Notably for the Clawmark Seal and the Frenzied Flame: as other comments have been saying instead of just scaling the wimpy punch, Clawmark scales incantations with Strength and FF scales incantations with Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Faith. A notable side effect of that is that the game treats your STR as 1.5 times the stat if you two hand a weapon, so two handing the Clawmark Seal actually provides a boost to incantation damage, which is wild. Does the same for FF, but obviously the lower STR scaling means it's less impactful. Clawmark is by far the highest damaging seal for STR/FTH builds, and Frenzied will be competitive for DEX/FTH builds and obviously the premier seal if you invest evenly in all four of those stats. Has lower softcaps in each of the stats though. If I remember correctly Clawmark, Dragon Communion, and Golden Order all softcap their scalings around 45/45 in their respective stats and Frenzied softcaps around 30/30/30/30, while the rest cap at 80 FTH. Feel free to correct me if someone else knows better about that, I'm just going off of memory.
So, I can assume this is right if no one has something against this?
@@smolbean2263 str on clawmark seal does not affect its incantation scaling, its the scaling for its physical dmg when u melee with it.

so 2 of things I completely missed.
1. clawmark seal actually benefits off strength, so strength/faith builds should be using clawmark.
2. healing spells only scale off faith scaling. so seals with less faith scaling aren't as good for healing at least. 40 faith godslayer is best, 80 faith erdtree is best. dont use clawmark/dragon communion/ frenzied flame/ golden order for healing spells.
Oh man, i had no idea about the healing shit. I was wondering why everyone else was talking big about lord heal when even erdtree heal wasnt healing me to full, its cuz im using clawmark.
You missed that the Frenzied Flame Seal also scales off of dexterity and strength.

@@MrBuns-yi2hk The only thing it doesn't scale with is Arcane. You can see in the video that Frenzied Flame Seal actually has superior incantation scaling than Erdtree because the build has 40/40 int/faith. I was really hoping to see different thresholds in this sort of testing video, like having 80 dex or 80 str.
So does the clawmark seal actually work as intended?
As a Faith Strength build I found Clawmark outperformed every other seal, even when upgrading all the seals to max level and using them for their specific incantation type (At 45 str, 46 faith, 17 Arcane, 10 Int) but the off hand tip is super helpful
Makes sense since it scales off Str and Faith. But as he listed, the scaling when you get to 80 Faith makes the B to strength a bit useless. The S to faith vastly outshines it, for your spells. So mid game the claw may serve you well, like Godslayer, but not so late game.

While this might not be the case for the other seals, the Clawmark Seal's incant scaling benefits from the strength scaling. Slotting in a strength-boosting talisman increased the incant scaling on it. So it might not be fair to say its terrible all around; it has its niche, which is nice.
Outside of that, lots of helpful information. I will likely be linking this video to anyone asking for detailed information on the sacred seals!

Thanks bro, played all game with the godsplayer seal and I think it's perfect, it also boost with it's passive wepons that also use gosplayer flame making it an amazing combo.
For my in depth research into Seals I recommend the 'Rose on the Gray'. When deployed in PVP the responses actually show the age of the player.

In my experience, godslayer gave the largest amount of increased ar for wepaon buffs and the best healing, and the dragon communion had the best damage from all types of offensive incantations.
really? why do you think that is? Like is this still the case? Isn't it just to do with incant calling full stop? So wouldn't whatever scale with the highest incant calling be the best for both damage and weapon buff dmg?
While the different seals are to boost certain incantations, the BEST seal is the one where your build specs line up with the seal's specs. A real world example is "Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike." The Gravel Stone seal is supposed to be the best for this, BUT, for my 99 Intellect (with some Arcane and Faith) build it has LOWER damage than my Golden Order seal, after both seals are upgraded to the max. I sometimes farm the little red guys on the Palace Cliff area. Using "Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike" with Golden Order, every mob that gets hit, dies. Every one. Equipping the Gravel Stone, ALL the mobs still had some health left, (and started attacking me). Why? Because the Gravel Stone doesn't scale with Intellect as does the Golden Order.
So bottom line, you need to use a seal that lines up with YOUR specs, (or vice versa, respec YOUR build to what the seal needs if you really want to use a certain seal.) I tried using the various incantations, and none of them cause nearly as much damage as my regular sorcery spells. Comet Azur is my regular Boss (and Crucible Knight) vaporizer and I don't want to give that up with a respec just to make incantations work better. Btw, my most often used spell is "Stars of Ruin," especially for mobs/Invaders/frenzied cats/etc that are good at dodging; Invaders especially, as they get paralyzed until they die, from being continuously hit. It's rather hilarious to watch them try to attack you but they can't even get close. They can dodge all they want but they can't escape the Stars chasing after them.
I am lvl 713 and that works better than using any other seal specific to its class.I been messing around with 2 of each comparing the damages.And barely see a difference with Golden order in both hands to having a gravel stone or communion in my left.Also in the same way on the int side the Prince of death is best with faith and int.,if you go wizard.

For Pure faith, Erdtree is the best overall seal when going at or above 67 faith. It really sings at 80+ faith.

I'm at 45 strength and 45 faith rn for my hybrid build with the blasphemous blade+clawmark seal and it has been super fun. For my build the clawmark seal out damage all other seal when i tested it so it definitely have its place and purpose.

This was a really sick video, thanks! I had played most of the game around 50 faith with the finger seal, starting as a confessor(???) so I felt pretty confident that this was going to be the best all around seal for sure. I have mostly swapped to godslayer only because black flame is my go to use for lots of fights, but HONESTLY if you aren't higher faith, the two seem to have almost identical stats, so def will keep that in mind if I ever wanna respec into more faith, very good numbers on the other seals.

You can test more calmly with the birds at the divine tower of limgrave. They also have no resistances so using different damage types won't affect the numbers.

great content! tho I'd say the comparisons are a bit unfair for seals scale two or more stats.
if you test 80 faith on seals only scale with faith, then you should test 45 faith + 45 arcane/int on seals scale with two stats. Say you start with a wretch class, you need 70 levels to reach 80 faith. With 70 levels, you can also have 45 faith + 45 arcane/int instead. It's important because while 80 faith does hit the very last breakpoint as 30/45/60/80, 40 faith + 40 arcane/int is not even hitting the second breakpoint, 10 points can still make huge difference.
Winner winner. These numbers are good, but realistically we should be testing the numbers people will realistically use in different builds. Still really appreciate the testing, I know how tiresome it is so I don't wanna diminish that at all! Just want to let people know with the build diversity this game has each seal does actually have a use case.
Frenzy flame seal is actually good if your using vykes spear since you can buff the seal with points you would have wasted on strength and dex needed to wield the spear.

@@frank.e.wildcat Vykes spear gets some scaling with strength and dex.
You will need to atleast have the minimum amount of str and dex to wield the spear. Those points you use to wield/buff the spear are going to also buff the seal of frenzied flame. Those are/dex points wouldn't buff your other seals.
For vykes/frenzy build you should run 45 Faith (The cap on hybrid scaling staff/seals is 45 per attribute) and then dex to buff the spear for more damage.

I was testing out my dragon cult incantations and decided to use gravel stone since I have 80 faith and use lightening a lot. Hits like a truck

The scaling on sacred seals appear to be bugged at the moment specifically for weapon buffs and heals. Nothing except the portion of the incantation scaling you get from faith counts towards those specific incantation values. This means the beastclaw seal for example, that scales on faith and strength, only uses the faith half of it's stat scaling for healing spells and weapon buffs. This bug is awful since half of the sacred seals scale on multiple stats besides faith and are put at a disadvantage merely from a bug. Hopefully this gets fixed soon and isn't one of those bugs that lasts the entire game's lifespan.

Ideally we'd see a comparison for real high level investments. Like 60/60 faith/int with golden order vs 60 faith in erdtree (or to really figure out the scaling 80/80 vs 80) , or a 60/40 arcane/faith split (or again, with similar numbers like 80/40 or even 90/30 or 40 whatever) to see if you really want to maximize at RL 150 and get a real grasp of the scaling and therefore what investment you want or need even if it makes you a glass cannon. My hunch is that the dragon seal will have the best scaling. It's a dual scaling talisman where you need faith, but you can get the minimum faith necessary and also pump an S scaling stat.
Love the video as faith is underrated. You can cast lightning spear faster than a majority of spells and other incantations if you cast right when the opponent casts and you will stagger them and stop their cast while dealing a good amount of damage. I destroy Int builds for that reason alone stopping all their spells. They usually leave or start spamming pebble as pebble is a really fast cast time. Also they get staggered out of any casts even the ones that they float in the air before casting, it's just free damage or an instant kill if they have no vigor.
I beat Malenia last night on NG+ with just the spear and elmtree heal. Golden Order+9 INT 60 FAI 60. Sword of of night and flame+10 and a brass shield. She really was double the strength and 50% more agressive than the first playthrough. I don't think I could ever beat her on a third playthrough

Very good video! Great work! One thing I missed or maybe you could explain is why does the erdtree as only seal have physical and holy dmg ? The other seals only deal physical dmg. Does this mean that a fire incantation with erdtree seal does also holy dmg ? This confuses me
I personally use the Godslayer Seal that you find in Stormveil Castle. My main incantations are Servants of rot though, and I back that up with a few scattered buffs, a heal and godskin spells. I find the buff, the shield and the fireball to be very useful.
I use dark flame ball and boosts it a lot and will use lightning too. It has S scaling with Faith when upgraded enough.

Lv400+ frenzied flame since I have all the scaling stats at 60 it outperforms all others, lv 100-200 use godslayer or the specialized seal 200-300 erdtree if using several types of incants, golden order if also using the prince of death staff with golden order incantations and death spells as both have same scaling in int/fair with sword of night and flame
Do remember the clawmark also scales with strength
Great testing, I’d suggest excel for presenting results. JGOD does a great job of this on Warzone, might be worth checking his vids out for inspiration. Love the thought process and testing 💪
frenzied flame is the only seal with dex in it- yes there are not many rogue/assassin incantations, but it's best for them if you go minimum faith/arcane build, yes not for damage, but for utility (darkness, assassins approach, maybe some weapon "enchanting" just for a lil bit of bonus damage)
Frenzied Flame Seal also scales with Strength and Dexterity so it can be pretty good for a quality build.
I can understand the confusion because almost all the seals say they scale from STR for some reason (who even cares about punching with them smh) but the Beast Claw (and Frenzied Flame) actually do incant scale with STR

My character has been rocking pretty much a full frenzy build. I accidentally walked into the point of no return for the frenzied flame ending and so... rather than run from it, I have wholy embraced the will of the 3 fingers. It's not easy, but it is really fun and that's all that matters, right?
Any idea if I should use the clawmark seal or the giants seal? (I’m running 40 str and 60 fai). side note: is that a decent distribution for a str/fai build? Or should i do 60 str/40 fai or even 50/50? I figured having higher faith will let me use more incantations

I think each of the seals should've had a unique appearance to them...like seriously I don't think there are that many seals it could've been done imo

As far as I know (I dont have all of them) the dragon communion seal is the only one thats not just a gold glow 😧 (and its the only one I use because of that)
Godslayer seal should've had a black flame around your hand not another golden glow (probably would be my second choice out of all of them if it did)
The frenzied flame seal (I think I missed this one I completely accidentally skipped whats her faces quest and have already beat like a bit over half the game) I can understand it being gold but should still be a flame but make it "frenzied" like it would randomly and violently shoot out small bursts of flame from the hand its equiped in (a golden flame hand would've been 10x cooler than just a simple glow in the dark seal)
Edit: I think I saw a few sparks coming off it in the video...I'll give it a pass...at least its different than "just a golden glow"
The claw mark seal should've turned you hand and forearm in to a beast like arm kinda like bloodborne when you had that one beast rune on (maybe give it a special skill that lets turn your other arm into a exact copy of the beast arm and unleash a wild and furious combo attack) (would be my no. 1 choice if it did...I like flashy combo's)
The (gravelstone?) seal should've had lightning effects around the arm (all colors as well the standard yellow, and the new red lighting, and the frozen blue lightning...which I hope they add more of, maybe make it based on which lightning spell you used last example: lightning spear = yellow fx, frozen lightning spear = blue fx, leanaseax glaive = red fx)
Giants flame seal...should cover your whole arm and half your chest and one eye in giants flame
Etc. Etc. Blah blah blah you get the idea they should've been more unique in appearance at least
If they were all going to just be golden they may as well not boost specific incantations either imo

If you go arcane + dragon incantations the dragon communion seal is very strong, I combined that with reduvia blood blade which also scales really well with arcane.
And they fixed the arcane scaling in the new patch.. I'm thinking that a dragon-vampire build would be great for my NG+ (when you wanna do something new but don't want to let go of ekzyke/rotten breath xD)

Ive got a decently hybrid build currently at 30 str 50 dex and just enough arcane-faith to use bloodflame. Im planning on reducing my strength to focus dex, but what does bloodflame scale off? Is it arcane or faith
A better test dummy is the giant troll right outside of the secluded cell in the storm castle. His back is turned to you, so he does not aggro you until you attack him, you can even walk up right behind him for a melee hit. Also, he can not follow you into the tunnel and he is VERY slow.

Jesus this is all so elaborate lol so many seals, I just wanna know which incantations are good for a strength build and what seals to use them? I keep finding all these seals that only give me access to like one or two shit skills.
for specifically flame spells, which seal is the best 80 faith erdtree, dragon communion with mor arcane than faith, or giants seal?
Seeing as I plan to cap at 40 (planning Dex/Fai) I guess Godslayer it is!
Though if I end up just getting Faith to 60, I suppose Erdtree is the way to go. Will have to see what I do.
I have 63 faith and 16 str. I tested Erdtree +10 and Godslayer +25 and Godslayer still had higher incantation for me. It may be worth trying Frenzied Flame if you are going to have 40 dex as well.
If im going 50-50 on dex and faith what would yall recommend?
My character who is level 310 uses the frenzied flame seal and I have 80 strength dex and faith and 20 intelligence and when I use the frenzied flame incantation with all the talismans like flock canvas and fire scorpion plus Godfrey icon cause the spell can be charged then use it against a large target you will get lots of multi hits and tons of stagger damage it’s very powerful best seal and spell in my opinion if what your fighting is large it will stagger it giving you another free cast of the huge damage spell add flame grant me strength and golden vow for even more damage

Does anyone know if Heirloom Talismans (+5 Stats) affect the damage output of seals or weapons? Or are they only there to give you "empty" stat points. Did some testing and the damage against Vulgar Militias never changed by much (~20 at most).
