I’ve bought fragrances just to rewatch your reviews while smelling for myself. Your words and hands paint a freaking portrait. It’s a gift!
Pathetic
Thank you for this review Aaron!
He is the only reviewer I make time to watch his reviews it calms me 🫶🏽
💯 percent 👍👍👍
You need get a life of then don’t you know
@@UmiDaaa 💯
Same here 🔥🔥
I appreciate your insights Aaron. I would love to see reviews on your favorite fragrances from growing up
Thank you for this great review brother
Very interesting reflections, Aaron. Congratulations and thanks. Regards from Salamanca, SPAIN.
Best reviewer in the game and I think it’s due to not only your Dior but your immense knowledge of perfumery
Great review! It has been reformulated for sure. Now it is more lavender than cinnamon, at least on my skin. Does not last as long as it used to. The color of the juice is different, as well.
this is what I was waiting for
This is my one and only Frederic Malle fragrance. It's exceptional.
I’m a woman and I wear this shamelessly. It’s intoxicating, stimulating.. 🙊 Maybe more appropriate for the bedroom. No other fragrance evokes in me the same feeling I get as when I smell this.
Same here and I´m a Man :-)
One thing I can tell from experience, little 1-1.5 ml samples do not give you the full feel of a fragrance, just a general idea of how it's going to smell, I've tried full bottles of fragrances and found out that they definitely perform or smell very differently from samples, the full spray and covering a larger area of the skin definitely makes a difference.
True! You’d think more juice would make it smell proportionally “louder” but it doesn’t always work that way 😁
Selling your company to Estée Lauder & having them reformulate your products has a much bigger impact on the fragrance than the size of a sample !
@@nathanthomas5133 I had no idea the house was sold.
@@kez850 me neither.
@@kez850 they sold out to Estée Lauder in 2015 & Estée Lauder then started reformulating the range over the following few years (same with By Kilian which Estée Lauder also bought a few years ago) . They start tweaking their fragrances and brands & drop new fragrances into whichever house best suits them (boozy fragrances into Kilian, more classic fragrances into Malle, sexier/trendier fragrances into Tom Ford etc)
I can’t find your first review of Musc ravegeur but I remember being fascinated by how you describe it. I absolutely love Musc ravegeur but I
wish there was better projection. I couldn’t agree with you more’
Undoubtedly a FANTASTIC fragrance
I'm hooked on this one. I didn't like it at first. My bottle seems to be strong and lasting.
Looking forward to trying one or yours. Still undecided what to buy though.
Good to know your indepth opinion!!!
I have an older bottle of Musc Ravageur and it is a beast of a fragrance.
As if you've read my mind.. I've been thinking of this perfume so I can give Portrait of a Lady a break but I haven't smelt it yet, glad to know your view, thanks
Intoxicating, sexy, and completely unisex. You can’t go wrong with this one.
yep! it's reformulated so I heard! but still one of my favorite 😍
I remember when I first got into the fragrance world about 15 years ago, this was one of the most hyped fragrances out there. Seems like that's a by gone era now as most folks don't talk about. At the time, I thought it smelled horrible, but I'd like to try it again.
I agree that the opening is bad but it does a complete 180 in the dry down and smells delicious.
As they have weakened it considerably you would probably enjoy it more now
@@kez850 try Meharées by L'Erbolario. It’s MR without the opening. It’s really very nice
I watch an Aaron review and I just know I don't need to see any others 😎
Over twenty years it seems most fragrances unfortunately change. It is said that its due to not being able to source the same exact ingredient. That does make sense. Another reason prominently heard is that they are using an ingredient that is more safe. Im sure a reason that they dont say is that it is cheaper. However, I am not behind the scenes. These are just reasons I have heard from companies.
Thank you Aaron.
Frederic Malle was sold to Estée Lauder in 2015 - I’m 100% sure they have reformulated as my old bottle is way stronger than the current version.
The same thing is happening to Tom Ford under Estee Lauder.
@@SWTmel Estée Lauder has always owned Tom Ford Beauty since it started in 2007 - he just licences them his name & ‘advises’ on the products. They have reformulated constantly over the last 15 years - your comment implies that this is a new thing..
I recently bought a new bottle from Harrods & it was just as strong as ever before. Where did you get your new one?
@@MuddyGreenMonster Harrods. But i also have a pre-2015 bottle & side by side the current is much weaker. Music Ravageur originally launched 22 years ago in 2000, so had probably already been reformulated even before its Estée Lauder reformulation.
@@nathanthomas5133 Nonsense. My 2004 bottle smells & performs just as well as my new 2022 bottle. Stop spreading false rumours.
I think it’s very wearable and I love it. I hated it first time I tried it, but even with the formulation I really love. It still lasts all day and projects crazy on my skin.
Thank you for your review. Always fantastic!
I got this in last month.. And its strong, i smell it on the skin the day after. i thought it was gone and i went for a trail run in the morning. And all i could smell was this. 14 hours later. i think i get anosmic to it sometimes.
Same here. When I apply it in the morning after taking a shower I still smell it on me the next morning when I'm going into the shower again. One of the most long lasting fragrances I've ever tested and that is the current version.
Just found your channel and love the content. I'm an org chem major and casual fragrance lover. As I hear you talk about all these aroma chemicals (their scent, bioactivity, and structure), it really got me interested in learning more. If you don't mind, would there be some sort of online materials or texts that I can read about these chemicals?
you can find the names of some of the aroma chemicals on the back of fragrance bottles, then google the names to research - that's what I've done.
It is reformulated.. Old batch was stronger, like massive push out.. New scent is weaker and doesnt project that much.. But i dont regreet buying new one, it smell gorgeous😊
Is just a piece of art this perfume
Musc Ravanger disappeared for a while this year but I noticed it widely available again.
It still smells strong to me. I love this one and French Lover.
I just got this sample in today along with French Lover, The Promise, Portrait of a Lady and Vetiver Extraordinaire.
So far, i like Musc Ravageur. Smells similar to a Honey liquor laced Graham cracker. Its almost gourmand
Sprayed this on my wrist 6 hours ago, still smells strong on me.
They changed the formula and removed the skankier notes that gave it a stronger smell.
Definitely reformulated after these years. But this is phenomenal amber fougère/ oriental perfumery. Musc Ravageur is my life must have.
This is a fantastic scent that artists will adore
If you’re ever looking for something cheaper, more spring/summer appropriate you can get meharees from the herbarium (Florida, USA) $50 a bottle. I prefer this to Musc ravageur
"Every day. In my factory" Yes!!
I wish I knew what the soft, fuzzy animalic notes were in the original version. I love the original version so much. It has the perfect amount of comforting animalic notes that are like warm fur. I am always looking for a warmer weather-feeling musk with comparable soft animal notes but have never found one.
Have you ever tried Rosendo Mateu Nr. 5? Its a scent in a similar realm of fragrance and also has subtle but noticable animalic musk note with spices, floral and ambery notes :-) Its one of my favourite musc scents
@@arkygato thank you. I haven't tried it but I will now.
Mine smells like cat. I wish I knew too
The animal fuzz musks could be from shangralide with a dash of civet mixing with the rest of the composition
Any name that is not in bog normal English Aaron will without fail ravage! I love it! xo
One of my all time faves. I just bought a new bottle from Harrods & still find it has the same powerful performance. Maybe it's because you're using a sample with a dinky sprayer.
Estée Lauder reformulated this shortly after they purchased Frederic Malle in 2015. Unless you have a bottle that is over 7 years old then anything made after 2015 will smell like the version selling now.
@@nathanthomas5133 I just finished a bottle which I bought in 2004 & bought a new one from Harrods just 2 weeks ago & they smell & perform exactly the same.
@@MuddyGreenMonster My nose & Aaron’s say different !
@@nathanthomas5133 Aaron just used a little 1ml sample with a tiny spray & you are just copying what you've heard some youtube influencer say. If not I must be very lucky to have recently bought 3 FM bottles with extra strength than yours.
I hate samples & atomizer/travel sprayers. The nozzles don’t ever put out enough juice or they spray it out in mist
I wish I never ordered a sample of this, it just keeps getting better and better now I want a bottle. I’ve notice that with portrait of a lady too, certain Malle creations really depend on skin chemistry, bc some are a train wreck, like uncut gem
Hi aaron can u do a review of Rosendo Mateu’s No 5 and PDM’s Kalan? Thanks!
I’ve been interested in this scent for a long time but the price keeps putting me off. I’m considering a similar scent that’s much cheaper.
My MR from 2022 smelled the whole day Today at 16 degrees C. Applied at 9am and smelled at 10pm after Gym at my back of my Hand! Totally ok after all law and legal needed reformulations
Definitely been reformulated, I had purchased this in 2007 and it’s vastly different than the recent bottle I’ve purchased. I loved the original I’m sad it’s changed but I do still adore this scent in general
hey aaron have u tried polvolite musk? i heard its incredible. yea making a musk base is important. i heard russians love musky perfumes. :) happy perfuming. i like better sylvamber than iso e. its more ambery
@Ahmed Nits polvolide not polvolite, i misspelled. :)
“I’m not reading this!”
Thank you, man.
I LOVE IT!!!
Can you please review synthetic jungle Frederic Malle.
Hi Aaron. I've been watching your reviews for a while now (really appreciate your expertise). I was wondering if I could get your advice, please? I'm looking for a manly EDP/EDT under £50. I don't particularly like fresh scents, but I do like exotic, musky ones. Thanks in advance!
Initio rehab
That's 200 plus.@@evanyevilov6529
It's 100% been reformed - this used to be, as you described, one of the most powerful scents I have ever experienced, full stop. It's pretty average now.
Yes 100%. I have a new full bottle and it smells nothing like before. To me it smelled like dirty sex, really naughty… now I get mainly cinnamon, no animalic notes whatsoever. It’s still beautiful, but rather a well behaved gourmand now . I don’t understand how some say that there is no difference 😅
After one hour, during the "dry-down" phase, this mystery gets its true face, erotic, "dirty", with style and taste, making you unconsciously smell the application site on your hand every 30 seconds, in disbelief that it is the same essence that you wanted to give up until a little while ago. All the ingredients are combined into one and yet each one is felt separately. Cinnamon, lavender, musk, bergamot, vanilla, amber, sandal... all come together in the perfection that Maurice Roucel has masterfully created over the years for mature, independent men with attitude and hedonism. He created something that makes niche creations a step (or a whole floor) higher than the commercial and everyday.
Hola, cuando vas a poder hacer envíos a españa?? Un saludo cordial
I've used Penhaligons since 1997. It's the best.
Dear Aaron, Its true .. all the FM series has been watered down after the estee lauder took over them .. its sad
Aaron try oud stars luxor from xerjoff and do a review!!
Can you pllllleeeeease review anything from Orto Parisi?
"I'm not reading this!" Dying! 🖤
Some new perfumes Macerate in couple of months they get stronger
I sold mine, it was wonderful and sexy but the smell made me feel sick after using it for a week
Waxy musk! That's what I was searching for - please try Orto Parisi Bergamask - it's a 12h monstrous citrus that's supposedly inspired by Bergamo and sweaty people (long story short). To me it smells waxy! I'm so curious what you think, Orto Paris is a great house (the same guy as Nasomatto).
It’s a unique fragrance indeed. But too wild for my preference, but I’d love to hear the unicorns review. The longevity is no joke haha
Unfortunately, a lot of things are not performing like they use to.
Thank you for the informative, poetic, and sensual reviews!
Don't worry, this performs just like it always has. It's probably just because he's using a sample with a much smaller sprayer.
If every day you work on more potent perfumes, then relatively speaking the rest will come across as weaker. But over 20 years? Like you say safe, legal, compliant? Regulations change, so I'd be surprised if nothing needed changing.
Love this and Portrait of a Lady and Dans de Bras and Carnal Flower hell who am I kidding I love a lot from this house
The older generation was too strong on Musc and it was smelling like a highway toilette :(. I could not smell that one, nor use it. The current one has been updated so it can be worn and used by more people. This is a "happy" reformulation, if you ask me.
This is def NOT BEAST MODE! It fades fast.
Hi Arron do you have a nice Musc heavy fragrance? But it all day.
Out of the 300+ bottles in my collection, this is my favorite. I have 3 bottles of this beauty.
Top 5 designers in your collection?
Top 10 niche in your collection?
Roughly how much money have you spent to have such a extensive collection? Thanks 🙏🏽
300+ bottles maaaan .. how many are collecting dust lol I had to start getting decants cause I was running out of room while so many collecting dust .. Even buying 5ml - 10ml decants .. I still can't empty them 🙃 expensive hobby for sure
I heard Estee Lauder reformulated Musc R with synthetic notes. I got a full bottle and feel ripped off.
Cool ink! I'm new here.
I haven't tried original bottles but agree - it's a great scent, currently on the weaker side of where it should be.
Would love you to review my personal favorite from the line: Music For A While ... so good!
My new bottle from Harrods is really strong. There's loads of fakes around, so be careful.
I watched incredible reviews about this fragrance, so I got my hands on the current formula. The fragrance is beautiful but really sucks on performance
The current formula lasts for 24+ hours on my skin, so if that is the watered down version I'm glad I didn't get the original :D
So apparently Frederic Malle was bought out or in partnership in some kind of way with Estée Lauder! That may be why it’s powerful and smells different
As I left this comment you mentioned it 😅
It used to be stronger, unfortunately its been through Estee Lauder Slaughter
How can I know if my bottle is what age? I bought this a few years ago but I can’t remember when!
look up the batch code on a batch code checker site.
Performance is beastly for me. So not sure what happened there.
I hated Musc Ravageur when I tried it 1 year ago. I only got cloves.
it was reformulated after Esteé Lauder bought them, but people say it has smalled like a barnyard, horrible fragrance, now it is much more palatable
@Ahmed N source?
Thanks Aaron! I was thinking of getting a sample of this based on the video you did way back. And yes, you did mention it was a strong scent. Based on the price, it should be stronger. I'll skip this one for the time being.
Don't worry, it's still really strong
I tried this on at a Mecca store and was revolted. Tried to wash it off and couldn't. Never smelled a stronger fragrance. Just too much for me.
It's definitely not in your head. They clearly toned down the animalic nuances of it to make it a bit more mass-appealing. I still enjoy it though. Blasphemous as some may find this, I think I enjoy it more now than before but that's just personal preference. It was stronger in previous years for sure.
How are you? 😁
What's up with all the expensive niche-perfum reviews recently? There's till so many left of the affordable designer perfumes you haven't reviewed yet. Love your voice and your videos, you are a quality youtuber.
He has to mix it up. Not everyone is broke.
@@charliesmash wow 😳
@@torsteinv34 wow indeed.
@@charliesmash Indeed
I got a older and newer bottle(2020 limited one)
It has been reformulated 100%.
It is not that powerful anymore and not that animalic skanky
Bois Imperial please
All i can smell is lavender :')
I love this one and its almost the same as chergui from Serge Lutens
This is my one of my all time favourites sex in a bottle
🔥
It went weak for sure. I have a 10ml old sample and a recent bottle is weak.
My new bottle is still as strong as ever
0:27 you cheeky bastard!!!😂😂
Surprise surprise Estée Lauder bought them and it fell off.
Nobody:
ATH: "I'm not reading this!"
😂😂
It's definitely reformulated. Used to be a sexy beast now just meh. Anything Estée Lauder buys turns to rubbish...so sad.
Been reformulated, spice has been reduced.
This is a TRUE Modern MASTERPIECE!
Released back in 2002, ahead of it's time!
FM too expensive, wish they reduced the price down about $50 bucks.
They said it wasn’t “reformulated”, but it has DEFINITELY been brought down in volume. It’s not as strong as it was in 2010/2011. Same with Guerlain Linstan de Guerlain extreme. Same “formula” but really not, synthetics put in and after the IFRA assault nothing from the prior era really made it through with the same strength, even Bleecker St Bond No 9
uncanny valley
I have broad tastes in fragrances, I really wanted to like this but on trying one spray I truly upset everyone in the car on the way home. I had to have three showers to get it off my skin. I can’t understand how anyone could like this. Since Estée Lauder bought this company, they have all been watered down, the same with Le Labo. Ronald Lauder is the Devil.
Haha strong comments. I felt the same way when I first tried it. I could not fathom who could like this. I ended up getting a decant and trying it and it’s won me over to be my go-to when I want something that’s ‘hugable’. IMO, the pre estee lauder formulate was less wearable and too niche / anamalic for me to wear. After reformulation it’s become my go to gourmand.
I also hated Roja enigma with the same passion, but turned around on that one too. There are still plenty of fragrances I cannot stand, so is what it is.
So it was the first version? The second version is not simply watered down it's a lot more wearable. Less dirty, more gourmand. In my opinion one of the few times where the reformulation is better than the original.
@@uleertel all the Frederic Male’s were stronger. My faves are French Lover and En passant. My mother wears Carnal Flower. The watered down French Lover Broke my Heart. I’ve tried both MRs, the new one has definitely been watered down. I’ve tried the first one on my own and wasn’t impressed, I really wanted to like it because it’s one of the few sold in my country for the travel case. So I tried the reformulated version, I’m sorry but I don’t know how anyone could like this. It smelt like bad BO. The new one is watered down and worst. The original wasn’t repelling. That being said I tried the original in a cold climate, the new one in a warm climate.
@@kayleecutter8020 Interesting, in any case it seems this one is definitively not for you. But I'm wondering if there are more than two formulations. My bottle is juste after the first reformulation so it's a few years old and it's really strong. Maybe it has changed since then. Regarding the challenging side of this fragrance, I would say I smelled a lot more challenging, on this one I smell a strong musk but more on the clean side.
👍👍👍👍💯💯💯
Estee Lauder kills perfume
