I am a 44 year old man, I shouldn't be enjoying watching a man wash Castle Greyskull in a sink...but I am. :) Anyone else was a member of the He-Man fan club in the early 80's?
Same with me. I think my sister and I both wound up losing the weapons rack, training device, flag and upper ledges. Plus I never knew about the cardboard parts.
@@brianschwartz1372 Maybe it was the packaging. Most 3-10 year olds aren't the most sagacious nor thorough on a Christmas morning, so intricate parts are easily overlooked an instructions... puh! We don't need no stinking instructions
Always wanted gray skull growing up, parents couldn’t afford it. Now that I’m 40, I just recently purchased the origins version. And I could not be happier. This Vintage one looks great.
I watched this years ago, forgot about your channel (didn't subscribe like I should've), and just rediscovered it. Your restorations remain super impressive, and also very encouraging to someone like me who frets about toy damage. Keep up the great work.
+Toy Polloi well it's something I'd like to do but space & money issues aside I have lots of hobbies that take up most of my time. So watching your videos is the next best thing for me, kinda relaxing, very informative & seeing a lot of these toys takes me back to my childhood.
Well, Mr. Polloi, here's a slime recipe. Haven't made it myself, but the internets and the youtubes have tons of recipes. Bon courage. What You Need: School glue Borax (Sodium tetraborate) Food coloring (optional) Water Two bowls What You Do: In one bowl mix 1 oz. glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. If you want colored slime, add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens. Add ¼ cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly. The slime will begin to form immediately. Lift some of the solution with the stir stick and observe how the consistency has changed from Step 1. Stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. This is a messy experience but is necessary because it allows the two compounds to bond completely. Don't worry about any leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out. When not in use, store the slime in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep it from growing mold. - See more at: www.homesciencetools.com/learning-center/how-to-make-slime#sthash.97zZ0Lku.dpuf
My mom got me a castle Grayskull for my birthday I can’t stop playing with it cause im a kid and I like He-Man and castle Grayskull IS LIT. Big thanks to my mom she does so much for me and only deserves the best
Just wanted to thank you for the stickers. I‘ve just recently acquired a Castle Grayskull in pretty bad condition (door, fixation of the throne and weapon rack damaged and no stickers at all) With the stickers from your site, my friend who fix any broken toy (he was miraculous in the restauration of my old secret wars Spiderman) will be able to restaure it
My God! What an incredible channel! I do not believe I can repair many items in my collection with your help! Thank you very much, I'm recovering a great moment from my childhood!
I love your videos. I wind down my day watching you bring these toys back to their former glory. You are Like the Bob Ross of toy restoration. I hope you take that as a compliment.
I got a Vintage Castle and started restoring it today. Already printed the cardboards and fixed the door like you showed, just used a wood pin instead of plastic, but cut it like in the video, it is perfect. So, thanks a lot for the instructions :)
This is one heck of a great video tutorial. My Greyskull does not have any issues, but if I run into any or find another that needs repair this is an extremely useful guide. Thank you! Subscribed.
In regards to the door hinge pin in a + shape, I would recommend the plastic standoffs that hold the fruit suspended from the base on an Edible Arrangements product. They are sturdy, approximately 8 inches in length, and 2 sizes on the same rod. It's white in color. Thank you from grandparents that want to pass down our kids toys to our grandkids and great grandkids. It means a lot to us.
Hi Dave, great video! Your restoration skills are amazing. I have restored a vintage Millennium Falcon and a vintage Slave 1, and I am in the process of restoring a Kenner Star Destroyer. Next I think I would like to tackle the much needed restoration of my childhood Castle Grayskull. Keep up the great work!
If it weren't for you,the aging of childhood toys that are in disrepair have hope of resurrection,I'd like to see you repair a Remco 6 inch glow Monster
Really enjoyable! I found your channel through the Kenner Death Star restoration, and have been binging your videos a tad! This is fantastic, I loved your solution for the door peg.
Great video. I recommend putting the string through the window near the lift and attaching the gargoyle so that it hangs on the outside of Castle Grayskull. That way the lift shaft won't get dislodged when you pull on the string (a design flaw with the lift mechanism).
I do not run the toyjesus.com website. If the site is not available, I don't know why. Sorry. You can still get the same file here www.he-man.org/collecting/toy.php?id=542&image=8198
What's the protocol for restorations like this? Is the idea to keep everything as original as possible? I could see a couple of things that could use some improvement, mainly the paint and mold seams, but once again, I'm not sure what is expected.
you got lucky with this one, mine didn't have the floor trap piece which was ridiculously hard to find for a decent price. I did my own restoration and most of the stickers I printed on some sticker paper. Probably should have went with glossy, but it still looks OK. I did the flag pole, the computer sentry guy, the other weapons, and the banner. I used a cereal box to recreate the card stock pieces that were included with the set. What a great playset! Everything else I had to buy for premium prices, like the ladder and training spinner. I think I may have the original elevator at least with white string and falcon holder.
You ended up with a more complete and impressive castle than the brand new one I owned when I was little. It was beautiful to watch this come together so well.
I always wanted Castle Greyskull when I was a kid, as I had the figures. I asked for it one Christmas, but when my mum and dad went to buy it, they saw it on display and thought it looked cheap and crappy. Instead they bought me the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Fortress of Fangs which at first I was a little disappointed in (I didn't tell them). However, after playing with it, I realised it was a really nice castle, trapdoors, wall of spikes, a slide to the loot chest, lava and a prison cell. So much so, I went mad buying D&D figures and the bronze dragon! It was really solidly built too. But of course, years later I go away to university and come back to find it had all been sold at a jumble sale along with my Star Wars and Mask toys...
The Fortress of Fangs was pretty cool, but as good as Castle Grayskull. Castle Grayskull opens up to allow easy access to the interior, making it bigger, and thanks to the the carry handle it was more portable too.
+Toy Polloi Fair enough. If you could get one of the Death Stars which would it be the UK or the US one? I think I prefer the UK as it's miles bigger the US one is still cool though.
Just found a castle grayskull for £3 here in Denmark, It is missing a few parts, but I have used your video and prints. Can you make a print/toturial for the flag? (Managed to buy most parts from friends in DK).
Thanks a lot for your amazing job Pal! You do great, I love all your work on MOTU stuff. I have a question, and I don't think it's been talked about here. I have issues with the prints scale, when I print them as it comes they don't feet the castle's parts. Do you know with scale I must print them ? Thanks a lot for your help.
Replacing the spring requires opening the figures up which is not easy and can cause serious damage to them. So for now best to leave them as is. Cheers

WD-40 works great for removing glue residue - both fresh and old. It does not harm the plastic either. After rubbing the residue with a clot or similar, simply rinse with water.
Lighter fluid is better. It evaporates faster and doesn't smell as strong.
