Hello, I have a question. I did exactly as you described in the video. I changed the fuse and put everything back together. Unfortunately, the car tells me that it won't start and that the car needs servicing. There's supposed to be a microswitch in the dcdc converter that detects sabotage. Did you also have this effect that it stopped working?
@@Bortek00 did you reinstall software?
@@VagGarage no😅
Do you have any solution for me as to what I should do now?

Hei after changing fuse I got ton of message on screen. Any tips how to fix them? It's about power supply and problem with air suspension after removing tank
We did not remove air tank. If you have emptied the air system. It needs to be refilled from maintenance menu. Also you need reinstall software.
Is the full system restart thats recommend?

I'm having the same issues, what did you end up doing?
Hi, getting the same codes as you did, how did you sort the issue, did you take it back to Tesla? Appreciate any help thank you.
Thanks for sharing; found this after seeing Tesla Model S had its fusebox moved from the wheel well to the firewall .. for anyone else finding it for the same reason, TMS (P100D 2017) has the box flipped 180 degress with the lid towards the firewall and it requires a unicorn and some magic to replace the fuses. 2 amateurs and 10 hours later the fault codes was cleared though:)
Grea to hear!
Yeah we probably had 60cm worth of flexible and rigid extensions for a socket wrench with one guiding the socket between the firewall and motor, and the other screwing in front of the motor, and a low profile ratcheting wrench to get the lid screwed on and off with the limited space we were able to create. Whomever decided the lid should face the firewall should be tried for crimes against humanity!
Agree 100%
How in the hell did you get those damn screws out?
@@RyanDurbin10 if you're asking me then extensions + socket wrench and ratcheting wrench as described above and a lot of words..
Great video. Do you know if the Model S Gen 2 unit is in the same or similar position?
It should be
Good day Will it be the same for a VW Passat fsi with a BVZ engine? I mean the tools needed and the steps.
Yes
I am planning to do this myself, but have a challenge, my engine was still working with the shaking idling, but sometimes if it stops at the hard spot I wouldn't crank up, so I decided to park it, will I need to set anything further if I buy the chain kit and tools? My engine is BVZ tiptronic

Good day Just got this kit on the local spare, is this the correct kit? I noticed the code BVZ included and am convinced it is, but it is good to be sure. "Golf 5 GTI FSI SET BWA BVZ BWE Engine Codes"
I have started to open the engine and found the top plastic on the tensioner broken in 2, one of them was jamming the rotation. My engine is automatic, how do I lock it from turning while I remove the pulley? Will putting it on drive work? I have now by mistake put it on P, and I need a battery connected to get it out there, will I harm anything if I connect it while coils and sensors are out? just to get the gear shifter released
I need your help, im an able to locate the marked pin on the intake camshaft. Therefore i need more explanation how i can set the chain without the timing tool please help me.
I replace the heater fuse, I tested it, the heat is working, moved the car in and out of garage, then the next day, the car won't change the 12v battery, any idea why ?
Did you get it fixed?
@@VagGarage my friend brought the car back to tesla, and they replaced both his ptc unit and the junction box, saying that the aftermarket fuse caused the problem lol

@@VagGarageI'm having the same issue any updated info?
Excellent video. Following the video and doing the steps myself, I have a few comments. 1. Would recommend taking pictures of the bolts and fittings so that you know where it goes when putting it back. 2. The two bolts on the lowest part of the fuse box are the most difficult, in my opinion, and would recommend putting something between the fusebox and body panel so that if you drop a tool or screw, you don't waste time fishing it up again. Also, do you have any tips on how to remove the bottom two screws more easily? I used almost 1 hour on those two.
I used small ratchet that uses bit heads
Hi @expresslangeGarage ! Appreciate the video! You say left fuse for PTC. Do you mean the driver side or passenger side? Left if you are sitting in the vehicle or left if you are standing in front of the frunk :)
Standing in front of the trunk. Recommend to use multimeter and check both just in case :)
Thank you. Yep, thats what I did.
is the location of the PTC fuse the same for Model X 100D produced in 08.2017? What year is this model X?
Yes it is. This was 2018 model

How many links for blx 2l fsi

@@VagGarage how many links I should count on my 2l fsi non turbo
@@maisondube6624 Not chain pins, but chain links. When you reach 20 links, at the 20th link comes marked camshaft gear teeth like shown in the picture

Finland
Thanks a lot ❤ This is so much better compared to other mechanics (shaky and blurry cam, you can see nothing, show nothing about the actual repair steps, only 5 sec somewhere in the middle of the repair, talking about everything else despite the actual repair)
With engine off when you rotate motor chain is a little weak, its normal? Or should be tensioned?
Normal

Good video. Quick question. VW in the UK told me that this is not a service item? I have a GTI mk5 2007 with the BWA engine
This needs change every 70-150tkm
My dealer told me my 2006 Audi A3 8P 2.0TFSI GWA has no chain, but a belt. Though I believe it's an EA113. Are there mutiple EA113 build possibilities?
EA113 engine has belt but also chain. If your mechanic doesn't know that, I would recommend to change mechanic.
Hi, how often should the chain be changed? Thanks
70000-200000km. There is no specific mileage. Listen to the sound.
My chain snapped and made a hole in its carcass in the upper side right near the hpfp. Do you think replacing the timing chain kit will solve it?
If the chain has snapped, replacing the chain isnt enough.
@@VagGarage I’m afraid you are right. What are the probabilities of the valves to be bent?. Or is there anything worse I can expect?
How do I know if the chain+ tensioner have to be changed? What are simptons? Check engine light? Some particular sound? Can I do some procedure to check it?
Hi, The engine sounds like its a diesel engine. You can hear ticking. There may not be check engine light. Open the hood, start the car and listen. No need to open anything.
I just dont understand one part. How are you supposed to spin the cam <2cm with the bar when the camshaft itself is fixed? The timing doesnt change after doing this?
You dont spin the cam. Its possible to change timing if you dont put chain in correct positions.
@@VagGarage Could you please explain me the Step at 2:15 then? :D In my manual its like this : At first chain on the cam adjuster. Then chain on the intake cam. Now move the intake cam a few millimeters until the notches of the cam adjuster slides in. First i dont understand how you can move the intake with the T10252 tool on both cams. And i also thought youre changing the timing with this step? You just control the timing by looking on those two cams? Is that precisely enough? And what to do when timing is not correct at this point? :D Thank you so much for youre help :D
Dose this go for the tt tfsi 2007
Hey man I'm getting a camshaft correlation issue the car has good power its just the idle is very rough I made sure the exhaust cam (belt ) was at the OT mark and made sure the cams were locked when removing and installing the new chain and tensioner can you think of anything that I might be doing wrong? edit: The mark on the cam gear and the exhaust gear bust be 20 links apart?
You need to count links even when cams are locked. It is possible to install one teeth wrong.

No
@@VagGarage did the cam lock work well? I'm concerned the even with the lock the cam can move.
@@85funnyguy yes it works for opening, yes it can move one or two teeth so thats why you are counting chain links.
Last question was your engine out of time? Also, how did you rotate the cams for locking? by the crank pulley or by the the camshaft with the 2 pin tool. This is the biggest mechanical job ive done myself. Playing withvtiming scares me, but the car isn't worth spending $1000 to fix. P.s. my car is in time, it just rattles on cold starts.

Does the valve cover have to come off when doing the chain and tensioner? I just had mine done. 1 step forward 2 back.
Yes you need to remove valve cover to install cam lock.

Hi, Have you read the fault codes and checked the timing with VCDS(VAG-COM)? it will give a lot of information about the engine. While replacing the chain, you can easily put the timing wrong..
Hi just wondering the size of the torx bolt holding the gear on. Trying to get the chain off but don’t know the size torx I need. Thank you
