The thing I Like about these new Solo X is they are efficient. It doesnt take crazy amounts of power for them to get loud. Seems like these days inefficiency is praised💯
Yes but in a ported enclosure you need a lot of power, at tuning frequency the cone barely moves since the port does all the work. The more power we can put to the subwoofer the more we can get from the port hence why a lot of subwoofers for ported enclosure's are made with power handling and xmax in the design. Once you wrap your head around how a ported enclosure work's then you will understand why efficiency really does not mean as much as you may think. Now if you are doing something really low power and maybe SQ then sure efficiency comes more into play.
@liftedcj7on44s well I understand that smaller enclosure(s) call for more rms pwr while having better ctrl. Bigger has less pressure, less ctrl but efficient for the lower power range and sound better for the lower freq. There's a reason sundown subs are some of the best in the game because they typically call for smaller enclosure, which is going to typically call for more pwr and a overall better tigher sound if you will.
@lieutenantmikeo5979 sundown actually calls for larger enclosures than other brands. Go look at a X series 15 vs something like a DC level 5 15 and you'll see the sundown wants more airspace.
@liftedcj7on44s i have the xv2 and xv3 they are on the smaller side lol. Obviously zv5 series and higher will call for more displacement because the rms rating is also bumped out lol
Back in the late 90s i used to fantasize about having a set of kickers. I got out of the bass game and im back in. Now im much better off financially and bought my first Kicker a couple days ago. One thing i dont understand is i noticed some hating on Kicker. I have tons of hobbies and with every hobby you have the more pricey quality stuff and the cheap stuff that will do the job. The more pricey stuff always gets hate from people that cant afford it. Thats with every hobby. Kicker is one of the OG's of bass subs. People will buy the cheapest model of kicker than complain that it blew. I didnt get the solo x i got the l7s. Way more bass than I need already. Clean bass. When i got back in I went with the cheaper "Amazon" subs. You can hear the difference in quality the kickers have. I learned alot from your channel. Keep up the good work.
I wish there was rebassed music back then....Thats what makes hella bass now..i started on rebassed music 4 years ago and i dont listen to anything else now
I used to hear people complain about kicker because apparently they have small coils. But honestly, I never hated kicker. My first set of subs were the old school kicker cvrs duel 4 ohm. Like 800 max 400 RMS. Got them in a pro box two 10". I loved those subs, they packed a punch. Rocked my rearview mirror right off my windshield. Had them hooked up to a 760w Sony explode amp. Never had issues with them. Wish I would've kept them. Ended up selling them and the box and got like 120 for them at a pawn shop they turned around and sold them for like 250 🤦🏽 Also had some kicker shallow mount subs I bout from a guy for 70 bucks, two 12" shallow mount subs. They hit pretty good on a 500w Rockford fosgate amp. Sold those too for cheap cause I needed money. I've probably had a good 12-13 different systems over the years and none of them were super high priced gear tbh. Power acoustic mofo 12s on a 6k amp Old school boss 2000 what 10"s I gave to a friend, Some jvc 12s gave to my brother When I finally build a nother system, I'm keeping it lol Looking at getting 3 American bass xmaxx 12s and an 8k taramps. Bassheads know you gotta start somewhere
One of the best bass head videos i have ever seen !! You got straight to the point , no extra boring talking , and you fast forward your video to where it counts!!
The Solo-X is the best sub on the market for SQ + SPL performance for the price. Give them 2,000 watts of clean power and they will beat anything to pieces!!!
Definitely have me sold on this one. I’ve ran sound professionally for working on two decades. Changed a lot of coils during that time. Definitely haven’t seen it done so effortlessly. Well done kicker. And thank you bass heads for sharing.
I have 2 l7 12 inch square subs, 4 l7 15inch subs and now 4 compq 15s. These subs all are amazingly powerful. People ask why do i need so many subs, i tell them sometimes i change them out with different amps to match them. I hate having equipment just sitting around collecting dust. Being a bass head is a serious habit. I still have other subs that im trying to give to those who don't want bass like me. But i need the space available. Im trying my best not to buy another sub, but the solo x just keeps calling me to buy 2 of them. Im going to rehab after this.
The quick recone is one of the coolest ideas that Kicker has made into a reality. I'm surprised that other big names in audio haven't done it. Are there any others that do it?🤔 Thanks for the videos, Parker.👍🔊🔊
I think the best past about this sub is you can take it apart examine it an put it back together regaless if its blown or not to properly monitor things
I ran 2 mtx 7500s in highschool all the way up til they were just beat to death and deteriorating. Almost 13yrs i had them.....i wish they would bring them back..
Over the years I had kicker cvr boxes and the old kicker l5 box. I just bought the kicker comp r and I love them! Kicker will never disappoint you! Anyone looking for a good amount of bass for not too much money will be happy with them.
I like how Kicker took a page out of Orion's book when it came to the quick re-cone process. - Considering that Orion has done this since the first iteration of their HCCA subs in the late 2000's. Pretty neat system, with no glue required.
I know everyone has their preferences and world records are made from other brands, but a huge positive aspect for Kicker and these L7X's (in my opinion) is the fact that they made a bolt on recone kit which makes it easy for anyone to do their own recones while making it a lot less messier, too. So even if you're not the loudest, you can be back to bumping in less than an hour if you blow these
Beatin the concrete with that 15. I’ve always liked kicker. Still have one of their old school ZX amps I’m trying to figure out how to put to use. Parker: it would be nice to know if you smelled glue and when. Also, I have a sequoia too and when my latch goes you can roll the back window down, take a long set of needle nose, place a spacer to separate the window against frame, grab the cable, and jerk it up. Edit: that re-cone was sick.
Excellent representation Parker 👊🏼 I do believe the woofer was fine before last torture test Sounded like the box was falling apart😢 Still, that kicker kept on Kickin’ Keep it up👊🏼
@LivinLoudwithAndy no it was definitely hurt. I've seen other videos where as soon as you start pushing the subs the spider tears on em. It tears because it is super small. A sub that weighs 70 lbs should be able to play 3500 4000 rms and not tear the spiders.... but these will. Even the resilient sounds platinum V2 which weighs about the same is advertised at being very underrated at 2500 rms
@ParkerTheBasshead 1st off Big fan and watch every video I can of yours when I get time to jump on UA-cam. In 2019 My daughter was 4y/o when I had (2) 12" kicker L7 solo baric. Shorlty after Due to medical reasons and out of work in 2019 I had to sell them. From 2019 to 2022 doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong, things got worse. I ended up having to get a double hip replacement at 31 years old. Its been 2 years Now and I just saw your video on the Kicker Solo X 15 and I loved it!! I'm ready to get back into the Bass World Again! and why not start with Another Kicker!!!
Damn! That Kicker 15 solo baric is insane! Id love to pay this guy to build my sound system on top of my Factory Radio and put 2 of those 12in Kicker Solobaric subs in my QX80
Parker between you and exo you guys come in handy getting in them small areas. Us old fat big dudes can't do all that squeezing in those tiny areas. 😂😂
That was impressive from a single 15. Kicker needs to make even bigger versions of that sub. An 18 would be nice like back in the day. Also I would have drilled a hole in the panel put in a grommet and put in a pull string for that back hatch by now lol Had a 2011 kia van that the back hatch was electric only and it didn't even come with a safety manual release. Yet they put one on the gas 🤦

Depending on what style amp you use half bridge versus full bridge depends on the kind of damage you'll have on the voice coil a subwoofer builder when you blow a sub they will be able to tell you if you're using a half bridge amp or a full bridge amp🎉
The recone kit for the Kicker solox 15"is $229, i have an orion hcca 15" recone kit is $339. Something to think about. But i did put over 10krms to it before it blew
Thank you for your awesome content Parker. I have just one question. If it has dual 2 ohm coils why did the SMD meter read only 2 ohms and not 1 ohm when you were trying to kill the sub? Based off my observation did you just send 3000 watts only to one coil?
Impedance rises when you put power to any sub. People call it “box rise”. So even tho it is wired to 1 ohm. The impedance will often rise to 2, 3, or even 4 ohms
@@ParkerTheBasshead Thanks for the reply! Just weird that the SMD was reading 2 ohms even when no tone was loudly playing except for 34 watts, while you were speaking.
Bro. I would love to see you showcase the Stereo Integrity SQL lineup and Image Dynamics IDMAX. I know you typically stick to SPL donkers but, as a subscriber, I can almost guarantee you've got an SQL/SQ audience who would love to hear your thoughts on the 2 most discussed SQL subs available today. Also, have you ever considered branching off into the midbass/mids world and start checking out some of these 6x9s & 6.5 comps?
Love the no glue recone assembly not sure if I remember but the original solox could it be reconed without having to take the sub out the enclosure or did you need to to align the coil ??
If I were you, I'd devise some other way to open your trunk! Like attaching a outside lever or string or something! You've had to crawl back there a lot through the years! 😅
Could you do an extended version of the video where you show and explain how the recone worked? I like stuff like that just as much as watching it being played. I don't mind if you do a voice-over. Just the 11 minutes of reconing would suffice. :)
Great video as usual, would love to see what caused that drop in to start rattling as I wonder if the spider landing just came loose from the basket. As per my comment on part one of this test, I'd love to get that blown recone from you and if you could sign it I'd build it into the mutant sub I have a basket and motor for.
I'd wire a string down to that latch that you could tug on forget that dismantling everything that would drive me crazy bro.. some Paracord or masons line or hell fishing line would work 👍
if i had to guess id say some some of the bottom bolts vibrated loose and then the coil was moving crooked and that might wy theres a scratch on 1 side of the coil probly could of tighten the bolts on the coil pack and it would of went longer but if thats what happend hmmmm wonder if lock tight on the bottom bolts would be a good thing
Is there anyway you could possibly review the Kicker CompRT, I have a truck and want to see if these would be a good option to buy since I have kicker everything else. The reviews out there do not test them like you do so it would be cool if did.
The fact these subs can be reconed so easily, has 20% more cone area than their round counterparts, the (minimum!) power rating is damn 2000 watts and it’s efficient is utterly ridiculous…. I don’t think people understand how efficient of a driver that is on paper with the right setup that’s straight up ridiculous how capable the solox is at handling big power but also being efficient at receiving power to where you barely have to use a full 4K watts to get crazy spl out of this sub in the right setup
Basshead Fam, question: I'm running a DeafBonce sa-302 rated at 2K rms in my work truck\daily driver on 1500.1 at 1ohm. With impedance rise and stock electrical on a 2018 RAM 1500 would I be better off with an sa-272 rated at the 1500rms or an even less rated rms DB sub for maximum slam?? And, if so, Parker you got one you want swap for the 302? 😇
Yo Parker (or comments section) I get a pretty large bonus at the end of this year and I already have a skar zvx 15 and I love it but I do t like how inaccurate it can be at times with fast paced kicks and 808. I want something that has great longevity and volume but doesn’t compromise sound quality. Would this sub fix my issues, I have always loved kicker but have never owned a solobaric. Thank yall
12:40 I would have liked for you to have pulled the cone to see why it started to sound like that. Was it a cracked or deformed coil and former, or was it the spider? then you could have put it back to burn it up. Just something to consider if you find your self making a similar vid. I love the intel i get from channels like yours so dont take it the wrong way bud. Edit: At the end, I would have liked to have seen a lot closer to the inner part of the cone spider and coil structure for failure analysis.
So what was wrong with the sub right before his hatch lid malfunctioned? He glossed over that and went straight to blowing the sub up instead of showing what he found when he pulled it apart. Seems like he is withholding something to me.
Thank you BassHeads! Please hit that like button to help support the channel 🔊💪🏼

Can u test the new down4sound subwoofer when it comes out. Its for pre order now
I’d definitely like to!
Can you do a subwoofer test on the Hammer Tech HCU 15" dual 2 ohm subwoofer please?
Is there anyway you could possibly review the Kicker CompRT, I have a truck and want to see if these would be a good option to buy since I have kicker everything else. The reviews out there do not test them like you do so it would be cool if did.
Wow I just ordered mine 2 days Ago and built box
The fact these subs can be reconed so easily, has 20% more cone area than their round counterparts, the (minimum!) power rating is damn 2000 watts and it’s efficient is utterly ridiculous…. I don’t think people understand how efficient of a driver that is on paper with the right setup that’s straight up ridiculous how capable the solox is at handling big power but also being efficient at receiving power to where you barely have to use a full 4K watts to get crazy spl out of this sub in the right setup
I would like to have two of these the 10-inch model in a duel aero Port box.
I thought blown meant damage to the driver due to a burst of power, this was just overheating due to continuous wattage.
Good content I'm thinking about getting some thanks to you
Basshead Fam, question: I'm running a DeafBonce sa-302 rated at 2K rms in my work truck\daily driver on 1500.1 at 1ohm. With impedance rise and stock electrical on a 2018 RAM 1500 would I be better off with an sa-272 rated at the 1500rms or an even less rated rms DB sub for maximum slam?? And, if so, Parker you got one you want swap for the 302? 😇
Put 4 of these in the kicker quad box lol on 4 of the new warhorse 3600 amp.
Spending all that money just to put in that cheap ass quad box is diabolical lol
I would love to see one of these Kicker Solo X 15s vs a Sundown Xv3 15
Me too
I second that!!! That would be dope!
What's the price comparison give or take
Power full 💪😱
Had 4 solo x 12s old school ones in a 4th blow through in a 05 ram srt10 lol
Hey Parker would you say the kicker is the best sub you've ever heard ⁉️
Pyle makes a square speaker you should buy it n try it
You should do American Bass Godzilla vs Deaf Bonce 3512r
I got 3 of these man i cant fuckin wait
So the sub is loud, how does it sound though?
Very cool. Parker
I appreciate you
@@ParkerTheBasshead Been watching you for a couple of years. Glad to see you getting some live from companies sending you product.
I like the fact you like bass, the only problem I see you never show how you wiring the speakers or subwoofers
Edit:
At the end, I would have liked to have seen a lot closer to the inner part of the cone spider and coil structure for failure analysis.
Man I want one of those 😅.
Can you review dayton's ultimax ii?
What was box tuning for this kicker ?
Hell ya bro another bas ass video keep it up and u guys stay safe
crazy vid ,am keep it up
How does that hit so hard? I have 2 12s at 2500rms each on a 6krms amp and its not even close to moving that much air
Want to see u play at least 4 a those bad Boyz!
I want to put 2 10's in my truck whats the best budget subs and mono block amp you recomend?
All depends on the space you have and alternator under the hood
Man there are dudes 6'5 225lbs in Germany and Brazil that be standing on top of the cones of their subs with work boots on
I hope they make a 10" or even an 8" that would be sick
They do have a 10 inch
They do make a 10 and is ready to be bought
They have 10, 12 , and 15's.
So what was wrong with the sub right before his hatch lid malfunctioned? He glossed over that and went straight to blowing the sub up instead of showing what he found when he pulled it apart. Seems like he is withholding something to me.
U should try zeroflex 15 evo or evo xl
is dual 4 ohm better than dual 2 ohm?
Did the spider coil fail?
Sub is a monster
Get it through your head your the one blowing your subwoofers okay, have a nice day 👍
