If Darth Maul had *not* killed Qui-Gon Jinn, and he had not only trained Anakin but kept questioning the Jedi Order, could they have defeated Palpatine and his plans?
Most likely
The song playing during the fight between Qui-gon and Maul is called “Duel of the fates”. This is because the fate of anakin skywalker is being determined during this fight. In the end Maul wins this fight despite being cut in half, because the dark side won leading to Skywalkers fall.
What if Darth Maul had steamrolled Anakin with his speeder?
Almost definitely. Maul didnt realize it, but he set in motion the very thing that decades later he would try to stop. Had Qui-Gon been Anakins master, he and Obi-Wan would have had the same brotherly bond, but with a united father figure, and an understanding one that that. Anakin wouldnt have been scared to go to Qui-Gon when he started feeling dark thoughts, he may have even been comfortable going to him after the Tusken indecent, because even though he would have disapproved, Qui-Gon would have understood his feelings, and instead of forsaking him like the other masters would have, he would have tried to guide him to balance. And he definitely would have gone to him in regards to Padme and his visions, and Qui-Gon would have taken him seriously and tried everything to help, even likely breaking into the forbidden archives if he thought it necessary, that alone would have stopped him from joining Palpatine in the final fight.
a Star Wars "What If" style show would be amazing. "What If... Qui-Gon trained Anakin?" "What If... Dooku wasnt killed?" What If... Luke joined his father" "What If... Leia had been the one sent to Tattoine?" "What If... Obi-Wan joined Dooku", "What If... Jango had survived to train Boba Fett", ect. the possibilities are endless.
Qui-gon is the only master with the ability to question and go against jedi council and stay a member of the order. He was basically the orders only shot at surviving the ordeals to come. Obi-Wan was, ironically, too young to take the mantle of what he left behind. Even if anakin did not exist the order would still be doomed without without him in my opinion.
Why is it that by the end of this video, I was quite literally in tears? xD

Rebels haters are whack, I wholeheartedly second this. I’ve always felt that Ezra represented what Anakin could have been had Qui Gon won the Duel of the Fates.

I think what the Jedi should've done was have something akin to "Defense Against the Dark Arts" in Harry Potter, basically "Defense Against the Dark Side" in order to teach Jedi the dangers of the Dark Side and what to do when encountering a Dark Sider.
I like this idea.
Even better why not teach them how to control their emotions. They could even teach Jedi how to do what Mace Windu did and teach them how to use the dark side to there advantage.
Another one would be teaching them to HANDLE their emotions, not suppress them, after all, it was Bastila’s love for Revan that saved the jedi order and republic in the jedi civil war

"Nazism" isnt either, while yes there may be some nazis there it isnt everyone and no real genocide against Russians occurred (same "genocide" that happens to palestinians, palestinians have tripled in population since the creation of Israel however the main issue is cultural repression). I think one of the biggest faults of the council was essentially the fact that their main leader was a 900 year old green alien. Some people say "with age comes wisdom" but when it comes to a 900 year old alien who's seen the council change members more times and anyone in the entirety of the order their opinions stagnant

And this latest post is amazing as well. Your are able to properly put into words what needs to be said and present ideas that are true to the human condition. We need to overcome hate and tribalism in this country. We need to remember that we are all human and we are all in this world together.
i am glad you are still talking about ukraine, and doing so in an appropriate way. i think in both our world and star wars, there is one thing that seems to be pretty universal. extremism is wrong and dangerous no matter what the extremism is for. it causes people to lie for the sake of a cause. it also gives them a reason to do things that they maybe wouldnt have normally done because they feel like it is justified. it leads to the oppression you are seeing all over the world. i mean putin is breaking his own people right along with ukraine. ive been extremely impressed by the russian citizens who oppose putin and i am extremely saddened about how they are being treated. i saw that video of a womanw ith like a 5 inch sign that said "no war" get arressted extremely quickly. i'm impressed at their ability to find information from outside the country that isnt sponsorde by russia. it takes effort i'm sure and its something i wish more people here in america would do in terms of things like right wing extremism and qanon rather than taking the word of people who dont actually have good intentions.

In defense of the Jedi, by the time of the Clone Wars, there was not a single living Jedi who had ever seen a Sith; they had been extinct for over 1000 years. The ONLY threat the Jedi had to deal with concerning the darkside were Dark Jedi from their own ranks. I'd also point out that schisms in the Jedi Order created centuries of galactic scale war. The Jedi HAD to strictly police themselves THEY were the biggest threat in the galaxy. The vast majority of what the Jedi protected the galaxy from were Jedi and other Force users, of course they would want to suppress the desire and teachings of the Darkside, the very thing that made Force users a galactic threat. Also, it worked, for a 1000 years, the galaxy was at peace, and there were no major schisms or wars, even Dark Jedi became a rarity. That all ended when they broke their own rules and took in Anakin Skywalker, destroying the Republic and the Jedi Order.
If did not take in Anakin Skywalker they were still doomed. the Sith had plan in the time when Anakin Skywalker born. The biggest problem is if Anakin never become Jedi the events that cause empire to fall would never have happened. Rebirth of Jedi order would never have happen earthier because the empire would last hundreds of years.
I know this is a Star Wars quote but it hits hards today

I completely agree that solutions come from critical thinking and empathy rather than through hate and dehumanization. Things will get better when we can sit down and think through our problems and respect each other's humanity.
One of the biggest problems with political discourse is far too many people take polarized stance. Anyone who disagrees, or even kinda maybe belongs to the same group as someone who disagrees is suddenly the absolute evil worst person in history who deserves to be attacked.
You will never change someone's mind by treating them as the enemy and attacking them, only by calmly talking to them.
That's why Jinn was the best person to train Anakin. He wouldn't berate Skywalker for his views like SOME people did.

Imagine what we could do if we put all that effort we put into combating the symptom (racist acts) into learning why they act that way and how to make them see the error in their ways.
Most people get this I think as usual we’re held hostage by a small radical minority. Who themselves have probably been the victims of terrible racism and no longer can stay rational.
All I can say to anyone that wants to stop any prejudice is to always go and search about what gives you this symptom. Replace prejudice with knowledge.

Empathy...that's something most social media lack these days. People refuse to try and understand other people, they just assume people are racist, sexist or some other thing and believe they deserve scorn, hatred and the like, thus in turn end up creating more hatred. It sickens me everytime I see it.
For example, when the Left sees a straight white male, they nowadays immediately think he's racist, sexist and homophobic.
I have always liked this channel, but after this video, I find I like the people running it more. It's nice to see that others understand it's government who start wars, and it's individuals who suffer for it. Thank you for this video

Star wars is such an incredible brand. Everything from the story-telling, action and fantasy to the correlations and comparisons to real world issues and events. Star Wars is so many things to so many people, and allows us to explore all sorts of ideas and ‘parallel universe’ type storylines. Its a safe space to play on and examine what has already been, and could eventually be while maintaining the cover of fiction to nullify any consequence of real-world similarities that could be made, and that is what I love the most. The political depth, the conflict, the resolutions, the compromises, the stories, tales, movies, TV shows, the characters.. I could go on. Star Wars as a whole is quite possibly the single most incredible franchise of all time, and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Some of my favorite parts of your videos are when you acknowledge the complexities of war in the Star Wars galaxy, i.e. the lies, propaganda, backstabbing, ulterior motives, false flags, etc.
The people in power play these games with us and we are the ones that suffer

I applaud you for going over there, and sticking with bringing intelligent conversations. Thank you for saying what I've believed since I was a kid as well: people are humans. People are complicated. Compassion and empathy are important elements that keeps humanity together. See someone for who they are. Not for what they look like on the outside. Sure there are some natural douchebags, but I believe the majority of people are inherently good. Many became confused and either indorenate into the wrong information during childhood, or fell into it in adulthood.
