The horn button is on the end of the blinker lever, "The More You Know" , that's crazy who stores a car for 32 years , and then jest's gives it away ? Craig you just scored
@@racer193wr Yes, the 1979 cars placed the interior door handles at the bottom of the doors. Up to the top in 1980 on. Ford got a little too cute with metric badging. Yet the 5.0 became an icon (truly 4.9 lol)
Possum is the perfect name for that car given the history so far. The interior is immaculate for setting so long it will be cool to watch get it up and running.
Those TRX wheels look like they are in good shape. Back in the 80’s we tossed them all, since Michelin was the only one that had tires that fit. That’s a sweet coupe, and the possum is a bonus! I had a 79 Capri, before my 88 5L
To use the horn you have to push the turn signal level in . I love the old 4 eyes!! look on the signal lever. You'll see a horn picture with an arrow pointing toward the steering column.
Craig- the possum " nest" was on the front passenger side.... You were looking at the front driver side after you got it off the trailer. I was LMFAO when the critter tried to crawl down the firewall... Great video
I am very excited to see what you do with this old girl..... I purchased a 1979 that could be her sister car. I am working on mine now and good progress has been made. My 79 has the six in a row ready to tow under the hood... What a great engine - I cannot ever see taking this powerplant out but I will work to tweak her to gain some more horse power without sacrificing durability - drivability. Keeping mine "stock but significantly improved" (vs what I bought a year or so ago) is my priority.
Craig, love your channel and the content. Your going to have a great time working on that notch, can't wait to see your plans for it. My son and I are prepping a grungy barn find 85 GT for next year's power tour. Hope to see you there.
I had a 82 GL back in the early 2000s my boys and I named Rustang. I bought from my neighbor was former Air Force. It was a hatchback Arizona car and was the first year of the 302 HO engines and mine came in Pastel French Vanilla with a camel leather color interior. It also had a three speed with overdrive. Started working on it and blew the engine and got rid of it. I wish I didn't. They only made like 9000 in the hatch that year.
I grew up in a 78 Fairmont wagon that was the same interior just beige. Had the same straight 6 in it too. Loved the long drive to Grandma's house chilling in the back!
I love all the fox cars , save that minty T-bird before heaven ! Early 82 car there as you learned. The base 1982 trim was Mustang L, next was GL , GLX, then GT. First year of the 5.0 HO with a mild cam and big 2 barrel. fastest US production car in' 82, You could order the same performance in GL & GLX trim, no T-5 until late 1983. There are some great commercials from the '80s including California Highway Patrol, clowns dancing around the car in1984 doing the "moonwalk" with Casey Kasem narrating. Nice work ! subscribed and will check out some more. Have a nice 89 5.0, 5 spd vert I've owned 28 years, solid survivor. The comedy and heartache lives in the 1990 hatch with the 85 2.3 turbo. Runs a few times a year and leaves me scratching my head. Carry on !
Baked out #1C silver paint probably won't "buff out". The coolest thing about that Mustang is that it is a perfect example of how very little the actual guts of the basic Mustang hadn't changed much! I never saw an article that compared to an O.G. 1966 Mustang with that 200 six /C4 combo. I would guess that this one had the TRX wheels added on after the sale and there's no rear anti sway bar on the rear axel. If there IS an ASB on the rear axle, then that is a very rare and unusually equipped Mustang.
Deal of the year! My 65 Mustang had a 200 cid 6 cylinder, 120 horsepower with C4 automatic. Pretty loaded car with power brakes, steering and air conditioning. Not sure on horsepower of 82 200 cid but sure it's less than 120. Looks like a nice 40 year old Mustang to clean up and revive and make road worthy again! Can't wait to see next video on it!
Awesome Craig! The notchback foxbodies with the original taillights are one of the cars l would love to own and fix up if l could afford to. I look forward to taging along and watching you bring this car back to life! Great stuff Craig!
Ford used those indicator stalks with the horn button on the end for a number of years from the late 70’s through the 80’s. I’m not sure when they stopped using them, but I did own an Australian 1987 Falcon that had it.
Nice!!! I have a 85 Capri 5.0 bubble back was my dads now it’s mine. It’s been “up bagged” to an RS. Watching you with these cars has been the best ! Sadly it’s a brick right now because the computer is fried but maybe you’ve sparked something for me to get it on the road! It’s been sitting for at least6 years now
I have driven quite a few Fox body 5.0 Mustangs, but I have never owned one. I've been dying to own one lately. I have a 1997 Honda Civic coupe that has a big turbo fully built LSVTEC in it that makes 709 whp, but I have been wanting a few different domestic chassis lately and a Fox body is high on that list...or an older Cutlass. Still, a Fox body with a 390 FE or a fuel injected 351 in a 90-93 GT coupe would be AWESOME. I saw one Fox Body Saleen edition convertible in Florida and it was so sexy. I have always wanted to get a clean 90-93 Fox body, build a forged and stroked fuel injected cammed 351, and put a big On3 Performance turbo on it. Nothing full on crazy, but something that's fun to drive on the street that can handle the power and rip.
This build is gonna be fricking crazy my first car was a 82’ fox never got to finish it because of life but I can’t wait to see how this fox turns out 🤙🏻🤘🏻
The possum was funny. Those flat tires are not! Coker tires makes repops of those Michelin trx tires but they are no cheaper today than they were when the car was new. In the 500 dollar range last I checked for my 83 Capri RS! But they are a really cool nostalgic combination nowadays. Cheers on scoring that fairly original beauty! 👍👍👍
I owned two 5.0 Pace Cars from 1987 to 1991. 2nd one needed more work than I had $$ for so I sold it to a guy in Wisconsin. I’ve wanted to find a 80/81 V8 Cobra that didn’t have a T-top but they are very very rare. Otherwise I’d love to find a 79-82 hatchback with the 200 inline 6. I hate the gutless 2.3. Thanks to Dennis Collins the market went crazy over any performance Foxbody which I can’t afford because of a 40 year battle with Lyme disease. Most everything here in Minnesota rusts.
Quick Crete does indeed harden when rained on, I had a bag in the back of my truck when I left for a trip and by the time i got back to it it was solid
Reaction to the older style dash, with fake wood, is hilarious. Was same as Fairmont's. Also, 1982 was last year for block letter 'FORD' badge, then put the Blue Oval on trunks. And, the grille isn't same as Capri, which was blunt nose. Mustangs are slanted, 1979-82
hey my mom had a 81 fairmont wagon same motor and the horn switch is the turn signal but you have to push inward of the turn lever to get the horn to work
So Jealous . My first car when I was 16 (now 44) was a 82 gl notch mustang. I v8 swapped it at 16. Drove it for years . They are almost impossible to find now that’s not gutted or rotted out with rust. If money wasn’t tight right now I’d offer you good money for it. Subscribed and looking forward to see what you do with it
So the way the concrete thing works is that like if you have a pile of dry quick Crete and it gets rained on it won’t hard. What makes quick Crete concrete is the mixing of the quick Crete with water. You need a nice thorough mix and consistency like mud for it to be formable and curable. If you don’t get a good mix it’ll just remain powdery when it dries or be hella easy to chip and crack
Called the "Egg crate" grill. Love them too ! These were the most modern looking cars of the time (1979). I lived it as a 10 year old never seeing anything like it before ! GM was popular as ever with the Smoky & The Bandit Trans Am that I love, but Camaro/firebirds were on a tired old platform. Chrysler had a sad Aspen/Volare stickered RT version with a 360 on a sled body. TMI... Honestly love seeing all the cars above at a show...
Ive had a couple of these, two 85's and an 86 svo.. i'm assuming that's the 2.3 pinto motor and it's 80hp of glory.. those trx wheels are cool but hard to get tires for..
baildriv1 A friend of mine has a triple black 1982 Mustang GT Covert. 302/5 speed. There's a sticker on the radiator support that says it's 1 of 1000 something. When he got it the po had rattle caned it red.
A guy I knew had one of these got it from a guy at a shoe store in sapulpa Oklahoma back in like 95, that car ran like a charm until he went to prison. Idk what happened to that car after that. Automatic, 200 cube, burgundy, direct drive fan...it ran like a sewing machine.
Cant wait to see more of the 82 mustang i have a one barrel carb for one of them engines let me know if you want it ill send it out properly going to need rebuild or use for parts let me know thanks

I ended up rolling it 3 times and it was cooked after that but had many wild adventures in that car.
Cut the head .060",cut the log for a 32/30 weber or an autolite 2100(heads I build take both),put headers on it and drive when gas prices are stupid. My effie FE bumps all hold more than 50 gals,so I'm in my 20mpg city '62 ;chero.
Nice , maybe a built 4.0 from a ranger or an ecoboost 4 cyl and a 5speed for autocross ? Just thoughts , I enjoy the channel I haven't been here in years .
Also, when I was a kid my aunt had a late 70s Mustang II with a 2.3 four cylinder (88 HP) and C3 automatic and I hated it. It was the ugliest car I had ever seen. Even the 302 V8 only made like 157 HP in that era...it was fugly. She got rid of it when it was infested with mice and they chewed through the floor boards (or rust) and chewed all the engine wiring...lmao

I have that same motor in my 64 Falcon, 3 carbs, big cam, T-5 trans. It has more than 85 HP
The horn button is on the end of the blinker lever, "The More You Know" , that's crazy who stores a car for 32 years , and then jest's gives it away ? Craig you just scored
Same as old English cars
Yea the original owner was declining In health so they wanted to see the car go to a good home. I couldn’t just let it go to waste.
Came here to say the same.. ferd trying out some European ques... didn't last too long

Those original trx wheels are 390mm and basically impossible to find tires for. Lmr sells a repo set but in 16s that look nice.
To use the horn you have to push the turn signal level in . I love the old 4 eyes!! look on the signal lever. You'll see a horn picture with an arrow pointing toward the steering column.

What sucks is they don't reproduce the 79-82 tail lights. I sold a broken set in ebay 3 months ago for $250

I’m so happy you got an older car!!! I love all your rigs but I can’t wait to see this one get some lovin!!!
I need to find a deal like that on a notch!

Sweet Fox. My buddies dad had a Indianapolis pace car I think it had t tops. Silver, black, and orange.

Free is always good. I had a 1980 notch back with a 351w swap back in the early 90s. Super fun car. Can't wait to see what you do with it. 👊
Had a 79 notch back. 200 and a C4. Drove the snot out of it .paid 100$ for it, and put close to 100,000 on it. Good little beater.
Super excited to see the progress on this car I had a 1980 that I put a 351w and a t5 in

It certainly will dry hard if it gets rained on. Heck a bag will get hard if left in a damp shop over time.
What a fucking cool find. Love all the old options and paperwork found. It’s funny one man’s trash is truly another treasure
Mt brothers 80 Cobra looks similar inside...same warning light around lil car. 260 V8. He always hated the wierd size Michalan tires.
I love those earlier years, just something about the square lights and black around the headlights.
Love the early 80 front grill
Called the "Egg crate" grill. Love them too ! These were the most modern looking cars of the time (1979). I lived it as a 10 year old never seeing anything like it before ! 😄 opossums aren't mean, like at all. You can literally grab them and pet them.
I bet the build sheet is under the back seat. Sometime you have look for it after the bottom seat cushion is out.
That interior & steering wheel is bitchin
I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on this one for sure.
Nice car. I have a 79 mustang ghia coupe. It belonged to my grandpa before he passed away last summer.
shoulda got kevin from junkyard dig’s help removing that possum. he’s got some experience with that 😂
Ive had a couple of these, two 85's and an 86 svo.. i'm assuming that's the 2.3 pinto motor and it's 80hp of glory.. those trx wheels are cool but hard to get tires for..
Incredible score man! Good video as well.
Came from Junkyard Digs, staying for this car/series!
That interior looks just like my 79 did even the steering wheel but I had the black dash with no wood grain
Got that possum tune going in the Fox
Really sweet for free. Wheels are probably TRX, good luck with those tires!
Great video Craig. I love that Fox!!!
Reminds me of the junkyard diggs revival with the possum!!!
Possum is the perfect name for a sleaper put a 351 Clevland in this and it will be a cool sleeper
Congratulations, I have an '82 GT I'm working on. Horn is in turn signal arm. Push in towards column.
baildriv1 A friend of mine has a triple black 1982 Mustang GT Covert.
What I remember , at the time Michelin was the only supplier of those tires ... oddball metric specs ...
Cant wait to see more of the 82 mustang i have a one barrel carb for one of them engines let me know if you want it ill send it out properly going to need rebuild or use for parts let me know thanks
I can see you doing the power tour in this next year. Or is it the possum tour? lol
Here b4 a million 🤘
Late to the series glad to be here!
There should be a rpm switch behind the gauge to switch the rmp from 6 to v8 rpm
Lol you can still buy the door key and tumbler sets for like 50 bucks... Oval key for the blue oval...
Yes quickcreate will dry from being rained on. dries into a useless 50 pound brick
my bronco ii has that screen that lets you know you're low on fuel or if there are doors open i didnt even know they put those in mustangs interesting
I had one of these. It was a 2.3 L Turbo.. miss that car some kind of bad
Badass car, being a complete and all original 82 in great shape with moderately low mileage (for it's age) you should restore it to OE specs so you can have an "original" classic Fox Body Mustang for the car shows you go to to check out other people's rides, this would fit right in restored,
8:54 possiums aren't mean they hiss but they don't bite they just do it to look tough but they don't carry rabbies or anything either.
“Leaf delete” 😂
Sooo excited to see another fox on the channel
I use to own a 1979 Mustang GT Cobra back in the 1990's it was dark green with black interior with a 302 and a top loader 4 speed I blew the 302 up quick and put a done up 351 windsor in it and that thing hauled ass. I ended up rolling it 3 times and it was cooked after that but had many wild adventures in that car.
Reminds me of an old k car!! I love it!!
Kat if u don't want it send it to me LMAO... sweet ride I'm still looking for a 4 eyed foxbody.
Just so you know, the horn button is not in the center of the steering wheel. It is on the turn signal switch (you push it into the column)
1982 trim levels: L, GL, GLX, and GT [with std 302]
Dude please make a possum body t-shirt lol I need that in my life. You should also Leave the paint the way it is cuz it looks like a possum lol
Looking forward to the big fix videos 🇬🇧🧐🥇🔥🥳👏👍⚡️
I look forward to the next video!
FYI the horn works by pushing in on the turn signal lever
Cut the head .060",cut the log for a 32/30 weber or an autolite 2100(heads I build take both),put headers on it and drive when gas prices are stupid. My effie FE bumps all hold more than 50 gals,so I'm in my 20mpg city '62 ;chero.
Nice , maybe a built 4.0 from a ranger or an ecoboost 4 cyl and a 5speed for autocross ? Just thoughts , I enjoy the channel I haven't been here in years .
Great video. Surprised you didn't crank her over but gonna be a great car for sure. Love these early foxes
A detailing video needs to be done on this car the engine bay would be a nice transformation for sure 👌🏻🤙🏻
Is the possum optional equipment?
Lol I wonder how many times Craig is gonna mistake his keys when he goes to drive one of the cars
TRX wheels are 15.3" and tires are not available. There was a GLX, the next trim level up.
What a find!!
You need a custom plate the says "Pawesome".
Doing the Bias Plies and Zip Ties Minty OK hand signs Gotta come out with a Craig Cali Minty sign Bud
eBay turbo kit on the 200 I-6!?
Was that a hasselbad camera?
Notch backs are awesome. They absolutely could have sold that. Fox bodies are starting to sky rocket in value.
