Mr. P. Explores...The Abandoned Amherst Quarry Ruins (Amherst, Ohio)

- In Lorain County, Ohio, in the city of South Amherst, lie some of the biggest and most beautiful quarries in the state. Now defunct, the quarries once produced vast quantities of sandstone for buildings all across the nation, starting in the mid-1800's and operating all the way until 1992. Throughout the property lie the remnants of the once industrious and immense operation, including the old workhouse, a crumbling electrical building, stacks upon stacks of discarded stone product, the concrete shell of an old conveyor and a towering conveyor that led to a crusher. Enjoy this walk through what was once one of Northeast Ohio's largest industries, the Amherst Quarries!

This looks like a place I would love too check out. Excellent video Mr P.
Thanks, man! Not a huge spot, but definitely worth taking a look at!
Another excellent video, Mr. P! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Partied in these a lot growing up and lots of riding
Very cool place, loving the outdoor views as well. Nice adventure.
Thanks man! It rained so hard in the middle of that trip. Had to camp out in there for an hour or so!
Great adventure as always!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
I've always wanted to explore the quarries!
Rumor has it there are old cement mixers back there somewhere!
Good video 👍
Thank you, sir!
God I miss this place. I grew up on Quarry Rd. I would love to be able to hear my Dads dump truck horn blaring again and run down to the pump to meet him.
I grew up a mile down the road but never braved the remains. Great video! What are the songs playing?
Thanks! Its a very cool and mysterious place, for sure. I wish I could recall the song, but I forgot to write it down!
I wonder what ever happened to building a world class golf and vacationing spot on the property? I know that was around the 2008 recession, they were driving up the value of the property's around there. I lived down the street in the trailer park back then. Always wanted to explore, but never did.
Man you didn't even show any of the holes you can walk 1000 feet down and around into a quarry back there with abandond equipment still there and somehow it doesn't fill up with water yet
Wonder if they will start that housing development there
Hate that we can abandon shit as humans and they wonder why our world looks like crap
There are lots of things us humans do that are just wrong. But I still find the world to be a beautiful place, and most humans too :)
