I thought this was a family channel and I tune in and Mini's being blown! 😱😄
🤣😆🧀
I normally come here for the food reviews but, every now and then, you impress me with more than just your ability to eat. Nice!!
🤣👍🧀🧀
Working in garage, wearing a Leather Jacket, a man of High Class tastes.
Haha. Look at the mess it is! Boat parts, mini truck parts jeep, motorcycle parts... I'm out of room!
wow that was an exciting episode, i cant wait to see the next episode when Mini gets the AFR Gauge and tuned in.
i really want to see what your AFR is now with the actual jet now
You da man. Many dream of a blown engine most end up with blown engines.
Could pulley size regulate the amount of boost?
How much mileage change was there?
I'm under driven on the pulley right now. Not sure if mileage yet
This job requires ambition , determination , skill, intelligence , knowledge , ability , patience....Who you gonna call? Mo-to-cheeze! Excellent work, and like you, I hope Mini can take the extra thrust without breaking her. Very impressive work.
😁👍👍
Haven’t watched any updates on, “Mini” for a while. This is awesome! I’ll bet that probably really helps her in certain situations.
cant wait to get one, i live near the ross dealership and been meaning to grab a minitruck from them. i cannot wait for this truck!
I think this channel has made a LOT of people want one of these little guys/gals! I know I want one now 😁😂🤣😂😁. I live in Metro Denver though so I can’t get one damn it 🤦🏻♂️ 😆. Been thinking about moving to Northern Idaho though to be closer to family. That would be a good place for one.
@@SVMSICE There's a guy in my area that works for the Town who's been driving one of these mini-trucks as a daily for a while. Way before Moto Cheeze decided to get one. Though unlike Cheezy's Mini here his is set up for road use so I've only ever seen it with some alloy car wheels and some all season tires. I'd love to get one myself but I don't have the money for one. That and a truck payment doesn't help. :)
That feeling, when you're halfway through your supercharger installation and realize that if the job exceeds your skills and you need to call a pro to finish it, you'll be calling a plumber instead of a mechanic.
You definitely voided your warranty with this awesome upgrade.
😁👍 it perfect now
Watch out tiny tonka!!
Hell yes 👏🏿 back in “Cheezy’s Garage” 🦾
YESSS!!! thanks for the upload man, Just what i needed to start my day!
Best video ever? Totally awesome project! Exactly what every mini needs- 4-6 pounds of boost. Gotta admit you had me scared silly- not on the road, but when you were working close quarters on a band saw. Bigger cajones than me, friend! Seriously, great job; look forward to seeing this get refined.
I make sure my fingers are out of harms way
That tiny supercharger is so cool. I have a 87 samurai with the stock 1.3 with 63 hp. I'd love to run one of those superchargers on it. 😁🤘
I want to on mine also
Mini boost. Meep meep.
I don't know how I missed this one. Gotta love Tractor Supply.
Very Cool rigging... Look out Tiny Tonka...!!!
Awesome Upgrade for MINI!
Best Wishes with this addition. 👍
Cheez just keeps on delivering!
Lol, Mini got her freak on. Go Mini!
Mini just joined the supercharged mini truck club like her sambar cousins! You should put a supercharged decal on mini!
Already working on the decal 😁. Have bug to work out too on next video ..
Great job and Video 📹. I've been waiting for this video for a long time! Mini is awesome.
Thanks, so have I!
This somehow comes at exactly the time that I just ordered an AMR for my Suzuki Carry! Excited to see that others are trying this with similar trucks.
Don't use the choke once drawn through.... You'll see why next video lol
Still want one! Someday, in the mean time I have the matchbox truck as a small reminder for a goal! Want mine to have the exact options as yours and I have realized they seem to be rare with all the options… Really enjoy the vids even the ones just us riding around with you 🤣. I just recently videoed a crank shaft seal replacement (haven’t posted yet) and kudos to you for getting the shots and editing everything! 💯
I’ve been really excited about this. This is really fucking cool. As expected the tuning process seems to me like it’s going to be the most difficult part. I hope you’re better at tuning things than I am. I hope it works perfectly. Even though I like the Tonka truck I want to see him in your rearview mirror.
Awesome video man!
I’d just drive like you normally do and only get into the boost when you need it, like steep hills and stuff. Just to preserve the engine life.
That's exactly how I'm going to drive it!
@@MotoCheez 👍
Wow... excellent job!!
I want the time to do the projects, your garage and equipment. I watch your vids while I work my boring computer job all day. thanks for the videos!
Awesome! Thanks. Do a few projects, they're fun
this is awesome -- mini will stomp tiny now!
Yep!
Mini wasn't scared. She slept through the whole thing.
Tiny Tonka is about to eat some dust I think .
Definitely
Nice project, Cheezy!
Mini's got a growl to her now...Nice fabrication skills, I'm impressed, good job...I think we have the same tap set..Man I'll bet mini will do 80--90 now, not sure I'd want to go that fast in a mini truck, but nice to no you could if ya had to...Good stuff, cheese master....
This is huge for the mini truck community.
This is relevant to my interests.
brilliant..really enjoyed this thanks for sharing.👍🏼
Get your bowl to see the boosted side for correct vacuum reference. There will always be vacuum just under the carb on the roots blower.
Ye ha learned something new.
Nice backyard fabbing going to have to nickname you MacGyver..
Well you might not know who that is unless you're old enough hahaha.
Can't wait to see Mini all dialed in.
Great video thanks for sharing it 😁
I'm definitely old enough, been called that many times😁 thanks!🧀
Good job!
Thanks!
SuperCheezCharged! Love it!
🤣
Oh hell yeah
Thats awesome. I'd say a diy success. Might want to keep an eye on the bracketry at the charger.
I've been tightening bolts and checking. Brackets staying put, the original belt I used loosened and had some issues... Put farm belt on and ordered a kevlar
Been waiting on this vid. Sure hope you don't overwork the little fellow, not that I think that. I know Mini is a member of the family but I would like to see you upgrade someday to fuel injection and they tell me that happened about '98, my Hijet is '98 according to the seat belts and it is FI. The thing about FI over the carbs is they always start and run the same. Great video!
Thanks. Couldn't find an EFI conversion and can't have a 98 legally here until it's 25 years ol imported...
Macgyver and mini should been the titled but I figured super charger is air gets pushed into the carb not having the fuel and air go thur the supercharger but I could be wrong but still you definitely macgyver it and made it work good job and video...
Takes a special carburetor to be able to blow air through it. Couldn't find one this small...
The fuel bowl vents and other parts would blow air out and flood carb also slam butterfly closed...
@@MotoCheez oh I see well I never supercharge a carburetor so that makes sense.....
WATCH OUT TONKA
goodjob
You are getting there!! The fuel consumption will take a pretty hard hit. It may be offset a bit by less need for throttle to keep up you underway.
It will maybe take just a little longer, but,,,,,,,,,,, Tiny Tonka and Jeffro are looking like they have their work cut out!! Hahaha. I have never supercharged anything less than a V6. I did a Chevy Luv with a 4.3 V6 (160 hp back then) and supercharged it with a 471 blower. It was supposed to be about 230 hp. Back then that was huge hp in a mini truck. It had the lightweight “California Step Side” conversion so I had 255/60s on the back and 235/yes on the front with Centreline wheels. It was a very cool, and RELIABLE, vehicle. It would roast the tires at 45 mph so I’m not sure of the torque, but would estimate it at about 300 lb ft down very low. Dyno testing was not so common back then as it is today,,,,,, 1983 (?) or so. I was able to place second at a local “World of Wheels” competition, exhibition. Was beat out by a big block Chevy C10 stepside!! Everything was polished on that truck. Mine was not polished. Regardless, I put well over 50,000 miles on that and sold it to some father and son in Calgary. Not sure what has come of it now,,,,,,,. It was a very fast, nimble and fun truck. Useless as a Corvette, but fun. It was faster than a stock corvette, even the 1984 when they came out.
I really hope Mini stays reliable and is as fun as I had with the Chevy Luv. It looks like you have pumped her up to 70-75 hp. Torque would be a very hard guess to make. Probably a 50% increase as low as 1100 - 1200 rpm!! That why you hardly have to give it gas. As you know,,,,, torque, and relatively gobs of it, is the best fun!! Next is the Jeep!!! Hahaha.
Great video Mr MotoCheez!!! Catch ya later!
Awesome! I did notice the torque is way higher
Great job, you want the top roller bandsaw guides just above whatever you are cutting
I know but just doing straight cuts basically..
Now that you know the setup works, I would take it all apart and custom tig weld all aluminum tubing in a smaller package and better supports.
Wish I could tig aluminum!
Looks like you got it…..funny how a little forced air changes things , haha .keep her in one piece Moto good job .let us know how she takes that mountain road .
It does make a decent difference
OMG it worked
Run a bracket from the supercharger to the bottom of the body, just aft of the cab. There are already bolt holes there.
The engine is on rubber mounts. Has to mount back to engine
Fuel pressure would also be nice to know... m'be even blower oil temp if you can get a sensor to thread into the oil fill and "T" off? Do you need to run a different heat range on your plugs now too? Looks like Jeffro had better look out now !
Fuel pressure good idea, lower heat range was also recommended by my friend who does boosted cars
"Should have known better...9:08......" Richard Marx 🤣
Time to tear tiny Tonka a new one
Once she's all tuned in, yep!
Mini gonna take Tiny now. LOL
The winds of chesse
Ja be very carefull with a little boost. Stoich ratio for gas is 14. 7. U want to see high 12s low 13s at wide open throttle in mini on the lambda. Best to to choose from is the Bosch lsu 4.2 or lsu 4.9. I heard from a little research the 4.2 seems a little more durable.
hell at 24:00 you could a just got reinforced hose out of the back of oriellys, pull base timing out of it...considering ur up in CT what ur elevation and u might be at 53HP na at sea level. add boost for elevation to keep up with thinner air.
Don't have an O'Reilly around me. Only 500ft above seal level here.
Wow 😳👍
Looks like the fun factor just went waay up. Did you vent the crank case? I'm unfamiliar with these motors but I'd hate to have you blow some seals out. I've done that before....
It's vented pretty good. No blowby so the rings are good! 😁
When fully worked up, we will need a dyno pull and a dragstrip pass! How was the supercharger temp while driving? Any cooling provisions needed?
I dunno about a drag strip. 😁. Sofar temps seem good but I'm not pushing it til tuned in
Blowin mini now ehh!?!? Lmao awesome video. This is the cheeziness i come here for!
Nice..I might try the 500 on my Scrum..
300 good to 1.3L why the 500?
@@MotoCheez Because someone has to..LOL
Dude - you are a fucking genius!! I love your vids & you inspire me to try things I never thought possible. Thank you for sharing & keep them coming. YOU are awesome!!!
Thanks!!🧀🧀🧀
Farmer'sDe Tomaso Daihatsu had a partnership.
2cool man
Set your timing about 4 degrees lower than factory and run 91 or higher octane gas. A roots blower mounted on the intake will run with no belt, runs like shit at idle but they are not air tight.
I did retard the timing 4 degrees, super I ly from now in for sure. I didn't think it would run if belt broke ..
The issue will be handling now at full 🐴 pony's because you are getting boast virtually all the time. You will need to watch the temp and knock. Also just curious how bad fuel economy is or will be running this rig with the TC
Would it have been better to weld the pipe to the flanges before cutting the patterns out? Wouldn't the bigger metal mass reduce warpage?
The pipe would get in the way of cutting, but maybe it would stop the warping.
Nice! Personally I would've gone with a turbo kit since those engines are little rev monsters but I can see that in your case you mainly would want the lower rpm "ummph" for off roading and accelerating.
And carb drawn turbos can be dangerous...high boost with atomized fuel on popoff
@@MotoCheez I was thinking a blow through carb. I never knew people would be crazy enough to have a carb drawn turbo setup.
Have to find a carb that is made for blown through. Nothing available that I could find
If you need to lower boost change pully size .
Yes, I'm under driven right now
Hello, what is the white gauge in front of the art vents? Is that a RPM GAUGE? THANKS
It's my temporary boost gauge
That truck sounds mean now!
You should hear it now that I have a good belt on there and the AFR gauge went to give it full throttle, about three quarter throttle hit nine pounds of boost and it was too lean so I had to let off but yeah sounds really mean, I'm a little nervous it's a bit more boost and I really wanted
@@MotoCheez I just watched the current video, I think you are absolutely correct in being slow and cautious, I’ve dabbled in turbo Tacoma engines and things can go wrong very fast.
Yep. I've heard stories... I'll be extra cautious!!
Cheezee mini can’t it anymore she’s going too break up,get ready to be beamed up. And that sets right under you’re seat any thoughts on a piece of plate steel under your seat in case of failure?
Its low boost, shouldn't be an issue... I hope
Why did you decide on the truck you purchased and if you had to do it again what would you do DIFFERENTLY?
I chose the hijet because it built tougher for off-road and hauling, locker rear a must. If I had to do it over, I'd get a supercharged or turbo model and factory dump.
Once she's all tuned up is she now going to be known as Super Mini? Maybe get her a nice performance exhaust so she'll have herself a singing voice? :)
Haha. Yeah have to come up with something
How did you plugs look after the big test ride, Cheez?
They looked good! AFR gauge will be the best judge
I've had two carbed Hijets and have a 1999 Climber coming in August. With fuel injection, adding this blower should be pretty easy.
Yes! If you can't get the AFR right just put bigger injectors
FIRST! WOOHOO...go mini go
3rd!
@@MotoCheez What? darn showed 1st for me......and if you're not 1st your last....HAHA
Haha. My app organized as they come in. It's fractions of a second at times
And what carburetter did you get to put on there and where from
Links in description and MotoCheez.com
What supercharger did you put on there and where did you get it
AMR300 links in description
Soooooo....Mini is going to "HULK SMASH!" mode? 👀
Seriously tho, monitoring the (engine) oil temp, and pressure, now becomes _real_ important. BTW, are there any sensor ports on that supercharger?
No sensors..
i heard your in the leesburg area im moving that way in a couple months. we should go hit some trails
FL or CT?
@@MotoCheez florida
Sounds good!!
How often do you oil that airfilter on mini?
Also have you had any dirt or water issues offroading with that airfilter located the way it is?
I do the oil every 1000 miles. The air filter is cleanable.
So evidently it's not a blow threw carb, looked like a lot of work for a draw threw
Couldn't find a blow through carb this small or I would have definitely gone that route.
Is the guy you bought your mini truck from have any for the price you payed for yours
No, those prices are long gone, they're like $7000 now... Crazy!
Guess I'll have to save up a little bit more I'm probably going to the same guy though a little bit of a drive but should be worth it
You might need to get a blow off valve because you have it all hard lined just a suggestion
I don't think you need one on this, it's 6psi max internally set. I'll have to see if there's one on the Subaru minis. It's same SC
Great job. My days of supercharging things are behind me. Too many blown engines in my Stang left a bad taste in my mouth. Mini seems to run good, just keep the boost low (it is a tiny engine). And definitely better to run rich than lean (in all my bad experiences). And since this is a completely manual system and I highly doubt this engine has any knock sensors or electronics to account for a lean condition and to compensate for it. Hate to see you toast your engine just to gain a few HP. Or just take your new vette engine and figure out a way to drop it in there!!!!!!
Def want to run it on the rich side!
Because i cant see easy , you have the supercharger between engine and carb or carb and air filter? If you want power you have to use it between carb and air filter. Also did you use fuel regulator? It must be there to work properly and also needs intercooler to store the extra pressure before the intake valves.
I did a draw through carburetor so I didn't have to worry about pressurizing the carburetor and having to do all the fuel regulators and blocking off ports
@@MotoCheez yes but with this way loosing your time as getting less power (nothing).
Incorrect, I gained a huge amount. About 40%. The only downside to draw through is I can't add an intercooler. It's the easiest way with a carb.
Drawthru systems have been used for years in factory cars too
@@MotoCheez I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just telling you what's best for it to work properly
Hiya
1st!
Pass it to David V. or whoever is next.😃
Can you put this on a EFI carburetor
Yes. But you'd have to change the tune to adjust for the boost
Thanks I love watching you
Thanks!
How does Mini feel about it?
She's excited, but nervous...
what about the habedashery valve what about that?
It's working fine!
@@MotoCheez I had a salesperson that would focus on the haberdashery valve and our cars were the only ones that had one. So I fired him and he stole a car and left.
@@MotoCheez BOOM!
What Carburetor are you running?
It's a larger eBay carb, link in description
Thanks! @@MotoCheez I just got a Mitsubishi Mini cab and looks like the carb is sized up. I'm looking for something like that that's much simpler than the crazy vacuum hose routing of the stock carb.
@tonybain6376 Yeah this is definitely a good option for something close to what stock. I know people have used motorcycle, like Harley carburetors also
I've read about harly carbs, but those seem overkill. Made for a engine that are more displacement and power.
youre running that drill press way too fast for hole saws slower the better. if its smoking its too fast
I think I was down to 200rpm... They were crappy hole saws anyway 😁
Small hole, thats why they request the proper Lube, thats what she said.
😆🧀
The mighty mini, tonka won't be able to keep up now... what was the top speed she got to moto... couldn't see the speedo..
I brought it up to 60mph but I'm not pushing it until I get my gauges and it's tuned
@@MotoCheez 60s good, i remember when you got mini, she could barely do 50. She has grown so much
It'll do more I just don't want to push it
@@MotoCheez i totally understand moto... don't want to blow mini's mind or engine
I know! Me either
