I remember you guys mentioning once in a podcast that it was really difficult to make Magic an entertaining game to watch, because it required too much interface to keep the audience engaged, or something like that. I understand that we didn't get to see what your hands were at all times, but I think this format is done really well, and was very entertaining. Other channels could learn from this.
We've certainly spent a couple of years in the tank thinking about how we'd go about making it entertaining - and it definitely is still a challenge. The multiplayer format lends a lot to helping it become entertaining - it's always fun seeing more than 2 players banter back and forth about a decision, or when something affects multiple people instead of just one. by far the best live content online. the fact that you only go over only what is inportant, switch between players and board makes it easy to follow and make it feel like a grand epic story instead of just a game and finaly the graphics make things simple to follow as well as looking clean. thank you for the entertainment and have a good day. :)

How long does it take to edit the two games? The editing makes it so fun to watch, and I learn a lot of new combos, which isn't always the best because I already beat my friends 90% of the time haha

Rewatching this episode and it ages well, the production value is so different from today but the goofy "bloopers" and extra clips really made me remember why I love this series.
The editing is so well done, I REALLY enjoyed watching it. Felt like something you pay for.

This video inspired me to build Sram. It's less voltron and more bad storm/Krark Clan IronWorks-Walking Ballista hijinks, but what a deck. Most fun I've had in ages with a new deck. Great videos. Love watching every single one.

Years passed and this one is still so entertaining to watch. The lighter setting, optimal length and the commentary when you go sit 2 by 2, that’s so cool.

Game Knights #4 was the best episode of the series for me. It's getting better and better each episode and it's awesome! The Rishkar and Sram decks were both cool and wanted to build them. I hope to see the Prof join in as well in the future. More power to you Josh and Jimmy! You guys are the best!

Great episode! I was skeptical of the hyper edited format as I worried games would be too sped up for me to watch them develop and to see all the juicy detail. Out of the box had this problem as most of it was people describing the games in broad terms instead of actually seeing the turns. Episode 3 & 4 both helped assuage my fears. Both games this episode were dynamic and intense and we saw them in depth but not slow paced.
I agree. Out of the Box was our first shot and we learned a lot based upon feedback and our own reflection. I'll also say we had to do Out of the Box very quickly so that was a contributing factor as well. One thing we always pride ourselves on is continued improvement and evolution. We hope each episode of Game Knights is a step up from the last. Thanks for your thoughts and comments - they do very much help.
Still in 2020 this holds the title as one of my top 3 favorite episodes.

We decided very early on that playing Baral would not lead to a fun episode for viewers, or ourselves as players, since his entire ability is centered around counter-magic. We wanted to make the best episode for you all to watch, so we decided to play the other commanders instead :)
Baral is not only worse game play, but has the worst chance of winning. Counterspell centric decks generally don't win commander games, they either slow the game down to a crawl and draw all the aggro, or they keep one person from playing, and both are bad on camera, and neither path leads to victory.
Best way to watch paper magic on youtube. You showed all the cards, had commentary, talked about mechanics. Really enjoyed this video!

I really thank you for that,Blue is not fun to play against, I say similar words to what WotC said when banning second sunrise.... It's not interactive,and goes against a fluid MTG game,when you play 3 spells in your turn and everyone gets counter,it's demoralizing,I rather get my things killed,than countered

This is an awesome series--the editing is tight and makes what was a long game into something I could watch over lunch. I also like having themes/restrictions on the decks, so I see more cards that I typically wouldn't see in play. Thanks for your hard work, everyone!

@The Command Zone you guys should get Sean Plott aka [Day 9] from the UA-cam show "Spellslingers" on this show, he's a Magic player and is a really fun guy, and it would make for a great episode. Chris Kluwe, former punter for the Minnesota Vikings also plays Magic and is a very formidable Magic player, and would be a worthy Game Knights opponent, maybe try and get him on too. Also, I understand these episodes are hard to make, but it'd be great to have these episodes come out more often, anyway, I hope you read this comment and keep up the great content you guys!

Going through and rewatching this series while building my own commander decks, just listening in the background mostly, when all of the sudden at 24:51 I just hear "SWAMP ASS" and was so taken aback lmao. Never heard anyone so enthusiastic about Swamp Ass so I had to go back and rewatch it, Swamp Pass

Coming from someone that loves his Gruul Werewolves and Boros Vehicles, there is nothing more satisfying that just going "Fukkit! Flunge!" and it being a fatal attack. I felt a real connection with Josh during that last attack.

Jimmy jokes about Ragavan but Ragavan took it personal and after four years, he destroyed all formats except vintage. I think he were given advise by Tibalt who does same with his trickery.

Just started playing about a month ago and this video, this video was freaking epic. Leagues above any other EDH series on UA-cam, I was hooked. You guys rock with your video editing and I just wanna say I may start looking into more diverse deck styles because of this video. Amazing work
