Should have put the sub in the box before you dropped it. That completely ruined the test. You don't know if the damage is caused by the drops or the sub.
the box was damaged after the last fall, you can see when it's in the trunk, and he's next to the woofer about to put that in, the upper left corner is BENT, imho this video is pointless and doesn't prove anything.
drop test is stupid anyways, what is this a phone case test? who the fuk drops sub enclosures. like what others said, compromised the box before putting in the sub. pointless fukkin video
I know a guy who is running 4 of these boxes with 4 Kenwood kfc (the fake carbon face subs) and he’s got two pioneer 1000 amps in them. I guesstimate he’s pushing 200/250 rms per sub. And man that thing is doing 140s in the kick. Blows my mind.
yea 500$ system being single sub budget amp and prefab box does 140s. Hell im floating stuff in my front windo, wish i could get metered @dextermorgan1
Bruh what? @RandoManFPV you "wish you could get metered"? You sound pretty lazy and unresourceful to me. Grow up and quit playing with shitty Chinese junk speakers kid
I had one of these boxes back in the day. I glued all the joints with clear silicone and then added probably twenty, one inch drywall screws to it. It held up fairly well and I eventually gave it away.
No liquid nails no Wood glue come on every basshead knows you need a box with at least 50 drywall screws and liquid nails I bet that box would do a lot better with the basshead treatment ❤
I built one of those boxes too for a 10" cerwin vega. I'm running sealed at 400 watts rms. It's fine. Don't follow the directions. Rip off the foam tape at the seams. Glue and brad it together. Make a few triangle braces for the mid points of all the joints with some 3/4 plywood laying around along with some longer braces on the inside lip of the front baffle. I added a $10 binding post terminal block. For $38 it was a steal. I couldn't go buy the wood and carpet for that much in Alaska. The internal size is perfect for the requirements for the vega. Hits nice.
I had my sundown Xv3 12's in the loaded Skar EVL box with center port and metal mesh lol. It blew the box apart pretty quickly 😂 i love when u do these weird videos! Alot more ppl than youd think uses this Wal-Mart equipment.
I think you should do a round two with the same box but put wood glue on the seams & see if it stays together under the same test conditions you used 😅
I put up a video on my channel a couple of years ago asking people if when they build boxes, do they just use screws, Brad nails, or just wood glue? So I put a couple of boards together with just Brad nails and wood glue. Then after it had all dried, I took a sledge hammer to the boards and the wood separated but the wood glue and Brad nails never failed! So if I were to buy a cheap box like that, I would have used wood glue on all mating surfaces, and then use some 18 gauge Brad nails to hold it all in place till the glue dried. Just to ensure it was sealed up good, I would have gone over all of the inside seams with silicone.
Scosche is actually pretty legit in the DIY space of car audio. Can't speak for the boxes, but the electronics are decent. Could be better, but they're far beyond the cheap amazon and ebay garbage out there
You have to assemble it yourself. The only advantage to a cheap premade box is that you don't have to assemble it. They can't even get that part right.
People won't believe this but I bought 2 of these sealed boxes built them accordingly to directions but also used gorilla wood glue on the inside seams to seal this box air tight then went to best buy and bought 2 12 inch kicker comp R d2 Wich best holds in stock I already had a taramps smart 3k amp for my subs I installed the subs and makes a longer story short they almost would take the whole smart 3k and did a whopping 147 db in a 2007 scion tc I ran these subs for about 10 days untill I got parts in for my skar vxf 12inch rebuilds after I rebuilt my vxf I did 150.3 at slamology in northern Kentucky
BoxBuildingBasics 1.) glue all panels at joints when assembling, using screws or clamps to pull joints together tight 2.) caulk joints (from the inside) after assembly * use minimum of 3/4" thick MDF or plywood for enclosure ** t-nuts and machine screws are the cat's pajamas for mounting woofer into enclosure *** double up thickness of baffle if subs weigh more than you
You should do a head to head competition of walmart pioneer 12 inch against poweracoustik versus jensen. How loud how much wattage to blow each of them? Or do just the Pioneer sub. I would like to see it in action!
I’ve owned a couple of these enclosures in the past. I remember when they were $35. I sealed them with liquid nails and worked well for a small daily setup.
Not bad for a carpet covered paper cabinet. If I'm ever in the market for one, I'd definitely consider something else. Fun video as always! Thanks for the laughs Parker!
To be honest this box with a few little tweaks wouldn't be bad. Use some liquid nails on the seams, add a few braces around the face and a few extra screws along the edges while it is curing and for about $55 and a small amount of extra work you have a decent little box. Also that 130lb subwoofer facing up would be a lot less stressful for the box. It wouldn't even be hard to make a nice second layer for the face of the box too. Make it much stronger.
Omg such a nice video that was my dream to see what would happen to such a cheap box with a quality heavy weight sub u made my life i can die in peace now hopefully there are comming more videos like this! ur the best Greetings from germany :)

Should have did a DB meter with that sub in the cheap box b4 you destroyed it. Then put it in a decent custom box to compare the differences
