Everytime Lex goes "ooohhh" during a guitar solo it make me smile. Plus her "noooo" when the song ended. She wanted more. This is a great album all the way through. "Creeping Death" is another great song on this record.
shes a REAL metalhead
That guitar intro and outro is my favorite in Metallica's entire catalog
Always loved Trapped Under Ice
Lex strikes me as such a fun free spirit, I'll bet she's a trip to hang out with and listen to some metal.
Brad looking at lex during the solo is priceless...when a piece of music can move someone like that, it says alot about the person and the musicians who wrote the piece.
They're hilarious lex is a metal head 🤣
You 2 are my favorite reactors.
Brad at 4:00 checking to see how long her seizure would last, lol.
Dude is having a serious problem keeping up with the gal on this exploration. He is hiding his shit.
@@waveman69
Nah, man. He just listens different. I think they are great together, the juxtaposition 🤘🏼
This song and Kirk’s solo is what made me fall in love with Metallica 37yrs ago, I’m glad you two liked it, and Lex, you rocked it!!!
I think Brad didn't liked it...
Mustaine's solo. Corrected for you
@@IAmThePunkSkunk He absolutely did write the solo on RTL, lmao. ua-cam.com/video/h1rdk6Df7dc/v-deo.html
@@fatredditmod stop it,he didn’t write the solo and you know that.
@@fatredditmod he absolutely didn't, had absolutely NOTHING to do with the solo... congratulations for falling for that ridiculous clickbait video
Brad's smile after getting a glimpse of MetaLex riding the couch lightning is priceless. Made my day.
"Riding the couch lightning"! Love it! 🤣
MetaLex should be one of their t-shirts
Made my too hahaha
That sounds killer: ua-cam.com/video/vIVxvXdZfO4/v-deo.html
Last part of lead, he looks over, Lex is in special needs, Brad looks at us, lol
Love seeing Lex get into Metallica the way she does, she truly feels the power of Metal , you are a lucky man Brad
Lex is turning into a true 80's metal head and Brad you can't tell if he likes it or not he always has that puzzled look
Keep on rocking
80's metal for ever
I don’t think he liked it. He literally gave no feedback didn’t say one thing 😆😆
This is why I like them. Brad isn't phony.
Some day we WILL find the song that will make him rock the eff out. It. Will. Happen.
@@cruesome1971 he liked FWTBT
You can see Brad regretting that he didn't pause before the guitar solo, as he scans to see where his next opportunity will be, but at the same time, he's watching Lex and remembering why he loves her. 😅
Glad he didn’t cuz the buildup to that solo is epic. Better to go thru that uninterrupted
LOL, yea. 3:58 Brad's like, "Damn, how long is this solo?"
The little smiles Lex gives during the instrumental parts are priceless. I love how much she vibes with the heavy metal stuff
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Brad's analytical and apprehensive approach is in effect. His signature "side to side sway" seems like he's suppressing his inner metalhead by only allowing minuscule "rocker bops" as Lex is clearly all in so says her physical being by telling her to catch some awesome "metal bops" complete with air guitar, cool karate chops and briefly introducing her "conductor bop".
As Brad analyzes the best time to pause the song...
Brad does that head movement to every song, let's be honest Lex is worth watching
God damn Smitty, you are hilarious! You crack me up every time!😁🦏🇨🇦
@@robrhyno9572 Thanks Rob ✌
ive literally seen this samew exact comment copy pasted on their other videos like wtf
What's crazy to me is that this album is so different from Kill Em All (their first album). The band really stepped up their game with the music and lyrics. It really shows how much of a difference Kirk and Cliff made for the band (they recorded Kill Em All but didn't get much to actually write songs).
Cliff Burton left his mark on this and Master of Puppets
KEA was mostly Leather Charm, Obsession and Panic material. You're right, Ride had a lot to do with Kirk and Cliff, but we also still had some Dave riffs, and certainly more than people give him credit for. The sheer diversity of writers on this album made it a masterpiece.
@@hmpz36911 yeah kirk and cliff, besides the bass solo really didnt have any song credits on kill em all till Ride The Lightning.
@@hmpz36911 Dave is a beast but he only helped on the Ktullu and the "Spider Chord" on Ride the lightning.
same with Megadeth I would say, their first album is good but holy hell is peace sells a godlike album compared to killing is my business
This whole album is absolute fire. Please do the whole album eventually!
The only song I dislike is Escape
I love the guitar sound. No other albums sounds like Ride the lightning
Escape? Trapped under Ice?
I'd even throw Call of Cthulu in there as overly long and overrated. The s&m version is better
@@Phantom-kc9ly You've got to be kidding me
This album is a masterpiece. The sound gets better as they get better and older. They are still very young at the time of this album and they are getting big time at this point and world touring.
You really need to check out"The call of Ktulu",off the same album as this. It's a nine minute instrumental and the simplest way to describe it is "f*****g brilliant"
But it's a much, much different song than this one is.
Another Dave tune, too. You can totally hear the songs Dave was part of writing, and it makes you wonder. What if they made an album together again. James, Dave, Kirk, Lars and Rob. I think it would be greatness.
I love it! Lex is rocking out from the first note, Brad is just Being his Chill self for the first 3 and a half minutes until Lex breaks out the air guitar!
This album has some of the best Kirk solo's. My fave Metallica release
Yeah, hate to be a wise-ass (cause they are phenomenal 🤘)
But most of Kill 'em All they didn't give him that freedom, a large portion of that material was Mustaine's. I am glad Lars and James let him have at it!!
My favorite as well.
@@richardrobbins8067 Dave and Kirk were both masters back then, as were Cliff and James. Those first 2 were the best.
@@hmpz36911
Amen, still miss Cliff..
Irreplaceable.
Best album ❤️🤘
Mustaine's solos.
That album is what started it all for me back in 84-85. My roommate would play that album every night when I was in school in Louisville. I was hooked from that point on
4:20 I haven't laughed that hard at a reaction in a while. Two personalities in a frame.
Brad looks so mesmerized by the lyrics AND music. He was getting into it, not as much as Lex, but getting into it
If he likes it how come he didn’t say anything? I’m not sure he did. Lex knew it was a banger!
lets face it. this brad dude just doesn't like metal. he might say he "likes" some songs but not the same way we like it. you know what i mean? i dont understand why he always has to focus on the lyrics instead of just loosening up and enjoying the music. i like lex's enthusiasm but i feel like she's not 100% genuine. im not saying she's faking it or anything its just that sometimes i think she's afraid to say what she really thinks of the songs. its like she enjoys all of it and just says "i like it,its good"
@@RandomPerson-ui3xv I think Brad is learning what metal is about. He is levitating to certain sounds. Def Leppard being one of the bands\sounds he is liking. He is very analytical about everything. What he needs to learn is not all the songs have such a deep meaning. Some are just straight forward fun. The music from the 90's, which I'm pretty sure he grew up around, was all mommy and daddy screwed me up and now I'm angry grunge. I like 90's but 80's was mainly about fun and screw authority. He has yet to get that concept of it. I feel he is missing out on so much by not seeing to official videos. That was a way the musicians also expressed their music. Lex gets it though. She just grooves and rocks her heart out. Brad is starting to learn
@@RandomPerson-ui3xv Some people just like different genres man, and some people appreciate music differently, there's nothing wrong with him not liking metal, he's said it multiple times that it's not his favorite. He prefers lyrics and that's fine
I picked up the guitar laying beside me and jammed along xD It's such a kickass song to play, by yourself or along with. One of my favorite songs to play, whenever someone ask me if can play any songs it's always one I bring.
Lex and Brad need to see them live….if Lex is moving like this on the audio version, imagine her at the Metallica concert…… I saw them in 2017….. best concert experience ever!!!!!!! Make the concert experience happen guys!!!!!
Agree. My 2nd Metallica concert was 40th @ Chase Center. I knew the following month they would be in Vegas, but I despise the city so I did not plan to go. But after the Chase Center experience I was so moved, I now have tickets for Vegas! Metallica live experience will far exceed my dislike for Las Vegas.
1986 for me, it was EPIC. I saw them again at a rock festival and then at a convention center show. I need to get to a show again, it's been a while.
Literally in TEARS!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ROCK IT OUT!
Metallica's best album and second best song ( fight fire with fire being the best IMO). Awesome.
Ride The Lightning is still my favorite Metallica album.
Mine too!
Mine as well 🦅
BY FAR the longest Brad has gone before pausing, but the guitar solo in this one comes up much sooner so had to wait. You could tell a couple times during the solo he thought it was coming to an end.
You guys are so great!! You are, hands down, my favorite reactors!! You keep right on rocking Lex!! 🤟 🎸 Watching you discover all this awesome music really makes me feel like I'm discovering it all over again and I haven't felt like that since the 80s and 90s!! So thank u guys for that!! 💜
What a banger of a song. Still all these years later. The riffs, the solos, the lyrics. They were so creative at this point. No rules. Just inventing stuff on the go.
This album blew my mind when I first heard it back in '85. My favorite Metallica album, by far.
Same bro
Kill Them All was an underground record, but Ride the Lightning garnered recognition and critical acclaim by the mainstream music press (which was important in the pre-Internet world).
My favorite album of theirs. Another one I had as a kid on cassette and wore the tape out and it broke. Did that a lot, music has always been my refuge.
Same here. Then I got to see them live on this tour. Wow. Excellent show.
I just love the way Lex totally gets into the music. Not just this song but damn near all of them. A true lover of musical nuances and genius. It doesn’t matter the genre, if it strikes a chord in her you know. Keep the awesome reactions coming guys.
Watching Lex immerse herself in the music when she's really into it is so satisfying. She's flailing around while Brad's just chill, watching her like she's a lunatic LOL. Love her energy!
Love Brad looking at Lex rocking out and then looking directly at the camera with a big smile!!!!😂 Love it. This was the 2nd Metallica song I ever heard. By the time I got to For Whom the Bell Tolls? I knew they were the band for me.
The dynamic of Lex clearly feeling the music, and always picking up the true meaning through the sound, and the contrast of Brads look of confusion, being lost with out the Karaoke style lyric on the screen... and then the ironic 'I dont know' in the outro. I think thats why this reaction partnership works.
This was by a landslide the craziest stuff that I'd ever heard at 16 in a small KY town.My mind has completely blown and forever changed. My brain has not been blown like it was on that day in the late 80s like that again.Im 49 now.
I saw them in 1983-84 Metal Up Your Ass tour at the Big Apple in El Paso, Texas. Utterly mindblowing. They played every song they had, and some I still haven't heard to this day.
Hey KY neighbor!
I’m 46 and same here! 🤟🏼 what’s up from Ohio, neighbor to the north!
Howdy, neighbor ! Born and raised in KY. I bought their album Ride the Lightning, in 1984. I was the first kid in my neighborhood to do so LOL, I saw them opening for Ozzy in 1986 at the Riverbend outdoor Music Center on their Damage Inc. tour. I wish I still had those concert shirts. Good Times !!! I am 52 now, man time flys.😂
Go Blue
One Of the most beautiful and awesome solo....in the metal history...simply great kirk hammett.
Back when this came out ,I used to drive around and listen to this while it was storming outside . Lightning flashing just makes that song more awesome sounding.
The fact that Lex can pick out the era of a Metallica song makes me so proud, haha, great job, this song is era 1984
Love it when she is feeling it. The dude couldn't help but to smile.
"Fight Fire With Fire" is another totally Badass song from the Ride the Lightning album!
I was wondering when they would get to this song; and Fight fire with Fire!
My Favorite Metallica album ever .. love this song and I completely agree wit them .. I’m against the Death Penalty too “ Who made you god to say “ I’ll take your life from you “ we as a society don’t have the right to kill anyone.. regardless of what they did.. if they kill someone .. we deciding to kill them doesn’t make it any better .. “ only God can judge me “ - Tupac
I feel your excitement Lex! ❤
My auntie bought my cousin and I all their cassette's played their music on car ride from OC to San diego, every holiday & summer break i had.
She passed away very young. 😢
I just love your reactions to My fav band!
YES so glad it’s been done, in my top 3 and horrendously overlooked
If you haven't done it already, you gotta do the studio version of CREEPING DEATH from the same album. Their best song for my money. Totally EPIC! 🔥🔥🔥
Lex you crack me up you've got the joy of life in you so deep. Just moving and grooving like it's a beach song instead of a death row execution song! Love it!
This is probably my favorite song by them.
My favorite reaction so far. You both killed me in this one. This is by far my favorite Metallica album as well. Glad Lex loved it!!!
That energy is the exact right reaction
That’s what the crowd all feels at a Rock show. 🤘
this is the best title track of any metal album ever. the song is so kickass man
I love your channel and it’s my favorite reaction channel. Keep Rockin Brad and Lex !!
I'm 44 and at age 16 my sister was playing this in her room and now I'm a huge fan of Metallica. Love your channel guys ❤️💕
I love watching someone else ponder & enjoy in his or her own thoughs & feellings the band that l like the most.
I'm about to make my first, undeniably old man post. I'm 51, metalhead since 82... You guys have managed to enable me to re-connect with some music I'd forgotten or had taken for granted of. Thank you. Here's the real old man part... I hope you two have kids. Ya'll are awesome, and put a smile on my face and heart from time to time. It's great to see, a great representation of yin and yang in the most positive sense of the thought. Keep it up yall.
This was my first metallica album and still my favourite
Hey, you guys discovered one of the great songs on Metallica's best album, way to go! What a guitar solo this one has. Lex, our metal girl loved it, Brad, just funny to watch him watch Lex jam out.
Great reaction! You guys should do The Shortest Straw next!
Love watching you two, great interplay you both look at the songs in a unique and refreshing way. Keep it up!!!!
This record and the next record, Master of Puppets, are master pieces. I would put those two records against any other metal bands best two records and ride with it. Pardon the pun. Crazy thing is, the songs on those two records are even better live. So much more adrenaline and energy.
100% agree man! Those two albums were so special. Cliff Burton had so much to do with it all too. Does Brad and Lex know about Cliff??? I hope they do a reaction to "Anesthesia Pulling Teeth" someday! Best Bass solo ever imo, I know Lex like Bass guitar so that reaction is one I can't wait to see!!!
_"This record and the next record, Master of Puppets, are master pieces."_
No, lol, not even close.
@@YeeLeeHaw They really are. It's cool if you don't like them but there is no denying the quality of music produced on both those albums. There is a difference between bad music and music you don't like, they're not necessarily the same thing...
@@MrBocco1 Go cry some more. I already saw your cringy response to my other comment, don't pretend that you're objective and reasonable.
Although those are very good, I would easily put Iron Maiden against them in a heartbeat.
My favorite Metallica album and arguably my favorite song. This was a much anticipated reaction and there was absolutely no disappointment
I went to the Ride the Lighting tour at the Lyceum Ballroom in London in 1984!
This album really set the tone in '84 for what was to come in the genre. Tht rhythm they get going thru the solo & Kirk's blistering solo over it are cornerstones of the thrash movements beginnings. Mustaine mightve wrote it but Metallica brought it to life like no one else couldve. This was also before the tragic loss of Cliff & before James started "singing" the words instead of how he started & tht gives it the raw vocal sounds tht really go w/ the song as opposed to how he sounds now. Then & now theyre really almost two diff bands now but theyre still bringin it.
This is and has been one of my all-time favorites. I remember at 17 going to the music store at the Malls music store. The Crate or Music Crate , I think it was. When RTL dropped. One of my best friends worked there. I couldn't wait to get that plastic cage cut off it, get to my car and shove it into my Pioneer cassette stereo. Anyone else have the little gray aftermarket equalizer?
Watching Brad following the lyrics with a wth look and seeing Lex jamming out at the same time is the best reaction ever to this song.
Brad looks like he's reading a life insurance policy, and Lex is just feeling the music...
Love you guys, really. Watch almost every day. Amazing to watch when you know you really enjoy listening to all types of music.
Brad's expression towards the camera at 4:26 pretty much sums it all up lol!
OMG! I lost it when Brad looked at Lex rocking out and then looked right at the camera and smiled like "Are you guys seeing this?"
Brad's all calm. A few smiles here and there. Lex is a machine on overload the whole time. Lol.
This is REALLY one of the songs that people know they're going to love within 1 or 2 seconds.
my favorite thing at this time is watching lex rock out. She is a absolute smile maker and a gem. 🤘💕🎸🥁
Wow, Lex, you have the most adorable reactions.. This was the second Metallica album, released in 84. They were 21 at the time. It's the second best Metallica album, after Master of Puppets. The reason it was so good was the late Cliff Burton. He was classically trained and taught James harmonies and other stuff. Without him, their music would never be so melodic as evidenced by every album after his death.
this solo is crazy good...
A metal head is born….one of the rawest, most powerful and iconic thrash albums ever released.
Gotta say, I really appreciate that you didn't pause during the solo. I was even thinking like dam they gotta pause sometime soon, but she was really feeling it!
its Brad's look back at the camera at 4:25 before the huge smile that hits his face. havent laughed so hard in many weeks.
though we didnt get much analysis or opinion on the song from Brad. ?
This couple is the very embodiment of the phrase "opposites attract"!
What I love is that there was no discussion on trying to decipher the meaning of the song because of how straight forward these lyrics on what the song is about lol.
Not saying that is bad, just loved it because it emphasized that there is no mistaking that this song is about a man being executed via electric chair.
This is what expect to be, an inner force that flood outside, a real pleasure to see you enjoying this Young lady😊
LOL that moment @ 4:22 where Brad just looks at the camera like: "What is going on next to me" XD
The pure punk side of The Mighty Met mixed with their killer technical skills.
My favorite Metallica song!!! Love Ride the Lightning!!!
Love how Lex just gets into it and jams her heart out. I had the LP's on this recording and blasted it out on my stereo system as teenager. Same with Megadeath LP's
Fun fact: the intro riff (as in the very first few seconds) was come(comed?) up with by their drummer, Lars Ulrich
My man pulled a Jim from the office, looking at the camera during the solo.
Metallica. To live is to die, from And justice for all album. its a tribute to their bass player Cliff burton, really beautiful song, around 5 min in the song, i think Brad will realy enjoy how great Metallica can be! :)
Now that is what it's all about!!!...what a groove to such heavy lyrical content...it requires a heavy delivery
This has always been one of my fav songs since I was a kid. Along with For Whom the Bell Tolls.
if Lex was living in the 80's she would be a METAL chick, for sure !!!
I always loved this song and album, glad to see you liked it!🤘
Death Angel, Laaz Rocket, Metallica @ The Kabuki Theatre in the summer of 1985, I had just turned 16. It was the third time seeing them. So lucky to have grown up in the Bay Area, epicenter of thrash! 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
Brazilian fan here .... Thrashing with MetallicA since 1996 ... 🤟
Lex is loving the solo!!!!!!! Brad is definitely taking in the lyrics. you both would make great critics.
One of the best solos ever and Lex felt it!
I used to blast this album in my headphones after school and take a nap. That was in like 88-89.
this reinvented metal music back in the day
Yall need to start sharing a playlist with us. Id love a gym playlist, and a bangers playlist. So far outside of ace of bass 2022 has been some strong reactions!
I'm I the only one imagining Lex rolling in her ride with Metallica full blast and all the Homies are WTF girl? Priceless.
The masterpiece of the album. What a set up for Master of Puppets. Lex hit it right on the head. Such technical and blended musical talent for those in the early stages of their career and life. Still amazes me.
Late pause- Metallica is in your blood now. Brad reminds me of the quiet guy in high school who was secretly a great opera singer. Lex- the cool girl is high school that was actually very friendly but everyone was afraid to talk to her because she was so chill. lol. Love the reaction as always.
"
"WARNING" video with amazing guitar solo's may trigger seizures !! adorable Lex type seizures !! Brad , your look when Lex was jamming out, was priceless!! love you kids, keep on keeping on!
It is 80s NOW THATS METALLICA!!!!!!!I've grown to love the true sound of Metallica it even sounds Metallic love this shit !!🖤🤘🖤💥💥💯
LMAO - you two crack me up. Music, of all genres, will live on because of people like you. Thank you.
