Not even at that moment should the character be considered perfect, but that character's story? Phenomenal. Beloved. -and all for being human.

Great Q&A. Todd is a love him or hate him kind of guy (I'm not a fan, for the record) but the man is one of the most successful people in comics and knows what he's talking about.
I only just started reading Superman comics for the first time. I can't believe this man just called him boring. He absolutely lets his emotions get the better of him sometimes. He's also pretty Naive.
yeah i rolled my eyes when he said that. superman is an alien trying to be a perfect human. its actually quite interesting when you use a little bit of imagination to understand him.
@@mortmortmort8908Superman is boring tho compared to other super heroes. People like Batman and Spider-Man are all relatable in some way (Batman being just a normal human being in a costume and Spider-Man being a teenager working a dead-end job to make things meet). They have to suffer through inner turmoils of losing their closest loved ones and it gives them actual sympathetic qualities. We can relate with Peter Parker because a lot of us go through what he goes through on a daily basis. Somebody like Superman is an alien basically born with superpowers and just steamrolls through his obstacles. He doesn’t really struggle with anything; he’s just always there to save the day at the last minute, get the glory and dip. There’s no emotional attachment with him

12:31 One of the most valuable classes I took in college was a Humanities course which taught how to analyze history through primary sources, and I recall Iron Man was a prominent component for looking at German-American and Japanese-American policy during WWII. Comics are literature, art, culture, commentary, expression… and I would be suspicious of anyone who tried to claim otherwise.

0:20 This answer is so true, in the context of comics, because they are such a visual medium. Unlike traditional literature, which relies on text and compelling narrative, the comic book is designed to portray a narrative or message through imagery. Some of the best comic books are able to convey a story without a single text box or speech bubble in any if their pages/panels! The art in the comic book really is everything.

This guy and Jim Lee shaped so many of us 90s kids childhood. Btw his McFarlane toys DC Mulitverse line is amazing
And you gotta put liefeld as the third
As a comic lover, I need more Q&A videos like this ❤
Todd is still one of the best creators out there.
His reinvigoratation of the Spawn line has been amazing.
It's got me collecting all the compendiums, off shoot trades, issues, and the floppies of King & Gunslinger.
I think the best time for a character to realize they've got "everything figured out" is their own, personal, end. Where they reflect on themselves and go "Yeah, that was a wild ride... -but I'd do it all over again anyway.".
Not even at that moment should the character be considered perfect, but that character's story? Phenomenal. Beloved. -and all for being human.
Just came here to give some appreciation to Todd. Not for the comics but for Kingdoms of Amalur. Underated.
Comics are 100 percent a Literary Art. In College I had to do a persuasive report by interviewing a Collector and his answers had to pursued a skeptical audience of the historical value of comics. I tell you what he made me an Easy A with all the passion and enthusiasm in his answers 😂.
Buying spawn number 1 ib the early days of Image comics was one of the coolest things of my life
I had no idea I was so young (1992, what?!?)
Everything you need to know about Todd McFarlane is encompassed in his answer about art vs story. He didn't say which was more important, he said which one he could sell easier.
I’ve always struggled reading prose because of my attention span, so I lose interest quickly. That’s why I always like comics because there’s pictures which makes it easier for me to follow the stories
Todd did a great job here of answering different questions to the ones he was asked. 😂
Wish ask him about tim vigil faust
Only the foot one was really off but I also wonder if that's due to the editing. Plus it's also basically a Rob Liefeld reference.
Great Q&A. Todd is a love him or hate him kind of guy (I'm not a fan, for the record) but the man is one of the most successful people in comics and knows what he's talking about.
I appreciate this guy for remembering his old works and what exactly he did. Most artists I like are very forgetful
I love Todd. Huge Huge fan. Humble Genius. Spawn and Venom forever.
I love Todd, he's always so chill and to the point. Hands down my favorite storyteller and artist too. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
I only just started reading Superman comics for the first time. I can't believe this man just called him boring. He absolutely lets his emotions get the better of him sometimes. He's also pretty Naive.
Especially in the tv series Smallville!
Love your profile pic. By they way!
Loved that Video game!
What's it called again?
@@MrParkerman6 Full Throttle! One of my all time favorites
also hes an alien and feels like he never belongs. hes quite complicated but hes a good person despite his hardships. ig tht seems to mean hes boring?
yeah i rolled my eyes when he said that. superman is an alien trying to be a perfect human. its actually quite interesting when you use a little bit of imagination to understand him.
There’s no emotional attachment with him
Legendary comic book artist. Get this man a documentary asap!
He is a legend. So happy to see him on these series.
Spawn is so interesting and complex
Todd McFarlane is a legend. He got me into comics and I applied his energy to book covers I worked on. He;s a ground breaker and an icon.
Two minutes in, and it’s already my favorite episode of this series
This man is an absolute legend. A complete visionary in his field. Man is on the level of Stan Lee.
A lot of admiration and respect for Todd, is amazing just how in his nuggets sizes answers how much he loves and knows about what he does. Love It
Todd McFarlane is a legend. He contributed so much to the comic book world. He deserves massive credits for that.
I love Todd!
ok
Kendal anche tu qui?
This man is still genuinely passionate about the medium you can tell. Inspiring
I love this series of videos. I always learn something new and discover fantastic people. I don't know a lot about comics but he really made this video interesting to watch. My son was heavy into comics for many years so I've spent my fair share of time in comic book stores to be sure but never really knew how the actual creating of them happened. 🙂
10:44 bro is spitting facts.
Cool to see his Wolverine/Hulk homage in Wolverine and Deadpool movie. How many people knew this was a famous comic cover? How many people knew it was Todd's!!? He's a legend. Underappreciated for sure.
That was 16 quick and interesting minutes. Thank you Todd!
That's what his wife says every night
Awesome video! I'm surprised Todd didn't cite Michael Golden as one of his influences, as he typically has in the past.
People don't even realize how LEGENDARY this man is
My Dads name is Todd Rayner & he’s ALSO a comic book artist 💙💚
Gotta respect Todd's decisive answers. You can tell why he's successful, he doesn't mess around - straight to the point.
11:49
spoiler for deadpool and wolverine
Amazing to see that they recreated this cover in live action
Love hearing Todd talk. I wish he’d start a podcast like Liefeld.
Such an inspiration. The amount of creativity and knowledge he shares is incredible.
Gotta love that passion, still burning after decades in the business. This isn’t a job for him, it’s his life and his love.
I love this guy, huge impact on me and comics of the 90s along with Jim Lee. Your still an inspiration to this day!! Legend!!!
I'm a Montreal Greek Canadian & I've been a massive Todd McFarlane fan all my life. I've never spent more money on comics & toys than I did on his stuff.
Todd is a legend & is worth every penny.
Merry Christmas to all & Happy New Year.
Love his childlike love of comics. I hope to be like him when I’m older.
Todd looks and sounds like Bob Odenkirk. I absolutely love him
i love this interview sm todd's explanation and answer to these question were so on point and precise
Todd McFarlane is the man! He’s such a talented artist and creator and even businessman. I hope this video reaches the millions of views status, cause this guy is so important to the comic industry!
