Night Train is a very cheap, high alcohol content wine. A fave from my college years. The song was written after they walked around a park all night consuming it. Slash famously said, “This song is basically about a walk in the park”.
Think of MD 2020, Ripple, Thunderbird etc. Cheap wine drank mostly by winos. Tastes okayish, will definitely get you fucked up, will probably make you sick at the end of the night, and you will have the worst hangover ever. But will get the job done if you only have a couple of bucks

Yeah and it came out in 1987, perhaps the most synthy and polished Heavy Metal period, it surely dropped like a bomb at the time with its all guitar "dirtyness". I was 16 in 1987 so i remember i borrowed the CD off a mate a work and taped it, i much later bought the CD myself. It really is a fantastic album and i still love to listen to it, albums like this reminds me why i play the guitar and write Heavy Metal songs although this isnt really Heavy Metal more like Hard Rock.

In one of my film classes we had a classmate named Earl who loved Guns N’ Roses. He did a commercial on Night Train Express (grape flavored wine, 18% alcohol) to this song Axel enthusiastically sings of. He came into the studio around 11pm, his idea was stack the 8 bottles high and film, a pretty basic idea. The next morning Earl was found passed out next to the bottles by our professor-three of the bottles were empty. Go Earl go!
Izzy Stradlin was the heart and soul of this album...brilliant musician and lyricist.
When he left it went to shit. Steven Adler was also a big part of the formula despite his flaws.

Axl Rose wrote this in 1985 when Guns N' Roses were living in Los Angeles and playing gigs on the Sunset Strip. The song is about how they were so reckless, crazy and poor that the only alcohol they could afford was the Nightrain. After every show they would get drunk and walk back home singing the lyrics to "Nightrain" until it finally came together. >>

I had a boss when I worked a Taco Bell in '82 who would have a party at his house occasionally. He would buy a bottle of Nightrain and pay money to whoever would drink it. It would always end horribly. Never did it, but saw the results.
After Rocket Queen my second favourite song on Appetite for Destruction.

Yeah Izzy doesn't get the credit he deserves that's for sure!! I'm sure it's because he stayed behind the scenes too much.
I finally figured out Izzy. He wrote most of the good songs and I think Axle screwed him on the royalties and credits. Everyone in the band was afraid of Axle because Axle said "its my band" but Izzy said to go sk a big ft dk. Notice no one in the band ever talks about Izzy!?!?!?!?!?!!?

Yeah I live in izzys hometown and everyone knows he was the driving force behind all the great riffs but he also never wanted that much fame, met the whole band on their first tour in Danville Illinois, God what a riot. Izzy came out shuffled on by us unnoticed until my friend yelled at him as he was getting into a car, Where's izzy going and the girl with him popped off, " he's going to be with his family". He ended up coming back about an hour later, they were so chill back then, still got my picture with slash to prove my story to the non believers

This and Rocket queen was always my favorite songs off that album. The whole album is sooooo good.

Please do “You’re Crazy” from the GNR Lies album. Very different style compared to their normal stuff, and I rly wish they did more like it.
They could also do the electric vs. acoustic comparison seeing as the electric is off this album and the acoustic on Lies.

Elton John, Billy Joel, NWA and Axl, already explanes and You can find those interviews on youtube. But, people never took the time to understand the song, and it’s easier to just call him racist and homophobic, specially to the Villain created by the media, Axl Rose. There is not 1 person that really knows Axl that says he’s a bad dude, even When Guns split up, they had their differences but you can hear any interview by Slash, Duff, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum, they all say the same. Very intelligent, sweetest guy, beast of a frontman, shy, the most honest person, but to be fair also a pain in the ass and difficult to deal with when He’s in a Bad mood ahahah.

Guns n Roses Appetite for Destruction is by far their greatest album it’s a master piece! Their is not a bad track on that album. It’s hard and nasty!
Nightrain is a cheap wine they would drink because they couldnt afford anything else. While walking back from the liquor store with their nightrain they started rapping the lyrics and then went back and wrote the song that night. Pretty funny imo.

This was my jam when I bought this record! The line about the girl taking her credit card to the liquor store refers to the guys in the LA rock scene having almost no money and living off the money from their groupy girlfriends.

My first memory is of the appetite cover. I was 3. This has been my fav song literally my entire life.

Slash said in his autobiography that this was his favorite Guns song. You should also check out "Think About You". also on Appetite. Every song on Appetite has its own sound, thats what made it so great!
Search for the VH1 Guns and Roses Documentary. When they get to the part about the The G&R/Metallica show in Montreal where there was a riot after the show, I was there.
Must be a one hell of experience
@@Force-qd3qx It was great. the funny thing is I had a 6 month old baby with my wife in the Volkswagon Vanagan sleeping while I walked the streets after the show and watched people tear Montreal apart. I was a young man and it filled me with energy watching that shit even though I was not participating in over turning police cars or ripping down city street light poles.

When I was in a band we covered this song all the time and people loved it
I highly recommend watching a documentary about this band. I randomly caught one on a music channel last year and learned stuff even I didn’t know, and I lived through it all! They weren’t always perfect people, but they sure knew how to rock (and still do!)
I remember as a 11 year old lad in the UK watching terminator 2 in 1991, and seeing John Connor riding off on his trail bike listening to "you could be mine", and thinking, wawl!
Fast forward 4 years to 1995, I was in high school, and me and my friends were all wanna be axl roses, we had appetite for destruction, use your illusion blasting out the common room on cassette every day, Much to our teachers

You guys have to watch their live show at The Ritz during the 80’s! It’s about an hour long and it’s killer.
it was a crazy short time with GnR. Sweet Child of Mine video I was at that show it was GnR, Deep Purple and Aerosmith great night. A spot in the upper deck was lit on fire during Smoke on the Water.

Appetite for destruction was a freight train when it came out! It summed up our attitudes as teens back then! "Live fast, die Young, leave a good looking corpse!" Such a kick ass album.
This whole album was our theme song as we rolled down to Panama for Operation Just Cause. Noriega had no chance!
Mom’s boyfriend growing up was a drummer. so I was very well versed in music from yard birds to cream and zeppelin to the scorps and Motley Crue. This album dropped when I was in 6th grade. This album ruled the air waves for a very long time. Then growing up in Tacoma I got to watch Seattle music seen blow up and change it all again with Nirvana.

I was learning how to skateboard 🛹 in 1988 in Spokane Washington when I first heard sweet child of mine and I was hooked on GNR. I was in fourth grade @ Hutton elementary school 🏫🎒!!!

It's the band in the middle of what seems to be one of their many nightly binges.
"Slash Raised On The Sunset Strip" is a Documentary about the guitar player, Slash. While not about G&R specifically it gives a great insight into how it all came about and what happened to Slash after he moved on after G&R.
Fun fact, his mother was a costume designer for ALL the big rock and R&B acts of the 70's like Linda Ronstadt, Joni Michell, even David Bowie

As far as documentaries on Guns 'N' Roses there was a 47 minute TV movie in 2007 called "Guns 'N' Roses: The Story" and there's supposed to be a new 2hr long one released on Jan. 28th

Every high school kid started drinking it. It tastes aweful and would give you a killer hangover...but it was cheap...like $3.00 a bottle...so we could afford It and kept coming back for more.

i saw them in '87 opening for motley...great live band although they were very drunk...it was an eye opening experience seeing this show at 12 yrs old,lol
