Kick Start My Heart was written by bassist Nikki Sixx, after he did a fatal dose of heroin and he actually was pronounced dead until they gave him a shot of adrenaline straight to his heart to bring him back to life.
As a retired FDNY Paramedic I will tell you that he was given 2 doses of 1/1000 of Epinephrine via Intracardiac injections into his left ventricle. This procedure was taken out of protocol a long time ago because most paramedics were missing their projected target and puncturing the lung causing more damage. Especially on obese people. You’re supposed to insert the needle into the fourth intercostal space between the ribs. Which would work out perfectly on the average size person. But doing this procedure on an obese person especially in small quarters like the bathroom of someone’s home will almost always present a problem. As a Motley Crue fan I’m glad that paramedic went the extra mile with Sixx. But I’m not sure if that was in protocol in California in 1987. I know it was not part of nyc REMSCO remac. So had this not worked out that paramedic would have opened himself up for multiple lawsuits and probably termination of his employment and possible sanction of his certification. But like I said I’m only speaking from a NYC paramedic. Whoever that paramedic is I know I speak for a lot of people when I saw THANK YOU 🙏. Sixx is the most talented member of Motley Crue the first 4 albums of Crue are amazing and Sixx as an amazing song writer.

@@Blondebombshell87 I'm sure those bands are great and definitely not putting anybody down. It was just a different time. Beyond just the music, there was much more freedom. That thing in his mouth was a talk box. To hear 2 masters use it try Peter Frampton "Do You Feel Like I Do" & Joe Walsh "Rocky Mountain Way", which is a banger!

its absolutely rediculous how underrated these bands are back then, and its honestly dissapointing that most kids today are not familiar with these bands. but hey i guess things change and so do people
Underrated??? This album was HUGE when it came out. The fans knew they'd nearly lost Nikki and so they were really excited by his comeback. Sold-out shows everywhere. I was in high school and all the metalheads could talk about after their show near us was Tommy mooning the crowds during his drum solo. It was wild.
The words have a double meaning. Nikki Sixx was a heroin addict and arrested from an overdose. The EMT kept using cardioversion as he recognized his patient. Nikki mentioned waking and seeing the epinephrine syringe in his chest...hence the words of "kickstart my heart, hope it never stops". It is also the story of the band.
It's a talk box, man. He's talking through his guitar. Peter Frampton is most famous for it but I recommend Scorpions - The Zoo A good version is (Live in Berlin 1990)
When you thought you heard "auto-tune" was, in fact, the Talk Box, more prominently heard on Bon Jovi's "Livin On A Prayer", Weezer/"Beverly Hills", Joe Walsh/"Rocky Mountain Way" & Peter Frampton/"(Oooh Baby) I Love Your Way...among others.....
The pure energy of heavy metal is what makes it my favorite genre. Metal isn't for chilling out and relaxing to the sunset. Metal is for getting things accomplished.
This song jams. Check out Tommy Lee (Motley Crue's drummer) on the drums and all his crazy contraptions, like being in a box that gets turned upside down, his roller coaster track, his wheel that goes all the way in circles like a ride at the fair where he goes upside down
I love watching rappers listen to motley crue it lets me know there’s hope for the future I know I’m probably the only 14 year old that listens to motley crue,Black Sabbath, and ac/dc regularly
I love rap. I also love the Crue. You can do both. My two favorite musical memories are seeing the Crue play this in person, and being at Darien Lake in 1990 to see Tesla play Heaven's Trail. There is a lyric in that song that refers to it starting to rain. As they started playing the song, the clouds opened up and dropped about 3 inches of rain, lightning and thunder (it was an outdoor concert). Talk about special effects! And not one single person sought safety. We all just stood there captivated. Ah to be 20 again!
I absolutely love this video, quite amazing to see two opposite ends of the spectrum of genre of music coming together. I wish I grew up in the 80s... lemme go back to the past man
I love this song!!! Gets me so PUMPED!!! Mötley Crüe is BADASS! They LIVED the 80s rockstar life!!! Drugs, booze, and girls. They lived what they sang about (and it obviously didn't go well sometimes, but that's how it was back then)!
Not sure how I stumbled across this but I love watching youth listen to older music and get into it! I have a group of 19-22 year olds that come to me everyday asking me if I know this rock group Van Halen and other ones.....HAHAHA. Keep making videos young man,you got a great personality and are very entertaining to watch and listen to. My bet is you have a bright future ahead of you!!
This awesome track is from their Dr Feelgood album- tour 1989-90 - I saw them in Houston. One of the best live concerts I ever attended. 💥 It really was Lit...at times, literally 💥Great reaction video.
The minute it started & you got that smile, is the exact reaction everyone gets The 1st time & everytime after. I love it & your reaction. Motley Crue is one of my FAV bands, I saw them in concert several times.
Saw them in concert in 2013. The same night I also saw Kiss and Thin Lizzy. 3 of the worlds greatest rock bands in one night. Incredible. The truly crazy part of the night was when Motley had to end the show early because Vince Neil had to be rushed to hospital because he was in excruciating pain from kidney stones and shortly thereafter underwent surgery to have them removed. I've been to many live concerts but that night was one I'll never forget.
@@theuglyhairmonster2 sadly yes Joan Jett Poison and Def Leppard are there as well but Vince is just the weakest singer there I’ve see Brett Michaels so I know he’s still good

This young dude is really tight to listen to, SRV, Jimi, EVH and so on. Most of us are familiar to be sure, but the entertainment part for me is watching his reactions and a look for every expression. Also reminds me of My first time hearing "Eruption" and the effect it had on me, then watching his reaction to it and it brings Me back to the first time again.
Niki Six wrote this song after he OD’d and had to be resuscitated with an adrenaline shot. After checking himself out of the hospital against doctors orders He went home shot up another rail and wrote the lyrics.
@@CTMed-Growers-Association0420 TWO adrenaline shots, bro. The story goes that one of the EMTs was a huge Crue fan and after the first shot didn't work, he was screaming "Nikki Sixx is NOT going to die in my ambulance!" while he slammed the second one home.
Great reaction, glad to see more people enjoying great rock music, now go listen to "Girls Girls Girls", from Motely Crue, then follow it up with "Get the funk out", from Extreme.
They were one of the best live back in their heyday, always a great time to see them, but sadly, few bands now can generate the live show of many bands during that era.
To be fair, bands of that era were on a helluva lot more drugs. Even half the ones saying "I'm clean now, man" were still using on the sly. I don't think Crue was, but I know GN'R pulled that crap.

“I feel sorry” yet we have new bands like Crashdiet, Reckless Love, Airbourne. Etc. Educate yourself with the modern shit before saying we don’t get to enjoy it. Yes glam and hair bands were born in the era but they didn’t die
@@Blondebombshell87 I'm sure those bands are great and definitely not putting anybody down. It was just a different time. Beyond just the music, there was much more freedom. Nobody snapping cell pics or tweeting your latest antics to the world. People talked face to face. We had atari video games but they didn't keep us inside long. Was something to do on a rainy day for a little bit. The whole environment had a different, less stressful feel then.
@@Blondebombshell87No need to be a nasty ass about it. I feel sorry for people who didn't get to live through and enjoy the 80s and our music too. I don't need to "educate myself" about anything to feel this way.
Nikki got inspiration for this song from one of his overdoses. I like seeing the younger generation find music I grew up listening to and enjoying it
This song makes me wanna play Battlefield 3, 4, and soon 2042
@3:10 - "This song is lit, fool." ... If I had those words to describe it back in The Day, that's what I would have used. Just found your channel from this video - definitely a new sub. Thanks for your work!
“Makes me make that stank face, like somebody farted “. Lmao!!
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That thing in his mouth was a talk box. To hear 2 masters use it try Peter Frampton "Do You Feel Like I Do" & Joe Walsh "Rocky Mountain Way", which is a banger!
Been Backstage with the Crue 3 times, Fuckin Wild Fun!!!
And Bon Jovi - Living On A Prayer
Now I gotta go listen to those two songs. 😍
This and "Wild Side" are my fav Motley Crue songs.
I like Dr. Feelgood
These 3 and live wire!
Wild side is so good
@@carters527 Dr Feelgood is my fav
@@0iceman092
It was the first song from them I heard
It's awesome that someone from a completely different genera of music can listen to something totally different and still love it. Keep being you, Jojo
its absolutely rediculous how underrated these bands are back then, and its honestly dissapointing that most kids today are not familiar with these bands. but hey i guess things change and so do people
Underrated??? This album was HUGE when it came out. The fans knew they'd nearly lost Nikki and so they were really excited by his comeback. Sold-out shows everywhere. I was in high school and all the metalheads could talk about after their show near us was Tommy mooning the crowds during his drum solo. It was wild.
Kick-start my heart, may as well start off strong, go big or go home lol
The musical equivalent to a shot of adrenaline
I've just discovered your channel, and I love your reactions. They are so real. Thanks for doing these videos.
Motley Crue: Checked
Twisted Sister: Loading
Steel Panther: Standing by
Ughh.. Is Steel Panther even a real serious band.
YES IT IS
I was just listening to Steel Panther😂😂😂 they are actually amazing🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love Steel Panther.
Imagine being concert and hearing this???....Opening song on their Dr. Feelgood tour.
"Makes you want to hit someone with a chair"...GOTTA be the most original and appropriate compliment for this song and this group. 😄
Your life will forever be changed now that you have listen to the Crue welcome to fam my friend 🤟🏼
So glad I was a teenager growing up on the 80s.
Wish I was ha
man do I envy you, cheap muscle cars, cheap gas, absolutely fantastic music
You lucky mutha... I am into 80s stuff, so I'm jealous of u!
ANYTIME Sam Kinison escorted you anywhere, you know it was going to be legendary. 🤘🏼
I genuinely love seeing people who have never listened to rock or metal find a song that they really enjoy 🤘🏻 rock on my friend
I have been waiting for this. Now check out Girls, Girls ,Girls, and Dr. Feel good by Motley Crue.
Wild side 🖤 that's another great song of theirs! And live wire
Don’t forget same ol situation
@@eurikaherholdt9795 I was just going to comment...don’t forget wild side! I also love city boy blues and dancing on glass.
@@JBrewner-lb8ek I think it's because Wild Side is my all time favourite song of theirs, though I do enjoy all their music 🙂
@@eurikaherholdt9795 same!
I love the “you have to do jumping jacks until the song ends”! Laughing so hard!
It's a talk box, man. He's talking through his guitar. Peter Frampton is most famous for it but I recommend Scorpions - The Zoo
A good version is (Live in Berlin 1990)
Roger Trout was 🔥 on the talkbox back then also
Mötley Crüe were "A" listers in their genre of that era.
Glad that you're checking it out. That's my favorite song by Motley Crue 😊
Not even close to auto-tune. What?!
The pure energy of heavy metal is what makes it my favorite genre. Metal isn't for chilling out and relaxing to the sunset. Metal is for getting things accomplished.
This song jams. Check out Tommy Lee (Motley Crue's drummer) on the drums and all his crazy contraptions, like being in a box that gets turned upside down, his roller coaster track, his wheel that goes all the way in circles like a ride at the fair where he goes upside down
Tommy Lee changed Hair rock.
I love watching rappers listen to motley crue it lets me know there’s hope for the future
I know I’m probably the only 14 year old that listens to motley crue,Black Sabbath, and ac/dc regularly
You young kids have no idea how hard we rocked it out back in the 80's and 90's!! Best music!!
I love when people are open to new music genres 🙃
So cool to see the younger generation rediscovering the awesome music from the past.
Be careful driving while listening to this
Real talk I got in a car accident all because of this song, crraazzyyy 😂😂😂😂
I don't have to imagine. I saw them in Biloxi, MS on this tour.
And that' s an entirely different experience! I'm surprised we made it out alive my friend!🤘
Me too!!!
It’s a huge difference between a rap star and a rock star. I’m glad you see that
This awesome track is from their Dr Feelgood album- tour 1989-90 - I saw them in Houston. One of the best live concerts I ever attended. 💥 It really was Lit...at times, literally 💥Great reaction video.
I always love how they snuck the record scratch into this song. Its subtle but it's there and it fit so perfect.
Listen to:
Dancing on glass
Helter Skelter
Shout at the Devil
Too fast for love
Yes!!!!!! Too Young to Fall in Love.
Primal Scream and Wild Side too!
Listen to every song from the first 5 Albums lol
@@tristanwibel4250 yes those albums were so amazing🤘🏻
@@lynettetaggart59 Wild side was my favorite for the longest time🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nikki Sixx wrote this song after overdosing in a hotel and they had to use the shock paddles on him hence “kickstart” my heart.
No, it was 2 adrenaline shots to his heart
Motley Crue: Girls Girls Girls, Wild Side, Dr. Feelgood. All good. Their entire 1st album was incredible Too Fast For Love.
I’m actually going to one of Mötley Crües concerts in June
I can’t wait
Ready for a mumbling lead singer? Lol
@@theuglyhairmonster2 sadly yes Joan Jett Poison and Def Leppard are there as well but Vince is just the weakest singer there
I’ve see Brett Michaels so I know he’s still good
Now check out "Dr. Feelgood"!
My guy they were the ultimate glam rock group. Motley Crue was something else. They made their own sound
just ran across this..Omg you just made my month. What a great video. Ive been fortunate to see them live a few times. And for those who have u know how over the top they are at showing out. For my money no other band transends sex drugs and rock n roll more than them. Keep up the work ill be coming back for more. Much love
This song came about after Nikki overdosed on heroin, hence the title Kickstart my Heart.
The song is about him almost overdosing on heroin wich happened in real life
Niki Six wrote this song after he OD’d and had to be resuscitated with an adrenaline shot.
Your reactions were funny as hell !!
Great video !!
United We Stand 🇺🇸
At this point, your not just a rap fan. Your a rock fan.
Only concert I've been to, in late 80's , was awesome!
To be fair, bands of that era were on a helluva lot more drugs. Even half the ones saying "I'm clean now, man" were still using on the sly. I don't think Crue was, but I know GN'R pulled that crap.
Funny....MGK played tommy lee in The Dirt
"Imagine listening to this in a concert."
You said it. What a ride that would be.
@LFR Jojo, THANK YOU! for embracing different types of music. I grew up on Motely Crue but love tons of todays rap/hip.
