13 year olds have no business live streaming
Seems reasonable
I was 13 in Jan 88... good thing I had a fishing pole and a bicycle!
Can't do that type of thing anymore. Kids are hated.
I got detained fishing as a boy because I needed a license AND a guardian. Go figure
@@FeedMeSalt when we're you 13? I always had to have a fishing license, even then, unless I was on a private lake(yes, that's a thing up here in the forests of Michigan)
I just got a ticket today for forgetting a PFD in my fishing Kayak. Civil infraction that cost me 75 dollars BEFORE I go buy a seat cushion PFD. Good times, good times...
the fact that she kept apologizing for her suicidal thoughts and saying she was disgusting or her thoughts where disgusting is just so heartbreaking
And it's a negative feedback loop, so it just gets worse and worse until she finally ended it.

My son was only nine when he started telling me that he wanted to die because of all of the bullying at school. There was no internet influence yet. He was just small for his age. I took it VERY seriously! I took him for mental health treatment but he didn’t like medication. Alternatively, we spent many sleepless nights while I listened to his concerns and tried to give him coping methods. I’m not trying to say I’m a perfect parent. I struggled as he grew into a teenager. But, he lives and functions as a healthy adult.
Oh, I'm so relieved to hear that he is doing fine now. Well done, parent. You took very good care of your child.
i'm sure he's appreciates your concern and actions beyond words, you done a great job :)

There was also a case of a Chinese livestreamer named Little Kitty who also took her life in a livestream, but the worst thing was that the viewers were bullying her and telling her to drink bleach she had on hand, which.. yeah, you can guess what she did. But the story doesn't end there - after she died someone stole her body in order to sell her, so a man could marry her ghost (look up "chinese ghost marriage").
I think I've heard it all now...
This comment just kept getting more and more wild. 🫢

It's sad that she decided to end her own life without knowing much on what caused her to do it. Plus she's 13 and had kept her struggles to herself to a point that she can't endure it.
I hope she found peace in the afterlife.
agreed, this was a hard one for me to get through. I have a little sister the same age and would feel awful if she were to ever go through something similar.
I don't think science supports the afterlife theory more than the reincarnation theory, but i think she kinda shows how important it is to help young kids. This shits fucking crazy. 13. That's such a tragically short life
She didn't keep it to herself. It's reported that she told their parents but they just told her "it's a phase". It's also referenced in the song from Shinsei Kamattechan

Social media is so unhealthy... especially for young minds. We'd all be better off if it had never existed.
Didn’t have to see the words in the thumbnail to recognize this girl. Despite her short life she won’t be forgotten.
Already Fogotten
@@chiapets2594 I just remebered her yesterday, so I wouldn't say that she was forgotten

Even people who have monuments themselves are forgotten. I'm pretty sure a person committing suicide online(which a lot of people have already done themselves) would easily be forgotten as well. The next generation of people will surely not know who she is and even I wouldn't know who she is without Dire Trip. Don't ever have a mindset that would make you think committing suicide will make you a "legend" because that's just downright wrong.
@@mansnothot1284 She died? I thought she murdered someone while streaming, that's what I thought the title was alluding to.
I cant believe anyone would think its smart or acceptable to make her death into a "challenge". Disgusting.

What is so vicious about these cases is the audience egging the streamer to commit these horrific acts. I don't know if you covered the case of the model who committed suicide by drinking pesticide while streaming. In that case, the audience dared her to drink it.
Thank you for this particular story. It's exceptionally sad but necessary to keep alive.
Just a thought: Would be cool if you included some sites or helpline numbers when you talk about this topic somewhere in the beginning or end of the video. Could actually aid the issue with your viewership. Hugs!
juat like what "This is Monster" do! :D
She keeps repeating "daite" but also included "haha" as in the conversational way of referring to her mom. Seems like she was mentally slipping there and not really meaning it in a sexual manner.
I wish we could know for sure. The implications could be disturbing.
Nah, don't reach that far. She was reading the chat there, the comments were telling her to read aloud "haah... Haah... daite..." As in moaning or panting while saying "hold me, hold me"
She probably leared the technical (how to keep contact) and s*xual stuff from her grooming audience. This case is maddening and horrifying.

Poor girl, she in many ways set the precedent for the current state of young people on social media. Parents, don't let your children be on social media at a young age, it might get them entertained for a while but it's terrible for their mental development
Honestly. My sibling's children have unfettered internet access and are so fucked up because of it. The oldest has been exposed to far too much, far too young and it breaks my heart.
They thought I was so lame a few years ago because my kids weren't allowed on social media or tictok. The oldest recently revealed that when she was younger, she was jealous that my kids had someone who said "No" sometimes instead of saying "Yes" because it was "easier". It broke my heart
it wasn’t just her access to the internet. She was bullied at school and isolated. Judging by how often she was online, her parents weren’t looking out and she might’ve been neglected emotionally.
My children want to have a UA-cam channel soooo bad and I absolutely REFUSE (they are 11 and 9)
My husband and I have talked to them about the dangers of being online and that it is very hard for children to comprehend the gravity of what that entails. I told them we would have a further discussion about it when they are a lot older and can understand what having their own channel means.
@@kianeko2120 KEEP REFUSING! Do NOT back down!

@@Brett-yq7pj I'm not allowed to say what you sound like.

Behaviorist here. This is what happens when there are people in a child's life who they want to love and respect them that just have expectations of them (like overbearing parents, which from my understanding is more common in Japan than in America, at least) not to say that they aren't loved, but it's harder for some people to show it than others. Combine a child's formative environment being that with their lives at school and that's where there gets to be problems. Sometimes friend count is irrelevant, if there is someone/people that they want to like them that just bully them, all it takes is for the bullies to say "Go die" and sometimes the kids think everyone who both does and doesn't like them will love them if they can please their abusers.
I've never heard of Roro Chan before, what a sad, sad story.
It's quite sad that even if the world start to acknowledge the impact of mental illness and suicide, it's still consider a taboo or many people try yet couldn't help the victims. To those who are still suffering, please you are not alone, even if we can't reach or find you, because you are strong, you are going to get better, we believe in you.

Dire Trip said that live streaming is at an all time high and mental health is at an all time low. The good that social media has done for society compared to the absolute devastation it has caused the world can't be compared. Social media is best for those who are well mentally but poison for those who are not. UA-cam is my only outlet because I prefer not to go down the rabbit hole myself.

"Child depression doesn't exist and they can't think about suicide or wish to die." - I hope she found peace and friends now, wherever she might be.
Nard
There was a ten year old boy in the US who ended himself after he was bullied, sadly it happens when it shouldn’t.
Ive been depressed and suicidal since I was 4. Its definitely real
My depression started when I 12. For years my parents thought I was just a moody teen until I was diagnosed later on and put on antidepressants. For me it was simply a case of bad genetics. I would never want to go back to being a kid.
What are you talking about? Children definitely can be depressed. What a weird thing to say…
This story is so sad. It makes me sadder to think she would have been my age if she were still alive today. May she rest in peace.
My daughter did that damn Momo challenge. She ran up the stairs in tears screaming “they won’t stop!” Her phone dinging over and over again in a barrage of horrible images from a Japanese number with Japanese characters. The pics were terrifying. We took her phone away for a looong time, and she still denies she submitted her number, but obviously she did- that challenge is exactly targeted at girls her exact age. we watch her activity like a hawk and she’s totally restricted and not allowed on Discord and all that other crap, only talks with friends. She’s good now, but damn, what sick MF’S.
That's exactly why they were telling us in the NINETIES not to give our contact info to strangers. There's always gonna be sickos out there. But it's good you took action instead of just letting her continue to get into worse shit. And just to be clear I don't mean like "oh you should've been watching her BEFOREHAND", I'm not blaming you for trusting your kid wouldn't do something that stupid. I just wonder why the hell kids these days seem to do that stupid stuff more? Did they stop telling kids in school to be careful?
@@FrenkTheJoyI don't think it's simply a case of kids do stupid stuff more now, I think it's a combination of more opportunity to connect to random people and more evidence of stupid things happening because it gets posted online. It's way more obvious to an adult why that kind of stuff is a bad idea and a kid's brain physically hasn't developed the full ability to calculate risks to the level an adult's has. You can tell a kid so many times not to talk to strangers online, but it only takes one time for them to think "well this situation is different they're my friend" or they think someone's threats are genuine. And there's simply now just more opportunities to be in contact with random people than there was before. I do feel for parents nowadays - how are you meant to monitor what your kid gets up to when they are connected to the internet 24/7? I grew up in the early 2000s before smartphones were a popular thing and even then my parents had no idea what I got up to online. I did plenty of stupid things because I was told not to share info with strangers, but in my head they weren't strangers they were my friends. I understand why now, I was a very lonely kid and these people online were the only ones who gave me any kind of positive attention.
I can relate to her anguish, her wish to be accepted for who she is and just not be alone all the time. In my opinion her parents failed her the most. Second: Society. No one cares anymore, all that counts is money and/or power.
you’re doing great dude

its crazy to think how Japan is usually seen as a safe happy country. But evrytime something happens that involves murder or suicide etc its always gruesome/horrific.
Generally it is a safe country, but definitely has major mental health issues. Suicide rates are high.
Are all of us not guilty of the addiction of the internet? Almost every single one of us have an addiction to social media in some way, if it’s UA-cam or Twitter or Facebook or TikTok all of us are guilty.
It affects all of us in a different way some people are aggressive and some get famous, some can only wish for fame. Some are bullied relentlessly and some go out of their way to bully people. ITS A ENDLESS CYCLE.
Guilty.

Well you're wrong
@@Brett-yq7pj You are even more wrong.
I don't think it was about being a legend so much as sounding like she's sick, not well, sad
This is why my child - we live in Japan - has no social media presence. Literally. She is not even shown with her face on screen, in family photos, doesn’t have a cell phone, isn’t allowed on the internet. Her school has limited in school only access, but no cameras. Parents aren’t even allowed to take photos at school events except at school festivals and the students have to wear masks when doing so. At her after school program she goes to they are only allowed to post photos of students whose parents have signed release forms allowing students to have their photos posted. We haven’t allowed it. Maybe we are being too overprotective, however a couple of years ago some p**o was parking his car outside of the school across the street and taking photos of the children as the exited the school. At our station a different guy jumped out of some bushes with his…parts showing and grabbed at a middle schooler.
This is such a disturbing story. I feel so sorry for this girl. I feel like her parents should have been more involved however….honestly a lot of parents are just so busy. Most parents here both have to work and depend on kids to take care of themselves. Mental health care here is honestly TRASH, and I say this as someone with issues myself. I wish I could get help and have been trying for YEARS. It’s to the point my doctor has recommended to my family that I go back to my own home country for care because Japan just is so far behind on mental health care. If you have ANY issues at all, Japan is not the country for you. At all. Don’t think coming here will help you in any, shape, or form. It is a strict, rigid, harsh society. Expectations are very high. The bar is set exceptionally high and any failure or weakness is frowned upon. The stress will pile on more and more and you will be expected to step up and just get over it, and there is no help offered to you.
So…yeah, sorry to be bleak and a downer. Just being BRUTALLY honest. (Sorry, Kyle!)
My heart goes out to the girl and her family. I’m so glad you covered this, though, and brought some coverage to a very honest and truthful problem of Japanese society. This happens literally every day to kids, teens, adults. I think it’s only recently S Korea surpassed Japan in number of unalives per year, but it’s honestly RIDICULOUS the amount of people per year in both countries. People don’t even bat an eye. In fact, people legitimately find it more obnoxious than anything else.
You might like a UA-camr called Let'sAskShogo. He does a lot of videos about social problems in Japan and cares deeply about these types of issues. I hope there can be more acceptance and treatment for people suffering from mental health conditions in Japan - and really, worldwide - in the future. Although I'm from the US, where things aren't *as* bad, I definitely have experienced a certain level of these attitudes (intolerance of failure/weakness, pressure to be successful, "nobody cares about your problems, get over it" attitudes). Japan seems lovely otherwise, but I can't imagine being in a place that's much worse than anything I've dealt with re: mental health. My heart goes out to others who struggle with mental health, especially in tough cultures.
Once again...
Thank you Sir
That stream of mentally unwell spiraling was so uncomfortably familiar. I spent several years with that degree of intrusive thinking on a near constant basis.

Great video! I think the only misconceptions are that she was bullied and that she was neglected from by family. Most testimonies from her old viewers stated that Roro lived in a pretty average household. Her mom was a bit strict about grades but viewers said that her father would calm her mom down whenever she’d get upset. It’s also stated that Roro would have a lunch prepared for her when she’d get home from school leftover by her mom. About the bullying it’s not really proven that she ever got bullied it’s more of just a myth. Friends of her and classmates just stated that she was a quiet kid who kept to herself and was smart with computers and had a few friends. I’m pretty sure there was an online obituary for her made by those she knew but that got shut relatively quickly
literally, hate how inaccurate this video is considering the topic. he should’ve done more research via the reddit or the website dedicated to her.
Also, I'm pretty sure there are chatlogs from the original stream that disprove the belief that Roro was encouraged by her audience to jump.
@@Romax-pg2is I was gonna write about that too! Pretty sure most people in the chat logs told her to go back inside because of the cold weather and some were a bit erotic but nobody was really egging her on to jump
@@i8asnickers Right? I was thinking the same! The story goes a lot deeper and a few dives into the Subreddit or a few Google searches debunk these myths. I feel bad for her parents, imagine losing your child and then reading about a bunch of wackos on the internet accusing you of abuse. I think people forget that she was an actual person with actual loved ones and they treat this case in a more dramatized manner as if she were an urban legend.
She was only 13 years old?! How tragic. Parents need to protect their kids from the dangers of the internet. All this activity and her parents had no idea? smh btw, childhood depression is a very real thing.

Surprisingly, I actually know Shinsei Kamattechan, but I didn’t know about this song, or if I did, I wasn’t aware of the lore behind it until now (to be fair, I don’t speak Japanese, and I was never really “into” the Concept of “Lyrics”, regardless of the Language, but now I am obligated to look into it). Actually, now that I think about it, the only Album of theirs that I’ve listened to more than once came out in 2010, before she “became a Legend”...
Either way, the Subject Matter of this Video, and the way that you told the Story, was quite disturbing, and I mean that in the best possible way, because that is one of the best things about your Channel in general. 👍

How very sad… a lonely girl and no doubt a heart broken family.
I had a DS for years but I didn't know you could do that either
Is so crazy how bad we want something that can cause us our insanity and maybe even our own lives 😔
People only care about the bullied after they’re d**d… I honestly hate reading all the comments here… cause the vast majority of people act like they care so much when they watch a video of someone who exited stage left, but wouldn’t even bother to help someone they didn’t know get a quarter for a bus ride (let alone try to save someone’s life). Especially if it meant going out of their way without reward.
If this was happing right now, still no one would do anything, cause no one does anything for the kids who are bullied today cause it’s not important to them until they want to look like a “good, kind, caring person.” We all just stand by and say sh** like, “Kids will be kids, just ignore them,” cause we don’t want a hassle, and then this stuff happens. People need to ACTIVELY ATTEMPT TO STOP BULLYING or it will never go away.
Preemptively talking about it does nothing but give other bullies ideas on how to bully others more effectively. The bullies are taking notes on every thing they see in these videos and on the news. This makes them feel like they accomplished something big and they’re proud of it. They’re happy to see us upset about this in the comments.
If anyone actually cared about kids being bullied, we wouldn’t have bullies- period. People everywhere would stand up and stop them before anything happened. But instead very, very, very few actually make the attempt to try, while most sit by silently. Pay more attention to your children, people; vigilance is the only way. People need to learn it’s not okay to do this, but it’s like no one is punishing them enough for it. This should be considered M*RD*R, not SU*C*DE, and the people responsible should be in prison for life.
It’s devastating. I can’t even begin to imagine how her parents feel. They’ll forever be punishing themselves for not knowing their daughter was so low. I have a seventeen year old and I’m boarder line obsessive about making sure he’s safe online. The “deal” was if he had the internet then we (his parents) would check his phone/laptop daily and the occasional random checks to make sure everything is okay. I’m so glad we did. Wherever this young girl is now, I hope she’s at peace and no longer “controlled” by her demons. 💔
This is so damn sad. 😭
