      Thx for this video! I was more impressed by the paper towel in the burger to soak up the grease!😮 Genius! For many many years I’ve tried multiple techniques, pouring in a can, old candle jar, used coffee container but this is way easier! Thx so much! I’m definitely doing it this way in the future!👍🏼 Also, thx for great tips. Never thought of freezing mashed potatoes!🫶🏼

      Hi, speaking of prepping and stocking up and freezing things .. what do I say to someone who says we shouldn’t put too much into freezers that are dependent on electricity.. what if the power grid goes down..!? (And with the cost of gas even if u have a generator that may be too hard to keep up too..)

    Lemons and limes freeze really well too. To defrost, just pop them into some cool water for 20 mins and they're the same as when you bought them fresh 🍋

    I've just started freezing ingredients such as garlic, ginger, peppers and diced onions which cuts a lot of prep time especially since the chemo is kicking my ass right now. When I have a burst of energy I've been preparing my own healthy ready meals and freezing them which has been a god send and reduces the amount of food wastage too.

      @sharonwoods4508 I had no option my wife really can't cook beyond ready meals in a microwave lol, even when my skin turned green and I was dead on my feet I cooked 2 or 3 meals in advance. Thankfully our boys were not very fussy and they did help out by cooking their own meals when I couldn't get out of bed.

    I was an Over the road truck driver.. so I would cook once a month when I was home.. chicken, pork, roasts et cet.. beans, burritos, pasta, fried rice, corn bread.. most almost everything I needed to have fresh cooked meals on the road, though I did tends to buy frozen vegetable as it was less cooking for me in my short time home. .. vacuum seal individual portions (3oz to 4oz) and freeze.
    now that I'm off the road and my teenage daughter lives with me.. I still do this because she loves being able to grab whatever she's hungry for whenever she wants. I've added precooked seasoned chicken and steak fajita meat and vacuum seal in 2 taco portions as we both love these as a snack or small meal.

    As child my Mom had a "tatter tail" bowl in freezer. After every meal we put our left over vegetables in there (minus corn or spinach) and when reached a good amount she made a soup out of it. Great memories.

      My husband and I make COTR beans. It's a fun way to use leftovers -- or leftover leftovers -- and they always turn out delicious. When my daughter moved to her own apartment she called dad to ask how to make COTR beans and was disappointed there was no recipe. But dad helped her make her first pot. "What do you have in your fridg?" And after pulling out several items she realized COTR beans were Clean Out The Refrigerator beans! We still laugh 15 years later.

      I call that “Kitchen Sink Soup”. It’s just all the little bits left over from meals. Everything but the kitchen sink. 😂 It always turns out delicious because it’s made from foods you like and serve.

    Great video! Tip from a blueberry grower: Blueberries do better if you DON'T wash them before freezing. Wash them just before eating them.

    I like to freeze the avocado whole...I buy a bag of them and throw the bag in the freezer...I thaw one out in the refrigerator overnight....when I cut in half the pit just fall right out and the avocado is actually soft and spreadable .... perfect for toast and eggs 😊

      I freeze them too. Just be sure they are more on the ripe side or they come out rubbery.

    Tip: The round indented circle on the side of the plastic milk containers is for expansion when freezing. No need to remove milk from the carton. The circle will handle the expansion. It works - I promise!

      But the indentation on the bottom of soda cans doesn't work. Ask me how I know. 🤣😂🤣.

      In Canada, sadly we don't have the circle for expansion on our milk containers.

    Glad to know that I am not the only who freezes almost all food. I even freeze green leafy vegies such as bok choy, baby mustard, peeled and cut green papayas. I am so happy that we have a good freezer that has never given us a problem since we bought it 17 years ago. I always buy food in season and meat on sale. That way I save a lot.

    You should freeze the halved and peeled avocados before vacuum sealing them just like you did with the eggs, this will stop them turning to mush when the air is sucked out.

      Freeze whole avocado, thaw quick and cut scoop, remove pit easier than fresh.

    Some great tips, thank you. I live in the UK and with the price of food going up every other day, we all need to preserve what we can and not waste what we have. Money is so tight for us all no matter what part of the world we live in so we have to look after every penny. I'm disabled and due to the price of car fuel and utility bills along with the price of food I'm having to cut right back just to survive. Thanks once again ❤️

      Me too, I am in the UK and was so pleased to come across this video. So much I could have frozen in the past, will be doing a lot more freezing down from now on. Cannot see us getting many 'deals' at the moment, everything is going sky high. Not only going up a few pence but by 75%.

    Food saver machines preserve food for months, years. I always vacuum seal my meats when I come home. Shrimp stays frost free if it’s vacuum packed. Chicken breasts I packaged in April I pulled out this month and they were just as good as a fresh one! Perfectly preserved, no freezer burn.

    Most of the work in chicken pot pie is preparing the filling, so I double my recipe and freeze one portion in a gallon bag. Works great.

    One thing I like to freeze is my chopped onions, carrots & celery. I do my one onion, 3-4 carrots, 3-4 celery all chopped or diced for my soups, & put them in a quart freezer bag. When I’m ready to cook my soup, having all the veggies ready to go makes it so fast. I cook my hamburger meat and shred up my chicken and freeze that for soup or casseroles, it goes even faster having the prep done and just drop it in the pot.       I can the cooked ground meat. Freezer not required. Works great for all dishes that call for a pound of cooked ground beef, like sloppy joes, h burger helper, dirty rice, ect

      I regularly make curry paste (basic) and freeze in one-meal batches. Chop onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic.. sauté in good amt of oil.. add a couple of spoons of turmeric (haldi as known locally), a couple of spoons salt. Store them in zip locks or small containers. This basically is the foundation of any Indian curry recipe

    I made several batches of peach pie filling when fresh peaches were in season. I froze most of the pie filling, and I recently made a peach pie in the dead of winter. The filling thawed out to be a little runny, but I just added a little cornstarch and baked it and it turned out great!

    Very inspiring, no-time-wasted video, filled with more info than my 70-year-old brain could retain with just one viewing! I live alone, fixed income, and am eating less to save money, and am freezing things more than ever before. I've been very pleased with cutting a peeled cantaloupe into 12 wedges, and freezing 8 of them in a plastic slider bag, touching as little as possible, and with most of the air squeezed out. One wedge is a serving for me, and I defrost in fridge or on countertop, depending on how soon I plan to eat it. I don't know how long they would last in the freezer, because I've always finished them by one month. They are delicious semi-frozen, like grapes, too. And now I LOVE knowing celery can be frozen successfully!!

      VaronaDee - I'm 66 and it's just me and hubby... Being retired and on a fixed income I buy on sale and use a FoodSaver to freeze in portions for two. I recently had surgery so I cooked up a storm before and packaged to make it easy for Hubby to put together some of our favorites that I usually cook! FoodSavers are great as there is no freezer burn/icing up so less waste when you 'loose' something in the back of the freezer! 😄

      I have frozen cream cheese and I find it is grainy when thawed. Not great straight but OK for cooking

      I’ve frozen sour cream,cottage cheese….tried 3x. They come out separated,runny mush. Tried the sour cream as a dip…ugh! Unappealing

      @@lilditty2172 My parents used to freeze our milk when we went camping in order to have it for cereal, and it was always unpleasant. It probably does work, you just have to be sure to have the time to let it thaw out ahead of time.

    Believe it or not, my mother used to freeze rice in a colander every time she cooked a big batch. She would wrap the entire colander of rice. Later in the week, she would run the rice under warm water, add it to a serving bowl, put some butter on top of it, and we would have it for dinner. It was great! I had forgotten about it until I saw this video. Thanks for inspiring a fond dinner memory. This video was great!!! I will be trying many of these and sharing this video.

    I freeze food in sandwich bags because they are so inexpensive, then I slip a couple of the sandwich bags into a freezer bag. This way, I can use the freezer bags over and over. Also, when I buy chicken or ground beef, I usually buy 1 lb. portions packaged individually and put those into gallon freezer bags. Keeps the meat from getting freezer burned.

    I like freezing bacon fat. 🥓 lable them as "fat pucks" 🥓
    Once I've cooked my bacon I pour it into a muffin tin. I'd say I fill each about 1/4 and then place in the freezer. Once they are solid I put them into a freezer bag. It's a good alternative to cooking with oil plus adds that extra flavor.

    I chop celery, carrots, and peppers and freeze them all the time. It saves me prep time when I’m cooking. I also freeze buttermilk in ice trays and pop it into a freezer bag. We never use a whole container of it at once, so it saves it from being wasted.

      I chop up and freeze my celery before the plants go to seed. Then I have an extra vege for stews and casserole.

      I love to roast my meats on a bed of mire pois. Whick is onion, carrots and celery in certain ratios.
      I freeze individual amts separately, and then just take what i need from each bag.
      The cooked mire pois and the roast juices is a heavenly sauce for a starch.

    Great tips! Thank you. I'll add that having a lemon tree, we never use them all up, so I juice them, place the juice into ice cubes, freeze, then place the frozen cubes into baggies and put back into the freezer. I like to take one cube out in the morning and place into warm water. And thanks to this video, I'll be zesting the too!

      I buy lemons and dehydrate the peels and grind them to powder and use in recipes and then dehydrate the lemons to use also

      I slice my lemons, (some into half-moons) open freeze on a paper-lined baking tray, pop frozen slices into a bag back into freezer. When it's time for a sundowner I place a slice in my husband's drink and a half-moon in mine, the plan being we know whose drink is whose. This plan has been known to go by the wayside after a second sundowner! I also cut them into manageable chunks for garnish squeezing, (ie on the side of the plate to squeeze over salads or fish) and freeze. They make great ice-cubes. I believe they can be frozen whole too, although I cut them into the pieces I know I'm going to be using them for later on. They are also identifiable if unlabelled. I always have a slice at the ready for a g & t or lemon tea should a friend pop over.

      Lime is always a problem for me. What to do with lime?? They turn brown before I could use them all. Can you freeze the quarter cuts and how do you defrost them and do they taste the same or are they freezer burned?

    Potato Chips! I keep freezing these to stop eating too much of it. I weigh out what I eat then save the freshness and the rest for another time. It works so well!

    I'm a freezer foodie!! Been doing this for years. My husband will ask me; "Do we have ______?"
    I say "Yes, check the freezer" My kids and husband would make fun of me with what I would by on sale and freeze but when they need it.....I've got it!! PERIOD!!
    Not only do I freeze milk, I also freeze orange juice, apple juice in the jug or carton.
    I also freeze both white sugar and brown sugar.
    Freezing eggs is going to be my next item! 😆

      Not many realize watermelon can be frozen however unless eaten frozen texture changes thus only smoothies quality.
      Bananas, grapes, all berries can be eaten frozen & berries can be added to baking recipes frozen i.e. breads, pancakes, waffles, etc

      My boyfriend's mom kept sending OJ with him when he visits on wkends. (He lives over 1hr away) So I started by opening and us having a glass for Sunday bfast then freezing them

    I've been freezing milk for years in smaller containers. There are only 2 of us and a gallon is too much at one time, so I pour into 3 smaller jugs & freeze. Also, been using Food Saver for years. They're GREAT! I wrap items in Saran, then vac seal. That way the bag is easily reused and each item is separated in the bag. Lots of good ideas and many that I already do.

    I have a custom decorated sugar cookie business. I freeze my cookie dough and royal icing all the time! Freezing the leftover royal icing was a game changer. Not only saves time later but also a ton of money. I've also been freezing butter for years! I learned from my MIL and never looked back! I'm definitely going to have to try freezing avocados. We have a tree in our yard and give a fair amount away but it always pains me when we have to use all of them in such short period, especially with how expensive they are at the grocery store.       I did the same with celery I got in a veggie basket! I don't always need what comes in the basket or have time to cook it up before going bad. I love the resourcefulness of freezing for when you need it.
      Do you have a preference on food saver bags? Name brand or off brand? I just inherited a food saver and it came with some bags. I plan on purchasing the jar sealing attachment too.

      If you rinse your celery bu dle and wrap in aluminium foil it stores very well in the fridge crisper. No idea where I learned this but it works.I have even done green onions this way.

      Another site mentioned the egg yolk being rubbery when thawing from frozen. She recommended scrambling the egg first. Of course this depends on how you plan to use the eggs.

    Hi Kim. I love to freeze my fresh herbs. When it’s the season to harvest or if I buy a bunch at the grocery, I often don’t use it all so I chop it all and freeze the left-overs in a ziploc bag or in ice cube trays with olive oil. If I need fresh basil for a sauce, I just pop in 1 or 2 cubes and boom, fresh herbs taste! Thank you for all your tips, tricks and yummy recipes! Watch you all the time! Say hi to Mr Toodles! Lol

    I also buy in bulk when there is a good price on cheese, butter and milk. I’ve learnt what is good to freeze by trial and error. My best tip is to par-cook my vegetables before Christmas and put them in my ‘Christmas Dinner’ freezer drawer. It’s such a time and stress saver. I parboil potatoes and put them in the roasting pan and coat in goose fat and tuck some herbs around them and they can go straight in the oven. I also make my stuffing from breadcrumbs collected in a bag in the freezer as and when. This is frozen straight into the baking dish. Same with caramelised spiced red cabbage. On Christmas Day there are no panics, pots, mess and stress!
    I was surprised about the eggs … I’m definitely going to try that!

    Brilliant video. One thing that actually blew me away was how you remove the excess fat from your minced meat during cooking. Use a set of tongs and kitchen paper, ingenious, for years I have been struggling with tipping it out of the pan 😂

      Yes, I have a septic system, and that method minimizes the amount of grease going down my pipes, therefore, minimizing the risk of clogs. Thanks for that. I had been collecting drippings in a can and throwing them in the dumpster.

    I freeze most of these things too...helps so much. My problem is having enough freezer space, because I freeze so much.
    I've only had a freezer for a little over a year, don't know how I made it without one.
    My husband and grands love ice cream, so we know how that goes.
    I use a lot of onion, celery, and bell peppers, in recipes I love having them chopped up and ready to go in recipes.
    I freeze eggs by two's, and milk by the cup, flat in small freezer bags. So much better than wasting. I freeze so much butter, and cheese.
    I also flash freeze potatoes...so helpful, and time saving when preparing a meal to have them ready to go.
    I live rural...a freezer is truly a blessing for me...and a generator...and pray I never need the generator.

    Amazing video! I’ve been doing this for years. My family thinks I’m weird for saving foods…what I like to do is freeze tomato paste,pesto, heavy cream in cube form…put them in ice trays for later use since I only use table spoons at a time for a recipe. Best food hack ever.

      Re: your family. Show them how you're saving $$ by being all squirrel-like with the groceries. Save the receipts from grocery trips, then ask them to show you theirs. If you have fewer receipts with lower totals, and they can't match that, they're gonna be eating their words, proverbially speaking. Or if they continue to think you're weird, let 'em. They're gonna find out, sooner or later that you've got it goin' on with your frugality game. 😎

    Kimmie, we recently had an unexpected family emergency and those pizza kits saved the day. We make our with half AP flour and half white wheat flour. I definitely recommend keeping them around if there’s freezer space available.

    Glad this came up in my rotation. I've always wondered what food items are freezable. I often freeze butter, cottage cheese and blocks of cheese when on sale but you've mentioned so many other items that do well. Now my only problem is that my side by side freezer compartment is way too small. 🤷🏽

      I'm lucky I have two large fridge freezers and I freeze so much as I live alone and I bulk shop I need to stock up on ziplock bags next time I shop I've never had frozen milk go lumpy and also make pancakes batter and freezer till I fancy I only freeze in a small bottle so it doesn't take too long to thaw even if the pack say don't freeze I still do with no problems

    Grated cheese is something I've frozen for a long time now. I found that after a week the little bags would get moldy in the fridge so I started to freeze my cheese when I first buy it. It lasts weeks/till it gets used now.

    Just found your channel, searching prepping. I'm an older woman who has cooked from scratch all my life, and I was impressed not so much with what can be frozen (sorry!), but seeing you use tongs to absorb grease when cooking sausage. Brilliant! I am going to start doing that! I freeze flour in the bag after purchasing it, to kill anything that shouldn't be in there. Great video!

    I regularly freeze cooked ground beef and/or sausage. Then just pop it in the microwave for 2 minutes to thaw or 3 min. to thaw/warm. It works great especially if you work full time. I usually buy 4 family packs of HB at a time and cook them when I get home, drain the grease off them and put them in gallon freezer bags. This will last us 3-4 mo. depending on how often we eat a HB meal. This is such a time saver.

    I have frozen pasta for quite a while now. When I’m cooking some up I cook up a lot and then portion it, freeze on a tray and then pop it in a bag. I have heard this is actually healthier for you, there is some sort of chemical reaction that takes place when you reheat pasta that makes it easier for our bodies to digest.

    I love to freeze peppers! I freeze it in thin fajita slices, and also chunky wider slices for use in making pepper onion and sausage sandwiches on New Year’s Day (Philly girl here). Either style is sliced, laid out on cookie sheets, pooped in the freezer, and put into freezer bags. I do them when on sale. Red, green, yellow, and orange.

      Just a quick tip - when freezing diced peppers or onions, no need to freeze them on a tray. I put them right into a freezer gallon bag and toss in the freezer. As long as you don't stuff the bag full, they freeze up just fine and you can easily grab what you need 😁

      Have you looked into Water Glassing? it makes the eggs shelf stable so you dont have to use freezer space.

      You can freeze already mashed potatoes in a plastic container (don’t use cool whip or anything like that), one of those glad kind or bigger.
      When you take potatoes out to thaw or microwave, you will need to add a bit more butter and maybe a splash of milk and fold into heated potatoes.

    I learned a few years ago that I can freeze yeast, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Just put the unused tomato sauce or paste in a baggie and flatten them out before placing in the freezer. This works great if the recipe calls for a small amount of sauce or paste. They last a long time in the freezer.

    Way back in the 70's, I took frozen tuna or chicken salad sandwiches 🥪 to work. I worked 3p-11p,so by the time I was ready to eat around 7 it was thawed and still cold (I had it in a small cooler). One tip that I learned back thten was that since mayonnaise didn't freeze well, to use sour cream instead. It worked great! I actually preferred it over mayonnaise , especially in chicken salad.

    Good video! Here’s a crazy one to add: potato chips! Although we don’t eat them often, a few years ago I had a big unopened bag left from a party. I saw a video saying potato chips could be frozen, but that sounded goofy to me. I figured they’d come out mushy. The bag I did my experiment on was in the freezer for over a year! The chips were perfect! Still had snap to them. I couldn’t tell the difference. I figured they’d be limp, pathetic blobs. Nope-good as new!

    I loved your video. I discovered I could freeze a few things that I never knew I could freeze. Here is one you may have missed. I love cookies and milk but I always bake my own because I have about six fantastic cookie recipes. Unfortunately it’s just me now so I can’t eat four dozen cookies. I discovered that I can make the cookie dough, roll it into balls and freeze them on a large cookie sheet for a few hours, then take them out and put them in a Ziploc bag squeezing as much air out as possible. Be sure to mark the bag with the kind of cookie, and the time and temperature to bake then put three or four in your toaster oven when you want a few cookies. You always have fresh warm cookies whenever you want them and the dough lasts for six months in your freezer.

    I freeze a lot of garden fresh produce during the bumper season, when I'm too busy to can it. When I have time to can later in the year, there they are, ready to go! This is also great for when I have too small an amount to bother canning. Freeze all the small amounts until you have enough for a canning session.
    A trick I learned a few years ago for freezing my tomatoes: Cut a tiny X into the bottom blossom end of the tomato before freezing. As the fruit thaws, the skin will slip right off. Easier than blanching. Frozen tomatoes, thawed, peeled, drained and chopped, make great "fresh" salsa in the dead of Winter. What a luxury!

    When my girls were little, I made a week’s worth of peanut butter (their favorite!) sandwiches, some with jelly, some with mashed up banana mixed into the peanut butter. I would also peel bananas, cut in half, and place them in snack bags to freeze. It was like eating a banana fudgecycle! Anyone else remember those? This was done on Sunday evening. Then in the morning, just grab a sandwich, a frozen banana, and a bag of chips from the pantry, and presto! Lunch was in the bag!

    I freeze fresh pineapple slices .. fresh mango slices - whole lemons - whole onions in their skin - I live in QLD Australia and pineapple and mango are seasonal. They are a lovely treat when frozen and out of season. I have pumpkin slices in my freezer also. Going to try the mashed potato, cheese and corn after seeing your video. I don’t have the freezer space you do though, so it won’t be in volume. Thanks for the information, it has been helpful in these times. 🌻

    I freeze pasta as well. My grandkids love making stuffed shells. I cook a large amount of them then freeze them. Easy to thaw and they enjoy stuffing them with their cheese n meat creation. They’re always excited to take dinner home to share with mom n dad.

    Raw Ginger freezes perfectly for months.
    I also freeze cut-up lemongrass, galanga, and Kaffir lime leaves.
    Great for making authentic Thai soups whenever you wish.

    Loved it! I freeze chipotles in adobo in ice cube trays because my intestines would be perforated if I used a whole can in a recipe. I also like to buy day old donuts at our favorite amish bakeries and freeze. Before my fresh cilantro goes bad, I tear off the good leaves and put in ice cube trays with just a little bit of water. Great for salsa and soups.

    Use ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese in lasagna … a tip from an Italian cook! Love your ideas !!!

      I haven't finished the video. I didn't realize that there were monsters out there that use cottage cheese for that. Even my mother uses ricotta as one of the cheeses. The only reason I can imagine somebody using cottage cheese is because it's on hand.

    I love to freeze everything! At first, my husband was very skeptical, but now he never says a word. Lol! I love to freeze baked muffins and cookies for a quick treat or breakfast (I make oatmeal breakfast cookies), I also freeze homemade pancake and waffle mixes to cut down on a step when whipping them up. Lately, I’ve been adding my produce scraps to a freezer bag for making broth. Great video to get people thinking about another way to preserve food! Thank you for sharing!

    I make peppers and onion kits for sandwiches or hot sausage. They are very convenient. Baked potatoes and twice baked potatoes. Cook them the whole way. Put on a sheet and freeze. Then vacuum seal. Already cooked meat. Meatloaf…form it and freeze on sheet pan, then vacuum seal. Makes quick and easy meals. Stuffed peppers and cabbage rolls.

    Thank you very much for your educational video. There’s really only two things that I do not freeze, lettuce, and milk. I always have a delightful bakery box tied with a ribbon full of muffins, scones, cookies, bar cookies. It makes a delightful lifestyle to always have something to pull out and share wherever I go visiting. I serve my grocery clerks a treat on my grocery day.

    Lots of helpful ideas. I started freezing in portions so that I only have to take out the amount I want to use each time. I started "cup" portion freezing method for myself. A snack bag is one cup, a sandwich bag is 2 cups (or usually one portion per person), 3-4 cups for a medium freezer bag, and a full large freezer bag for larger or slow cooker meals. Everything labelled before it goes in the freezer so that its quick to use. I have done the same with some of my pantry items especially if we are taking them to our trailer. So that method means I don't have to measure ingredients. Just take the out the portion needed at the time. I've saved so much time doing this. (Also in the case of dry ingredients I reuse the baggies for the same item again so not to have to throw away the baggies all the time. -for example spices, rice, pasta, beans type of thing.)

      When I worked outside the home sometimes I'd freeze casserole portions in snack bags. It was just enough so I wasn't hungry and not so much that I felt bloated and sleepy.

      After my baggies get unusable for food, I use them one last time. I put wet food and other items that usually smell up your trash in them. Egg shells, chicken bones, the parts of vegetables that get thrown out, used tea bags and coffee grounds, you name it. My trash smells better until I can get it out, and if the bag might break - I just have to pick up baggies, instead of hosing everything down.

      @@Trid2bnrml1 . Great idea. I going to start doing that. When I save back the used up bags for icky trash, I'm going to put them in the freezer. No need to clean them the last time, no smell, plus I can tell which ones are for the trash items. I often freeze my empty blueberry bags, then just refill when I buy more. Not forever, but for several uses.

    When I froze milk, I defrosted it on the counter. That is a no no. It separated and no amount of shaking it brought it back to its original form. BUT! When I defrosted it in the refrigerator, no separation, tasted just like it did before freezing. Just freeze in smaller portions, like in a plastic drinking bottle, that way you have enough to use till you get to the store to buy more milk. If you defrost large portions, it takes forever to defrost in the refrigerator. She's right about butter, I freeze that all the time. That and bread always come back like before it was put in.

      @@arch1752 It shouldn't be as long as you've got it properly sealed. But, there's little point in freezing bread unless you're planning on toasting it afterwards. Commercial bread will last the better part of a month in a refrigerator without going moldy. Very few people need to keep it around longer than that. At that point, the effort of thawing and freezing would be a massive pain.

      Hi Abby, what I found with the milk is like you said defrost in the fridge that works great but what I do is ill throw the milk bags in the sink wit cold water and the milk defrost beautifully. I've been doing this from the last 25 years. I will buy a few extra bags when on special as I make a lot of home made natural yogurt also.

    Thank you for this video, down size and living in a small camper now and have learned so much since down sizing. Help in a food pantry and learned a lot of this from people I worked with and 66 and still learning. Live in Florida and love learning to garden. With the price of everything going up it's so hard to throw away anything. Milk I learned to freeze it, it last longer I do let it set out til can fit in area of place in fridge were it goes. Celery glad to know I can freeze it only use it during holidays and usually borrow 3 stalks from a neighbor, now will be able to try new recipes. Will thank you for all your help, now will try some more of your freezer meals

    Hi Kimmy..my name is Candy. You are living my dream making videos. I love ♥ your tips on prep, planning and organization. I wanted to share a couple of important tips I learned about:
    FIRST- use a clean fork when pulling lunch meat from bags and containers. It helps your lunch meat stay FRESH much longer.
    SECOND
    When you cut your Blick cheese use a paper towel when handling the cheese then place the cheese into the ziploc bag using the paper towel again in handling. Do this each time you handle your block cheese and it will stay fresh much longer.
    Hope these tips help.

    I have a food saver like yours and recently experimented with freezing peeled cubed potatoes without par boiling them. I left them in the freezer for about 2 weeks then cooked them. They never turned brown on me and tasted normal when I made mashed potatoes out of them.

      Vacuum sealing is such a time saver and huge money saver for sure! I have wondered if I could do that with all these extra potatoes I have right now but you beat me to it. Thank for sharing that!!

      So potatoes by themselves can be frozen cubed? That's awesome...whenever I've tried freezing potato salad the texture is ruined.

      @@cherylrobinson517 it has something to do with the fact that I vacuum sealed them. I have tried to just freeze potatoes before without the par cooking method and they were awful. When I vacuum sealed them, I just chopped them, sealed them and popped them in the freezer

    Love your tips, very helpful. I freeze rice also. I spread out cooled rice on parchment covered cookie sheet, freeze, break it up then put in large freezer bag. Then I use a rubber mallet to loosen large chucks. When I need I pour desired amount in bowl, cover and microwave several minutes and then fluff with fork. I find it has enough moisture because it's been frozen. Quinoa freezes well also
