SUGGESTION: so the speaker wires were coiled up right next to the power wire. and thatll cause magnetic interference. thats why you keep getting noise from the sub when no music is playing. separate the wires away from the power and ground. atleaset as far as you can the bass knob is just another gain knob. when tuning turn your bass knob up all the way. bass boost off(never use it) then adjust your gain set the lpf knob to around 150 to 200hz
Changing the head unit in my WRX is a huge project that honestly, I'm not ready for lol..... I think the speaker wire input is a solid win for me getting some BASS in my Subi... Great video thanks for the review!!
Kicker has the absolute best product support. The part you need is only $20. Base model key loc. I put one of these for one of my ladies. She put hers in her back floor board. She loves it!
Try listening to it with the rear seats downs definitely will notice a difference and it looks like you guys did a good tune especially with the bass knob…bass knob is to kill control the bass so if the song has too much or missing bass that’s what the knob is for to adjust it
I thought about getting this speaker too, but the 100 rms is why I didn't. These walmart speakers hit, especially in my tiny honda fit. Also love these box designs. I wouldn't have to give up my trunk.
for 100 rms its surprisingly really impressive! my dual set up does 300 rms each but yet this bangs way more than the duals i have ! maybe its quality difference?
"No one reads that" *cries in Tech Writer* Great video, guys! Other comments have it right - you want to set the Bass Boost & Input Gain with the Remote Bass knob all the way up or not connected. Then the Remote Bass knob is a quick & convenient way to change your subwoofer output independent of the rest of the sound system. The crossover setting is one of those things to play around with until you get the tone vs. output level you'd like. The Wiring Harness only having hi level speaker input is due to design and cost. However, we recently started doing the opposite with newer Powered Subwoofers. The RCAs are connected to the wiring harness, and if you want to use Hi-Level Speaker signal you cut them off. I imagine you'll see that going forward! KEEP LIVIN' LOUD!
Hey there! I bought this sub for my 2023 f150. Can I tap into my rear speakers for the rca inputs or do you recommend tapping into the front through the head unit? I'm getting mixed info on the f150 forums. Thanks!
@@brunomatchbox9757 I should add that if your rear speakers have a hi-pass crossover applied from the source unit or other means, there won't be any low-frequency bass signal. That's probably what the debate on the F150 forums was about. You need to find a full range signal, or at least low frequency signal, to tap into or take from the source unit.
@@KICKER-AUDIO ok thanks. I think I understand what you are saying. I'm not sure if mine do or not. I can't find any info if my speakers have a high pass crossover or not. I have the stock stereo, non BO system on my Ford.
@@brunomatchbox9757 Being Non-BO I'd think there's a greater chance of you having a full range signal to grab off of, but I can't say for certain, I'm sorry :(. If you go off the rear speakers and the signal has bass removed, and it's too big of a pain in the you-know-what to run wiring to the head unit, you could use the KICKER KEYLOC, or another bass restoration product, to correct the signal.
this will just be the start of yall car audio right here haha! i got into the skar lineup! worth a look at! im running the 2 12" SDR 1200W RMS package with 1200.1D
Bro you guys gotta do the Gothic 12 and and matching amp its around the price pf that kicker set up, really gonna hear some plastic's rattling. Awesome vid's.
You guys are stepping up in quality. 👍 It's a bit irritating they decided to leave out rca connections on the amp. I think most people will tap into their rear deck speakers. You can buy some generic male and female rca adapters. They have screw terminals to hold bare wires. Those are good to have if your messing with car audio a lot.
The bass knob is just an attenuator. You might want to set the gain higher than normal and then dial it down with the bass knob. That way you have room to turn the bass up or down to fit the song. Maybe set the crossover a bit higher than 50hz. Maybe 60 or 70. Lower removes more of the vocals, but you also loose output. So you have to find the right compromise.
You guys were supposed to turn up the stereo and leave subwoofer levels and bass controller knob down first and then turn the gain on the subwoofer lol that why
Yes we have everything set to the rear but we dont have rear speakers in the car (haven’t bought any to keep) we do this so we can play any song and not get copyrighted by youtube!
It honestly already comes with everything you need but if you have a preference you’d only need your power cable, negative cable, blue wire (remote) , and rca converter or unless you dont mind using your rear speakers for rca signal
Do you fellas have a recommendation for a good amplifier? I want to throw a system in my ford f150 but I’m not knowledgeable at all about what amps are good or are a good value and what isn’t. I’m not trying to shake the neighbors house or anything lol. Just want something decent
Everytime y'all drop, I instantly start smiling lol, y'all hilarious, like the first 15 secs of the video. Great vibes
Haha we’ll continue to make them as enjoyable as possible! 😁
Can 2 of those subs be link together ?@@TNG11Automotive

Kicker is one of the oldest or is the oldest companies in car audio for a reason. Constantly innovative.

bass knob is for adding and subtracting bass for clipping and sound reasons your gain controls the knob and the knob adjusts it from there
Great video fellas. Very down to earth and chill guys. Makes the content much easier to watch. Keep doing your thing my brothers! 🫡
We will always do our best to make them the same or better ! 😁

The rca converter comes build inside the amp on this kicker just the connection are exposed thats why it got you guys confused
Great video ! Kicker never fails
i think that for the price you are better off getting the JBL GT-BassPro12
Can you guys do an installation tutorial for this?
Yall should review the Boss b12es powered sub next! ( deciding if i should get the boss or kicker )
that bumps, imma put it in my 1999 f250, its going behind my seat

Yeah you need a high pass between the speakers -you should only have had it split from your speakerss so you can stil hear your clear autdio also.
Try the 12" power acoustik, i keep hearing about it being a walmart gem
In this video, are the front speakers off?

Well if you want something local , for sure walmarts Jensen Monoblock is GREAT ! really strong ! and can take a beating! 😁
Can 2 of those subs be link together ?
Yess they can ! that’ll be a great video to make ! 😁 will have to try it out !
They design it where you have to include a key Loc.
No LOC or KEYLOC is necessary. The built-in amplifier can receive HI or LO speaker signal.
For that amount of money and no RCA’s is absolutely unacceptable. What a rip off.
