2 cool ideas for "homogeneous" racing Crown Vic Demo Derby Races - B class Vics with everyone racing with destruction on, and do a 5 lap race trying not to damage your car too much, but damage other cars to slow them down. Chose one, or bunch of very similar cars, then give them a tight budget for them to build a car for. Ex - Miata built for A-class with a 40k budget
Thanks very much Alex for recording in 60fps, didn't expect to be seeing the very next video @ 60fps but man, you pulled through, looks so much better.
I gotta admit that i'm still trying to find the best way to build competent cars in FH5, at least when it comes to A class builds. In FH4 was never a problem but things in this game are certainly different for me
having less power with better handling looks to be a detriment in FH5. Alex keeps building sensible handling cars in FH5 & seems to be constantly losing with them
i've heard a lot of people playing this game for the first time saying something similar to "the cars have more grip" so maybe the balance just shifted a bit towards more HP? (edit: never played the game btw)
Depends on the track. Also it could be different if forza had qualifying runs. When you start from behind it is much easier to overtake on straights than in turns, so instead of being faster in turns and slower on straights high grip cars end up being just slower on straights cause in turn you go at the pace of powerbuild car in front of you. In clean conditions (rivals) high grip builds are more than viable on circuit tracks.
Tyres and AWD are a lot less impactful I find. If you keep the driveline stock and use a tier lower tyre than in say FH4, you can still go max weight reduction and other handling parts and end up with a very competitive tune. If anything, I find weight reduction very impactful in FH5, very much worth it
I've tried more online racing (was mostly in rivals before that) and I have an addition to the theory of why powerbuilds are online meta. Proper racing car (aka high grip one) needs proper racing attitude to show what it really can. That means you must remember the track in details, know how this particular car behaves on this track, know each bump and braking point. Racing line helps a little but it is not even close to be enough. Power build allows to be fast enough driving through corners just "somehow ok" in rally-like manner and gain what you lost on straight. It is not faster than what handling build used to its limit can. But for anything higher than B700, arguably A800 (in road race) it is very hard if possible to get close to that limit in online race. Add to it that road racing car riding on the edge of its grip on optimal line flys away after even light contact and you get the meta we have. Now I'm on to divide my A800 and S1 road park to rivals/racing cars. B 700 and below for road and up to A800 dirt feels ok as they are. For S1 dirt you have to adopt something absolutely NOT for dirt in real life to get enough downforce to utilise crasy power you can build on offroad tyres (my fav for now is Ariel Atom that fits S1 with them and AWD swap and feels surprisingly smooth on bumpy terrain).
You know, some people come to the comments section on Alex's videos and criticize his racing, but did you ever see Versappen racing with a cat on his steering wheel? I think NOT!
Well that is no surprise. Ha ha ha. Yeah, in one of the Daily Challenges for S2 Spring where you need to do a Horizon Tour with a GT Car, I decided to use the Bentley Continental for some dirt racing and funny enough the other players are all in Bentleys which let's just say it was a lot of fun. Tuned that Bentley to A Class and designed it for mixed surface racing. Completed two Seasonal Championships and done a Daily Challenge. I love using that car for some racing.
In my experience AWD swaps in FH5 (below S2 class) is just not worth it unless you have PI to spare; putting that little extra PI into performance is worth it. Basically the reworked physics make AWD (and aero) less of a must-have compared to FH4.
@@jwalster9412 I find 2wd cars much more responsive in FH5 than AWD ones. My personal go to setup for A class without any assists other than brake lines is rally tyres or semi slicks, no aero, RWD and instead focus on suspension and weight reduction to get handling up.
Swap to AWD often reduces car PI, sometime by 10 - 15 points (McLaren 570, Ford GT'17, Diablo GTR...) adding like 20 - 50 kg to the weight... So in many cases it is not just viable, it is OP and musthave for decent S1 build. Which upsets me as most AWD are just boring on road in Forza. But if it costs you some PI and talking about A-class road, I agree, no need.
@@Bendanielx thanks for the info. Don't think I'll ever try and get one exactly like Alex's even though it is cool, but something similar (with custom colours, orange specifically) would give me serious thought of purchase.
Nice to see you geting back to form. :) But yea that thing culd have used some more power. Maybe if you put it on rally tires you wuld have that litle extra to work vith.
I feel like more power and less skill/precision is usually a better choice in FH5. The handling seems to be close enough that higher powered builds can turn good enough that a more grip focused build cannot out perform it enough in turns to make up for the power disadvantage. It's also entirely possible im just a crap driver. It just seems I do better when I build or choose higher powered tunes rather than grip focused.
60fps is back! Yay!! 🥳 Thank you - I know Quality Mode looks pretty, is stable and the motion blur is high quality... but for such a fast paced game 30fps is too slow and UA-cam compression makes a meal of that motion blur.

I feel the same way about street furniture, I mean usually, if you keep the car on the race track, which you can have issues with you don't usually find street signs and light poles in the middle of the road, that isn't always true when the track includes a roundabout but in most other cases that isn't an issue. I will say when you go through the flags and take out a fence that has like 6 pallets right behind the fence that seems like a bad track, and we all watched that race not long ago, so yes in that case the street furniture was valid, but when you remove the branches from a tree I have to say the tree was in place LONG before you took out the branches.
