all the 5.7s have pretty much the same fuel pump.
It’s a good idea to double check on the website tho, it’ll ask you to input the year, make, model, & trim to double check that it fits your ram 🤙
Do you remember the size of the clip or part number. Dealer says you have to buy the entire fuel line and aftermarket places like Autozone, O’Reillys, etc, say I would have to bring it in to match up. Which defeats the point of getting it ahead of time if I don’t know what it is until I remove it or if it breaks.
How well is the fuel pump holding up? I seen a few reviews saying that after a month or a week it would act back up.
Great, no issues 🤙
@@shoobiedoubie6871 I need to change mine and I don't wanna do all the work for it to die on me again. Fuel sensor works when its got a full tank but after it gets under half it starts to drop to empty and say fuel sensor fail. I don't want to end up on the side the road when I'm not sure how much fuel I have. Great video, going to plan on doing this soon. Thank you.
@@energyoneeighty2887 I carried a 2 gal jug with gas around for like a year before I finally decided to fix it 😂. Got stuck a couple times lol.
80K I'm replacing mine just in case. Thanks My tank has to come down Big Horn . My code is fuel circuit A problem.
Save yourself if you have a 2014, 5.7 Hemi 4x4, 4 door you have to drop the tank. The pump is 1/2 under the cab and won't come out from the top only!
Where did you buy the new pump?
www.1aauto.com/products/i/1AFPU01593?trk_msg=0BLGVFIOMMUK7A4AGNGMVGMQ7C&trk_contact=8UQONUOVJQ8CCUJ1VHGI5NJ2VO&trk_module=tra&trk_sid=F292K2LRN04VUMUGBUJDLHBHNG&trk_link=9H48VU9VG5RKD16Q9M46IUREIS&.1aauto.com%2fproducts%2fi%2f1AFPU01593&OrderConfirmation&A+Order+Confirmation+Old
Have you had any issues with that pump? I almost ordered one but there was a review that said it caused worse mileage and the gauge was no longer accurate.
Just drop the tank 4 bolts 😂
I’ve done this once before on my old 14 crew cab. Super easy to drop the tank. Best to do it when the tank is close to empty but super easy. I’m about to do this again on my 2015 crew cab. At similar mileage same failure 90-95k miles. It starts out intermittent indicating the sensor strip that sends the signal is starting to get wear marks on it.
My rig needed the replacement at 60K - This is a faulty unit in a lot of trucks that Dodge refuses to recall.
Its a common thing, im getting ready to do mine …
Good luck 🤙
U took the clip off worng
😂
**Crew Cab Owners** Does not work. Fuel pump too far forward, under the cab so you will NOT be able to access from above.
Unnecessary work lol just drop the tank.
your better off taking down the gas tank...so much work to remove bed
