My fellow Americans, I've been watching you for a while. Not that I'm a stalker. I'm a stoner. LOL. I just wanted to say I get a kick out of you two watching some of my old music. And that being said I noticed you're too when you're watching the videos the young man straight face getting into the words. Why that beautiful young lady next to him. Is smiling shaking that ass and enjoying the music. The only time I see that young man smiling is when he's talking to his beautiful young lady. She is his Rock. Much love rock on. Now if I may suggest one song. I lied to songs Black Sabbath the writ. Bay City rollers. This one's for the young lady. The way I feel tonight. Enjoy my fellow Americans and thank you
The single greatest power ballad of them all. The solo still makes me cry with tears of pure joy every time I hear it. The song is about life on the road (touring) and then going home.
Totally agree. When I was a kid and bought this album, I was expecting a metal fest, like the 1st 2 albums. I ended up loving this song, and not loving much else on the album. Their 1st 2 albums were solid /had great continuity, but didn't have anything this well written
As a former Navy Veteran I have great memories of this song playing all over the ship at the end of our 6 month deployments in the late 80's. We were finally heading home Baby!
USMC here, and this song played on Armed Forces Far East Network (FEN and we called it the Forced Entertainment Network) every night at midnight before sign-off as they scrolled the flight schedule leaving Okinawa for the US the next day in 1989-90. Every time I hear it it takes me back to those days even after all these years. where did the last 30+ years go?
Leslie Murphy, I was one of the Marines on the USS Austin 1994, I'm pretty sure they played this and Mama I'm coming home over the loudspeakers when we started heading back to America... Even got to be a shellback from crossing the equator with a goofy Navy ceremony 😂😂
A long time ago I served in the Navy. I played lead guitar in a little band that we had aboard ship. We had been on deployment for six months...we were finally headed home. The Captain allowed the crew to have a "steel beach" picnic on the flight deck, basically hot dogs/burgers, etc. My little band was the entertainment. Somewhere I have a video of one of my fondest memories of my time at sea: We've been gone from home for so long. We are all worn out after a long deployment. The band is playing this song. As the distant horizon rises and falls as the ship rocks on the ocean swells, I look out at the faces of the ship's crew...my shipmates...and see the same heartfelt LONGING for home on every face. It was...beautiful.
What's up shipmate. Love this song and many fond memories of being out in the middle of nowhere with beautiful sunsets, whales, dolphins and of course loneliness. But when we came into port....LOOKOUT! We are here and we are here to light up a party!
I did 12 in the Navy myself and during the last week of one of my 6 month deployments they raffled spots to pick a wakey wakey song, proceeds to charity. I won the spot for the very last day and picked this song. Fellow guitar player too. Rock on
I agree. Motley never got the respect because of their glamor/party vibe, but I think Mars is a truly great guitarist who comes up with the perfect parts for each song.
It is so awesome that i was a teenager at just the right time to see all the great bands of the 70s & 80s live on stage multiple times. I wish everyone could have lived that kind of energy at a concert.
Hot Tub Time Machine does this song justice, when Lou is in his garage air drumming along while his garage fills up with fumes- what a poetic way to die.
Back when this song came out MTV had a daily show with the top 10 most requested, basically just like TRL in the 90's. Home Sweet Home was #1 for so long that MTV finally decided it was ineligible for the list and retired it. I remember the day I came home from school to see if it was still number one and it wasn't even on the list. I was shocked then they said what they did.
I remember that … it was #1 for about a year. Then they made a new rule, that a video couldn’t hold that position for more than a month. So “Home Sweet Home” goes down as holding the #1 slot for the absolute longest … with nobody else coming close to touching it.
I came to post this. On another note, I believe it was “knocked” off once or twice from #1 by Guns ‘N’ Roses’ Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, Live at the Ritz.
I saw this tour in 1985 and it was my first concert, 3rd row. Set in the arena parking lot the entire night before tickets went on sale and paid $20 for the tickets at the box office. This was an encore song and near the end of it the crowd actually drowned out the band. It was a fucking incredible experience. The Tulsa World had a story about it the next day.
I did 2 straight tours overseas without a trip home. When I was retuning to the states in 1986 this was my anthem. Actually, it was an anthem of many military at the time when they were returning to the states.
I first heard this song in the barracks the night before I came home from a year long tour in South Korea. The barracks was packed. All ranks from private (me) to 1st sergeant. And all races and music tastes. Everyone got quiet when this came on. Because we were going home sweet home
When I drove truck and was out for days and days this song hit the sweet spot when I crossed my city limits knowing I'd be with my sweetheart soon. How sweet it is to see your city limit sign after being gone so long.
You guys have now got to watch the official video. It captures the very feel of being at a rock concert while a Ballad played during the 80`s. When this song was released I was in Jr High School and MTV was all about music back then. They use to have the top 10 videos of the day, and this was the longest running number 1 video, I think it still holds today. It must have lasted for months. I knew if I went straight home without screwing off along the way I'd make it to see the number 1, Home Sweet Home. One day I ran to the nearest store to purchase the Hit Parader Magazine because the lyrics were in that months issue, I had to make sure I was singing the proper lyrics. I still made it hoe that day to watch the video as well. Them were great days to be alive!
Every time I hear this song it reminds me of playing foosball at the roller rink during an all night skate. Heavy cigarette smoke hanging over the table with the smell of Jack Daniels all around and the sound of the ball smacking the back of the goal. Man, the good ol’ days 🤘🏼
This is one of those songs where you can feel the roots of metal going all the way back through rock and blues to touch the ancient ancestor of gospel.
You have to watch the actual video when you get the chance, it will explain everything to you (for Brad) and if you think you were in a trance (Lex) it will draw you in even deeper...
And that is the secret to their success. That, and the geezers (I'm 50, myself - I suppose I qualify as a junior geezer) who are suggesting awesome music from back in their day. One of my friends had a boom box and cranked this song up. The whole plane sang it, get chills every time I hear it. You guys are great btw.
You guys are the best! I just love watching you react to classic rock legendary music for the first time. Just fantastic. Lex ... you have an and old school rock & roll soul and your face just lights up especially when the guitars start wailing. Keep em coming!
I love that you loved this song. It's like Beth from Kiss. After being on the road forever, they are going home, Tommy Lee wrote it and played the piano. It's deep. My favorites when I was a kid, met all of them. Straight up, top shelf guys. I wish the world was as soulful and loving now. Peace and love always.
I was in hospital over 200 miles from home when this song was released. I was given a maximum of 2 years to live and hearing this song made my mind up and I left and went home to die. Still alive and kicking today. Never forgot this song and what it meant to me.
When I was in the Army and was coming home from a deployment I would listen to music on the plane. "Home Sweet Home" was always the last song I would listen to before touch down. I always really like the song but after my time in the Army it has a very special place in my heart and always makes me a little emotional when I hear it. On a lighter note if you watch movies in your spare time and like comedies, the song "Home Sweet Home" plays a prominent role in the movie "Hot Tub Time Machine". It is a movie about traveling back to the 80's and it s hilarious.
This song is about touring, which a lot of bands wrote about: Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead or Alive; Journey, Faithfully; Turn the Page, Bob Segar; We're an American Band, Grand Funk Railroad; etc.
I use songs as calendars. This particular song was listened to almost every day while I was stationed in Korea 90-91. I was there 17 months. I returned to the states in August 91 and contacted on old friend in Buffalo whom I knew from Ft. Bragg. He picked me up at the airport, we went to an 82nd Airborne Convention then he drove me to Ft. Drum the next day. Sounds like one of them Casey Kasem stories.
Absolut love Mötley Crüe, my favorite band since the 80,s. The song "Home Sweet Home" is about the band being on tour for a very long time. Bassplayer Nikki Sixx wrote most of the bands songs and they are still going strong. Going on tour with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett in 2022. You should check out more and react to the songs with videos. Home Sweet Home also has a cool video. You should also check out the bands biopic The Dirt on Netflix or the trailer on UA-cam sooo GOOD!!! They also have very good songs from the 90,s and 00,s.
One of the first metal acts I ever got into even dressed up as Nikki Sixx for Halloween, I remember they used to play this on MTV’s heavy-metal half hour back in the day
Coming home on leave from the Navy, 12 hours from Norfolk, Virginia to Chattanooga, Tennessee, I'd probably have this one at least 3 times in the rotation, and definitely when I hit the Chattanooga city limit sign! That was from 1986 to 1990!
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in Hollywood, California in 1981.The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist/lead vocalist Greg Leon. After some time, Leon was replaced by guitarist Mick Mars and lead vocalist Vince Neil respectively. Mötley Crüe has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They have also achieved seven platinum or multi-platinum certifications, nine Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart (including 1989's Dr. Feelgood, which is Mötley Crüe's only album to reach number one), twenty-two Top 40 mainstream rock hits, and six Top 20 pop singles. The band was known for being quite popular with the ladies, and Tommy Lee even had his infamous sex-tape released showing him and his wife at the time Pamela Anderson enjoying time together. Nikki has written books about life as rock stars standing toe to toe with Ozzy doing booze and drugs. Nikki even died a few times overdosing. Lyrics below: You know I'm a dreamer But my heart's of gold I had to run away high So I wouldn't come home low Just when things went right It doesn't mean they were always wrong Just take this song And you'll never feel left all alone Take me to your heart Feel me in your bones Just one more night And I'm coming off this long and winding road I'm on my way I'm on my way Home sweet home Tonight, tonight I'm on my way I'm on my way Home sweet home You know that I've seen Too many romantic dreams Up in lights, falling off the silver screen My heart's like an open book For the whole world to read Sometime nothing keeps me together at the seams I'm on my way I'm on my way Home sweet home Tonight, tonight I'm on my way Just set me free Home sweet home Home sweet home Home sweet home Home sweet home I'm on my way I'm on my way Home sweet home Yeah, I'm on my way Just set me free Home sweet home

Motley Crue made a 'power ballad' in 1985 before it became the 'hit single' formulae to sell records in the 80's... Dokken also recorded the power ballad 'Alone again' in 1984. Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee played piano on the track... that record 'Theater of pain' was done after the car accident Crue singer Vince Neil was involved in that killed Hanoi Rocks' drummer Nicholas 'Razzle' Dingley... Neil served a short jail sentence before returning to record the album, but was apparently traumatized for life...

Ha-Brad disengaged from the lyrics to focus on the music- love it. As a Gulf War Combat Veteran- music kept me, & to this day KEEPS me, sane. On a lighter note if you watch movies in your spare time and like comedies, the song "Home Sweet Home" plays a prominent role in the movie "Hot Tub Time Machine". It is a movie about traveling back to the 80's and it s hilarious.
White tuxedos, white piano, and thousands of cigarette lighters floating above everyone's heads...this was so great in concert.
This song is about touring, which a lot of bands wrote about: Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead or Alive; Journey, Faithfully; Turn the Page, Bob Segar; We're an American Band, Grand Funk Railroad; etc.
After being away from my home (home town) for over 32 years, it's great to be back home. Home Sweet Home
Just play it over and over again. That works. 😜😎🌴🌞🐊
You like it. I love it. Can't EVER get enough of the Crue!!!
This is by far Vince Neil's best vocal performance ever.
Back when MTV showed music videos this was on MTV for months as the favorite by fans
There's nothing better than watching Lex react to a nasty guitar solo that has some stink on it 🤘
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band formed in Hollywood, California in 1981.The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist/lead vocalist Greg Leon.
Lyrics below:
You know I'm a dreamer
But my heart's of gold
I had to run away high
So I wouldn't come home low
Just when things went right
It doesn't mean they were always wrong
Just take this song
And you'll never feel left all alone
Take me to your heart
Feel me in your bones
Just one more night
And I'm coming off this long and winding road
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
Home sweet home
Tonight, tonight
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
Home sweet home
You know that I've seen
Too many romantic dreams
Up in lights, falling off the silver screen
My heart's like an open book
For the whole world to read
Sometime nothing keeps me together at the seams
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
Home sweet home
Tonight, tonight
I'm on my way
Just set me free
Home sweet home
Home sweet home
Home sweet home
Home sweet home
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
Home sweet home
Yeah, I'm on my way
Just set me free
Home sweet home
That's one of my favorite guitar solos ever
Ahhh, brought a tear to my eye…❤️💪✌️..damn,I miss those days
this song always in my heart since i saw it for the first time ...on mtv ..the 80s was a special time for me too musicaly and lifestyle ..i beleive a lots of the poeple thats is 50-60 yeard old now miss that time and feel the same as me ..there will only be one decade like this...BRAD and LEX..u should watch the...home sweet home official video 1985
Gotta check out the video for this song too.
Please we need the videos or the live version PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. I'll love 💘 you for ever ❤MUCH LOVE 💘
Nobody makes music like the 80's anymore , Thanks Brad and Lex for making me remember my childhood, seeing your reactions makes me feel good about our music staying alive. Keep rockin guys , I would like to see you review Cinderella if already have not.
Great song by them, they had many...Too Young To Fall In Love, Red Hot, Wild Side..and more.
Ha-Brad disengaged from the lyrics to focus on the music- love it. As a Gulf War Combat Veteran- music kept me, & to this day KEEPS me, sane. I recall focusing on the song lyrics- while coming home from the chaos of Operation Desert Storm in 1991; Home Sweet Home. THOSE THAT DO- are all so very lucky to have a Home Sweet Home…
Lex gets it. The genius of Mick Mars always carried the crue musically
