Yes, my Merc was built in much the same way as your Jeep was. Stock tyres and 618hp did okay, but I found it hard to get around sharper corners. I think you had the slightly better car, X-class is a bit too long to throw it around like the Jeep. Shoutout to Mackem and his array of various 'Puma's'
Great racing. Alex did bump your car a bit on the last race, but I don't think it was anything unsportsmanship, you both, as everyone in this channel, give us a thrilling and clean race. Here's to many more
@@MiguelBaptista1981 I think I hit him more that night than he did (though there's always that element of desync, I don't remember hitting him that much). I've only been playing Forza since Feb 2020, so I'm not as experienced as Alex is. I always make sure to apologise or let him through if I feel I did it too much or too hard.
Very Interesting to see. Properly rare to see a battle between two very similar power builds, it's often just a back and forth between a power car and a handling one, so offroad especially it's a cool concept to watch. The fact the jeep hit a tree and the Merc missed a checkpoint while both managing to stay half a bloody lap ahead is a testament to the insanity Alex and Still guns managed to cook up with their cars.
You had a race where the top two missed a checkpoint and hit a tree, then won with #1 a full 10 seconds ahead of #2 who was 10 more seconds ahead of #3. What a crazy gap.
Definitely one of my worse showings in one of these. The sandman was definitely the worst vehicle I've ever built for one of these adventures. I figured the 240 stock hp would be enough, so I chucked it on awd and offroad tires only to find out that it had a max speed of about 100mph offroad and not nearly the grip I was expecting (also stopping to about 10 on jump landing was fun). But, seeing that incredible lead battle, mixed with some glorious rolls from the FJ, and a shapeshifting Puma kept it a very enjoyable one despite my lack of pace!!
Jeez... this is a great example of how wildly broken Horizon 5's PI system is in some situations. If you took away the numbers you'd just guess the Jeep and Merc were a class above everything else in the field. Doesn't seem like this should even be a possibility with a field full of other competent drivers in decently built cars for something to be so insanely above the cut like that.
I've noticed if you just barely tap the brakes right before you go over a jump, you will land much better. It shifts the weight just enough to give you a short smoother landing.
Ah yes, also known as the adventure where i accidentallied into a jelly car and fell over 8 times loosing a podium spot in the process among other things.
That was a good battle with the Mercedes x-class. It looks like the truck is going to be a common pick in offroad adventures in FH5 like it was in FH4.
Yeah, C/C wants big, heavy bricks with a ton of power. Smaller lighter stuff does well in Rivals, but for online racing I'd want an offroader or a pickup or a baja truck, because heavy = stable = consistent.
Spanish pronunciation is pretty straightforward. Its not nearly as tricky as English, where you can have a bunch of sounds out of a letter or different letter combinations that make the same sound. The only things that aren't say what you see are double L, which makes a "y" sound (tor-tee-ya for tortilla) and the n with a ~ over it makes an n-y, like the middle bit in canyon. You had the name of that last race perfect on the second try, near as I could tell.
considering how far ahead the jeep and merc were, i'd be sorta interested in seeing what it would take to beat them. Would just building power in C class be enough? or would it have to be SUV's with huge tires? how much would giving smaller cars more PI help?
19:42 saved by the tree :) . And the 3rd gear upon landing, if you go into 4th just before the jump, by the time you land you need third. If you were in 4th at some good speed and and revs then jump, stay in 4th.
It's probably not an intentional homage to a game from an entirely different publisher but the huge "Baja" on the "Horizon Baja" banner is giving me flashbacks to playing Baja: Edge of Control on the XBox 360 (also on Playstation 3 and a remastered version came out on Steam a few years ago).
Your commentary is excellent. It makes me forget I'm not watching a real race. Your video on fastest hyper car sounded just like the Goodwood Hill Climb. Thanks for the entertainment!
On the urban cross country race where you hit the tree and the Merc missed the checkpoint I had an AI car pass me there, it went around those trees, around the checkpoint, drove through the buildings, and jumped the wall. It stayed ahead of me and wasn't penalized for missing the checkpoint. The computer will cheat to win if you set the difficulty high enough.
Still guns shouting turn you stupid car 🚗 sliding pass the checkpoint. Great racing from everyone fully enjoyed it. Big 👍👍👍👍👍 to the Jurassic Park beast
8:13 If FH5 has kept the vehicle performance profiles the same to what they were in FH4, the X-Class was actually an incredibly powerful, nimble and just a capable vehicle all around. Off-road it was OP af and with a decent tune it could beat great cars way above its class. You may have underestimated Merc's little race truck. One of my favorite cars in the whole game! 👍🏼
I think this vas some of your best racing in FH5 so far! :) Realy good fight betwen Still_Guns and you. Other cars wer just a decoration on the track (minus that one race). XD
Heavy landings are kind of random. A lower gear has a better chance of not absolutely screwing you over, but as far as I can see there is no sure fire way of avoiding it.
I’d like to see you actually build the vehicles sometimes at the start of these races tbh. I’ve just recently gotten into Forza and have been slowly figuring out the upgrade and Tuning mechanics
So at 1st I was confused when you were saying Merc when I realized you were talking about the Mercedes. In the U.S. where I am, when someone says Merc, we are talking about Mercury cars. So between the 2 countries I guess we use the short version differently on what type of cars. lol
I'm pretty sure Mercury never sold any cars into the UK, did they ever sell to anywhere outside of North America? On the flip side though, you got Euro Fords like the Sierra being sold to the US as the 'Merkur XR4i'.
man, I'm really into this kinda of race , i hope i could joining u guys 🙌 Btw where is Hunting & Hunted series for Forza horizon 5 , I've really enjoyed these videos back to Forza horizon 4👀
Its much easier to control cars in FH5 then FH4. Power builds are the only way to go for B and lower. A and up needs more balance between handling and power.
Grip builds are plenty powerful, but you have to be clever about it. One of my best cars in the game is a 90's Viper ACR that I put as many handling upgrades on as I could in A class. The Viper's natural speed with the grip to use it effectively is a powerful combo.
An all grip build is just as bad as an all power build. You have to balance it, and that balance depends on the cars stock performance. The Jeep and Merc are both already good handling cars on the dirt, so a power build was a good choice for them.
HP is a function of torque and RPM (this is why the HP overtakes torque at 5252 RPM on every dyno plot), racing is about HP because you spend all of your time up in the top of the rev range.

You know it's fun to watch you play this game, mostly because of the commentary, but i would never consider buying it. Driving on dirt looks like it's freshly built highway. Running into a river at 100MPH and slowing down to 96... That's far from enough, at that speed it should break something... At least slow you to 50MPH? Even more? If this was an NFS game, sure. But it's supposed to be a simulator
