    I think it's a better idea to paint the whole car. I know you have little time on your hands to work on your cars but it'll be worth it in the long run. Otherwise after you paint the front you'll think it looks great but the back will look funky with all the scratches. Just a thought. I'm always happy to see your progress btw. Keep up the great work. :)

    First thought would be the valve stem seals, Maybe a stuck open pcv valve sucking in oil, could contribute to it wanting to shut off when it's cold if it's stuck open too (vacuum leak) run a catch can too that way your octane rating doesn't lower burning off oil

    In the back of the intake where your pcv valve is. There should be a mesh screen slug/breather element that goes under the pcv valve. It could have been left out on the rebuild. I put a catchcan between my pvc and intake to evite oil getting in the intake. Also make sure the valve over is still baffled where is. COnnected to throttle body

    check where the plug wires are at on the cap, there should be a molded number 1 on the cap and that is where the number one plug wire HAS to be. the fuel injectors are sequential and timed off the wheel inside the distributor and if your plug wires are not in the correct spot you will be spraying fuel at a closed intake valve and can cause the pops at lower rpm as the fuel doesnt go to the correct cylinder.

    Maybe add a catch can to at least keep the intake from clogging up with oil deposits again. You’ll just have to remember to empty it often enough. Also cross check Ford throttle bodies because some are at least 70mm from the factory on larger engines. You may be able to upgrade that at the junk yard for a lot less than a new Accufab. (Unless they want to sponsor you of course)

    ALSO be careful with the clearance of those roller rockers with stock valve covers! i heard a lot of noise when you started it back up after getting it all back together. i know they sell a little bit taller valve covers for roller rocker clearance but it requires you to add a spacer to your upper intake.

    • @GeoffTheGiraffe
      @GeoffTheGiraffe 2 роки тому

      That would only really be a problem with stud mount rockers and poly locks. The noise is most likely some lifters that bled down while he was working on it.

    It aint the valves. You have a fueling issue. Your engine uses 02 sensors, why dont you measure them when running. 0 volts is lean, 1volt is rich, pretty simple. your valve nonsense is just that. the burning oil is from the guides NOT THE SEALS, the seals allow oil to lube the guides, the guides cause the excessive oil. Why dont you have caps on the compressor ports? do you plan to not have a/c? Timing needs to be 10BTDC, not 15.
