Sid Meier's Pirates! is truly a classic but I sort of hated that it's basically borderline impossible to keep your crew happy long enough for them to stick with you for the long term. You have to constantly be making more gold and as time goes on it becomes harder and harder to keep making it, especially at the rate required to satisfy such a large crew.
Impossible? No, you just have to make a LOT of money. At 3000 gold per crew member happiness maxes out, and at 1000 they’ll never mutiny on you. And that’s really all you need.

You know what would be interesting? --> Watching the Spiffing Brit make a video about how he finds and executed these massive and absolutely ludicrous exploits. A substantial number of likes on this comment would hopefully make him make a video on it and everything would be perfectly balanced then. Also, as usual, absolutely loved this video!!
Hes talked about it on some of his old livestreams. You can watch his original pre release Cyberpunk livestream where he figures some out within an hour of playing the game
As someone has already pointed out he has spoken about it before in a few vids. Saying it's either from finding/getting tips from various forums or figuring it out himself using past knowledge and trial/error. He mentioned that a good starting point is to look for multipliers and how they're applied as if those are easily messed with things can go wrong very quickly. Also similar types of games or games by the same company often have similar bugs so if you know an exploit that works for one game it'll often work for another. I'm open to it but I don't know how interesting an entire video dedicated to him finding exploits would be. Searching forums, reading dms and trying/failing multiple times isn't exactly thrilling stuff and I imagine only a small percentage actually lead to anything. I'm sure he'd make it as interesting as possible but I think there's a reason the whole process isn't included in his usual videos.
Just remembered something, if anyone can back me up on this that'd be great. I'm pretty sure he mentioned something about releasing longer more detailed videos on how he finds the exploits on a different streaming platform, probably nebula/curiosity. I can't remember where I heard it but I'm pretty sure it's a thing that's happening at some point, sorry I couldn't be more helpful 🤷♀️
So one thing to further break the game while staying within the achievements is that if you make your character 0 and drop all of his stats to zero, then you can just stack good buffs either congenital or just for this character and you can have a op start
Further if you wanna do the easy norse kingdom setup using the above method it makes it so much easier, ive been able to do it as soon as he turns 18. From there you can jump start your dynasty even further and by sending your heir to be tutored by any member of the highest developed/most discovered fascinations. At the same time you can build up your piety. rather than reform the astaru faith and then another generation rename it when making a new verion you can change to a new religion with similar ferver fairly easily, and then its actually a lot cheaper to make a splinter group of that religion than most of the astaru changes.
Those couple of months travel time are actually quite realistic; at the site of Torksey, a winter camp of the great heathen army, archaeologists uncovered a big amount of Dirhams that were actually minted after the great heathen army arrived in England. This means that the time it took for those coins to travel from their mint in Asia Minor to England took months instead of years, which is quite crazy for the early medieval period!
24:00 Holy crap, Spiffing Brit is quite literally a DUKE of an actual island now. Does this mean he's no longer The Spiffing Brit and is now The Spiffing Sealander?
This is definitely one of my favourite starts, and it does facilitates a semi-North Korea Mode. The 7500 troops from the elevation achievement offsets the penalty a fair bit, and you can make plenty of gold through raiding, so the gold penalty isn't much of a hindrance either. Only issue is the loss of buildings, which in the late game does make your army a bit of a wet noodle, you need an absolute chad to lead them. Currently in control of all counties in England and Western France/Brittany/Aquitaine, pushing to take out Italy and the Pope (damn you and your crusades!)

There's an even more fantastic bug during character creation if you set any Skill to '69' it changes it from 'Excellent' to 'Nice' while scrolling up/down through the numbers!
Hearing you reference Sid Meiers' Pirates was an absolute treat, it is the best single player pirate game of all time
"Speed Child" absolutely killed me and a good amount of tea was wasted in the process... shame on you Speed Child!
A true Duke of Sealand needs holdings. Like land on the Moon or Mars.
Or a whole star
Sid Meier's Pirates! is truly a classic but I sort of hated that it's basically borderline impossible to keep your crew happy long enough for them to stick with you for the long term. You have to constantly be making more gold and as time goes on it becomes harder and harder to keep making it, especially at the rate required to satisfy such a large crew.
Impossible? No, you just have to make a LOT of money. At 3000 gold per crew member happiness maxes out, and at 1000 they’ll never mutiny on you. And that’s really all you need.
@@stephenskinner7207 I tried every way I knew how and I never was able to make that kind of money. Even supplementing it by finding some of the lost treasures and strategic saves. Never was able to do it.
When i played the game i managed to create a utopia, my empire was about to collapse by dozens of rebels but for some reason they just never rise, apparently i had so many high dev holdings thanks to my stewardship rulers and powerful vassals, making myself so strong that the ai couldn't ever be strong enough to actually rebel, except when i'm in war, so as long as i could pull out a blitzkrieg on everyone i attacked and then gave the land to a random dude for extra border gore everything was fine, i keep going with this and expanded like crazy and almost getting a world conquest on what was very likely my third game
0:32 haven't watched the video but seeing the isle of mann emblem on your last saved game I know exactly what's about to go down and how glorious it is
Duke Spiff presents: Skyrim meets HOI4 starring Reanu Keeves as Captain Jock Sparrow.
Obviously with copious amounts of Robust and Intellect.
I can't remember where I heard it but I'm pretty sure it's a thing that's happening at some point, sorry I couldn't be more helpful 🤷♀️
his level of fame is high enough, i'm sure people send him more exploits then he can use in one lifetime.
As a french, i feel that i cant be here. This accent is too perfectly British for me.
Well, Spiff made sure you're Manish now
@@melskunk im now a part of the pirate family.
Really should have named that character "Emperor" so you could have the "Emperor of Mann" raiding the countryside.
I love how the pirate plan/law is called P.R.I.C.K. XD
The best part is that that’s like basically historically accurate Vikings LoL
When you have you cup of Yorkshire tea gold BEFORE the video is up.
"What are you doing step-mom?" - Speed Chad, probably
Spiff perfectly balancing the algorithm by changing the title a year later.
"Just look into the man's eyes." Spiff, that's rude! The man only has one and he's proud of it!
Love coming back to this video😂...Still I always ask myself why you never plundered Canterbury
24:00 Holy crap, Spiffing Brit is quite literally a DUKE of an actual island now. Does this mean he's no longer The Spiffing Brit and is now The Spiffing Sealander?
Ngl with that music in the background that conclusion hit hard. It's like finishing a video game you really liked and you can't find anything like it.
It took me like 5 minutes to notice the reference in "Mega Man"
Why is it that every time I see you upload even when I’m in the worst of moods I go all fanboy and click on it immediately
Subliminal tea brain washing, that is my answer.
@@Couldnt_let_J.Marston_die that checks out
This is definitely one of my favourite starts, and it does facilitates a semi-North Korea Mode.
Should have just called him Captain Jockstrap.
Those Crusader Kings exploits videos are my favorite.
Pressing "F" hard for Jock Sparrow, the God among men.
“I one up the pope by stealing his hat, my son one upped me by stealing my wife.”
So now you one up your son by stealing his head.
Very fast.
Has one leg.
Uh...huh.
Spiff then demonstrates how Monoped is OP.
All hail Captain Jock Sparrow on The Lonely Island of Man!
Classic Spiff move, declaring war on France for no reason other than the lulz
I really liked this video you should do more Crusader Kings III
I was literally watching a spif video when the notification dropped
Why are my notifications not this fast
@Adam Taylor Medieval Dynasty is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits
