    I'm properly impressed on how well that silver paint pen matched. Silver can be one of the hardest to match in terms of shininess especially.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  7 років тому +5

      +Mr Lurch The silver can be very tricky to colour match. But these pens work perfectly on Ram Man. Not often I don't have to mix a couple of colours to match.

    It's always so interesting to see how just by getting all the little details back into shape a 'kinda daft, kinda rubbish' piece of plastic comes back to a lively state. (Seeing the illusion of life in them restored is great)
    I imagine it was interesting when these were first designed as well because then the designers would - of course- have hunted for the cheapest, most easy to apply solution for creating this transformation from hunk of plastic to engaging awesome figure.
    Edit: And you really get this type of satisfaction in all kinds of restoration work. It will so often go from, 'ugh, it's so bad, let's just chuck it' to 'wow, that's so nice, can I have that?'
    And often it hardly takes much: proper cleaning, proper lube of mechanical bits, sanding off or hiding some scuffs, coat of varnish, boom! done.

    Interesting. Never knew the original had anything wrapped around his bracers. I thought they had nothing in them, like the He-Man figure.
    Have you considered painting them like the newer MOTU classics figures are? I understand you may want to make them as close as the original as possible, but for me they would look so much better fully painted instead.

    Why fuss with the fancy foil for the gauntlets? Just use the paint pens. Maybe not be a "authentic" but it will be a lot more permanent. You could even be "original" and paint the gauntlets black (to match his boots) but paint the trim and the rivet silver (to match his armor). If you really wanna go crazy, paint the rivets either red or green (to match his other colors. Make one red and one green for a "holiday Ram Man"... glue some cotton baton on his chin for a white beard, lol.
