Mark Bagley, Steven Butler & John Romita Jr. are my definitive Spider-Man artists. No one post-Ditko/post-Romita Sr. can pencil the Web-Head as well as them. They made my early childhood and early teen years so special.

His art made Ultimate Spider-Man iconic. Him and Bendis is, in my opinion, the greatest artist-writer team ever. Absolute legend and he's my co-favorite Spidey artist, sharing that spot with Todd McFarlane

Mark Bagley is the best Spider-man artist ever. Too bad he changed the way he draws Spidey nowadays, maybe because of Ultimate Spider-man but he draws Spider-man a lot skinnier now and his head (the eyes) look different also... Still great but I prefer the way he drew Spidey as he did in the 90s comics.

less muscle, smaller eyes, and cartoony fist. Probably he was aiming to please the younger readers since the Disney ultimate Spider-Man cartoon was popular with kids this generation. You can also tell how much he toned down the darker vibe of venom compared to the 90’s. Bagley’s venom had sharper teeth and bigger/menacing eyes back in the 90’s.

That poor guy was asking about the Sensational suit when in reference to the Ben Reilly and Bagley thought they were talking about the Scarlet Spider lmao. Did... did he forget that awesome suit he designed? lol

@@notataco4203 yeah we know. I’m referring to the fact that the interviewer questioned him about the Ben Reilly suit he designed, and Bagley interpreted it to mean the Scarlet Spider suit, not Sensational Spider-Man. Everyone and their dead grandmother knows they’re the same character, but the suits are definitely not and have different designers. Bagley was the one that designed Ben Reilly’s Sensational Spider-Man costume

never liked his artwork, never will. He's no where comparable to John Romita, Ditko, or Ross Andru who did an incredible job with the run after Gil Kane. While I love Gil Kane, I never found him to be a good fit for the character because, like Bagley, they drew Spider-Man's head like a balloon when it came to anterior shots with the eyelets. Romita was THE best at making it looking like a man was under the hood, same with Andru. Kane was better suited to Daredevil where he excelled with the character, Green Lantern and Team books and positively one of the all time GREATS at doing attractive covers. Unlike today, where "artists" are only doing 'movie poster' style covers that looks the same with the same vignettes of headshots or "silly" covers making them look cutesy. This is due to a lack of creativity. And don't get me started the sexualizing of female characters. Really? Letch John Byrne started that crap with Fantastic Four and continued with She-Hulk.
