Did you remember who Arya’s “friend” is when she threaten’s the “fat boy”? That was King Robert’s bastard son that Ned visits at the blacksmith.
Yes, someone in my patreon mentioned that after I posted this, totally missed that, thanks for the extra reminder!
Jon can’t leave. Deserters are beheaded. Jon’s Night’s Watch brothers literally saved his life. Remember the 1st episode and Ned taking the head of that deserter? You have to take your oaths seriously.
Thank you
“As Daenerys Targaryen rose to her feet, her black hissed, pale smoke venting from its mouth and nostrils. The other two pulled away from her breasts and added their voices to the call, translucent wings unfolding and stirring the air, *_and for the first time in hundreds of years, the night came alive with the music of dragons._* ”
― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
Wow love that!
@@JakeReactsYTStart reading! The show leaves out much and more. Here's a challenge reaction for you to do that no one else new to ASOIAF has done on youtube: Buy AGOT and read out aloud a chapter, comparing and contrasting with the show. The novels are mammoth but most of the chapters are relatively short and written in POV format so that you can really get into their heads, what they are thinking, their motivations, their fears etc.
@@Hochspitz Ha "much and more".. as a fellow reader I appreciate that
"Rob, you've ruined your sword" is the saddest line of the show.
Yeah that was rough
I love the scenes with Varys and Littlefinger. As there are no POV-chapters these scenes are only in the show and both actors play their parts so well.
honestly they're so great
“Do you lay awake at night, fearing my gash?” Is my favourite line in the whole show 😂
Yes, Daenerys was born during a horrible storm in a little island called Dragonstone, a place you will soon meet.
Her mother died that day, the fleet loyal to her destroyed, and Viserys and her were smuggled to Essos
Thanks for the info! 🙂
"You will be my khalasar," she told them.
"I see the faces of slaves. I free you. Take off your collars. Go if you wish, no one shall harm you. If you stay, it will be as brothers and sisters, husbands and wives." The black eyes watched her, wary, expressionless.
"I see the children, women, the wrinkled faces of the aged. I was a child yesterday. Today I am a woman. Tomorrow I will be old. To each of you I say, give me your hands and your hearts, and there will always be a place for you." - Daenerys Targaryen
The final chapter for AGOT is truly otherworldly.
If Jon deserts the wall Robb will have to do his duty as King in the North and behead him, regardless of the fact that they're brothers
One thing I would like to comment on and I think there is no problem knowing is that Daenaerys in the books is not immune to fire, just as all Targaryens are not immune to fire. this is something completely invented by the series, Daenaerys leaving the funeral pyre without getting burned was an isolated magical moment just like the birth of dragons
Even in the books, she doesn't come out completely intact because her body hair was burned.
Very good to know thank you for sharing 😊
Her hair in general. But I doubt you are right, because in the books she gets “burned” later on again and she once again resists the fire. She ends up like in this chapter. I don’t remember how it happened exactly, but if you read the books, you should remember this. It happens in A Dance of Dragons, if I remember correctly
We were robbed of pixie cut Dany lol
3:22 The woman at the beginning carrying Bran will also appear in Harry Potter as Tonks in Order Of The Phoenix so look out for that 🤗
She is also in Hugh Grant's 2002 flick, About A Boy. A fun watch.
@@chefskiss6179yes! I had forgotten about that
GOT has some crazy highs and lows, but the connection we all feel with the characters and the show is so worth it!!❤
Yeah the connection I already had to Ned was insane! Never expected that tbh
I loved that you didn't put two and two together during season one and didn't even know about the dragons. Usually new reactors know they're gonna show up because of the popularity of the show, so it was very refreshing that it was such a surprise to you :)
Amazing reaction as always 🤗
There's also another reason why Dany was given eggs. Because her ancestors used to ride dragons. When one northern lord told Robb that they bowed to the dragons, it was both figuratively (Targaryens) and literally (dragons)
About Jaime telling Cat the truth of why he pushed Bran; if he says anything it means death for Joffrey, Myrcella, Tommen, Cersei and him. Cersei for infidelity and Jaime for treason(I think) Also it would put a stain on the Lannister name (the incest) The deaths might be horrendous too. Although since Robert and Ned are gone and nobody else knows, there’s no one to enforce such rules tbh
-Daenerys Stormborn because she was born during a very terrible storm
Ah that makes sense, I was wondering why he started telling her then stopped, thank you!
Agreed. The faith of the Seven (most popular religion in the realm) did not abide by incest. They put up with it with the Targaryens but no one else. The realm would not be ok with a queen who cheated on the King with her twin brother and then a bunch of children from that incest who tried to sneakily usurp the throne from the king
now is a perfect time to watch the season 1 histories and lore!!!!! you’re doing great!
The witch rocks! She's a heroine!
I agree! At no time was Drogo a good guy 😂 she did all that she could to avenge her family, priest and herself. She was brave!
After rewatching while editing I definitely give her the benefit of the doubt tbh
@@JakeReactsYT we do have the benefit of having watched the series a few times 😂😂😂
@@KellyHilgerRealtorand by avenging her family she pushed the story forward, making the dragons be born. As well as the wine merchant trying to poison Dany by order of king Bob made drogo pursue the iron chair
Sometimes good intentions may lead to catastrophic consequences
I never thought about it before, but now that you mentioned it, Samwell Tarly and Neville Longbottom do seem to have some parallels.
Haha that’s what I’m sayin! 😅
He had the bard's tongue cut out because his song about King Robert was disrespectful. The only redeeming quality about Joffery was the love for the King.
I think it's more to do with the "lion in his bed" line, the disrespect to House Lannister as well as the royal family in general.
GOT is like life, sometimes you are the bug and sometimes you are the windshield. But the ride is awesome no matter what. And generally what happens to you in the show is due to whatever good or bad decisions you made. subbed for the journey.
Glad you’re here for the journey! Appreciate you 😁
La mejor serie de todos los tiempos, aun te falta un largo camino...😂😂😂😂
Great review and reaction, as always. Goosebumps are fun! Thanks for your end discussion today. I have a first anniversary of loss this weekend and it’s painful. I will be well, same as you.❤
Thank you for your kind words, and for sharing that with me, take care of yourself. ❤️
he cut his tongue out because the song made fun of Roberts death.
The last paragraph from the book:
"As Daenerys Targaryen rose to her feet, her black hissed, pale smoke venting from its mouth
and nostrils. The other two pulled away from her breasts and added their voices to the call,
translucent wings unfolding and stirring the air, and for the first time in hundreds of years, the
night came alive with the music of dragons."
I hope doing these reactions brings you joy and helps with your journey of grief. This show definitely has its highs and lows, but I think you’ll find it an escorting and fun experience in the long run. Looking forward to more!
I do enjoy reacting! I love creating, even if it’s just commentary. Thanks for being here, appreciate you!
please! react to the special called "history and lore" from the first season, you don't need to worry about copyright because these special episodes of each season do not have copyright on them, so you can post your complete reaction on UA-cam without any problems, the special from The first season can easily be found to watch full on UA-cam.
I think this would be especially important to understand the lore behind the show without needing comments from people explaining the lore to you and often saying more than they should
Already reacted to it! It will be up next week 😁
All works are copyrighted (by default) but the copyright over history and lore is less enforced. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
The dragons definitely will eventually grow big
There are so many goosebump moments in this show, on to season 2!
GoT is a friggin rollercoaster!!! We lose Ned, but gain Dragons.
One of the things you'll grow to love about this series is that almost none of the characters are purely good or evil. They might not all have good excuses for the choices they make, but you can see their reasoning behind why they are way that they are. You'll absolutely despise a character one season, and be all in for their death, and then find them growing on you the next season and be hoping against hope that they don't get killed. You'll root for someone and overlook their questionable decisions because you've seen them struggle and believe in their cause. It's wild and breath taking. And don't even get me started on the brilliant use of symbolism and word-play..... buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride, friend!
"As Daenerys rose to her feet, her black hissed, pale smoke venting from its mouth and nostrils. “Only me” Jaime has some of my favorite dialogue
Of all the many times I have re-watched GoT, it is S1 that I watch the most because there are so many easter eggs about how the story should end. Almost every bit of dialogue is important, every introduced character is important to a greater or lesser degree although the show does leave out some, imo, other important characters or here and there a name is just mentioned. Anyway, the first time you watch it is practically impossible to remember all the names and pick up on all that is being said or implied.
Being an intelligent reactor, you should definitely watch the history and lore after each season. These will give you a lot of context.
nice reaction as always :)
HELLO! Jake, YT dropped your channel into my feed this morning for GoT 1x 10. I watched you and admired your comments and your curiosity of the dialogues. No brainer to sub and can't wait to watch this FANTASTIC series ever made, through your eyes. If you don't have a moderator to keep spoilers away from the comment section, please get one. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for your kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed! Hope to see you here for the rest of the show 😁
Dragons! 🐉
fire and blood are the house words of house Targaryen. also in the book Dany’s hair burns off too
Oooh those are good words for them haha
Other people have already said much of what there was to say in this episode, but I would like to take a moment and talk about Grand Maester Pycelle.
I would have to disagree with you: he was definitely saying some very important things, although his tone makes it seem like he's rambling.
So here is a transcript:
Grand Maester Pycelle : Kings? I can tell you all there is to know about kings. The thing you need to understand about kings: in the past 67 years, I have known - truly known - more kings than any man alive. They're complicated men, but I know how to serve them. Yes. And keep on serving them.
[Pycelle coughs]
Grand Maester Pycelle : Aerys Targaryen... of all the thousand thousand maladies the gods visit on us, madness is the worst. He was a good man, such a charmer. To watch him melt away before my eyes, consumed by dreams of fire and blood...
[Ros stands in front of sink, washing herself]
Grand Maester Pycelle : Robert Baratheon was entirely different animal: powerful man, a great warrior. But, alas, winning a kingdom and ruling a kingdom are rather different things.
[Pycelle chuckles]
Grand Maester Pycelle : They say that if a man goes through life with his battle visor down, he can often be blind to enemies at his side.
[Pycelle coughs]
Grand Maester Pycelle : Now I serve his son, king Joffrey, may the gods bless his reign. He's a capable young man...
[Ros dresses]
Grand Maester Pycelle : ...strong military mind, stern - but sterness in defence of the realm is no vice.
[Pycelle coughs]
Grand Maester Pycelle : It's far too soon to know what manner of king he will be, but I sense true greatness on the horizon for our new king. True greatness.
Now what do you think?
Yeah, absolutely. Most reactors seem to miss this. It's very interesting how people pay more attention to the presentation than the substance.
Love your reactions, Jake! You're very switched on to what's going on all the time ... but be prepared to have your opinions of some characters challenged, as they change and develop through the seasons 😉
Oh, and please cut Sansa a little slack, she's just a girl. A silly, spoilt girl with romantic notions of becoming a princess, for sure ... but still just a girl, and caught in a web with the most vicious people imaginable surrounding her, no family (or even her nurse any more) around her, and they just chopped her beloved father's head off! Remember all this when you see how she behaves in future episodes 😉
No dragons.
Just entire magical civilization which's collapsed around 400 years prior to the events of what you're watching now with Targaryen's being the only survivors.
And the story of Aegon you've probably heard. And a giant scull of a dragon where Arya had to hide from Varys and Illyrio.
And all in all constant talk about the westerosi history throughout 1st season and the freaking throne melted together with actual dragon fire.
Haha I meant dragons in this timeline 😅 I knew they existed in this universe, The eggs were a great reminder of that constantly 😋
@@JakeReactsYT you’ll have to watch histories and lore now :)
It’s kinda “a must do” after each season is finished.
Although, frankly, you can binge through the one that is made for the 2d season also. Nothing spoilery whatsoever.
The only parts of histories and lore videos that are extremely spoilery - the dance of dragons chapters. Cause it’d basically spoil the whole HOTD series for you.
@@senior_comrade8401 I already reacted to the first one, it’ll be up next week! And oh thanks for letting me know about spoilers! Appreciate that
Recommend you finish Harry Potter before you go further into Game of Thrones!
