I had a wreck at 16 doing 85mph or so while listening to this album. Rolled the car, got tossed from it and knocked out. When I woke up I was above the car on a dirt bank looking down at the car (it was nighttime) lights on, wheels spinning and Shout at the Devil playing on 10. Pure Metal....glad I survived the 80s.
You had some saints of Los Angelos watching over you
AWESOME...
You were more fortunate than Razzle of Hanoi Rocks then. Glad you were blessed that day! 🙏🏻
U were lucky
Motley crue only band to make me go 91mph at midnight
I can't hear this song without hearing this first,
In the beginning
Good always overpowered the evils
Of all man's sins...
But in time
The nations grew weak
And our cities fell to slums
While evil stood strong
In the dusts of hell
Lurked the blackest of hates
For he whom they feared
Awaited them...
Now many many life times later
Lay destroyed beaten beaten down
Only corpses of rebels
Ashes of dreams
And blood stained streets...
It has been written
"Those who have the youth
Have the future"
So come now children of the beast
Be strong
And shout at the devil......
There that's more like it, lol.
Yes!
Ya I was hoping for the intro too.
Hell, yeah!!!!!!!!
Lmao, I totally forgot about that!!
Nice!! I was thinking the same thing!
Shout is a great album, every song is great. If you haven’t give Ten Seconds To Love a listen it’s off the same album.
Yes also too young to fall in love album, they have a few really great albums in my opinion.
Best one for sure
You guys need to react to stuff off of their first album Too Fast for Love. I still think it's their best album, every song is great.
DEFINITELY!!!! It is without a doubt their best album. Every single song is killer on that record. Can't say that about any of their other albums. Even Shout at the Devil had 1 or 2 filler songs. And Theater of Pain is all garbage except for Home Sweet Home. Cheers mate.
Motley Crue always have said they were very lucky because the album to them was line a demo album.
I wanted them to react to the intro also...
Totally agree. I liked the production of it. It was very raw. It sounds like it was made in the garage. Banging.
No doubt the first album was the best, followed by the second, and then downhill from there.
I saw Motley Crue performed this song shortly after this album's release, during day two of the US festival in 1983. It was a great lineup, featuring Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Triumph, Van Halen, The Scorpions, Joe Walsh and of course Motley Crue.
MC now

Damn, your lucky. I saw them during the theater of pain tour.
US '83 'metal day' alum here 🤘
Shout At The Devil is my favorite Crue album. Heaviest one they ever did !!
I was there too. It's one of my best memories.
Ahhhh born in 68 this was my high school music...great to see the younger gen checking it out ..keep up the hard work guys...
This album was my first exposure to Motley Crue as I had seen the "Looks That Kill" video on MTV. This is one of those songs that has to be played at full volume in your car. Right before this song is the eerie "In The Beginning" then the opening riff for "Shout At The Devil" kicks in. My 18 year old self was blown away in 1983 by this great album.
parents everywhere were flippin out about heavy metal. Crue and ozzy were at the top of their list. we just gave those parents the finger as we drove past them listening at 100 decibels
:}
This album was rocket fuel on that fire too. Lol
This was the first album I ever heard by Motley Crue. Freshman in high school. And so it began. Bye bye, Rick Springfield, Hello Motley Crue! Been a metal head ever since. \m/
This was the first CD I bought back then, once I was able to afford a CD player, I owned it on cassette already. Classic album.
This was my third album...behind 1. AC/DC For those about to rock and 2. DIO Holy Diver. Knew word for word In The Beginning....wish they'd started with that
@@bethshadid2087 Yes! I know it word for word also. It's not complete without the intro for 80's kids.
@@loristone9242 so true
Man this was one of my favorites back in the day. Listening on cassette in my 1985 Nissan 300 zx. 🤘🏼
That Shout, Shout, Shout chorus has played in the background of probably 100 movies. It could be that your sub conscious latched onto it there, it is catchy
I got lucky many years ago and got to see Montley Crue in concert, it was so freaking amazingly fun to listen to. Loved this song and Girls, Girls, Girls in concert especially. Was for the tour they called Red, White, and Crue. Still got the ticket stub.
When I got this album my grandma had the Preacher come to the house and pray at me. Frickin weird!
One of the best yet most overlooked metal tracks ever.
Only album I have of Motley Crue
Those first 2 Motley Crue albums were so good.
Yes they were!
Hands down motleys best album. Every song rocks , in the 80s I listened to this album back to back non stop.
I was a freshman in high school when Shout at the Devil came out. Armed with that cassette, Def Leppard - Pyromania, Van Halen - Diver Down, AC DC - Back in Black, and my Panasonic Boom Box, I was ready to ROCK!
Brings me back to my early childhood in the late 80’s and reminds of one of my favorite movies Idle Hands
*You probably just recognized their sound. It's easy to have a familiarity to a song you've never heard when you know who's singing it. Plus this song has been played a million times over the years in a million different places. You could've heard it somewhere before.*
When this album came out I was 11. Listened to it over and over and over. Still love it.
I love Motley Crue's early stuff (later stuff is good too), and this one is my favorite. Also their cover of the Beatle's Helter Skelter..which I actually like better than the Beatle's one..don't hate me, lol. Vince Neil's voice is incredible and very unique
Agreed. Coming home from Afghanistan in 2011 I introduced a bunch of privates to 'home sweet home' and they adopted as their anthem. Lol
The intro In The Beginning helps add flavor to this song
Heard this song on KISW in seattle and it scared the crap out of me.. As soon as i heard "looks that kill" I was hooked.
This album was my introduction to Motley Crue and they grabbed my interest immediately! Got to see them on this tour in a tiny little place in Denver called the Rainbow Music Hall, basically the size of a large movie theater. It's long gone, there's a strip mall there now, but every time I drive by the memories come flooding back. Awesome show!!
"Was it a Motorhead cover?" Don't know why it's so fun watching you guys grow. Making references to bands you had no idea about even 6 months ago. Makes the songs fun to listen to again.
the exposure they got opening metal day at the festival..... priceless. I remember watching on tv completely blown away.
Makes me wanna go to the bar tonight listening to Motley Crue right now. Rock on Brad & Lex
Saw them in concert, with my mom, grandmother and father. Great concert
This, twisted sister, and Michael Jackson Thriller album were some of my first purchased albums. 1983/84 time frame. I was six and the album cover use to freak me out had a pentagram on it!!!!
its songs and albums like this that gave crue their legitimacy!!🤘🤟 proved they were well beyond their glam rock image and way above the level of similar bands then and since that they could genuinely rock heavy!!😉🤘🤟
SEEN THE CRUE 6 TIMES. TOMMY LEE BAD ASS ON THEM DRUMS..BEST CONCERT I HAVE BEEN TOO.. CRUE HAS SOME AWESOME VIDEOS. A MUST WATCH.. LEX YOU WILL LOVE THEM LIVE..
I was 10 when this came out. I was listening to Duran Duran and Lionel Ritchie. A friend played this and it scared the shit out of me.
I was at this show for my 21st birthday.
I love VAN HALEN, but folks they were not very good this night.
Day 2 (Sunday, May 29th 1983) was dubbed “Heavy Metal Day,” with Quiet Riot; Mötley Crüe; Ozzy Osbourne; Judas Priest; Triumph, Scorpions; and Van Halen.
"...they were not very good this night." That's putting it diplomatically :)
Our heavy metal band played this back when I was a teen at the time of its release (I was bass). It was always a kinda thin line to walk, being fans of Metallica and their genre, along with fans of this, the glam that was coming out of LA that the other genre was making a war with; the tight jeans and dirty hair scumbags vs the makeup, hairspray, glam dudes. We embraced both at the fan level.
These guys were awesome live
"were" being the key word in that sentence. Check out the Motley Crue misheard lyrics videos and be prepared to laugh your ass off
My first favorite hard rock song when I was 7
Very popular band in High School, it was Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Motley Crue
This song blew my mind when it came out! 🤘
Motley Crue are absolute legends of the 80's. This is actually a cool upload! You two are absolutely the best.
Bought this cd when it came out and played it to death and loud. Looks That Kill and Too Fast For Love are also pretty good.
Cassette👍
I doubt that it was a cd when it came out in 83.
Motley Crue's On With the Show, Live Wire, Too Young to Fall in Love, Take Me to the Top, Starry Eyes, Helter Skelter(Beatles cover).
You did LOOKS THAT KILL from the same album. This was the album that turned me into a Metalhead in 1985, my freshman year. Then I heard Powerslave by Maiden and it was all over.
I think Lex might be remembering when they did Billy Squier's "The Stroke", which has a similar shouting part.
Other great Crue songs to check out - Too Fast For Love, Piece of your Action, Too Young to Fall in Love, Smoking in the Boys Room, You're All I Need, Same Ol Situation, Dr Feelgood, Primal Scream, If I Die Tomorrow, Smoke the Sky (a nin Vince song), Hell on High Heels, and Saints of Los Angeles.
Need to do a song off of their first album (their best album to me) Motley Crue - Live Wire
Now y'all are gettin into some of my jams.
I was 12 in '83, on a routine trip with my mom to the record store.
She always let me pick one.
I saw the all black album cover with the baphomet inverted pentagram on the front, and these wild lookin dudes on the back (one of whom was the inspiration for Aerosmith's Dude Looks Like a Lady... apparently Vince Neill from the back is quite the hottie, lol).
Mom took one look at it and said if I wanted it I had to buy it myself.
Challenge accepted...
The very next weekend I rode my bike up to the local golf course and enrolled in their caddy training.
In a couple more weeks I had my Shout At the Devil record :)
Must be deja vu! Sounds kinda like an old song by Bad Company called Rock Steady!
The longer version is the one you need to check out.
Yes yes.
I saw Crue on their tour for this album. They killed.
This song was in an episode of Stranger Things. If you watched that, Lex, it may be where you heard it before.
In the beginning good always overpowered the evils of all man’s sins. But in time the nations grew weak and our cities fell to slums while evil stood strong. Only corpses of rebels, ashes of dreams and blood stained streets. In the dusts of hell lurks the blackest of hates. For he whom you fear awaits you! It has been written that those that have the youth have the future. So come now children of the beast be strong and SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!
That is the opening narration to this album… and song.
I loved playing this on guitar hero.
I saw these guys on this album tour, Theater of Pain and Dr. Feelgood tours too. Checkout Primal Scream and Don't Go Away Mad.
The very first music video I ever saw on Mtv....woke up for high school and turned on to check it out while getting ready and BAM! Lex you need to check out Motorhead "Deaf Forever"....It think you would really like that groove.
This was a big naughty deal when it came out. My brother was grounded for playing it. Lol.
This was me and my friends music growing up! Those were the days!
If I haven't heard of this song, and was reviewing it for the first time. I would say, this is the type of song, that you have to have it loud in your car. Even at a stop light and a cop just pulled up beside you lol
Crue is so epic, people are hearing it without ever hearing it
Hearing them without hearing them sounds like pure bliss.
This is what you want in rock band 🎸 one best rock guitar players in world good singer and the band
I found my Dad's copy of this tape when I was 7 or 8. Followed by the "In the Beginning" intro, I thought it was the coolest thing.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Lex feels Deja vu......Or does she?...Either way, hard rock riffs and strong vocals bring Brad to a boil as he cooks up his signature "side to side sway" while Lex gets back in the game offering her hand work during her "Motley bop".
Strong vocals then maybe. Have you watched the Motley Crue Misheard lyrics videos? Lololol.
If not then trust me you should!

@@LN-Lifer 🤣🤣🤣My god that was hilarious!.....Or better yet "Find Rob's hat of canary piss".
@@smittybenzo4693 there are more and all hilarious. There is another Dr Feelgood with added graphics and even Wayne and Garth make a quick appearance (well sorta). I've laughed my ass off so many times to these vids
@@smittybenzo4693 check this out. It's not exactly the same because it's the actual studio song but I promise you there is one line in there that will change the way you sing the song forever

When Motley was heavy! Great album!
I dunno why but the little cymbal choke at 2:58 (was it a mistake, Tommy Lee?) has always fascinated the hell outta me when it comes to this song. Anyway, there's really no way to express how "badass" everyone thought this tune was back in 1983. We've all grown up since then, of course, but I think it still holds up pretty good.
Love this song. Adults HATED the album cover so much that lots of churches bought and burned thousands of copies.
Lol, I've always thought how stupid the churches were, spend your money (which goes to the music) and burn it... the bands are laughing all the way to the bank...lol
The second album for Crue but the first for me....my introduction to them if you will. Wish y'all had heard the intro into this song....In The Beginning spoken by Allister Fiend....really gives you goosebumps.....knew every word. Imo this was the best album they cut......got to see them in concert in early 90s and when Tommy Lee took "flight" while drumming upside down was awesome 😎
Those dudes are wild.
I saw a the shout out the devil concert when I was like 14 years old it was badass!!😎💯
Great Album all around.
In Lex's defense, a lot of Motley Crue's songs sound similar in parts.
Lol. No they don’t.
Was also reminding me of Running with the Devil. Different band.. but both say devil and share a similar tone in a couple of guitar riffs. A mid-pitch chord being sustained.
She's thinking of looks that kill
I’m sure you guys reacted to Motley Crüe’s song Helter Skelter or Looks That Kill which have a similar sound.
You guys should have listened to In The Beginning before this. It's the intro to Shout At The Devil on the album.
Might be confusing it for Kickstart my heart that yall did🔥🔥
Motley Crue could make your top 5 80s rock bands and concerts , Lex !!,
You did Looks That Kill from the same album. Plus u did Wild Side which was later Crue.
I believe you did Looks That Kill on stream; same album.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Zimmer's Hole - While you were shouting at the devil.
Is a great fallow up reaction
I saw rhem with Alice Cooper it awesome, and yes you did do it awhile ago . Much love Brandi Modrak. 💘 you need to show Girls, Girls Girls ,Looks can kill, and Smoking in the Boys Room. Love yall
Definitely my favorite Mötley Crüe track 🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽🔥
I love your sister dude. Respect.
THE CRUE!!!🤘
Motley Crue has a very distinct sound so that is way their songs might sound similar, Check out Dr Feelgood another Banger 🔥🔥🔥

@@liljizu4262 that sucks
Motley Crue will get you so fired up. Their early stuff is amazing, especially off Too Fast For Love album. And if you haven't already watched The Dirt (on Netflix) you MUST!
This was my last album on vinyl.
I remember being 12 and hearing this for the first time, thinking it was the toughest, most badass song and it made me feel like a bad ass....lol I miss 1983
First album i bought from them. I was sold.
cruehead 4 life LUV IT!
You need to listen to In The Beginning then Shout At The Devil. They go together thats how it was on the album. It sets the tone for the song.
Honestly, that's what drives me crazy about the whole "song reaction" genre. Albums from this era were often meant to be listened to from start to finish. Reacting to one song is kind of like just watching one out-of-context scene from a movie. People need more context to truly appreciate what they're hearing IMO.
50 yr old here.... When this song came out my mother absolutely would not let me listen to or get this album... So of course I became the metal head I am today...
This is just before things got too shiny, over-produced, and over-hyped. For rock in general, not just MC.
Peak Motley...my teachers freaked out when they saw their album cover with the pentagram
I was 18 when this came out
No yall did looks that kill somewhat similar
10 seconds to love !!!!
Mic Mars is ten years older than the rest of the band. Mic Mars is one of my top five guitar players of all time.
I think Lex is being kind and saying that all Motley Crue music sounds the same. It does to me too.
A littl back masking in the intro
Motley Crue .... SHE GOES DOWN .... STICKY SWEET ..... S.O.S ..
Yes
This is what I listed to as a teenager until nirvana came out and blew my mind apart
Mötley Crüe is awesome :D
Also, do more Eskimo Callboy, they’re truly awesome😎
