  • In todays video I am showing you how to process and preserve sweet corn. Join us today as we pick, process and preserve our sweet corn from our garden. Like most of what we do, it is a family affair. I will show you how we process our corn. We have discovered how to process our corn as quickly and painlessly as possible. It might just be the easiest way to freeze corn. I will show you how to blanch corn quickly and then we will be cutting corn off the cob for freezing the easy way.

My grandmother- rip mawmaw- taught me how to do this- but she also did it by hand/ she don’t have the vintage cutter! I miss her- she really was the glue to our family but any how- I am greatful to have those memories with her!!!

This was the time of summer I hated the most growing up!! Boiling batch after batch, transferring hot cobs to the sink, all in houses with no central air!!! 🥵 Now the families do it just like you do, all outside, even though they have central air now! It does make for good memories though!

Very cool especially your little granddaughter ❤️I always wanted to do things like this but my husband is a construction worker and I’m not able to do it all by myself, so my corn comes from the frozen section 😊

What type of brush do you use to remove the silk?

My Mom was always careful about getting too much of the cob cut off. How good are those cutters you showed about that. She would cut maybe half the kernels then scrape the cob. I just want to make some like my Mom did. Please let me know.

The cutter doesn't dig into the cob.

Why do you blanch it for so long? Seems to be twice as long as I have always done.

I did not see where to find or where to order the corn scrapper's. Would you please send me a text or an email telling me where I can order or buy them because I have to use a knife when I do corn 🌽.

could have made this video much much shorter and still hit all the main points..no need to watch a complete bag gets filled, and so ears chopped etc. 3-4 would have gotten the point across just fine. using some of that time to explain things like, what type of brush works best to get the silk off etc would have been better.
