I wished I had of grown up on a farm! My Grandma had a farm where they took care of cattle. Best times of my life remembered. Thank you so much for how to freeze corn on the Husk...and love your video. Gifting your product is so very sweet! Bless you and your family!
I know this video is old but i just stumbled upon it. (2023 now) i was trying to confirm that this method of freezing it works. Got a corn sale here where i live 4/$1 at one of our local stores. I live a few miles from an Amish produce auction which "usually" is my go to and cheaper than stores. (Surprisingly, Not this time) The microwave cooking is awesome! Tastes fresher and the silk just comes off so easy. I take a paper towel and literally just slide down the corn and off comes the husk and silk. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇲
My husband and I watched this last year when we were able to get corn for three dollars a dozen. Always hated freezing corn on the cob because the texture was always mushy upon thawing. Your method worked so incredibly well. Still crunchy when thawed. And tasted great. Thank you so much.
Do you just thaw it out and cook it which ever way you cook fresh corn? (Boil, bbq in husk etc) I’ve never been able to get corn on the cob frozen right. Was hoping he would show how it thaws out. Thanks
@@Red_Foxx101 normally I’d do all of the above to prepare it. But once we froze it we cooked it two ways so far. The boiling water method and the microwave. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work grilled though. Hope that helps
Thanks for serving in the AF. I served as a flight medic in the AF myself transporting the wounded. I farmed for ten years after I came home from overseas. Best job ever for someone who wanted to be left alone .
just stumbled on this video since corn is now in season...i'm disabled last 30yrs but a new illness has be barely standing and i'm Italian-American and cooking was my passion, i wanted my own garden like my mother had when i was growing up and going to the farmers in NY State where we lived (i live in TX now in an area far from farmers and it's incredibly HOT, here for the doctors otherwise would be back in NY State with 3ish seasons!! ha)...i digress....but I LOVE MY NURSES....so much that when they leave for whatever reason i get upset and cry...it's like losing a family member...so i want to thank you for your Military Service but moreso for being a nurse...it is a noble profession and takes compassionate people to be one!! i know you said you don't sell your corn but if you did i'd pay for a huge box so i can freeze it....especially since going shopping is so painful i can't walk for days afterwards....that's using the handicap cart...oh my life...anyway if you do please consider
Thank you for your service. Love these ideas. Just bought a fresh bag of corn. Will be busy tomorrow. Yes, I will be giving some of this corn away too. More than we need.
Josh, as always mate you are a rare fair dinkum blook, as we true old aussies would say, more power to you, been watching u since u had about 100 subs, I,m in Thailand been here with the wife for 25yrs, we are nicely setup on about 10acres, grew up on the farm like yourself, keep swinging mate great to see the place grewing. we are self sufecient, veg, fish chooks and pigs, and the odd monkey, usually the grandkids, have a great trip, nothing like a goos yarn when your a old bugger, dosnt everyone talk to themselves, hell yeah, cheers
i did that one year. I thought the corn in the shuck tasted grassy. Much preferred to shuck and freeze. Tried blanching too and that was a lot of work for no better corn. Do it the easy way. shuck and freeze
I'm so happy I just bought some corn from these farmer's and I'm assuming nothing was sprayed on the corn but its a nice feeling just buying fresh food locally. Thank you all for what you do!
This video reminded me so much of my childhood. My granddaddy would show up to our house every summer with his huge red station wagon full of corn. Filled to the roof from the back of that car to the font passenger seat. Over 700 ears of corn. My 4 siblings and I would sit in a circle around a big pile of corn in the garage along with my Daddy and Grandaddy. They would cut the ends off and we would pass them around and shuck them. Mom would be in the kitchen with a huge stock pot full of boiling water and a sink full of ice water. The other sink had a huge bowl with a corn stripped laid across it. She would strip that corn and put it in freezer bags. Those 700+ ears of corn would be just enough to get our family if 7 through to the next harvest. We never ate store bought vegetables. We picked and canned tomatoes, black eyed peas, snap beans, pickles, beets, collard greens, and many more. Jellies, jam….whatever grew in the panhandle of Texas. I loved every minute of it!
We lived in Salt Lake for years and my ears perked up when you said you lived in Clearfield. Silver queen is one of our favorite corn too; started planting it in North Carolina in the ‘70s and now we plant a hybrid that we order from gurneys’s seeds. It’s even better.
I bet that trick with a bit of husk around the corn is gonna work great! As a kid my parents always put bare ears in plastic bags like you. Then put 5-6 of those bags inside a double paper bag before dropping in the freezer. The 2 layers of paper provided a tiny bit of "insulation" that reduces freezer burn. (works great for bread, too!) I bet the husk does the same thing in your "partially peeled" corn AWESOME!
Where can you get paper bags anymore!! Just found your You Tube video Stoney Ridge Farmer, and I loved it and you. I went to the link to order a "Stupid Should Hurt" tshirt - offer is expired :( I hope you didn't go broke and Mrs Farmer killt you!!!

Hi, came by your video, and found it very interesting and of course informative! I especially enjoyed hearing about your Service to our country in the Air Force! I was also in the Air Force as a Security Policeman and served for almost 22 years before retirement. I just subscribed to your Channel so that I can learn more.
you shuck the corn, steam it till completely cooked and cut it off the cob and then freeze it... freezing while on the cob wastes a lot of freezer space

Yes, please do a comparison video. I froze my corn in the husk and it was really soggy when I thawed it. It was good when cooked as far as flavor but the kernals were a bit mushy. Maybe different types of corn freeze differently, I'm not sure but would love to find the BEST way to freeze corn.
I'm 51 now, and growing up on a small dairy farm we always grew sweet corn for us along with the silage corn for the cows. My mom would freeze corn both on and off the cob. But she would always blanch it first ( she would put the ears in boiling water for a short time.) She said it had to be done, I can't remember why. If I remember, I'll ask. I noticed that you are not. My former brother-in-law's family farmed thousands of acres and started a freezer plant. And they would blanch their vegetables before freezing also. Dad is 80 and mom is 74, their garden larger now than I was a kid. They don't seem to slow down. I hope I can do the same thing when I retire. I can get out in two years (I will hit my at age 53 with 31 years in the union. And I'm ready ). I love your videos and I plan on watching the series on processing the hog.
If you have more fresh sweet corn than you need, let some of it dry on the stalk until it dents. Makes super parched corn. Way better than field corn. It's a super snack and wonderful munching.
Yeah I like the idea of keeping the leaves on to keep it from getting freezer burn that’s a great idea that’s what I wanted to see i’m going to try that next time I freeze my corn it gets eaten up in no time but for one thing I ain’t got to worry about it being freezer burnt that is awesome thanks for sharing🥰💕👍
Thank you so much for showing this to me... I have been shucking some of the ugliest corn I have ever bought from a farmers market for the past 3 days (Now I know why it was on sale). I bought two bushels of it (about 60 ears)... I truly wish I knew someone with some goats I could have fed all of this to. My son, God bless his heart, finally went to the grocery store and bought me some corn. So for the next few days, I am going to be prepping some of it the way you showed and some of it has to come off the cob, so I will be taking care of those also. I learned from you. Exactly that's what we need. I am sending fresh ears of corn to my daughter who lives from another city and we don't know how to keep it fresh. Thanks!
Cutting off so much corn makes certain you won’t see too many worms, but using BT allows me to eat all my corn. *But I also grow super small patches of corn no larger than a 10 x 10
Ive had the best corn of my life here in Japan. Unfortunately i paid roughly 15$ for 5 ears of corn. So if they ever lower price a little i will grab a bunch to freeze. If its not in season here you dont get it so fingers crossed cost goes down.
Last season I tried to freeze my corn on the Cobb and when cooked it was soft and watery. What went wrong? The corn that I shucked and then froze was fine
I used to freeze it all the time, when we had our big garden, still do. Just put it in a zip bag ,without air pocket and freeze. Do not thaw just cook in water or on the grill or micro.
Josh, You should get a hold of a couple of record companies get that song out of there get a record label it's that good ! Love sweet 🌽 unfortunately the farmer next to us only grows that Monsanto crap I won't eat that ! General repair

A piece of advice the corn frozen with the husk on will taste like the husk. Your goats will like them this winter.
3 years later the corn was still great
I learned from you. Exactly that's what we need. I am sending fresh ears of corn to my daughter who lives from another city and we don't know how to keep it fresh. Thanks!
God bless farmers! Wondering how we can reuse those zip lock bags. TFS!
Wash em n dry em when you have used the contents. I do mine in freezer paper. Never have been a fan of plastic.
We reuse freezer bags all the time. We simply wash them and hang them to dry.
I was once told that eating uncooked sweetcorn was poisonous, but was took a bite straight as soon as you picked it! Is it safe to eat uncooked then?
Last season I tried to freeze my corn on the Cobb and when cooked it was soft and watery. What went wrong? The corn that I shucked and then froze was fine
I used to freeze it all the time, when we had our big garden, still do. Just put it in a zip bag ,without air pocket and freeze. Do not thaw just cook in water or on the grill or micro.
Like just picked!

No doubt, I was going to comment that you should let us hear more songs if you got em. I find myself humming this one while I'm working..lol.
Build an A-frame for the post hole drill. That way you can suspend it from the top, not having to wrestle with it hooking it up to your tractor.
Trying it tonight. Wish me luck lol
