Ok, so, true story: in finals week my university brings in emotional support dogs to the library to help with everyone's stress. Also, Fox sure is a hotbed for sociopathic tendencies.
My college had puppies in the counseling center during finals week, it was LOVELY. Being able to pause and relax during the finals chaos was so helpful and such a needed break. I did really well on my finals and even got an A+ from a professor who boasts that most people fail their course 🙄 I put in the work of course, but easing my stress levels and taking care of myself made the whole experience much easier to handle.
I can't imagine they are so dumb as to think the study implied we should hand out kittens to college kids. It's clearly just showing a correlation between petting animals and stress levels..
Of course. They know that, they are simply twisting it into a reason for their viewers to be angry. That is their raison d'etre, they are the rage machine.
The acrobatics the fox cast and writers do to create conflict is amazing. Also, as someone who lives in the real world, I have three pets because someone literally handed me a puppy/kitty at three different times in the real world. Seriously though, I loved when volunteers would set up dog petting days at the campus. Additionally, my old boss volunteers with her therapy dog at hospitals, because petting animals improves patient moods/outcomes.
My community college would have a week long event if sorts during finals that had all kinds of things to help students have fun and de-stress, including a puppy petting event. And yes, they used puppies from a shelter that were available for adoption :)
Literally, people do hand you puppies/cats in real life, it´s called adoption (or some just put them in a box and abandon them near your doorstep). Happens a lot here...
I payed into Medicare all my working life. In retirement I have pursued a number of neccessary health issues. I could not have afforded it without Medicare.
Medicare contribution used to be capped but not anymore; social security contribution, however, remains capped, benefitting the wealthy greatly. Sad. BTW it's "PAID," not "PAYED." The latter is an actual word but it doesn't mean the same thing.
I fought hard for several years and hired and paid a lawyer to get social security disability and medicaid. I can barely get by on what I get, only bc my parents allow me to live on their land rent-free and I don't have a vehicle and I only spend $$ on utilities and food. If they defund those systems it would take away my independence entirely, and I'm one of the lucky ones, at least I have family that would take me in and support me, others in my situation would be homeless very quickly. I wish the people in charge of deciding how much money people like me, and people like you, get, would live in our situation for just a little bit. Because I know they have no clue how scary it is to think you might need a medical procedure and have no way to pay for it.. They've never even worried about not being able to afford a prescription.

One of the best dogs we ever had was literally someone walked up to my wife and handed her a puppy. Also, looked like the study was about petting a cat having a calming effect, not a plea to give college students puppies. Leave it to fox news to declare puppies and cats are the same thing.
"Nobody's just going to hand you a kitten in real life" Uh, ma'am, I have like six friends who have taken in stray and rescue kittens and are trying to find someone to adopt them RIGHT NOW. One friend brought in a stray cat during a really bad rainstorm and she promptly gave birth in her closet all over her husband's favorite boots. It takes an impressive level of crazy to get that worked up over a study about reducing stress by petting cats.
It doesn't even have to be cats. What's next, Fox News promoting "Let's beat up anyone who has a pet/likes animals/is not a complete psychopath?" Because, it's ironic, one of the warning signs on lists of _Warning Signs You Might Be Dealing With a Psychopath_ compiled by both psychologists and the FBI over the years is: "cruelty to animals". Bonus point if the person started abusing or killing small wild animals or pets early in childhood.

@@daverhoden445 as a joke, not really; it's mostly funny because of how obscure Anselm's argument is, outside of a philosophy or theology classroom it's a pretty safe bet that no one else would recognize it... the "ontological proof" meaning that it's derived from the fundamental nature of what God definitionally is, Anselm essentially argued that God is "that than which nothing greater can be" (except in Latin), and rather than it simply being a circular logic "I define God to be existing, therefore God exists," Anselm writes about 50 pages of very dense Catholic philosophy to argue that the definition is metaphysically necessary for the concept of God to be intelligible at all... in short, it's a way more linguistically awkward (but still technically logically sound and valid) version of Aquinas' more famous Five Ways proofs, and very few people are likely to have any awareness of it at all outside of a seminary haha
That’s funny how they’re always crying about being pegged as the bad guys, then go on about how much they want to hit their kids. Often fixated on various ways they’d do it. That’s quite disturbing.
Oh gods! Imagine being the child of someone off Fox! Yikes!
I was really disturbed by that comment too. You want to slap kids in the face?!! WTF? Just more examples of adults unable to control their emotions.
@@dday9433 "Just more examples of adults unable to control their emotions." ? Great.....Now you're making me feel guilty for wanting to slap these "NEWS"casters in the face !
I couldn't get over the irony of them accusing other people of being "snowflakes" while freaking out & getting hysterical over students petting cats & dogs.
I mean, they wanted to slap college students for petting kitties when they say they should spend every waking second working. No mention of being against students going to bars, getting drunk and missing first period Medieval Poetry class. That's ok ... as long as the bar didn't allow any heavy kitty petting. That leads to liberalism!
And you know that the second they found out that a Democrat spanked their kid(s), they'd be front and center calling them abusive and that their kid(s) should be taken away from them.
stephen dancing - both on his own and then with the puppies - really just makes this monologue pop
That song though 👏 Colbert is undoubtedly the king of late night.
Anybody who saw what transpired to this country then still votes REPUBLICANA is beyond hope
US is beyond hope
Consider those adorable puppies adopted.❤
"Republicana" sounds like an energy drink specifically sold for right-wing nutters. "Republicana! Now with extra nut!"
@@gamepapa1211 And extra cheek, they can't stop kissing cheeks. All the cheeks!!
Everyone who saw what transpired in this country and still thinks that voting is going to solve the issue is beyond hope.
The US voted, and Republicans attacked Congress to end democracy, and everyone let it slide.
None of you believe in anything. This is why Donald Trump was able to grab all of you by your pussies.
"I am not the winner, and they stole it from me, and I accept that." 🤣🤣🤣
Excellent Steven! One of your top 5, for sure!!!
VOTE ON NOVEMBER 8TH! THE STAKES ARE TOO HIGH TO STAY HOME!
Blue wave!!!!! 🌊
Just early vote instead! Then much less chance of giant lines and right wing fuckery messing anything up.
Already voted. All pro democracy candidates!
Already voted. 🙂
Nah...as a Californian it doesn't matter to me
Put any of those Fox hosts in an election with one of those puppies, I can guarantee the puppy will win due to voter fraud 😂
Imagine being that angry over a study about the benefits of owning a pet, though. How little do they have to talk about that they complain about stress reduction through pet ownership? They gripe about the weirdest crap, I swear. And shaming people for trying to be happier by reducing mental strain is kinda disgusting. Isn’t the goal to live better and more balanced lives?
@@BeeWhistler and they call others "snowflakes".🤣
@@BeeWhistler I have the same question, although the answer is already clear, they’re miserable hence they like other people miserable as well.
Betting five bucks that every single one of those naysayers in that Fox News segment owns a pet or an emotional support animal. Because hypocrisy is their brand.
😁
Nice little song, Stephen! Randy Rainbow will be proud of you!
Applause, Stephen and the Late Show Band with your original song. I yelled OH YEAH loud enough to scare my dog.
I scared mine, as well. Love it!
Lol I clapped and laughed so hard I woke up my cat!
Holy crap! I thought no one was handing out puppies? That mean lady on the TV lied to me!
Bare with me here... My parents argued a lot. Sniping at each other constantly while I was growing up. A terrible atmosphere to grow up in. I used to joke to others that they could argue about the length of the grass until, I kid you not, one weekend they had a blazing row about just that... The length of the grass in the yard. It ended with my father slapping my mother and things been thrown everywhere.
They're both long dead now. They would've fitted right in with Fox these day's.
Even weirder? They stayed together for 54 year's till my father died. Gluttons for punishment, but I left.
That's really sad, that they spent so much of their life being miserable. Toxic cycles are really hard to break.
The day I proposed to my fiancee, her grandma said, "Now, remember, you two: marriage is made of a three-ring circus: the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering!"
54 years?! Jesus... I’m reminded once again of the subreddit description;
“Is someone forcing these poor souls to stay together?” - /r/AreTheStraightsOkay
im sorry. that was parents in many ways.
I swore I would never be that.
Some days I think I already am...
You need a puppy!
