I am planning to do this myself, but have a challenge, my engine was still working with the shaking idling, but sometimes if it stops at the hard spot I wouldn't crank up, so I decided to park it, will I need to set anything further if I buy the chain kit and tools? My engine is BVZ tiptronic

I have started to open the engine and found the top plastic on the tensioner broken in 2, one of them was jamming the rotation. My engine is automatic, how do I lock it from turning while I remove the pulley? Will putting it on drive work? I have now by mistake put it on P, and I need a battery connected to get it out there, will I harm anything if I connect it while coils and sensors are out? just to get the gear shifter released
I need your help, im an able to locate the marked pin on the intake camshaft. Therefore i need more explanation how i can set the chain without the timing tool please help me.
I have a Seat Altea 2008 Model. It needs Timing chain replacement. Theres a crew just underneath the cover that we struggling to remove. Please assist.
Just wanted to say thanks you really helped me out. Only issue is my timing covers leaking. I'm gonna check the bolts to make sure they're all torqued if so I'm gonna pull it and try some copper rtv just to make sure the gasket seals.
My dealer told me my 2006 Audi A3 8P 2.0TFSI GWA has no chain, but a belt. Though I believe it's an EA113. Are there mutiple EA113 build possibilities?

Hi, The engine sounds like its a diesel engine. You can hear ticking. There may not be check engine light. Open the hood, start the car and listen. No need to open anything.
Hey man I'm getting a camshaft correlation issue the car has good power its just the idle is very rough I made sure the exhaust cam (belt ) was at the OT mark and made sure the cams were locked when removing and installing the new chain and tensioner can you think of anything that I might be doing wrong? edit: The mark on the cam gear and the exhaust gear bust be 20 links apart?

@@VagGarage hey man did it exactly as you said 3 times I still get a incorrect correlation error I think the cam adjuster unit is bad because along with the chain and tensioner I also changed that unit but it wasn't an oem it was a unit off ebay

Now move the intake cam a few millimeters until the notches of the cam adjuster slides in. First i dont understand how you can move the intake with the T10252 tool on both cams. And i also thought youre changing the timing with this step? You just control the timing by looking on those two cams? Is that precisely enough? And what to do when timing is not correct at this point? :D Thank you so much for youre help :D
Last question was your engine out of time? Also, how did you rotate the cams for locking? by the crank pulley or by the the camshaft with the 2 pin tool. This is the biggest mechanical job ive done myself. Playing withvtiming scares me, but the car isn't worth spending $1000 to fix. P.s. my car is in time, it just rattles on cold starts.

Hi, Yes. You need to open valve cover to lock the cams. If you wont lock cams, you wont be able to open cam adjuster bolt as seen 1:40. You can get the cam locking tools for 50$ from aliexpress.

Tshepo Monama 3:45, use this bit head spanner to remove those 3 screws.
I'm at right at about here 1:40 this part is seized in. how safe is it to drill it out? I have the proper tools
They drill it all the time. Be sure to drill it straight or you are screwed.

EA113 engine has belt but also chain. If your mechanic doesn't know that, I would recommend to change mechanic.

You need to count links even when cams are locked. It is possible to install one teeth wrong.

Does the valve cover have to come off when doing the chain and tensioner? I just had mine done. 1 step forward 2 back.
Yes you need to remove valve cover to install cam lock.

You dont spin the cam. Its possible to change timing if you dont put chain in correct positions.

Is the copper link relavent to the timing?

@@85funnyguy yes it works for opening, yes it can move one or two teeth so thats why you are counting chain links.

My chain snapped and made a hole in its carcass in the upper side right near the hpfp. Do you think replacing the timing chain kit will solve it?
If the chain has snapped, replacing the chain isnt enough.

DO NOT USE TORX! Torx will break the bolt and it will cost you a lot. You need special key T40080(RIBE M10), cost about 8-10€ from local shop..
