I love these fh5 videos while at the same time they drive me nuts. What I'd give to just occasionally get matched up with a track full of drivers who rely on brakes to stop rather than walls and opponent cars. I make a point to be playing Thursday mornings when the season changes because it's the only chance I've found to run the trial with people who mostly understand it's a team competition. Any other time and my blocking of AI for slower teammates is rewarded with a healthy shove into a wall or around a checkpoint. I hope everyone in your group appreciate how good you have it. Thanks for sharing. The in race commentary is the absolute best on UA-cam.
If you own the game (doesnt matter which platform) you can just join the discord and join in with the VSTC, if you dont get picked for the filming lobby theres community organised lobbies so you can just drive with everyone from the VSTC videos if you would like some clean racing. Its great fun.
I hate Trying to do the Trial because everyone in there seems to not Understand its a TEAM Race and they slam our Team off the Track because they want to be up front I've been in so many Races that someone will do that and the People they slam off will just stop their Car and wait there making us Lose and the Next Race they won't leave the Start Line
Front engined RWD was never going to be strong, but I chose with my heart over my head 😎 ...also the game DCed me and put me in the pause menu at the start of the 2nd race. Thanks for that lol
@metronomband Wasn't clown driving. Wasn't perfect by any stretch, but a build like that Golf doesn't capitalize much on corner speed, only exit speed. The lines he took were calculated for the most part, since pivoting the rear doesn't look easy.
I watch this with such jealousy and longing. In my mind I swear I’m using the the proper race lines and driving with the proper pace. Going from FM & FH4 having pretty solid runs (especially in FM ) to FH5 where I feel like a complete noob. It’s frustrating. The videos and the driving are amazing and competitive, great work.
@@flacjacket Over the course of every one of these adventures yes. I record all of the main crew and some of the guys that keep showing up (just in case they become frequent enough). Though only the main crew gets into the rankings for now.
Was between a rock and a hard place with my Audi. I couldn't find a way to fit the aero I wanted (could only get rear aero), so it understeered quite a bit. Not to mention, I simply didn't have the pace to match you or Starmannen's 911. Possibly down on power too, only had 475. The B-class car I ran that night had around the same amount.
You think maybe using the older model TT RS may have helped? I know that has the room for slicks in A-class (if you skip aero), so I'd imagine you could have gotten a good bit of power with the semi-slick restriction and maybe gone nuts and put bigger tires in the front than in the back to try and help with the understeer.
@@RealRaynedance Possibly, but I had the '18 TT already built so I thought I could modify it easily enough. Wasn't a great night in general, even my B class was generally outclassed.
@Still_guns, you’re one of my favorite semi-regular racers on these videos. It seems every time you’re in a race, you’re competitive and clean. Thanks for the entertainment
@@Samuelmtn I try to be cautious especially when racing with Alex. I'm actually quite aggressive, perhaps to a fault. I often stick my nose in where it won't fit. But when racing against Alex, I get clean. Sure I'll still fight and defend, but if I feel I've gone a bit too far, I'll back off and go again.
The plaza race was so intense!! I was on the edge of my seat!!! That was beautiful. Once the tires were warmed up on the last lap you were holding speed a lot more.
Business partner of my father once had a Golf like this IRL. Tuned beyond belief, he outdrove Porsches on the track, but the brakes were completely shot afterwards. So then he gave in and bought a Porsche himself.
Seemed like the golf needed at least 2-3 laps for the tires to warm up and then it got plenty of grip. Every race your lap times got better with every lap.
If you're trying to keep the brakes from being so touchy, try a 55% split with 90% pressure if you haven't already. Seems to work well enough for me, even in the higher classes. Should keep it so the front wheels still lock up first and you should be able to fully slam on the brakes in a straight line for at least a little while.
Jesus, I have abs on and drop my braking percentage to between 75 and 60%. I get to just stamp on them and not even worry about it lmfao. I’m basically playing with gran turismo braking at this point
@@zerabidotter1755 You also don't get to stop nearly as well as even 80%, and even that's noticeably worse than 90%. It's a lot harder than you'd think to lock them at 90% unless you're braking way too late into the corner to begin with to where plowing into a wall would probably be faster than braking. Also, you don't even lock up (in a straight line) until you're below something like 40 mph when the pressure is at 80%, so anything below that doesn't even need ABS.

He's probably trying to give his opponents some screen time. But then he needs to quickly look to the front or he'll crash! It's a bit jarring at times. I'm surprised that an arcade racing game lacks a constant rear view at the top of the screen. But FH5 is a flawed game in many ways.
Can someone explain the Forza aero? When I hear the name, I think that it’s suppose to make a car more aerodynamic, meaning more speed. So why does it give more grip instead and how can you tell that a vehicle has it? Thanks in advance!
Hey there :) so when they talk about Forza aero they mean the front splitter and rear wing you which can put on while modifying cars, most normal cars do not have it as standard. Both front splitters and rear wings (both can be could spoilers I guess too) increase down force which increases grip, mainly as the car goes faster, which effects top speed as the faster u go the higher the down force (the down force of these can be changed in the tune menu) I think what u might be getting confused with is - general car aerodynamics - which is more about a cars shape and how it cuts through the air, things which can improve the speed of a car . I hope that makes sense! Cheers 😊
I’d love to race with you guys. Sadly there’s a few reasons why I can’t. 1.) I suck at this game (all handicaps on and I still get mid-score if not lower) 2.) I have no idea how tuning works and I’m too scared to try 3.) I live in the middle of nowhere in the Midwest. Not the greatest internet, and it doesn’t help I don’t have an Ethernet cable.
With tuning, you can return to default by installing a different tier component ( race suspension vs. rally suspension, etc. ) then returning to the previous tier. Throw in a bunch of camber and see how it handles. Install super deep gearing. Easy enough to get everything back to default. Have fun
I can relate to being confused by tuning, but I think you could get better at driving by just practicing a lot. When I started on Forza Motorsport 2 almost a year ago, I was horrible at it and smashed into every possible wall, but over time I eventually got used to braking and shifting and stuff, and now I'm winning almost every race in Horizon 2! (I still use most of the assists though, and I'd probably be a lot worse against real people tbh) And that's with only being able to practice on the weekends, because that's when I go to my dad's house where my Xbox is. I also switched to the Forza Horizon series because I like how I can just drive around and explore instead of always racing like I did in the couple of Motorsport games I played, that made it easier for me to improve my skills. (It sounds like you're already playing Horizon 5 though)
Did you know: quite a few of the driving assists (tcs, automatic shifting, assisted braking) can actually slow you down? If you practice, and get used to driving without them, you will become much faster. I believe in you. You can improve your skill and become a fast driver. Just practice and learn.
@@theforestarcher9680 yeah I turned off the automatic braking a couple days ago because it made some of the "bucket list" things genuinely impossible to complete, and I'm actually racing better now too
