Hey playdohbear. Thanks for the info for seals. I found a good way to take out that damn frenzy tower. There's an airlift on the far side by the cliffs/left if your riding south towards the tower. When you get close (out of line of sight) the frenzy build-up stops and you can climb the tower to take out the guys causing the frenzy. I don't think they respawn either. Watch out for the rats at the bottom of the tower though.
The hidden beauty of the Flame of Frenzy Seal is that is weighs nothing and has no stat requirement, making it perfect for buffs on a non Faith/ Arcane build. That 1.5 pounds can be the difference between Med. Load and fat-rolling.
A pro tip for the dragon communion scale: if you put 25 into Fth instead of 23 you can then use Golden Vow. Which gives you a damage and defense buff that lasts 80 seconds. But more importantly it's ALSO buffs your incantation damage as well. It's well worth the extra two points. Dump the rest in arcane 👍
Also once you hit ~60 in arcane its worth getting your faith up to 30 as you will get more scaling on the dragon communion seal anyways with these levels in faith.
@@sqire1234567 I would definitely do that if I was going more towards a pure caster build but I need those extra 5 points to bring up the base damage or my dex weapons. The incants hit hard enough For me at 25/60. Hell even at 25/40 they're pretty nasty. Charged lighting spears are dealing around 1000 DMG at that level. And that's only with a +7 seal.
@@sqire1234567 Keep in mind that if you're using dragon comm, putting more points into faith will also increase your scaling which in turn increases damage. So yes, if you have the room to spare, put some more faith in. You'll benefit from slightly higher damage and able to use other incantations.
I would have guessed Faith would have had Holy and Lightning damage, but they have Holy and Flame instead. Flame is pretty awesome, and Holy still damages undead pretty heavily (handy for all the catacombs there are in this game), but I have to say I wasn't keen on lightning damage migrating to DEX builds along with the half a dozen extra DEX buffs like casting time, less fall damage, harder to know off horse, ect. for no apparent reason while Faith gets no extra bonuses as far as I know. I think even INT gives an extra bonus of magic damage resistance.
Dex does affect lightning BUT only for lightning ashes of war like granaxx spear, incantations are only affected by faith (I found this out the hard way)
though i was googling info and didnt expect to come here I now learned how effective hybrid scaling was for clawmark seals. I was so tunneled on the faith aspect of things, I forgot since I am using the Maliketh weapons anyway, im actually gaining more than I am losing especially since the black blade requires nearly equal scaling anyway. Even if the dual-wielding of seals gives a 15% bonus, I'd rather use Jellyfish Shield in the offhand for a 20% bonus. This works when mounted tho, with a Dragon Communion Seal +6 in the mainhand and a Godslayer's Seal +0 in the offhand Black Flame went from 764 to 837 which is roughly a 10% increase at 46 ARC/46 FTH.
Jellyfish weighs substantially more than a seal though. Dragon incants are better when paired with swappable weapons, and used to punish people who try to stay at range when you're buffed. If you use Jellyfish it really limits build options requiring more endurance.
Using the Jellyfish shield over simply holding another seal is a bad fit for most people. The Jellyfish shield is a great-shield after all, (with bad defense) its really heavy and most hybrid or pure caster builds cant spare 7-10 more points in endurance just to hold it. Especially when they can just hold another seal and get the damage bonus for free, without spending fp and doing an animation every 20 seconds. The whole thing is just really inconvenient unless your over leveled, but even then its kinda bad. If Im in a fight and want more spell damage, all I have to do is press left or right on the d-pad and Im good to go. But the shield requires you switch to it, spend fp and do an animation that leaves you open and tells the opponent what your up to. And it only lasts 20 seconds, instead of forever like another seal. Its also kinda bad that you cant use the buff and two hand your weapon, or even use an AoW while the buff is active. Even if the shield is equipped and out, the buff instantly goes away when its on your back. For example, I cant have the 20% dmg buff on the Blasphemous Blades AoW because L2 activates the shield, and two handing your weapon cancels it. Just having another seal that buffs your magic school is the superior choice in almost every scenario. Also, having two dragon seals doesnt just stack the damage buff, but also the bonus buildup of status... something the jelly shield cant do. Shhh, dont tell anybody tho.
great video man one of the first times I just searched up a random subject and found a random UA-camr and made my day better for it. you definitely earned a sub I love it when people actually use spreadsheets it makes for a much easier to digest formula. one thing I would like to add though the silvertear mask is great and all for adding the arcane but it does reduce physical damage output so anybody that is not running to seals and is using an offhand weapon that might be something to take into account. I can't think of it off the top of my head I don't think it's the prefector mask but it might be but one of them adds three Arcane with no downside so using that alongside of say marika scarseal or godrick rune you will make up the exact 8 in Arcane without touching any damage output

Lots of people don't like being forced to always have the jellyfish shield equipped to pop the shield art for a 20% damage bonus for 30 seconds. Note that the buff will also go away if you swap away from the shield. Definitely has its uses for usresure!
@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 You can achieve similar results with using Golden Vow ash of war or incantation. 15% damage increase and 10% damage taken decrease - but lats for 45 seconds (ash of war) and 80 seconds (incantation). Plus you'll be able to swap weapons and all of that. Worth the 5% trade off personally as an example (ofc better value with the incantation). But if you are a shield player and you want that DPS, jellyfish is the way.

I ron't think that's a bug. The crystal chime in ds3 has int and faith scaling, but physical miracles don't get the int scaling, as if int has nothing to do with them. They are the pure miracles after all.
@@PlayDohBear can you do a video on how much poise damage sorceries, incantations and ash of wars inflict? since i dont want to enter the shield or heavy/dull weapon meta for that im really curious. i found that the beast incantations are decent because of the low cost and short casting time. but the hugest thing is ASH OF WAR: FLAME OF THE REDMANES. 2-3 hits with that and even enemies in haligtree fall to their knees. its ridiculous.
@@ts6603 A lot of spells do negative poise damage. If you want the one spell that will stagger legit any enemy, use Rock Sling. Depends on the enemies poise, but this shit will stagger anything eventually. For weapon, the best INT weapon for staggers atm is the Dark Moon Greatsword. Moonveil works too even with its nerf.
@@PlayDohBear sadly i dont like int and sorceries. i prefer to cast spells from my hand instead of a staff (for the looks, especially when you have a sword in your right hand). so i go with faith and incantations atm. but if you decide to make a video on this i would suggest to cover the 3 categories mentioned :)
I can see why you prefer the dragon communion seal. The dragon incantations are pretty good but they’re just too expensive to use frequently outside of boss fights. I prefer the golden order seal since faith and int offer way more utility than faith arcane since I don’t ever really use bleed or anything else that scales with arcane. With faith int I also have access to a lot of sorceries as well if I chose to use them alongside incantations.
You should check out my latest updated build video! The Late Late Late game Mage haha. While the Dragon Comm is nice and fancy, good old Golden Order Seal is POG and great to pair with Prince of Death staff.
are canes good to have for PVE or PVP bleed builds but it also does wonders for Holy damage mitigation which can come in handy in some of the later game areas it also helps if your a collector because you can Farm rare drops easy. I'm running 2 characters one at level 150 for PVP but I have 1 for PVE that is going to be a walking golden god and that build I pumped 50 into arcane 80 Faith 80 int 60 strength 60 Dex and the build really got a lot more fun once I put in that 50 arcane and I tend to either run golden order with dragon in right hand or Double Dragon, or if you really want to get spicy go something like golden order Prince of death or Dragon seal Prince of death for bosses is devastating

Unless your going to overlevel past 125 or 150, there is really no need to have 80/80 int/fth for the Golden Order seal. At 60/60 or 65/65 the incant scaling is way higher than most seals, and still higher than Erdtree at 80-85 fth and it boosts a whole school of incants. And you cant cast golden order incants with just fth anyway. Most builds cant afford 80/80 unless they have no armor, no poise, low stamina, low health, low fp and light weapons. The only reason to go 80/80 is if your over leveling or want a squishy pure caster glass cannon, which is obviously fun to play around with.
I use the frenzy seal. I’d say it’s for people like me who just like to keep leveling nonstop. I don’t engage with pvp very often, so idc about meta levels, right now I’m around level 200+ halfway through ng+ 3, and I have 60 faith, 60 dex, 40 strength, and 35 int, I plan to keep leveling all of them. That’s what the frenzy seal is for, mine has I believe 320+ incant scaling, and it’s only going to go higher from there. That’s the purpose of the frenzy seal Edit: bruh I literally just explained the purpose of the frenzy seal, I’m not trying to make an argument that it’s best seal in the game. It gets the job done and incinerates all that divides and distinguishes even at ng+7 and you know what? That’s all that matters…

So if I invested 50 into Dex and 50 into faith, would frenzied flame be the best one because of dual scaling? Or would god slayers be better? I can't figure it out
I would recommend you check with the Weapon Calculator for 50 dex/50 faith. To help you get started I tested 60 faith and 60 dex because that's what I have on the spreadsheet I made to compare. So at 60 faith and 60 dex your Frenzied Flame seal has an incantation scaling of 246 (this is keeping str and int at 0, so the scaling will actually be higher, but not by much with your base points in str and int for your character). If we look at the other seals at 60 faith only, you see that there are ones that are higher in incantation scaling. God slayer seal provides a 291 incantation scaling at 60 faith only, so would actually still be higher in dps, UNLESS you are running Frenzied Flame Incantations for that 20% in damage. However, I am not sure if 291 does more damage vs 246 (+20%). That's something you'll have to test. ALSO: Frenzied Flame Seal is NOT dual scaling. It is quad scaling :3 - scales with STR DEX INT and FAITH.
Depends on your stats and if your dragon comm has higher scaling. Higher scaling usually out preforms the passive bonus. Also some incantations are not affected by the gravel seal. Make sure you check the spreadsheet and click the link to the wiki for more information on which incantations gets the passive boost from gravel.
The two fingers work the best on all two finger healing or two finger mentioned lore on the incantation description. I only have the dragon, beast and two fingers. My arcane is 40 faith at 20 and strength 40
@@PlayDohBear thanks, I was paying attention to more numbers and trying to see if two hd vs dual wielding would stack etc. then I came across a few spells and incantations that worked really well on staffs/seals that had the lowest scaling. Then when I started to read more into the descriptions of each item/spell. I noticed that even though I have a S tier item capped at max level, my lower level staff, or seal would out damage the maxed stier item, because it either had a passive that boosts that certain spell incantation, and/or just in the description of the spell reading in between the lines, you’ll see that it’s hinting that there is a staff/weapon/seal/armor out there that hasn’t been found yet. Having blight, poison, rot, frozen etc. they’ve got to have a seal that is designed for those spells. I had a friend just give me a staff that has a passive rot dmg that will inflict on people with any spell casted. So I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until someone has killed all the bosses in game and tried farming enemies with really nice weapons that drop gear/weapons. Finally got the mad frenzy flame and the monks seals. Thanks for the great intel! Keep up the great work
Oh my god frenzied flame is insane in ng+5 i have 2 1 at +10 80 faith 40 int 60 dex and 80 strength the beam is insane eventually all spells but the big hitters becomes obsolete because of the health scaling but all the frenzy spells clap if your really high level
My favorite seal is frenzied flame seal cause my favorite incarnation is flame of frenzy and my character is high level 312 works very well of high level builds
Btw dual wieldding Garven Stone Seal also increases damage second time with passive. Tested in Lighting Spear just now. +25 in one hand and +0 in other and I got 200+ more damage on my Lightning Spear. Same if you have Frenzy in off-hand and cast with better scaling Seal - you still get passive bonus from Frenzy Seal. Same with dual wielding Giant
Yep, the gravel stone and the dragon communion I did confirm. Good to know tbe giant seal also stacks passive. I did also explain about having a higher scaling seal and using another in the off hand for the passive bonus. Still unsure about the stacking passive for the other seals. So far, dragon comm, gravel, and giants have confirmation of stacking. Thank you for letting me know! I appreciate it!
@@PlayDohBear Yup, Giant Seal still totally not worth because Blasphemous Blade is better fire spell than any fire incantation but 2x Gravels for Lightning Spells is very good damage boost same as off hand Frenzy. For pure Faith builds you want Lighting damage spells and Blasph Blade anyway.
@critter critter Problem with Fire Spells is that Blasphemous Blade will do more damage even with dual Giant Seals, scorpion and godfrey icon. I tested it on my Dragon Cultist build. Also Flame, Grant me Strength is 20% increase no matter if you use Giant Seal or not.
one interesting problem I have found is that the Dragon Communion Seal spells are just less efficient for basic play. My Dragon Communion build was CRUSHING bosses with breath weapons, etc, but none of the Dragon Communion incantations are that good for just playing through a level. I swapped builds from Arcane/faith to pure faith and Gravel Stone so that lightning stuff can be stronger. I wonder if this build is better or dual wielding casting with Dragon Communion and Gravel in the offhand?
Gravel Stone in the off hand or the Jellyfish Shield buff should give you plenty of damage. Dragon Communion has a generous amount of flexibility with access to most incantations, more than a pure Faith build. An Arcane build can use most incantations except the Faith/INT Golden Order incantations, which pure Faith builds also can't use. Pure Faith builds, on the other hand, only have access to a few of the lesser Dragon Communion incantations, and that might require equipping the Silver Tear mask or something of that nature to meet the basic requirements. A basic incantation like Lightning Spear, Black Flame, or Pest Threads should be fine for typical enemies for exploration and dungeon crawling purposes. Flame of Frenzy and Frenzied Burst are also incantations I use often on my Faith build, and they require less Faith to use than some of the Dragon Communion incantations. It seems like Swarm of Flies, an Arcane incantation, would also suit this purpose to some extent unless it's an enemy that's immune to bleed.
I'm doing a Pyro build with 60 faith and 15 arcane for a few of the dragon spells. I'm using the giants seal and using giants flame take thee, surge o flame, agheel flame, placidus ruins, and frenzy burst. The damage is good but idk if I should spec more into arcane like a 40 arcane and a 36in faith
If you want to stop using the fire seal and go with dragon comm, you can do like 60 in arcane 40 faith and still be chilling. Just a suggestion though, haven't really messed with giant incantations but have heard they are just okay.

Very useful in pvp for me, I'm playing at level 125 I'm using the magma blade and magma whip. 2 magma blades and just with the base strength and dex to wield it plus 60 faith. Both magma whip and blades are hitting over 500 in attack power with the blades closer to 600 that's because I have the fire scorpion as well as both incantation boosting talisman and the erdtree favor. 40 in vigor and 20 in dex with 35 in mind. Somewhat of a glass Canon but hits very hard
Thanks so much for doing these videos and all your work...I just started playing and have toon at lvl 58ish..I was gonna do Dragon Bleed build but since patch and realizing I really lijek using incantations I'm going to re spec soon to a Str/Faith build. I still wanna do melee. Problem I was having was only so many Somber stones. I currently have Dragon Seal +5 but do have Godseal which I haven't used yet. I'm just wondering if I would be better off in a Str/Faith build levelign Godseal (since it uses smithing stones) and saving my SOmber stones for weapon? If so Would you recommend Godseal? Oh last thing.. I like using Lightening bc I havent advanced far enough to use much else..lol..Dragon spells are cool too. FLame of frenzie is great and fun. I'm guess I'll like bestial stuff too soon. Not so concerned with healing incantations that much. Part of my issue is I don't want to waste Somber stones as they are much harder to come by unless I know for sure where to put them. Thanks!
It does not: Despite also being flame-based, Catch Flame, Fire's Deadly Sin, Flame Sling, Flame, Cleanse Me, and Flame, Grant Me Strength do NOT seem to be boosted by this seal. :(
The finger seal, godslayer seal, giant's seal, and gravel stone seal ALL scale with STR and FAI and are "hybrid seals" by your definition but you haven't indicated them as such and I'm wondering why. The Erdtree seal is actually the only one that ONLY scales with FAI. I'm assuming the good scaling you can get from the finger seal, for example, is assuming that you have both your STR and FAI leveled up but I didn't hear you mention anything about this in the video, maybe I missed something.
The seals you mention are NOT HYBRID seals. Check out this post and scroll down to the "Hybrid" section: www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/tc3lyy/helpful_charts_for_offensive_stat_scaling/ Please also use the Weapon Calculator linked in the video description to confirm the results, as well as testing in-game. While these seals doe have STR scaling, it is a D/E scaling (depending on its upgrade level), which does not add any additional incantation scaling. For these seals to be considered HYBRID, they must add incantation scaling when speccing into the other attribute (which they do not). These seals scale purely off of faith. I did thorough testing prior to posting my staff/seal scaling videos :)
@@PlayDohBear Thanks so much for the reply! I believe that you were very thorough, I assumed as much based on all the excellent data you have in your videos! I was merely confused as to why in-game it mentions having STR scaling as well as FAI on the above seals but you did not count them as hybrids. I didn't expect the D or E scaling to not affect incant scaling as, per my own in-game experience, weapons that have E and D scaling, like Rivers of Blood for example, still gain damage points even in the attributes that have these scalings. I was surprised when I used the calculator you directed me to and the seals, as you said, did not actually gain any incant scaling despite listing STR as D scaling. So then I immediately backed up a save file and began actually testing in-game using respecs and sure enough the values were exactly as both you and the calculator indicated they would be. I wonder if this is perhaps another unintended scaling bug like the prior arcane bug? Strange to list it as scaling and have it not actually affect damage values in any way. At first, I thought possibly it was the attack value that was scaling of strength and not the incant but this also seems to be unaffected by STR. I really appreciate all the information you've provided both in linking to these reddit pages as well as compiling and presenting it all so nicely in your videos. It's really helped me with the research I'm doing on planning my caster build for my next NG run. In my first playthrough, I went melee only, and had about zero understanding of the mechanics behind sorc and incant scaling and your content specifically has helped me plan exactly how I'm going to min max my way towards a final build. I use the golden order seal out scales with int and faith. I'm lvl 648 best one so far. Duel scaling weapons seem to be the best same with prince of death staff. Actually has better scaling than lusats. My int /faith is 85/85

I was dual wielding dragon seals for the damage boost but switched to jellyfish shield in offhand for more damage, but still use double seals if I’m feeling lazy and don’t wanna keep casting jellyfish buff
Hey PlayDoBear, I have just finished my first playthrough as a Int/Dex mage and now switching to faith build on second playthrough. I have very high intelligence 85 and I still want to keep my sorceries and not respect, in this casew I might be better off with the Erdtree seal which scale better off Int? I have 37 Faith around. Planning on using Dragon incantation and lightning incantations for my build. Also, any weapon recommandations for Faith build?
Erdtree seal doesn't scale of int. It's a pure faith seal. The only seals that have int scaling are the golden order (hybrid) and frenzied flame (mega hybrid). There's also 2x types of dragon incantations. One that requires the dragon comm seal as it scales with arcane + faith + the damage bonus to the specific incantation type and the other is the gravel seal which scales off faith only and gives a bonus to the dragon cult incantations. Sword of night and flame is a good one if you have int/faith scaling, but since you have such high INT scaling just stick with a INT weapon like the moonveil. With 37 faith you'll do kind of crap damage with your incantations and not really worth using imo.

When we cast a certain incanation, is the damage only related to the seal (final scaling stats) or damage considers the incantion scaling as well? I mean, if I cast dragonfire from dragon communion incantations group which requires faith+arcane (and their related seal is indeed also scaling on faith+arcane), I will do more damage with 100%faith build+erdtree seal, or faith/arcane build+dragon comm. seal? So basically, when we see Arcane 15- faith 15 as requirement, means that incantation will scale on those stats as well or the incant scaling is ONLY related to seal final scaling - no matter what group they belongs? Hope you can help me :)
AFAIK, damage is based on the seal scaling. Pumping more points into INT/FAITH etc. unlocks spells you can use + increases scaling for the seals/staff you want to use as well. Remember you also get passive bonuses from staffs/seals for certain spells/incantations that will also affect your damage. Basically the arcane/faith/int you see on a spell/incantation is only there to say you need these stats to use this spell/incant. Regarding damage form the spell/incant, it all depends on the scaling/passive bonus from the seal/staff your using. Hope that helps!

Quick question. I’m running a faith/str build and currently have my str at 40 and faith at 60. I’m running the clawmark seal which gives me ~280 scaling. Would the giants seal or the godslayer seal scale better or am i best off with the clawmark seal?
Honestly doesn't matter too much here. Since they're all pretty similar at your stats. Choose the seal that best synergies with the incantations you want to use.

I have a +10 communion seal and it's no where near the 450 scaling... but it's also the highest scaling number out of all my seals, all the others are +9 but are like 50 - 100 scaling away from the 316 of my communion
Probably either gravel stone or erd tree to start. Since dragon communion does nothing for the lightning incantations. Then once you are able to allocate for points if you want to be higher level, you can go for a better scaling seal.
@@robert120987 it will help for the blood buildup which looses effectiveness at 45 arcane. Base damage of incantations and sorceries are all dependent on your staff/seal scaling.

Check out the damage using both and see for yourself. I'm leaning towards rock sling due to the higher scaling from the staff + you can off hand the meteorite staff for an extra 30% damage.
What if I have like 30 Faith and 80 Str? I don't use incantations loads but want to use lightning strike and a few of those kind of incantations for chip damage etc? Sometimes I do but I do mainly use it for Golden Vow and Flame Grant me Strength.

I ask bc I have Dragon Comm +5 right now and been using Regalia Daggar at +4...Both scale really well off Faith/Arcane. But I mainly use Incantations when playing. Your charts are for Faith scaling. I think I'm at 40 Faith and 40 Arcane right now...lvl 85. This includes buffs from Rune Arcs and Helmet etc.. Do I keep pumping skill points into Faith? Guess I'm confused bc it seems I do more dmg with spells when I put points into Arcane not Faith?
When does scaling out do bonuses? Also I believe the Golden Order has the best scaling at 418 if at 99 in both INT and FAI. Could you do something looking at that? Or could you compare a fully upgraded dragon seal versus a fully upgraded golden order?

So if I wanna focus on dragon cult incantation what is the best ? Dragon Communion main hand and gravel stone off hand ? I mean I'd have to pump my faith to 50 atleast to use all the dragon cult incantation. So 50 fth 80 arc maybe 🤔
Well, remember that the dragon cult and dragon communion are different bonuses. If you're going to use dragon cult incantations you can use the gravel for the passive bonus x2 or 1 gravel and another seal that scales higher. Dragon communion seal buffs its own set of incantations.
Give the video another watch and take a look at the spreadsheet linked in the description. You'll find your answer. If you're still struggling, let me know and I gotchu.
Requires me to have an extra seal i'm missing for testing. But check the spreadsheet/description below for updates on which seals do stack. I think the only one I haven't tested/gotten confirmation on is the Frenzied seal. But, good chance this one stacks too since all the rest do.
Need a bit more detail on what you're asking Jackie. For mages, you don't even bother with seals, because you want to use your staffs as they scale with INT. Late game mages can use a seal, but usually it's just for show/golden vow buff. You're still going to be using your staff for all your damage dealing spells and all of that.
What do you think of a mage build based around hybrid fai/int using scarlet rot sources as it's main...I guess gimmick? Rotten crystal staff for the spells, dragon seal with rotten breath or the upgraded version, additional utility/status effect incants/sorcs
If you're going to be using dragon incantations, you'll want to use the dragon communion seal. However that's faith arcane vs faith int. Unless you want to use dragon cult incantations. Honestly anything works if you have the luxury to go a mage build with a seal. Means you're pretty high level imo.
I’m lvl 250 and stopping there but my Int is 80 and my Faith is 31 and I get 324 incant scaling with the golden order seal. Definitely the way to go if you have high Int and decent Faith.
What level are you trying to stay around? I did a quick example for a faith + arcane distribution points with the dragon comm seal in this video. Check out the "Weapon Calculator Example" chapter.

Considering the soft cap for Arcane is 45 for incant scaling, I thought I would stop there at that. I'm also not sure where to keep Faith if I level Arcane to 45. Do you know what the softcap for Faith is on the Dragon Communion Seal? I'm looking to stay at 150 eventually but also trying to figure out how I'm going to level up.
@@kronosDking That example was a recommendation, but I did mention its about pretty darn optimized minus the str and dex. Soft caps for arcane and faith are the same for the seal. You'll just see higher scaling with higher arcane due to it having an S tier in arcane scaling (note you still want points into both for even better scaling due to it being a hybrid seal). Remember you can have gear equipped to take you to a higher stat amount for faith and arcane. If you're looking to stop around 150, that example is pretty spot on. Up to you if you want to allocate more points into arcane/faith for better scaling OR go more survivability. I highly encourage you to use the weapon calculator as once you start plugging in the numbers (make sure to start with the numbers of the base class you chose), then keep on adding points into faith and arcane until you see a nice scaling you like before dumping points into the other stats. I wouldn't worry too much about stat points while leveling up, since you can always use a larval tear to re-spec and prior to that, use the Weapon Calculator to confirm your results.
I’m still a bit confused on what to spec in for the best. I plan on using a good mix of incantations such as the dragon breaths, god flame fire ball, and such. Should I spec for godslayer or dragon seal for this play style?
Well the problem is depending on your level and where you want to stop, you'll have to choose 1 seal to main. This is more due to wanting to use dragon communion incantations. For the dragon communion seal to have a high scaling, it requires points into both arcane + faith, while Godslayer only needs faith. You'll have to decide this for yourself as these are two different types of playstyle. If you're at the lvl 200+ mark it won't matter since you'll have the attributes to allocate.

But keep in mind you can respec in this game and there’s enough upgrade material to fully upgrade a good amount of items, so you don’t have to worry too much about your ruining your build or wanting to try a new play style

@@TheBigErnChannel erd tree is great for pure faith. But since you have 70 int and faith, your golden order is much better. Important thing to note is that if you are using weapon buffs or healing buffs, erd tree will still be better as those are currently bugged and only scale with faith. The golden order seal is geared towards incantation. You can also buff with erd tree and swap for your incantations.

Watch the video one more time or take a look at the spreadsheet. You can clearly see which seal is best for PURE faith and which seal will be better for faith in the late late game (hint: a hybrid seal will be better for late late game due to better scaling). @@HalcyonEX best at late late game when you can invest both into faith and arcane. The pure best faith seal is the Erdtree as it has great scaling at 70-80 INT. Other seals are nice too as they provide a passive bonus to specific incantations (which some you can dual wield to x2 that passive).

Depends on the seal and if it's worth it for you to put more points into faith to increase the scaling. Note that hybrid seals require points into faith + the hybrid attribute(s). You can check the spreadsheet (link in description), weapon calculator (also in description) or re-watch the video and look at the table for scalings. Really depends on what level you're aiming for/how many points you want to allocate for that level/build. If you're planning on going to like lvl 200+ yeah just go to 80.

I’ve been using the calculators and going through the info in your vids and I understand the difference in incant scaling between 60/80 Faith with the seal I want. I just have no clue how that translates to damage output. I’m planning on staying in the 150-180 range for pvp matchmaking and I’m trying to do a godslayer “hybrid” build that will probably going to be suboptimal, which is fine. But can you get by with bare min weapon stat reqs? Like damage output. Also in your experience can have you noticed a significant jump in damage to justify going to 80 int/faith from 60? I guess I need to get further in the game to level up and find out. Just looking for some insight. Thanks!
@@043Tarzan I'm a damage addict so I took my main stat (int) to 80 for the final soft cap. As far as the damage increase based on scaling, you'll have to test it haha. I am not sure what the numbers are for scaling in terms of increased damage.
If you take a look at the video/spreadsheet, you can see the scaling for 40 faith and 40 arcane. So 315 scaling which is not bad at all. I'd also check the calculator if you want to really deep dive into it and min/max the build.
Maybe I missed something but I have a question. There is an incantation with flies. Right now I don't have much in arc because I mostly play as a warrior. What would be the best seal for this incantation?
Just a little clarification for why dragon communion is better: since it scales with arcane, status that are effected by arcane like bleed or madness, will also be effected by that, and proc swarm of flies bleed faster.
It does not. The only seals that scale with any other stat other than faith are listed as Hybrid in purple/pink. I know its a bit confusing even though godslayer seal has scaling for STR and DEX. However, the scaling is so low it does not apply any additional bonus to incantation scaling.
Im tryna figure out what the actual seals to. So if u have them equipped they give u bonuses in damage and/or incants etc... cuz i wanna use the halo scythe but my build is an INT/DEX build so im wondering if a seal could bring my arcane up sum more to make that scythe stronger? Any tips?
Seals are used only for casting incantations. They do not provide a damage to any weapons as far as I know. The bonuses they provide are to schools of incantations cast with them. Maybe they do boost weapon arts that resemble incantations, e.g. The Queen's Black Flame. Not sure about that.
Godslayer seal is best overall. For anyone wondering how elden ring is, especially people who havent played souls games, this one is like dragons dogma that is ability/weapon quality reliant. Try to focus mainly on maxing out the weapon and just get 30 in mind/vigor, you’ll be gucci. Rest is good at lvl 40 unless ur going for specifics.
Hey! With Str 55, Dex 55 and Faith 55: which should I use? I have the erdtree +9 but I'm not happy. Are the godslayer or clawmark better options? I'm mixing long range attacks with short range.
Head over to the weapon calculator (linked in the description) to manually input those numbers and see which hybrid seals gives you an edge (if they do), vs a pure faith one. I'd recommend testing the Frenized Flame seal in the weapon calculator and see if it beats out godslayer or clawmark. I gave an example in this video on the weapon calculator, however, I may make a whole video revolving that after the late late game sorc build.
You'll have to test to confirm. It may be really close and erd tree may still have a small edge. If you stack both seals, it most likely will. Then again, if you have enough points to use either the golden order or the dragon comm deals, they'll just be flat out better with their scaling.

I tested that and gravel with jellyfish shield is stronger for last lightning alone. Actually nothing beats gravel for lightning, not even 400 scaling. The 12% boost is significant with jellyfish or double seal.
its ridiculous how much lower is the best pure faith seal compared to best magic staf scaling at 80 .. its 353 vs 413+8% .... its 25% in total less dmg just from your weapon for faith builds.
Well remember it's still a hybrid seal. It just scales the best with arcane (not like there are many other options haha). Little disappointing that there is no pure arcane seal. 🤷♂️ Probably a balance thing maybe who knows.

I'd give the video one more watch but I did mention it. You want your main hand seal to be max lvl, but the off hand can be lvl 1. Just need it for the passive bonus if you plan on dual weilding.
I have 80 int and 68 faith and the golden order seal which is +9 does more damage than the erdtree seal which is maxed out. Is it because i have so many points into both int and faith? Also, the golden order seal can only be used with incantations and not with sorceries too, right?
Seals can only be used with incantations and staffs for sorcery. And yes, if you take a look at the Golden Order Seal, it scales with both INT and FAITH so the fact that you have 80 int and 68 faith means it will scale better than erdtree, because of its higher scaling. Golden Order Seal is good for mages that use the Prince of Death staff since they both have the same attribute allocations and scaling, which is nice.

Hey playdohbear. Thanks for the info for seals. I found a good way to take out that damn frenzy tower. There's an airlift on the far side by the cliffs/left if your riding south towards the tower. When you get close (out of line of sight) the frenzy build-up stops and you can climb the tower to take out the guys causing the frenzy. I don't think they respawn either. Watch out for the rats at the bottom of the tower though.
@@awakenedsaint I'll come back to that tower in NG+ and do this. I also want to use a mage spell that lessens madness build up as well haha.

The hidden beauty of the Flame of Frenzy Seal is that is weighs nothing and has no stat requirement, making it perfect for buffs on a non Faith/ Arcane build. That 1.5 pounds can be the difference between Med. Load and fat-rolling.
A pro tip for the dragon communion scale: if you put 25 into Fth instead of 23 you can then use Golden Vow. Which gives you a damage and defense buff that lasts 80 seconds. But more importantly it's ALSO buffs your incantation damage as well. It's well worth the extra two points. Dump the rest in arcane 👍

Also once you hit ~60 in arcane its worth getting your faith up to 30 as you will get more scaling on the dragon communion seal anyways with these levels in faith.
@@sqire1234567 I would definitely do that if I was going more towards a pure caster build but I need those extra 5 points to bring up the base damage or my dex weapons. The incants hit hard enough For me at 25/60. Hell even at 25/40 they're pretty nasty. Charged lighting spears are dealing around 1000 DMG at that level. And that's only with a +7 seal.
@@sqire1234567 Keep in mind that if you're using dragon comm, putting more points into faith will also increase your scaling which in turn increases damage. So yes, if you have the room to spare, put some more faith in. You'll benefit from slightly higher damage and able to use other incantations.
You can also just use the ash of war golden vow which cost 7 less FP for the same benefit though
Considering Lightning is now considered part Dexterity. It's odd to me that there isn't a Dex/Faith scaling seal.

I would have guessed Faith would have had Holy and Lightning damage, but they have Holy and Flame instead. Flame is pretty awesome, and Holy still damages undead pretty heavily (handy for all the catacombs there are in this game), but I have to say I wasn't keen on lightning damage migrating to DEX builds along with the half a dozen extra DEX buffs like casting time, less fall damage, harder to know off horse, ect. for no apparent reason while Faith gets no extra bonuses as far as I know. I think even INT gives an extra bonus of magic damage resistance.
Dex does affect lightning BUT only for lightning ashes of war like granaxx spear, incantations are only affected by faith (I found this out the hard way)

I now learned how effective hybrid scaling was for clawmark seals. I was so tunneled on the faith aspect of things, I forgot since I am using the Maliketh weapons anyway, im actually gaining more than I am losing especially since the black blade requires nearly equal scaling anyway. So thanks.

Even if the dual-wielding of seals gives a 15% bonus, I'd rather use Jellyfish Shield in the offhand for a 20% bonus. This works when mounted tho, with a Dragon Communion Seal +6 in the mainhand and a Godslayer's Seal +0 in the offhand Black Flame went from 764 to 837 which is roughly a 10% increase at 46 ARC/46 FTH.
Also a great choice. Just too many good things in this game really.
Jellyfish weighs substantially more than a seal though. Dragon incants are better when paired with swappable weapons, and used to punish people who try to stay at range when you're buffed. If you use Jellyfish it really limits build options requiring more endurance.
@@jccouture13 this is a big reason why I don't prefer the JFS. Weight is too damn high!
Using the Jellyfish shield over simply holding another seal is a bad fit for most people. The Jellyfish shield is a great-shield after all, (with bad defense) its really heavy and most hybrid or pure caster builds cant spare 7-10 more points in endurance just to hold it. Especially when they can just hold another seal and get the damage bonus for free, without spending fp and doing an animation every 20 seconds. The whole thing is just really inconvenient unless your over leveled, but even then its kinda bad. If Im in a fight and want more spell damage, all I have to do is press left or right on the d-pad and Im good to go. But the shield requires you switch to it, spend fp and do an animation that leaves you open and tells the opponent what your up to. And it only lasts 20 seconds, instead of forever like another seal. Its also kinda bad that you cant use the buff and two hand your weapon, or even use an AoW while the buff is active. Even if the shield is equipped and out, the buff instantly goes away when its on your back. For example, I cant have the 20% dmg buff on the Blasphemous Blades AoW because L2 activates the shield, and two handing your weapon cancels it. Just having another seal that buffs your magic school is the superior choice in almost every scenario.
Also, having two dragon seals doesnt just stack the damage buff, but also the bonus buildup of status... something the jelly shield cant do.

great video man one of the first times I just searched up a random subject and found a random UA-camr and made my day better for it. you definitely earned a sub I love it when people actually use spreadsheets it makes for a much easier to digest formula. one thing I would like to add though the silvertear mask is great and all for adding the arcane but it does reduce physical damage output so anybody that is not running to seals and is using an offhand weapon that might be something to take into account. I can't think of it off the top of my head I don't think it's the prefector mask but it might be but one of them adds three Arcane with no downside so using that alongside of say marika scarseal or godrick rune you will make up the exact 8 in Arcane without touching any damage output

Lots of people don't like being forced to always have the jellyfish shield equipped to pop the shield art for a 20% damage bonus for 30 seconds. Note that the buff will also go away if you swap away from the shield. Definitely has its uses for usresure!

@@ArthaxtaDaVince777 You can achieve similar results with using Golden Vow ash of war or incantation. 15% damage increase and 10% damage taken decrease - but lats for 45 seconds (ash of war) and 80 seconds (incantation). Plus you'll be able to swap weapons and all of that. Worth the 5% trade off personally as an example (ofc better value with the incantation). But if you are a shield player and you want that DPS, jellyfish is the way.

I ron't think that's a bug. The crystal chime in ds3 has int and faith scaling, but physical miracles don't get the int scaling, as if int has nothing to do with them. They are the pure miracles after all.

@@PlayDohBear can you do a video on how much poise damage sorceries, incantations and ash of wars inflict? since i dont want to enter the shield or heavy/dull weapon meta for that im really curious. i found that the beast incantations are decent because of the low cost and short casting time. but the hugest thing is ASH OF WAR: FLAME OF THE REDMANES. 2-3 hits with that and even enemies in haligtree fall to their knees. its ridiculous.
@@ts6603 A lot of spells do negative poise damage. If you want the one spell that will stagger legit any enemy, use Rock Sling. Depends on the enemies poise, but this shit will stagger anything eventually. For weapon, the best INT weapon for staggers atm is the Dark Moon Greatsword. Moonveil works too even with its nerf.
@@PlayDohBear sadly i dont like int and sorceries. i prefer to cast spells from my hand instead of a staff (for the looks, especially when you have a sword in your right hand). so i go with faith and incantations atm. but if you decide to make a video on this i would suggest to cover the 3 categories mentioned :)

I can see why you prefer the dragon communion seal. The dragon incantations are pretty good but they’re just too expensive to use frequently outside of boss fights. I prefer the golden order seal since faith and int offer way more utility than faith arcane since I don’t ever really use bleed or anything else that scales with arcane. With faith int I also have access to a lot of sorceries as well if I chose to use them alongside incantations.
You should check out my latest updated build video! The Late Late Late game Mage haha. While the Dragon Comm is nice and fancy, good old Golden Order Seal is POG and great to pair with Prince of Death staff.
are canes good to have for PVE or PVP bleed builds but it also does wonders for Holy damage mitigation which can come in handy in some of the later game areas it also helps if your a collector because you can Farm rare drops easy. I'm running 2 characters one at level 150 for PVP but I have 1 for PVE that is going to be a walking golden god and that build I pumped 50 into arcane 80 Faith 80 int 60 strength 60 Dex and the build really got a lot more fun once I put in that 50 arcane and I tend to either run golden order with dragon in right hand or Double Dragon, or if you really want to get spicy go something like golden order Prince of death or Dragon seal Prince of death for bosses is devastating

I will say 50 dex and 50 faith on the frenzied seal is really good for the vikes war spear
Unless your going to overlevel past 125 or 150, there is really no need to have 80/80 int/fth for the Golden Order seal. At 60/60 or 65/65 the incant scaling is way higher than most seals, and still higher than Erdtree at 80-85 fth and it boosts a whole school of incants. And you cant cast golden order incants with just fth anyway. Most builds cant afford 80/80 unless they have no armor, no poise, low stamina, low health, low fp and light weapons. The only reason to go 80/80 is if your over leveling or want a squishy pure caster glass cannon, which is obviously fun to play around with.
Yeah, those are really meant for super late game builds for those that want to go to ng +7 and want to keep lvling.

I use the frenzy seal. I’d say it’s for people like me who just like to keep leveling nonstop. I don’t engage with pvp very often, so idc about meta levels, right now I’m around level 200+ halfway through ng+ 3, and I have 60 faith, 60 dex, 40 strength, and 35 int, I plan to keep leveling all of them. That’s what the frenzy seal is for, mine has I believe 320+ incant scaling, and it’s only going to go higher from there. That’s the purpose of the frenzy seal
Edit: bruh I literally just explained the purpose of the frenzy seal, I’m not trying to make an argument that it’s best seal in the game. It gets the job done and incinerates all that divides and distinguishes even at ng+7 and you know what? That’s all that matters…

Erdtree is the best if you're only using heals and buffs since it only scales on faith. If you're looking for damage, it's not the best.

So if I invested 50 into Dex and 50 into faith, would frenzied flame be the best one because of dual scaling? Or would god slayers be better? I can't figure it out
I would recommend you check with the Weapon Calculator for 50 dex/50 faith. To help you get started I tested 60 faith and 60 dex because that's what I have on the spreadsheet I made to compare. So at 60 faith and 60 dex your Frenzied Flame seal has an incantation scaling of 246 (this is keeping str and int at 0, so the scaling will actually be higher, but not by much with your base points in str and int for your character). If we look at the other seals at 60 faith only, you see that there are ones that are higher in incantation scaling. God slayer seal provides a 291 incantation scaling at 60 faith only, so would actually still be higher in dps, UNLESS you are running Frenzied Flame Incantations for that 20% in damage. However, I am not sure if 291 does more damage vs 246 (+20%). That's something you'll have to test.
ALSO: Frenzied Flame Seal is NOT dual scaling. It is quad scaling :3 - scales with STR DEX INT and FAITH.

Depends on your stats and if your dragon comm has higher scaling. Higher scaling usually out preforms the passive bonus. Also some incantations are not affected by the gravel seal. Make sure you check the spreadsheet and click the link to the wiki for more information on which incantations gets the passive boost from gravel.
Did you upgrade it? Most damage in the game comes from upgrading weapons. Like the staff, seal, and melee weapons.
Points into your stats are actually less important to damage than upgrading weapons.

The two fingers work the best on all two finger healing or two finger mentioned lore on the incantation description. I only have the dragon, beast and two fingers. My arcane is 40 faith at 20 and strength 40
You'll get more as you progress or just look up a guide. They're not that hard to get.
@@PlayDohBear thanks, I was paying attention to more numbers and trying to see if two hd vs dual wielding would stack etc. then I came across a few spells and incantations that worked really well on staffs/seals that had the lowest scaling. Then when I started to read more into the descriptions of each item/spell. I noticed that even though I have a S tier item capped at max level, my lower level staff, or seal would out damage the maxed stier item, because it either had a passive that boosts that certain spell incantation, and/or just in the description of the spell reading in between the lines, you’ll see that it’s hinting that there is a staff/weapon/seal/armor out there that hasn’t been found yet. Having blight, poison, rot, frozen etc. they’ve got to have a seal that is designed for those spells. I had a friend just give me a staff that has a passive rot dmg that will inflict on people with any spell casted. So I’m sure it’s just a matter of time until someone has killed all the bosses in game and tried farming enemies with really nice weapons that drop gear/weapons. Finally got the mad frenzy flame and the monks seals. Thanks for the great intel! Keep up the great work
Oh my god frenzied flame is insane in ng+5 i have 2 1 at +10 80 faith 40 int 60 dex and 80 strength the beam is insane eventually all spells but the big hitters becomes obsolete because of the health scaling but all the frenzy spells clap if your really high level

My favorite seal is frenzied flame seal cause my favorite incarnation is flame of frenzy and my character is high level 312 works very well of high level builds
When you're that leveled, any seal will be poggers haha.
Btw dual wieldding Garven Stone Seal also increases damage second time with passive. Tested in Lighting Spear just now. +25 in one hand and +0 in other and I got 200+ more damage on my Lightning Spear.
Same if you have Frenzy in off-hand and cast with better scaling Seal - you still get passive bonus from Frenzy Seal.
Same with dual wielding Giant

I did also explain about having a higher scaling seal and using another in the off hand for the passive bonus. Still unsure about the stacking passive for the other seals. So far, dragon comm, gravel, and giants have confirmation of stacking.

For pure Faith builds you want Lighting damage spells and Blasph Blade anyway.

@critter critter Problem with Fire Spells is that Blasphemous Blade will do more damage even with dual Giant Seals, scorpion and godfrey icon. I tested it on my Dragon Cultist build.
Also Flame, Grant me Strength is 20% increase no matter if you use Giant Seal or not.

one interesting problem I have found is that the Dragon Communion Seal spells are just less efficient for basic play. My Dragon Communion build was CRUSHING bosses with breath weapons, etc, but none of the Dragon Communion incantations are that good for just playing through a level. I swapped builds from Arcane/faith to pure faith and Gravel Stone so that lightning stuff can be stronger.
I wonder if this build is better or dual wielding casting with Dragon Communion and Gravel in the offhand?
Gravel Stone in the off hand or the Jellyfish Shield buff should give you plenty of damage. Dragon Communion has a generous amount of flexibility with access to most incantations, more than a pure Faith build. An Arcane build can use most incantations except the Faith/INT Golden Order incantations, which pure Faith builds also can't use. Pure Faith builds, on the other hand, only have access to a few of the lesser Dragon Communion incantations, and that might require equipping the Silver Tear mask or something of that nature to meet the basic requirements. A basic incantation like Lightning Spear, Black Flame, or Pest Threads should be fine for typical enemies for exploration and dungeon crawling purposes. Flame of Frenzy and Frenzied Burst are also incantations I use often on my Faith build, and they require less Faith to use than some of the Dragon Communion incantations. It seems like Swarm of Flies, an Arcane incantation, would also suit this purpose to some extent unless it's an enemy that's immune to bleed.

I'm doing a Pyro build with 60 faith and 15 arcane for a few of the dragon spells. I'm using the giants seal and using giants flame take thee, surge o flame, agheel flame, placidus ruins, and frenzy burst. The damage is good but idk if I should spec more into arcane like a 40 arcane and a 36in faith
If you want to stop using the fire seal and go with dragon comm, you can do like 60 in arcane 40 faith and still be chilling. Just a suggestion though, haven't really messed with giant incantations but have heard they are just okay.

Very useful in pvp for me, I'm playing at level 125 I'm using the magma blade and magma whip. 2 magma blades and just with the base strength and dex to wield it plus 60 faith. Both magma whip and blades are hitting over 500 in attack power with the blades closer to 600 that's because I have the fire scorpion as well as both incantation boosting talisman and the erdtree favor. 40 in vigor and 20 in dex with 35 in mind. Somewhat of a glass Canon but hits very hard

The Frenzy seal is used in builds that can't meet a minimum faith requirement. It can be used builds that want to utilize the INT based incantations.
Thanks so much for doing these videos and all your work...I just started playing and have toon at lvl 58ish..I was gonna do Dragon Bleed build but since patch and realizing I really lijek using incantations I'm going to re spec soon to a Str/Faith build. I still wanna do melee. Problem I was having was only so many Somber stones. I currently have Dragon Seal +5 but do have Godseal which I haven't used yet. I'm just wondering if I would be better off in a Str/Faith build levelign Godseal (since it uses smithing stones) and saving my SOmber stones for weapon? If so Would you recommend Godseal?
Oh last thing.. I like using Lightening bc I havent advanced far enough to use much else..lol..Dragon spells are cool too. FLame of frenzie is great and fun. I'm guess I'll like bestial stuff too soon. Not so concerned with healing incantations that much.
Part of my issue is I don't want to waste Somber stones as they are much harder to come by unless I know for sure where to put them.

It does not: Despite also being flame-based, Catch Flame, Fire's Deadly Sin, Flame Sling, Flame, Cleanse Me, and Flame, Grant Me Strength do NOT seem to be boosted by this seal. :(

The finger seal, godslayer seal, giant's seal, and gravel stone seal ALL scale with STR and FAI and are "hybrid seals" by your definition but you haven't indicated them as such and I'm wondering why. The Erdtree seal is actually the only one that ONLY scales with FAI. I'm assuming the good scaling you can get from the finger seal, for example, is assuming that you have both your STR and FAI leveled up but I didn't hear you mention anything about this in the video, maybe I missed something.

Please also use the Weapon Calculator linked in the video description to confirm the results, as well as testing in-game. While these seals doe have STR scaling, it is a D/E scaling (depending on its upgrade level), which does not add any additional incantation scaling. For these seals to be considered HYBRID, they must add incantation scaling when speccing into the other attribute (which they do not). These seals scale purely off of faith.

@@PlayDohBear Thanks so much for the reply! I believe that you were very thorough, I assumed as much based on all the excellent data you have in your videos! I was merely confused as to why in-game it mentions having STR scaling as well as FAI on the above seals but you did not count them as hybrids. I didn't expect the D or E scaling to not affect incant scaling as, per my own in-game experience, weapons that have E and D scaling, like Rivers of Blood for example, still gain damage points even in the attributes that have these scalings. I was surprised when I used the calculator you directed me to and the seals, as you said, did not actually gain any incant scaling despite listing STR as D scaling.
So then I immediately backed up a save file and began actually testing in-game using respecs and sure enough the values were exactly as both you and the calculator indicated they would be. I wonder if this is perhaps another unintended scaling bug like the prior arcane bug? Strange to list it as scaling and have it not actually affect damage values in any way. At first, I thought possibly it was the attack value that was scaling of strength and not the incant but this also seems to be unaffected by STR.
I really appreciate all the information you've provided both in linking to these reddit pages as well as compiling and presenting it all so nicely in your videos. It's really helped me with the research I'm doing on planning my caster build for my next NG run. In my first playthrough, I went melee only, and had about zero understanding of the mechanics behind sorc and incant scaling and your content specifically has helped me plan exactly how I'm going to min max my way towards a final build. I use the golden order seal out scales with int and faith. I'm lvl 648 best one so far. Duel scaling weapons seem to be the best same with prince of death staff. Actually has better scaling than lusats. My int /faith is 85/85

I was dual wielding dragon seals for the damage boost but switched to jellyfish shield in offhand for more damage, but still use double seals if I’m feeling lazy and don’t wanna keep casting jellyfish buff

Hey PlayDoBear, I have just finished my first playthrough as a Int/Dex mage and now switching to faith build on second playthrough. I have very high intelligence 85 and I still want to keep my sorceries and not respect, in this casew I might be better off with the Erdtree seal which scale better off Int? I have 37 Faith around. Planning on using Dragon incantation and lightning incantations for my build. Also, any weapon recommandations for Faith build?
Erdtree seal doesn't scale of int. It's a pure faith seal. The only seals that have int scaling are the golden order (hybrid) and frenzied flame (mega hybrid). There's also 2x types of dragon incantations. One that requires the dragon comm seal as it scales with arcane + faith + the damage bonus to the specific incantation type and the other is the gravel seal which scales off faith only and gives a bonus to the dragon cult incantations.
Sword of night and flame is a good one if you have int/faith scaling, but since you have such high INT scaling just stick with a INT weapon like the moonveil. With 37 faith you'll do kind of crap damage with your incantations and not really worth using imo.

I mean, if I cast dragonfire from dragon communion incantations group which requires faith+arcane (and their related seal is indeed also scaling on faith+arcane), I will do more damage with 100%faith build+erdtree seal, or faith/arcane build+dragon comm. seal?
So basically, when we see Arcane 15- faith 15 as requirement, means that incantation will scale on those stats as well or the incant scaling is ONLY related to seal final scaling - no matter what group they belongs?

AFAIK, damage is based on the seal scaling. Pumping more points into INT/FAITH etc. unlocks spells you can use + increases scaling for the seals/staff you want to use as well. Remember you also get passive bonuses from staffs/seals for certain spells/incantations that will also affect your damage.
Basically the arcane/faith/int you see on a spell/incantation is only there to say you need these stats to use this spell/incant. Regarding damage form the spell/incant, it all depends on the scaling/passive bonus from the seal/staff your using. Hope that helps!

Quick question. I’m running a faith/str build and currently have my str at 40 and faith at 60. I’m running the clawmark seal which gives me ~280 scaling. Would the giants seal or the godslayer seal scale better or am i best off with the clawmark seal?
Honestly doesn't matter too much here. Since they're all pretty similar at your stats. Choose the seal that best synergies with the incantations you want to use.

I have a +10 communion seal and it's no where near the 450 scaling... but it's also the highest scaling number out of all my seals, all the others are +9 but are like 50 - 100 scaling away from the 316 of my communion

Probably either gravel stone or erd tree to start. Since dragon communion does nothing for the lightning incantations. Then once you are able to allocate for points if you want to be higher level, you can go for a better scaling seal.

@@robert120987 it will help for the blood buildup which looses effectiveness at 45 arcane. Base damage of incantations and sorceries are all dependent on your staff/seal scaling.

Check out the damage using both and see for yourself. I'm leaning towards rock sling due to the higher scaling from the staff + you can off hand the meteorite staff for an extra 30% damage.
Why do you get bonuses from both seals if your spells come out from one? it's strange, maybe it's not intentional.

What if I have like 30 Faith and 80 Str? I don't use incantations loads but want to use lightning strike and a few of those kind of incantations for chip damage etc? Sometimes I do but I do mainly use it for Golden Vow and Flame Grant me Strength.
Clawmark seal as it scales with both STR and faith. Any other seal at 30 faith will give you pretty poor returns.

I think I'm at 40 Faith and 40 Arcane right now...lvl 85. This includes buffs from Rune Arcs and Helmet etc.. Do I keep pumping skill points into Faith? Correct. Dragon com seal is more tailored towards Faith/Arc.
When does scaling out do bonuses? Also I believe the Golden Order has the best scaling at 418 if at 99 in both INT and FAI. Could you do something looking at that? Or could you compare a fully upgraded dragon seal versus a fully upgraded golden order?

Well, remember that the dragon cult and dragon communion are different bonuses. If you're going to use dragon cult incantations you can use the gravel for the passive bonus x2 or 1 gravel and another seal that scales higher. Dragon communion seal buffs its own set of incantations.

Requires me to have an extra seal i'm missing for testing. But check the spreadsheet/description below for updates on which seals do stack. I think the only one I haven't tested/gotten confirmation on is the Frenzied seal. But, good chance this one stacks too since all the rest do.

Need a bit more detail on what you're asking Jackie. For mages, you don't even bother with seals, because you want to use your staffs as they scale with INT. Late game mages can use a seal, but usually it's just for show/golden vow buff. You're still going to be using your staff for all your damage dealing spells and all of that.
What do you think of a mage build based around hybrid fai/int using scarlet rot sources as it's main...I guess gimmick? Rotten crystal staff for the spells, dragon seal with rotten breath or the upgraded version, additional utility/status effect incants/sorcs
If you're going to be using dragon incantations, you'll want to use the dragon communion seal. However that's faith arcane vs faith int. Unless you want to use dragon cult incantations. Honestly anything works if you have the luxury to go a mage build with a seal. Means you're pretty high level imo.
If you have both INT and Faith very High than go with the Golden Order one
I’m lvl 250 and stopping there but my Int is 80 and my Faith is 31 and I get 324 incant scaling with the golden order seal. Definitely the way to go if you have high Int and decent Faith.

What level are you trying to stay around? I did a quick example for a faith + arcane distribution points with the dragon comm seal in this video. Check out the "Weapon Calculator Example" chapter.

Considering the soft cap for Arcane is 45 for incant scaling, I thought I would stop there at that. I'm also not sure where to keep Faith if I level Arcane to 45. Do you know what the softcap for Faith is on the Dragon Communion Seal?

@@kronosDking That example was a recommendation, but I did mention its about pretty darn optimized minus the str and dex. Soft caps for arcane and faith are the same for the seal. You'll just see higher scaling with higher arcane due to it having an S tier in arcane scaling (note you still want points into both for even better scaling due to it being a hybrid seal). Remember you can have gear equipped to take you to a higher stat amount for faith and arcane. If you're looking to stop around 150, that example is pretty spot on. Up to you if you want to allocate more points into arcane/faith for better scaling OR go more survivability.
I highly encourage you to use the weapon calculator as once you start plugging in the numbers (make sure to start with the numbers of the base class you chose), then keep on adding points into faith and arcane until you see a nice scaling you like before dumping points into the other stats.
I wouldn't worry too much about stat points while leveling up, since you can always use a larval tear to re-spec and prior to that, use the Weapon Calculator to confirm your results.
I’m still a bit confused on what to spec in for the best. I plan on using a good mix of incantations such as the dragon breaths, god flame fire ball, and such. Should I spec for godslayer or dragon seal for this play style?
Well the problem is depending on your level and where you want to stop, you'll have to choose 1 seal to main. This is more due to wanting to use dragon communion incantations. For the dragon communion seal to have a high scaling, it requires points into both arcane + faith, while Godslayer only needs faith. You'll have to decide this for yourself as these are two different types of playstyle.
If you're at the lvl 200+ mark it won't matter since you'll have the attributes to allocate.

@@mateojimenez5171 Honestly, whatever fits your playstyle. I tried melee, wasn't for me, switched and love it. Now it does make me want to revisit melee because now I got that addiction to the souls genre haha.
@@mateojimenez5171 I would start with the godslayers and mainly invest in faith. This gives you overall more spells to mess around with. But keep in mind you can respec in this game and there’s enough upgrade material to fully upgrade a good amount of items, so you don’t have to worry too much about your ruining your build or wanting to try a new play style

I'm level 216, with Faith and Int both @70. NOT a Mage.. I use the BLASPHEMOUS Blade and Wing of Astel sword spells 100% of the time. Which Seal should I use?

@@TheBigErnChannel erd tree is great for pure faith. But since you have 70 int and faith, your golden order is much better. Important thing to note is that if you are using weapon buffs or healing buffs, erd tree will still be better as those are currently bugged and only scale with faith. The golden order seal is geared towards incantation. You can also buff with erd tree and swap for your incantations.

Watch the video one more time or take a look at the spreadsheet. You can clearly see which seal is best for PURE faith and which seal will be better for faith in the late late game (hint: a hybrid seal will be better for late late game due to better scaling). I can give you the answer, but you will 100% figure it out I promise. If you are still struggling, let me know and I gotchu.

@@HalcyonEX best at late late game when you can invest both into faith and arcane. The pure best faith seal is the Erdtree as it has great scaling at 70-80 INT. Other seals are nice too as they provide a passive bonus to specific incantations (which some you can dual wield to x2 that passive).

@@mischief2223 Yeah the seal won't work for the vykes dragonbolt. Pretty sure it's static and is not affected by anything (don't quote me on this though). As far as which seal is best at 25 faith, can't say. You'll have to use to weapon calculator (linked in the video description). Clawmark makes sense since you are going str/faith!

Depends on the seal and if it's worth it for you to put more points into faith to increase the scaling. Note that hybrid seals require points into faith + the hybrid attribute(s). You can check the spreadsheet (link in description), weapon calculator (also in description) or re-watch the video and look at the table for scalings.
Really depends on what level you're aiming for/how many points you want to allocate for that level/build. If you're planning on going to like lvl 200+ yeah just go to 80.

I’ve been using the calculators and going through the info in your vids and I understand the difference in incant scaling between 60/80 Faith with the seal I want. I just have no clue how that translates to damage output.
I’m planning on staying in the 150-180 range for pvp matchmaking and I’m trying to do a godslayer “hybrid” build that will probably going to be suboptimal, which is fine. But can you get by with bare min weapon stat reqs? Like damage output.
Also in your experience can have you noticed a significant jump in damage to justify going to 80 int/faith from 60?
I guess I need to get further in the game to level up and find out. Just looking for some insight. Thanks!

As far as the damage increase based on scaling, you'll have to test it haha. I am not sure what the numbers are for scaling in terms of increased damage.

If you take a look at the video/spreadsheet, you can see the scaling for 40 faith and 40 arcane. So 315 scaling which is not bad at all. I'd also check the calculator if you want to really deep dive into it and min/max the build.
Maybe I missed something but I have a question. There is an incantation with flies. Right now I don't have much in arc because I mostly play as a warrior. What would be the best seal for this incantation?

Just a little clarification for why dragon communion is better: since it scales with arcane, status that are effected by arcane like bleed or madness, will also be effected by that, and proc swarm of flies bleed faster.
Doesn't the godslayer seal scale with strength as well?
It does not. The only seals that scale with any other stat other than faith are listed as Hybrid in purple/pink. I know its a bit confusing even though godslayer seal has scaling for STR and DEX. However, the scaling is so low it does not apply any additional bonus to incantation scaling.
Im tryna figure out what the actual seals to. So if u have them equipped they give u bonuses in damage and/or incants etc... cuz i wanna use the halo scythe but my build is an INT/DEX build so im wondering if a seal could bring my arcane up sum more to make that scythe stronger? Any tips?
Seals are used only for casting incantations. They do not provide a damage to any weapons as far as I know. The bonuses they provide are to schools of incantations cast with them. Maybe they do boost weapon arts that resemble incantations, e.g. The Queen's Black Flame. Not sure about that.
If you want to use the halo scythe, respec. Int/Dex isn't going to help you with that. And you need Faith, not Arcane for that.

Godslayer seal is best overall. For anyone wondering how elden ring is, especially people who havent played souls games, this one is like dragons dogma that is ability/weapon quality reliant. Try to focus mainly on maxing out the weapon and just get 30 in mind/vigor, you’ll be gucci. Rest is good at lvl 40 unless ur going for specifics.
You're not wrong there. Erdtree does have that slight edge though, but yeah not by much.
My dragon communion seal+10 attack power is only 240 even tho my faith is 99 and arcane is 77
Perhaps they made adjustments since this video. I'd double check with the calculator as it is always updated.

Hey! With Str 55, Dex 55 and Faith 55: which should I use? I have the erdtree +9 but I'm not happy. Are the godslayer or clawmark better options? I'm mixing long range attacks with short range.
Head over to the weapon calculator (linked in the description) to manually input those numbers and see which hybrid seals gives you an edge (if they do), vs a pure faith one. I'd recommend testing the Frenized Flame seal in the weapon calculator and see if it beats out godslayer or clawmark. I gave an example in this video on the weapon calculator, however, I may make a whole video revolving that after the late late game sorc build.

You'll have to test to confirm. It may be really close and erd tree may still have a small edge. If you stack both seals, it most likely will. Then again, if you have enough points to use either the golden order or the dragon comm deals, they'll just be flat out better with their scaling.

I tested that and gravel with jellyfish shield is stronger for last lightning alone. Actually nothing beats gravel for lightning, not even 400 scaling. The 12% boost is significant with jellyfish or double seal.
its ridiculous how much lower is the best pure faith seal compared to best magic staf scaling at 80 .. its 353 vs 413+8% .... its 25% in total less dmg just from your weapon for faith builds.
Well remember it's still a hybrid seal. It just scales the best with arcane (not like there are many other options haha). Little disappointing that there is no pure arcane seal. 🤷♂️ Probably a balance thing maybe who knows.

You do not, an additional seal will still provide the incantation bonus even when unupgraded.

I'd give the video one more watch but I did mention it. You want your main hand seal to be max lvl, but the off hand can be lvl 1. Just need it for the passive bonus if you plan on dual weilding.

I have 80 int and 68 faith and the golden order seal which is +9 does more damage than the erdtree seal which is maxed out. Is it because i have so many points into both int and faith?

Seals can only be used with incantations and staffs for sorcery. And yes, if you take a look at the Golden Order Seal, it scales with both INT and FAITH so the fact that you have 80 int and 68 faith means it will scale better than erdtree, because of its higher scaling. Golden Order Seal is good for mages that use the Prince of Death staff since they both have the same attribute allocations and scaling, which is nice.
