- Mini finally getting her custom dump bed conversion! Electric over hydraulic with mostly used parts Jeffro gave me and scrap metals, the redneck way! I did get some cutoffs at Dutchess metal and some hardware from Davies Hardware. Twerk it mini!
the hydraulic cylinder is 1 3/4" rod, 44" 1" bolt hole to bolt hole extended, 26" hole to hole collapsed. Cylinder is 24"x 3 1/4

Hijet Climber Mini-truck, this one is a 1992, 7th Gen, S83P, 660cc Minitruck. The “climber” means it has rear axle lock.
Researching online I did find l lot of new information, but Amir explains a LOT more than I knew, he has been in the business for 15 years. Plus if Bubbles in Trailer Park Boys has one, it HAS to be cool!
Don't forget you're buying a used vehicle, check it all out, they're over 25 years old! Some are in much better shape than others. Check for leaks, CV boots ripped, Loose suspension, Clutch slippage, clunks etc. Just like any used vehicle
S83p specs:
660cc 6 vavle 3 cyl engine 48-53hp carburated
weight: 1500 lbs
length 10'8" (128"). width 4'6" (54") w/o mirrors. Height 5'10" (70")
Load capacity 800 lbs
Max Speed 55-60mph
Valve lash cold: intake 0.18mm exhaust 0.25mm
I know there may be other videos of this.. but this is my Cheezy style!
Due to changing products, links, etc, If you want the most recent product links (if these are no good), go to www.motocheez.com and click the section you're looking for (upper right) and scroll down the page for the item.
This keeps the links for all the parts more accurate. These I use and install on ALL my videos. I do not sell any of the items listed. (except T-shirts and key tags.. HURRY UP AND BUY!)

Combine Dumpy and Mini.
What’s up Mini dumpy
Dumpy would have been so in love.
He's gonna be jealous for sure!
Minis a dumper. Awesome work.
Thanks
Nice job on fabrication
Thanks!😁😁
Great video man you crack me up thanks for keeping it real.
Another great video cheez!
Wow! That turned out nice.
Thanks!
Awesome video!!
Thanks!!
Mini is being modified. Meep meep. She is gonna go to work. No more sitting around.
Hell yeah!
Nice welds bud. Seriously not terrible. I'll be converting my 88 Suzuki Carry DB71T to dump this summer. And next winter I'm plopping in an Arctic Cat T660 engine in. It's actually the newest version of the Suzuki F6A.😁 120hp out of the gate. Bolts right in.
Thanks! Sweet, So that engine will bolt right up?
@@MotoCheez shhh. It's only you me and one sledhead who knows.😁😜
@@MotoCheez enjoy that rabbit hole. Some sledheads are pushing this engine to 180hp reliably.😁😁😁😁🙊🙊🙊
@@brandonboulton2776 wow! I was thinking about a rotary because these need the RPMs or you'll have to regear
Just subbed to you
Love the mini truck, project is coming along nicely. Also love your friends Autocar. Very nice rig.
This is sick man im definitely doing this to mine ! Thank for the awesome video 👍
👍WUMT, I love your new box Mini
A job DONE RIGHT!!! Well done.

Wow good job 👍🏼
TY
wow, unbelievable what you can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very impressive fab skills. great job!
Thanks!
Mini is going to need some bed lights now...better throw one under the deck to light her engine. She looks great!
Thanks!
Ahhhhhh My Mini time my day is complete
Good job, mini looks proud ! :)
🤣😂👍👍
Yeah way better 🙏👍💪✌️👌awesome that you know how to weld so well!
Thanks😁
Awsome vide!
Nice job,, now you can use her to go get the cutting torch filled,, Thxs for posting,, gb
Yes! On my way today!
A very nice conversion/mod. You got me on the last sentence. Here I was about to make a trip from Florida to your place. Now, like you said "I'm not gonna do it" ha ha
Hahhahahah
2020 is your year Mr. Cheese!! Your going to blow up mark my words!! Great, information, funny, and entertaining as always.
😁💯🔥 that'd be awesome. Love making the videos
Indeed very informative
Seriously I watch to learn gotta couple vids saved to look back on when I get my very own mini and 2 wheels. But then I’m laughing and getting everything you throw, guess cuz I’m an late 80’s 90’s kid, thanks 🙏 for the reply!
Nice job!
Thanks!
Your Welcome!!
That auto car is sick. A construction legend👍
It sure is!
Keep up the great work. Awesome content. Cheers.
Thank you
Pretty dam good job. Would love to get one of those mini trucks. The $49 paint job commercial cracked me up.
Turning into one of the sickest minitrucks on the road! I'm definitely going to do a dump conversion on mine now!
Thanks! Totally worth it for sure
Heck yeah buddy, keep up the good vids!
Dam your good! Love the knowledge a little american can do. Nice 🇺🇸👍👍
Thanks!!👍
Brilliant!!!
Thanks! Jeffro had the original idea
Those two welds were the best you’ve done.
Good mod. Certainly, you've raised your stats on, when you have to clean her up.
In my best Borat impression. A very nice
😁👍👍👍🤜🤛
Yeah paint and rust converter where needed??!!!! Thanks 🙏 Mike
Very Cool....
Thanks captain!
Woohoo, Mini is now "Mini Dumpy" or as our oldest daughter said " Mini took a dump", lol. Great job, brother and thanks for sharing.
😁 that put a smile on minis face
MotoCheez 👍🏽👊🏽
Love your videos dude! Going to visit amir tomorrow morning. Ill have to start videoing my stuff. When i get a mini
Sweet! Thanks
I saw for the first time someone who converted a truck into a dump by myself. As expected, it's DIY country, America! From Japan 日本
😁👍👍
Sex change? Nah, weld on accessory. Thanks for covering her box, too. And, in all seriousness, that looks really well done!
Haha. Yes!
Looking real good, Don't forget to make a safety kickstand for when you are working under there.
Def will. Have a dowel for now
I'm totally enjoying your vids. High five!
Thanks!😁
Hell yeah bro cheese man😬💥👍🏼
Nice job moto! I always wondered what would the steps be on changing one of these to a dump bed.
1st....but Dumpy will live in our hearts, forever.....
3rd!
凄いです😳
どんどん改造してますね😃
Very creative outstanding job i bet u it was tedious .🎸on man
Ty!
@@MotoCheez thanks for that my friend
With plasma, one trick for cutting above your weight class, is to angle the cutter head along the path then scoop it up, backwards. Kinda hard to describe, but the idea is to "shovel" out the metal, it's slow as frigg and you'll never get a nice edge, but i've managed to cut quite a biggun piece with that trick.
I'll give it a try next time. Thanks for the tip!👍
Muy buen proyecto
Thanks!
It takes a special kinda crazy to sell Dumpy and then convert Mini to a dumper. :-)
2:00 - How are you able to freehand cut a line that straight with a reciprocating saw? R U a robot?!?
3:30 - I love how you take a look at the job to get a general idea, then design the specifics at your local metal store to use their $1 per pound scrap metal drops.
16:20 - Awesome job retaining the drop sides on the dump bed. With all of the LED lighting, winch, etc., you have one of the most tricked out and functional kei trucks in the world.
I got a good price for dumpy, I used mostly scraps from jeffro and bought the larger steel for the ram from the cutoff bin, was cheap. The reciprocating saw cuts a pretty straight line, been doing it for years
Thanks, I love fabricating
google map it and found just near the overlook drive in , between 44 and 55 .. spent many a weekend night with the wife and kids in the 1970's there .. packed in a 1965 ford eco line van .. that's all we could afford for fun .. bring food and drink , lawn chairs .. bed in van when kids would fall out ..was the summer best , park in the back , with the other crazys .. bug coil going , something to toke , crap drive in speakers hung on the glass ..good times .. funny I would paint with a brush all my old trucks on the out side with a brush with DERUSTO PAINT HIGH GLOSS ... con all the kids in neighborhood to come and paint , pkg of the cheapest brushes I could find .
Haha. Nice! I've been to overlook drive-in dozens of times! I used to go at least once a year
Nice job man. I did the exact same thing on my truck last summer. I did not have to cut the rear lip part where the light mounts. With the lights removed there was enough clearance to allow the bed to pivot. I plan to use thinner LED lights. I also installed the dump cylinder facing the other way, it pushes toward the cab. If you build a head ache rack, I suggest you install it on the dump bed itself. If you want to dump a load of branches or other crap, it wont fall between the bed and the truck when you dump. Keep it up , your video are always entertaining!!!!
Thanks! My hitch got in the way of the tail lights. Was going to mount the cylinder like yours (stock) but couldn't find the right pivot point. I'm leaving the rack on the cab because I'm mounting a winch to it so I can tilt the bed a bit and pull tractors, quads, logs etc on the bed. The rack does not have enough strength on the bed for a winch.
Send me some photos of your rig thru instagram
@@MotoCheez Allright opened an instagram account just for you. Added a few pictures and a video of the bed in action. Account name is saitch0
@@nickt9968 you sent them to motocheez? I don't see them
@@MotoCheez I posted them on my account. I will educate myself more about Instagram tonite and will post a picture on your page.
Nice👍
Ty
Thank you for the info....thinking of doing this to my Sambar. Btw that’s not Minis horn....sounds like it Herbie the love bugs.
It is minis horn! 100% I recorded it off videos
SCISS-OR-LIFT! SCISS-OR-LIFT!
I'd love to... A bit more complex
Mini’s like Marilyn on the sidewalk vent! 👀🥰😛😍
Haha
Hello moto... looks like nothing's too good for mini... when you raise her bed up you can call it "doing the marilyn monroe" ... lol.. she's looking good moto... but you need to eat more beans, since you keep running out of gas.. budumpbump😁🥳🥳🤣🤪
Hey moto, what about putting conveyor belt down on the rails to help keep mini from rattling.
I may end up doing that. Have some Jeffro gave me when we went in the mine
18:00 dude, you made a clean spot... you know what that means...
Yep!
Is there anything you can't make? That's some home engineering
TY😁
Think i found the video. Musta been when i was away at work and didnt see this..
Forget paint where you can’t really see I think rust converter would be best in our area
I've used oil based Rust-Oleum for years, it really permiates the rust and holds it back decent
I wanna do this with mine need to make it dump
Don’t you want to brush or spray on some rust converter on frame since you have the bed off?? Thanks 🙏
It's a dump, I can get to it good. I prefer the oil based paints. Hold rust back excellent. Rust converter is good on rust spots only I've found
From up here in Maine, liking the Dysart's sweat shirt bub! Mini like Moxie or Lobsta??
Lobsta!
Now make up a pink G-string for her.
have you thought of an On board air system for air tools and of course train horns lol
Yes, I already have the air pump and an old military box I have to cut down to fit as a tool box 😁. Need a ship horn. Haha
Do you have a gap across the back now (where you cut across)? If so, a nice place for an LED light bar and some additional tail/brake/turn lights too. No shortage of good ground there now. LOL On the cut line, might be able to use some of that door edge guard trim stock, give it a smooth/rounded edge?
Is there room for one more cross brace on the lift rails, at the front of the bed... for a bit more rigidity to keep it from swaying laterally while a dumped load may shift?
A guy could get a little crazy with a roller and a gallon (or three) or that Harbor Freight rubberized bed coating after a good pressure washing/degreasing (top/bottom).
Lookin' good !
I was messing with a rubber strip where the Gap is, when it's lifted it closes off pretty tight, like 1/4".
The cross brace can only be flat so I'm not sure it would rigid it any more than the bolts... Maybe.
I have to look up the harbor freight stuff. Any good?
@@MotoCheez It's like any other painting, it's all in the cleaning/degreasing/prepping (adhesion). It's like Rhino Lining. About an 1/8" thick when done. Better than undercoating it.
@@RatdogDRB screw undercoating! I usually do the oil base paint because it's easy to touch up. I'll look into the HF stuff, it's 2 part ?
@@MotoCheez I think it is.
Way to hit the tailight!
Yeah... Damn
@@MotoCheez It's just a good excuse to give mini some custom LED tail lights! Give her booty some sparkle!
What is the little torch you are using to cut the thinner steel?
Plasma cutter. Thermodynamics
Moto, what brand and model video sunglasses do u use? The link doesn't work. They work great in all kinds of lighting and im interested in a pair. (Thats what she said lol)
😁🤣. Zetronix ultra wide
LOVING IT !!!!!!!!!! Look at my thumbnail
Awesome!
@@MotoCheez thanks 😁
Good enough for the girls I date😎
Did you add a prop bar for safety? Love the video
Not yet, I have a dowel for now
I love the office memes
Best show EVARRR
Yeah that's what she said
Where can you get parts for the mini truck? Like axle, suspension, rack’n’pin
Some places in us carry parts. Can also order direct from Japan
I have watched most or all of your mini truck videos thanks for the info
I have a question can you give me the length of your hydraulic ram you used for your dump bed . Also what is the diameter of it
44" hole to hole open, 26" closed. Ram is 1 1/2" I believe
I can tell mini likes her diamonds even if it’s plate
Mini needs a motorcycle aftermarket exhaust. Bring the brappps!
I'm thinking about it. Might to an exhaust bypass valve, I do like it quiet in the woods, but pull the lever and BRAPP
MotoCheez could get an electronic dump valve to easily switch to open exhaust. A Yoshi muffler would be epic! Give Mini that extra sauce since she has that ram in her lol
@@Chris05STi1982 exactly!!!😁
Hi Motor Cheese, is your truck a button press 4x4 or is it a Leaver with hi & low gears, to get 4x4.
Button 4x4, lever for high neutral and low 4x4
Solid work brother! Appreciate the inspiration. Did you go to school for welding? You mentioned self taught? Welds are solid! How many hours did this take you?
Self taught welder. Started with stick welder then mig. I have a lot of hours welding. A lot of large projects! Thanks
I’D PAY A DOLLAR FOR THAT
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I DIED
😂🤣
No i buy that for a dollar from Robocop
How long of a stroke cylinder did you use?
All dimensions in description.
👍
First!!
Well done, whats the price of a OEM dump bed mini truck over a non-dump bed. Saved some money on this project.
About $2000, but they're usually beat up and used hard, in mint condition like mini you're talking $2500 more and up
paint job next please
😁😁👍
One thing I have said many times, It don't look to bad if you don't look to close ; )
Sir, I saw the front bumper on the yellow “Tonka” mini (Suzuki??) in your driveway, do you know if the owner made or bought it? Thank you!
Jeffro made the bumper
Sweet project man! I have a big boi Mitsubishi Fuso cab over on my channel but I can't wait to get a mini. Much easier to use on my little farm here... I think your dump is coming out mint. Any idea on how much weight you've added so far?
Thanks. Probably 200lbs
@@MotoCheez That ain't too bad. You neck of the woods looks like my buddies Andrew Camarata, do you watch his vids too?
@@BarnStangz no, haven't seen his.. I don't watch too many other UA-camrs when I'm busy w mini 😁
@@MotoCheez I can understand man! Making videos is really time consuming! Wish I had more time and content. Maybe we I get my mini truck! LOL!
So is there a plan now to replace the tail lights? When I saw ya do that I went ouch.....
Have to find lenses. I left them lower for now. Bed would not dump because of rear hitch so had to do that.
10:00 tractor supply and taco bell.
I am gonna try an air piston but there will never be a load in the bed of my S10
Air pistons tend to be very springy but if you have no load in your bed I guess it would be fine
@@MotoCheez i just got it in 8 inch throw 6 inch diameter case. Something new to me but i am going to try.
Why did you eat rid of Dumpy?
Because mini is in much better shape, and now I have her a dumper
When you test out harley's new springs, will you be sending them back once the test is done? I'd be willing to pay you for one of the two pairs if harley gave em to you.
He says I can keep them. I do have an extra set of blue springs. My strut spring length is 2" longer than normal which is why I was bottoming out with 10" springs instead of 12"
@@MotoCheez I'm pretty sure I remember from your earlier videos the blue ones were 10in 250lb? I just went out and put a tape measure on mine and the spring is only 7in??! WTF, no wonder I was bottoming out. Did yours have a 7" spring on it? Does the stock strut have three inches of play to add a 10" spring?
@@danielmerkley4543 that was your measurement jacked up? I think I was 1" too high. Been a while. I think it was 9 and 7". I'll have to find the old video. The spring is longer if course. I didn't even need a spring compressor to put them on
@@MotoCheez Good point, it was 7" under pressure. I'm sure jacking it up will add the extra couple inches I'm missing ;). I think I'd prefer the progressives from harley, but how much do you want for the blue springs? I believe Harley is asking $200 for the new progressives springs or $350 for the springs and a modified rear air lift. Shipping to AZ 85140.
You should rename mini to mini dumpey now
Might have to!😁
Hey you being the motorcycle guru along with all the other talents has any one ever asked you about the carburetor on 94 hijet that has a slide instead of butterfly model 87B74
It's a butterfly! A CV carb?
@@MotoCheez yes
I haven't dove into the carb on this but I thought it was just butterfly carb...
@@MotoCheez sorry didn't get back I've only pull top off found a diaphragm and a slide or piston hope to pull carb this weekend checked the web on this and everybody is out of rebuild or used ones that's why I was wondering if anybody else has asked about them
@@jamesthornton4164 no. Never had mine off. I know my Suzuki had a CV carb, my hijet doesn't look like a CV carb.
#WUMT
Soak that rubber stuff in 606
That'll soften it?
@@MotoCheez should works great
Your welds look like shieet
Except that one weld..you know which one I'm talking about. Do it like that. Nice
😁
