    The key to opening webstors backpack is to put it in the freezer for an hour or so. The glue becomes very brittle. A slight twist with a knife will pop it right open.

  • @tomheckhaus7617
    @tomheckhaus7617 5 років тому

    Well Done! Usually things like this will split open if you put it in a vise and gently squeeze it along the glue lines. I've had good luck cracking open battery boxes and small mains power supplies. If you can find old time radio dial cord it's perfect. Some of the old cameras I work on have a threaded pulley arrangement to charge the shutter and the radio dial cord does the trick.

    Thanks for that video. I'm also repairing a Webstor currently, which is in very nice condition but without the string. Opening the backpack was a bit tricky (because of the litte shaft in the middle which has to be broken) and needed some gentle force. But I could manage it without damaging anything by using soft plastic tools (these things which are used to open game controllers).

    Happy Holidays Dave, I recently bought a vintage webstor malasyan version I think, although without the hook or the rope, I opened the backpack following your video but I noticed that the pulley is different in mine, it does not have the hole in the upper part but instead It is just above the inner hole, I continued and roll up the lower rope clockwise and the one with the largest diameter in an anti-clockwise direction. When I tried it, it worked without much problem, but when I sealed the backpack and applied the weight of the figure, it got stuck and the mechanism does not work, could it be that for each version of the pulley the method is different? Excuse my English but it is not my native language, thanks for everything.

    • @toypolloi
