Jeremy, an idea... 4 persons. Person 1 chooses a colour combination, tells Persons 2 and 3. Person 2 selects the commander. Person 3 makes the deck Person 4 plays the deck. Persons 2, 3 and 4 CANNOT speak to each other.
The old 1v1’s are still spectacular as well. Darby kinda grew on me, and the rare chance you see Justin and Mr. Green play together is always a treat. Plus all their, like, Pandemic episodes; idk, they play the best commander on the internet.
Balan is a female character. From the product page: "A solitary leonin knight, who loves the thrill of being the wandering hero. She'll pounce into battle to defend the innocent or slay an evil beast. She has many a tale of adventure, and will happily share them if there's a crackling fire and warm drink involved."
(Director Kyle) Hey everyone! I'm sorry about the missing decklists this week! Between being ill for most of the week and Roanoke getting hit with snow, some items seemed to have fallen through the cracks and I apologize for the inconvenience. Anyway, decklists are here: www.starcitygames.com/article/36479_Commander-VS-Season-10-Begins.html
A thing which happens because he plays with a set group of people who all know that if left unchecked, he wins. And thus when he hits his explosive turn, that is the trigger for 'ok time to knock him out of the game". The fault you reference "Oh great another time when Jeremy doesn't get to do anything.." is not the fault of the people he plays with, it lays with him. He either needs to learn how to have an semi-explosive turn without triggering everyones "Omg time to stop him!" or have protection from 'omg everyone is going to stop me if I have this explosive turn!' ready before he takes it. If its happen so often that you can make as vague a reference as you did too it..yup, its on him, not the people playing with him. Granted, I also read Jeremy as the kind of player who enjoys having big explosive turns and, even if they then lose him the game, he got what we wanted out of the game/the deck he was playing. Ala "I played Villianous wealth for a bunch! I didn't win but man playing that card was sweet!" is essentially a victory for him, except of course instead of just playing friendly commander games, they have a point-system. Which, bias's people's opinions of these games to a great degree. If everyone at the table had fun, and then someone won..who cares what the order is! That's the whole point of this kind of magic, its not competitive pro-level stuff..its kitchen table magic, all be it with lots of powerful cards. I know plenty of people like the point-system and season winner and whatever, that's fine. But don't let that lead you into viewing this as all or nothing which the point-system tends to lead people to think. While meanwhile the people playing/the nature of what they are doing leads itself to good natured fun. Where who the winner is important right up until someone wins..then man I had a sweet turn, man my deck preformed well, I can't believe it was so close, yah lets play again!...where as "I beat you all ha ha!" is no where to be found in the dialog outside of an eye-rolling/ friendly trash talking context.
The hushed “hail hydra” at the beginning killed me 😂😂 Soo glad we get another season of this. The intro was a whole lot better then the old card just flipping. To show who was playing what commander.
I have been waiting for this...missed you guys...the bickering between Stephen and Justin just makes my day. (Im gonna play Kamagawa block-Stephen, Well I hate you-Justin).
it seems like target priority was horrible for John Suarez with his artifact and permanent destruction since Stephen Green was given a pass for almost the entire game to do whatever he wanted for the entire game.
Stephen shouldn't have drawn a card at 42:25. His Sword's target was no longer there, and therefore he doesn't get the draw. Minuscule ruling, but still one none-the-less.
STEPHEN GREEN YOU BEAUTIFUL MAN. This game was an absolute delight. I've been playing a mono white voltron deck for a while and when Balan was printed she went immediately into my Sram deck. Seeing two people die to commander damage was amazing. #TEAMGREENFORLIFE
Idea for commander theme: "Impossible Commanders" not sure who to pick for the fourth commander but three of them would be Phage, Haakon, and Mishra... seems like a fun idea
I love all these commander! I have a Rishkar CMDR deck that works/combos really well in my meta and I'm looking to make a Yahenni deck (although Grave Pact is kinda pricey). I have a casual Ghave deck that works really well but it's not getting enough love atm. Now I'm torn between making it an Atraxa or Ramos deck. Very good game guys!!
Very nice work, especially from Stephen this game. If possible, I would love to see someone play Triad of Fates as a commander. They may be slower than a typical flicker deck, but I have a blast everytime I play them and would love to see your take on them.
Btw, for everyone saying Balan shouldn’t have died to Damnation; Justin created created two sacrifice triggers with Butcher of Malakir. One from sacrificing to Yahenni and one from Butcher dying to Damnation. Stephen had only two creatures and thus had to sacrifice Balan, despite the indestructible.
I was pretty disappointed when Jeremy didn't make as much of an impact in the game as I hoped. But kudos for getting in Progenitus for free. I've been watching VS Commander for a long time now and I gotta say I love watching you guys play.
Suggestion for a theme! Must win the game with an alternate win condition (ie. maze's end, mortal combat, darksteel reactor, etc)! To incentivize this, maybe change the rules temporarily so that if you kill someone with dmg, you lose a point instead of gain one.
Couldn't Jeremy just used Ramos Mana + the one he had left to play Sunbird's Invocation + the alternate cost for the Bringer, get a 7 Trigger from Invoc. and find something better?
Justin: What's your opinion on Vona's Hunger in EDH? Jeremy: I wanted, so badly, for you to get down the Sunbird's Invocation before Progenitus came down. Great episode, guys!
(Jeremy) Me too. I've become too trigger shy with Sunbird's. I have like 3-4 games on here and in my stream where I died the turn after I played it. :(
I think Vona's Hunger is very good, but a dangerous card. It puts a target on you in future games when players know you have it. It's kind of like a bad Cylonic Rift, but you can get attacked back immediately.
That is a really good way to look at it. I pulled it as my promo foil during the prerelease, and when I cast it, it turned the game around for me. Been debating if I want to put it in my Ghoulcaller Gisa deck or get rid of it at some point. Thanks for the input!
It would be kinda cool if they made commander decks with legendary enchantments as the generals. They already did that with artifacts and non-commander set planeswalkers (like teferi, temporal arch age, I mean), it’s only the next step lol
1:17:03 Why doesn't Stephen equip everything to Balan and then attack with her?? Jonathan has 10 blocking power (after Soul of the Harvest gets destroyed from Argentum Armor trigger). Balan would have been a 15/15 doublestrike/trample/vigilance/haste so even with both creatures blocking Jonathan would have taken 5 from Balan's first hit, triggering Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of War and Peace and Mask of Memory. And then 15 from the second hit triggering those equipment again. Now he's at 20 commander damage, all of his creatures are dead, Stephen draws 6 and discards 2, gains 18 life, deals 4 damage to Jonathan and deals 18 damage to . . . . actually i think that's game. that is exactly enough to take Jonathan to 0 life.
I think that John could've saved Jeremy if he returned Beast Within with Den Protector and destroyed the sword of fire and ice. This would allow Jeremy to block with Progenitus and survive the combat step.
Random theme idea. To to edhrec and hit the random commander button and build a deck around that or have everyone do that twice and put them in the randamonium
Guess whos back, back again, stephens back, mill a friend
We're not friends.
Catchy tune though
but stephen is a one in a MILLion magic player
liam blue do you know the original song?
Owen Parker Eminem’s parody is the one I know
Jeremy, an idea...
4 persons.

Person 3 makes the deck
Person 4 plays the deck.
Persons 2, 3 and 4 CANNOT speak to each other.
(Jeremy) We usually let Susan decide these sorts of things, but I like the idea. I'll bring it up.
Star City Games Did you guys ever do this? I'd love to know what episode it was if you did
Kastor
Breaking up the silence of two years, enjoying the golden years of commander vs
I feel you on that.
While I still love (SCG) Commander Vs the first couple chapters of the channel were so “gonzo” and almost sitcom-like.
The old 1v1’s are still spectacular as well. Darby kinda grew on me, and the rare chance you see Justin and Mr. Green play together is always a treat. Plus all their, like, Pandemic episodes; idk, they play the best commander on the internet.
Commander VS and Command Zone game uploads on the same day? I've never been so happy to be sick from work!

Ada Bee wait, seriously? Balans a girl?
According to the lore, yes.
Awesome
Cat girl...giggity

Awesome Director Kyle West!
In standard Commander Vs fashion, Jeremy gets one explosive turn and then gets blown off the table before he gets to actually impact the game.
gets a whole bunch of stuff via ramos
get killed by an angry cat before he gets to do anything
Bit of a bummer to watch
A thing which happens because he plays with a set group of people who all know that if left unchecked, he wins. And thus when he hits his explosive turn, that is the trigger for 'ok time to knock him out of the game".

Well his deckbuilding is also a big reason, I hope he doesn't expect to win this way.
Why couldn't he block with Progenitus?
I was just wondering like an hour ago when season 10 was gonna start! Easily my favorite MTG series on youtube. Please never stop this series.
we still going
So glad the season has started. This makes my Wednesdays. However, I feel really bad for Jeremy... He has the worst luck.
And immediately the Stephen/Justin rivalry begins again.
#TeamStephan
@@somethinghippos 1) #TeamGreen* 2) Stephen*
1:10:55 why does Balan die to Damnation? She is equipped with a Darksteel Plate.
Was wondering the same thing! Probably a small mistake :) even if it didn't matter at the end haha
15:09 game play begins
But then people miss the new intro
Then you miss the greatest part of the video. Their banter.
Brian Okafor e
The hushed “hail hydra” at the beginning killed me 😂😂
Soo glad we get another season of this. The intro was a whole lot better then the old card just flipping. To show who was playing what commander.
I have been waiting for this...missed you guys...the bickering between Stephen and Justin just makes my day. (Im gonna play Kamagawa block-Stephen, Well I hate you-Justin).
I like the new intro, but miss the old music theme.
Camilo Hurtado my thoughts exactly.
I kniw the filling ive been here since danny and mcdarby i loved the music
I still want the Fuller house intro.
I couldn't have said it better.
I stepped away to get a drink of water and thought an ad had started when I heard the new music....
I was so ready to tap my fingers to intro's music, but they crushed my dreams.
Loved the new intro! GG Director Kyle!
And Sad start for team Justin but I believe in you!❤️❤️
I love how Jonathan watch Stephen kill someone, brings back Beast Within, and then refuses to deal with anything Stephen had going on.
Well he was think about the hex proof but he could hit any Equipment
it seems like target priority was horrible for John Suarez with his artifact and permanent destruction since Stephen Green was given a pass for almost the entire game to do whatever he wanted for the entire game.
Exactly, he was so focused on Justin's board state he totally ignored how ridiculous Stephen's was getting. Tsk tsk Jonathan.
It's a wild life
Best gameplay videos on UA-cam! Team Parnell all the way 😆
Ramos round 2. I'm on #TeamNoell this week!
Edit: New intro is pretty good! I like the faces with the deck's General in the background.
Stephen shouldn't have drawn a card at 42:25. His Sword's target was no longer there, and therefore he doesn't get the draw. Minuscule ruling, but still one none-the-less.
Can you post a link for decklists?
My momma always said the more you rub it, the bigger and more red it gets. She ain't wrong.
Good to see you boys again! Love this show ☺
STEPHEN GREEN YOU BEAUTIFUL MAN. This game was an absolute delight. I've been playing a mono white voltron deck for a while and when Balan was printed she went immediately into my Sram deck. Seeing two people die to commander damage was amazing. #TEAMGREENFORLIFE
LOL I did the same with my Sram deck, Balan is Ballin:P
Mr. Mammuthus Africanavus Balan is quite ballin. 😎
Stephen Green you are my hero!! Officially team Green for life!!!!!!
What a start! Good job Stephen Green! Now if we could have the 4-way mill episode (somehow in different colors) that'd be great ;3
OMG, The new intro! Green looks like he just turned to face the camera at the beginning of an episode of Full House.
Ok that new player intro is dope!
Glad to comment on episode 1 of season 10. Really appreciate the content, keep it up!
Like the new graphic for displaying what Commander you are using.
Like the new Intro guys. The full picture is nice. I think the music is less "fight" music but still good.
Love Stephen complaining about drawing the few lands in his deck... with a Scroll Rack in play he never uses. =D
Y'all should do pauper commander again! That was super fun! Also go Team Suarez!
Very nice work, especially from Stephen this game. If possible, I would love to see someone play Triad of Fates as a commander. They may be slower than a typical flicker deck, but I have a blast everytime I play them and would love to see your take on them.
No decklists makes me cry :'(
Btw, for everyone saying Balan shouldn’t have died to Damnation; Justin created created two sacrifice triggers with Butcher of Malakir. One from sacrificing to Yahenni and one from Butcher dying to Damnation. Stephen had only two creatures and thus had to sacrifice Balan, despite the indestructible.
I've finally caught up to this episode, and I don't normally comment on anything, but that intro was dope!
That subtle Chick-fil-a plug. I see you Stephen Green making that side money.
I was pretty disappointed when Jeremy didn't make as much of an impact in the game as I hoped. But kudos for getting in Progenitus for free. I've been watching VS Commander for a long time now and I gotta say I love watching you guys play.
Love that you guys are back! I wanna see the decklists. Think you can update those? :)
Should also do an episode every once in awhile that is the fifth legends of a cycle that you didn't play.
With Duel Decks coming to an end you guys should do a Duel Deck Challenge. You can make decks using only cards that were printed in Duel Decks
I like'd, commented, shared, and re-subscribed from the very beginning! #season10hype
You're doing a great job
So great you guys are back, best show by far on youtube! Keep rocking!
Jeremy Noell my favorite underdog.
Suggestion for a theme! Must win the game with an alternate win condition (ie. maze's end, mortal combat, darksteel reactor, etc)! To incentivize this, maybe change the rules temporarily so that if you kill someone with dmg, you lose a point instead of gain one.
That's boring. Oloro with Felidar Guardian, infinite mana into Helix Pinnacle etc.
You guys should build the legendary flip enchantments from rivals of ixalan as generals.
I watched this commander video a couple of times and its definitely one of my favorites.
So THATS what director kyle west looks like
Couldn't Jeremy just used Ramos Mana + the one he had left to play Sunbird's Invocation + the alternate cost for the Bringer, get a 7 Trigger from Invoc. and find something better?
How you can tell you’re a MTG Youth: Jeremy plays a creature with the Bringer creature type and confuses the hell out of you.
Man I missed you guys. Perfect time to return to this after a stressful day of work!
#TeamParnell #BluePlaymat #BlackManaMatters #YahenniOrBust
DAT NEW INTRO THOUGH!
Oh baby that new intro is awesome
Edit: That #TeamGreen win was epic.
DAT INTRO! Sweet! Like the old a bit better, but this one is awesome too
So I guess we're best friends now? #TeamGreen
Back for season 10! Missed these guys over the break.
I feel as though Justin could have stabilised with grave pact being tutored over damnation. Then just sacing every time Stephen attacked with ashnods
It is a "target on your head" card, but damn, do I want to see it do some work.
That is a really good way to look at it. I pulled it as my promo foil during the prerelease, and when I cast it, it turned the game around for me. Been debating if I want to put it in my Ghoulcaller Gisa deck or get rid of it at some point. Thanks for the input!
@37:11 Stephen still not reading his cards. Teferi's Protection exiles itself upon resolution.
It would be kinda cool if they made commander decks with legendary enchantments as the generals. They already did that with artifacts and non-commander set planeswalkers (like teferi, temporal arch age, I mean), it’s only the next step lol
Miss you a lot guys!!! so awesome you're back! :D
Okay, right off the bat, I LOVE the new opening cinema.

Not that is seems to matter to the point i'm at in the video, but Mr. Green missed an argentum armor trigger when he attacked to kill justin
well if i had waited 15 seconds to comment,I would have heard Stephen call that out himself...
Yes! This is one of my favorite series on UA-cam!
Can we see a game with Tariel, reckoner of souls? Thanks! Keep up the good work!
Does Indestructible not protect from wrath effects? Justin used Black Sun and Balan had Darksteel Plate equipped.
Jeremy you messed up you cast the one card for alternate mana cost and only added one counter to ramos where you were supposed to add 5
Awesome to see you guys back!!! keep up the great games guys!!!
Holy crap that nee opener is amazing!! Keep up the awwsome fun guys!!
Count on your fingers in binary, where each finger represents 1 or 0 for 2 to the power of that fingers normal number.
Stephen missed triggers when he killed Jeremy? Jeremy blocked & the second hit from double strike was the lethal damage.
I really want to see someone play Thromok the insatiable. Probably Steven Green but he's a fun commander to mess with
There is a 0% chance Star City Games makes money from these videos. So just like most game stores they do it because they want to.
@1:05:10 Jon forgot to put a +1/+1 counter on Den Protector when he megamorphed it.
Maybe I missed something but why does Balan die when Justin played Damnation at 1:10:30? Wasn't Darksteel Plate attach to it?
I think that John could've saved Jeremy if he returned Beast Within with Den Protector and destroyed the sword of fire and ice. This would allow Jeremy to block with Progenitus and survive the combat step.
Random theme idea. To to edhrec and hit the random commander button and build a deck around that or have everyone do that twice and put them in the randamonium
i love the new intro, but i miss the old music, speeking of which what was the name of the song that was used for the old intro
Great episode!!! Voltron for the win!!! Still gonna push to have Jeremy play my deck for season finale #PlaymydeckJeremy
I like how for most of the video Justin sat at 20 commander damage
Only the last point counts!
Arcbound Ravager + animation module may be some looking into it's a fairly broken combo is done right
question: had jeremy blocked the last attack with progenitus, what would have happened?
I love this series. Keep it up, don’t stop!
Love the new transition to gameplay!
Just as a PSA, even if Bringer of the Blue Dawn is cast using its alternative cost, Ramos, Dragon Engine only gets one counter.
#teamgreen Stephen took over this game man! I personally dnt like voltron but stephen is is hilarous good content y'all!
I haven’t finished the video before commenting so I might eat my words; I hope justins deck has Vona’s Hunger!
As somebody who has played against Justin's yahenni deck, I can say it gets very scary very fast...
Justin should ask Stephen if they are "friends" Tomer/SaffronOlive style....
Long Live Tomer's Edric deck:P
Why not have a score summary at the end of the video? do it in post!
Great to see my boy, Esteban, take home a win this video. #teamgreen
New commander intro thingy is pretty cool
I built Balan the day the cat deck came out and it tends to make my play group sour. He is so strong.
erata: teferi's protection only lasts for as long as you can hold your breath
It gives the caster "protection from everything" including asphyxiation. You could shoot them, or stab them, and they'd still be fine.
I consider the beginning of a new cmdrvs season to be a holiday. #TeamGreen
Jeremy try a Temur token build. I have so much fun with it. Justin Jund fun stuff with Grave pact would be fun for you
