@@Inquisitor_Askeladdyeah but he literally just stood nearby while Sebastian had to use the Imperius curse, how can he even say what he says in that situation
It’s surprising how bad Solomon’s writing was. He abandoned his nephew for saving his sister’s life from being murdered and refused to see reason. You know what a good guy would’ve done? Connected with the nephew and explained why they’re wrong. But not Solomon, because he doesn’t care about his family.
His questline should be happy if he didn't use Imperio in front of his uncle. But I believe his other skills were currently in the cooldown so he used it 🤣
It's weird, Solomon would rather have his younger child die than be fine with a goblin committing suicide because it was murder-intending *regardless*. Sebastian is doing things out of a new meaning and intention, he wants to get help one way or another. I don't know the story, but I do know being treated poorly, so I can completely understand him and not even bother pitying Solomon.
If you think it through: Solomon screaming so much at Sebastian just because he was looking for cures for his sister, even though at first Sebastian wasnt leaning towards dark arts, he still god mad, the first introduction of Solomon is that Sebastian got a medicinal flower to his sister and Solomon said "STOP IT YOU WILL NEVER CURE HER " (and then burns the Flower in front of him), so yeah he was an asshole, even though he understood the moral beetween not using the curses and using them, he was too much of a dick to talk to Sebastian about it correctly. The Sister couldnt help cause she was in pain, we the players are tied by the writers dialog options, and Ominis lacks a lot of Backbone to speak up, but how could he anyways with how fucked up is his family in the first place?... In the end Sebastian was driven into a corner looking into a dark arts book, maybe the relic could´ve helped but it was also doing damage and sebastian wasnt looking at it as he was too focused on curing his sister´s curse. Even if said "Experts" said there was no cure, they coud´ve done a way better job, like looking for a good spirited goblin willing to help them as it was supposed to be some kind of Goblin Curse, or use Imperio on an evil Goblin and force it to speak about the curse. But there was literally no one on the right mind in the entire scenario, not even the MC as we werent able to do anything about it (for the sake of the Plot really).
Crucio seems weak here. In books Harry got few minutes of pain so agonizing, he couldn't even focus on anything, just laying and tremoring from pain, not to say instantly stand up, like a character here.
What’s funny is when Sebastian tells you he didn’t mean to kill Solomon, you realise that it’s a blatant lie since (as he has already previously stated) in order to cast an unforgivable curse, you need to want to do it. I understand it may have been in the heat of the moment though. Can’t say I blame him though. Solomon was a prick and at least Sebastian was trying to do something.
If they wanted to play a little fast and loose with the canon, this could have been really cool. While exploring the scriptorium, you find a reference to a counter curse for Avada kedavra. Salavar Slytherin found one during the height of his power. He realized the impact this would have both good and bad if it got out, and placed the knowledge in a relic and hid it. It turns out the relic you find in the quest is that same relic. When the relic is destroyed, so dies the only remaining knowledge counter curse for Avada kedavra, hence why it can't be countered in the books and movies.
The only known repository of that knowledge we know of, there may be more, or it could be regained - but it would be unimaginably difficult. ALSO. that relic looks a lot like a SITH HOLOCRON.
@@karlthorsten9118 Now that would be a fun crossover. Maybe some Force Users landed in the world of Harry Potter in ancients times and wizardkind is actually their descendants, so magic is just the force and wizards are the only ones that can use it because they are descended from the only Force Sensitives that landed on earth in ancient times.
I'm sure they intended Sebastian as a cautionary tale, but it ended up being one of justification. Crucio: No choice. Either someone casts it, or all three die. Imperio: Saved the life of his sister with it. AK: Ok, this one's harder to justify, but the situation is an adult ex-auror using lethal spells against two students, while Inferi are trying to claw their eyes out. They're both in serious danger, and their lives are threatened. He thinks nothing of using giant inferno columns against us. There's an element of self-defence in there, though Sebastian's certainly going for the nuclear option. However it may well have ended up one of us killing him with a fire blast, or some other spell not part of the big green three.
Ominis is quite literally the most redeemable of the 3 of us when it comes to dark magic. (Depending on how you decide to play as a character). And he used crucio under duress, the vast majority of people, I think, would understand that.

@@Nikotheleepic sorry but he goes the entire game up to that point using spells other than imperio and avada kedavra, and did fine. There was no actual need for him to mind control someone to off themselves in front of his sister. Disarm the goblin, knock it off its feet, suspend it in the air, i mean his uncle could probably see it himself by that point, he probably could’ve helped do something to distract the goblin long enough for Sebastian to grab his sister and run. And when his uncle tells the dude he’s taking it too far and tries to stop him, as any reasonable person of authority should do, the uncle gets outright murdered for his efforts. It’s the fact that it’s a kneejerk reaction to Sebastian’s problems that deeply concerns me.
@@deffdefying4803 what? does it make a difference if you kill the with a fire ball and cause pain with a horrible poison? would you be happier if he had repeatedly beat the uncle to submission instead
Theres something strange about a “friend” being able to successfully cast unforgiveable curses on his “friends.” I mean, how easy is it to truly, without reservation, want to cause torturous pain to a friend? The fact that the spell works is proof that his intention was clear.
I dont think so, in the books crucio causes minutes of torture here it is only a few seconds similar to when harry used it on bellatrix and she said he did t have the intention.
I feel like "meaning it" is really fickle. Sebastian "meant it" bc he wanted to get out, and that was the only way out. He normally wouldn't want to cause pain to us, but bc it was the only way out, he could. That's my interpretation anyway
The funniest part was that everything could've been perfectly fine, if people weren't such drama queens about it. "Oh no, you used mind control to kill a goblin and saved your sister, how could you?!" "Oh no, you're searching for the cure in the "naughty" books, how can you do such a thing?!" "Oh no, you literally ruined your life to save me, time to burn the book that might've cured me and waste my brother and uncle's sacrifice!" What the fuck is wrong with these people.
Well the thing is that everyone but Sebastian had accepted her fate at this point. Even Anne didn't want him to keep searching for a cure, she just wanted her brother to support her as she is now. Sebastians actions were entirely obsessive and against the wishes of literally everyone else, to the point he didn't recognize how much his uncle DID care by taking care of Anne.
See, Sebastian casting Imperio wasn’t even a bad thing, he made the goblin stop it’s attack. The real wrongdoing was making the goblin gut itself in front of his uncle and sister, that was the defining moment of that encounter. Although that really boils down to his hatred of goblins at this point since he still believes they’re the ones who cursed her. Despite him casting an unforgivable curse, it may have gone over slightly (maybe not with the uncle) better with Anne but it was what he made the goblin do under the control of the curse that crossed a line.
I think it also goes to show that Sebastian was indeed sinking too deep into the use of the Dark Arts. He can use literally a ton of other spells to stop the goblin, but his first instinct was to react with Imperio.
Some interesting fact about Imperio curse at 4:22 . The dwarft proceed to kill himself after Sebastian casted the Imperio spell. If you look up about Imperio, it says "The Imperius Curse forces the victim to obey the caster's commands", which is Sebastian himself commanded the dwarft to suicide...
The voices in this game being simply robotically pitched down or up is funny in some instances, annoying in most. The fact it's just tinny, and unpolished audio is the most annoying part. The deepest choices for both voices can be useful for a "Dark Arts" type character, but only if they're wearing a mask, as then it sounds as though they're corrupted under the mask and the mask is hiding it. Even then, since how "Heroic" our main character is in most dialogue, it still doesn't really work.

Or striking them with either lightning bolt, just obliterating someone to just ashes or even shrinking them to small enough size to squash them under your foot
There were a number of spells Sebastian could have used on the goblin. Even a petrification spell. I think he wanted to be proficient in the dark arts and use them for good though all it seemed to do was turn people against him. His heart was in the right place but he really was riding the line.
the pattern you need to move the cursor in in order to learn crucio resembles that of avada kedavra, with the lightning bolt shape, only crucio has an extra turn. almost as if it symbolizes that torture goes farther than death, or is worse than death.
I don’t think there’s any reason Seb should’ve resorted to using Imperio, he could’ve used another spell that isn’t an Unforgivable, like Arresto Momentum.
That spell only lasts so long, and it’s doubtful that they could all get out of danger before it wears off. And when it does wear off, you’ve still got to kill him, which yet again places them all in danger.
@@poplops1 It does wear off but it isn’t meant to hold the goblin in place for a long time, just to stop him from killing Anne. Freezing or stunning or levitating the goblin would all work to halt the attack, and killing or detaining him would be the next step.
Solomon cast blasting curses at Sebastian and the mc. He proactively hindered any attempt at even bringing COMFORT to Anne. When Sebastian, out of extreme desperation, turned his attention to dark stuff and went through hell, only to see all his attempts go in vain, he reacted naturally. Well, Solomon didn't deserve to die, but I sure blame him for most of what happened.
Honestly Solomon is very black and white about the dark spells. Life is never you should or should not do something it always depends on situation. That and their lighting each other on fire and smashing their enemies heads into the walls and ground. Avada kadavra seems a merciful quick death
Considering he is an ex-auror it's not that surprising, it was his job to hunt dark magic users.
@@Inquisitor_Askeladdyeah but he literally just stood nearby while Sebastian had to use the Imperius curse, how can he even say what he says in that situation

Amazing.

I love the dead silence after one successful avada kedabra, so eerie
His questline should be happy if he didn't use Imperio in front of his uncle.
But I believe his other skills were currently in the cooldown so he used it 🤣
my question is why not imperio the uncle sure its worse than torture but its better than murdering the fool
But the effect of Crucio isn't necessarily that the victim commits suicide though. Sebastian dropped his balls here.
13:26
"Stop, Sebastian. Hold on"
*Runs ahead of him*
Ominis: “if you cast Crucio then you’ll regret it forever!” Me: *Using it everytime in a battle and don’t regret it* 😂😅
It's weird, Solomon would rather have his younger child die than be fine with a goblin committing suicide because it was murder-intending *regardless*.

This would've been a very fun way for the story to go. Especially if Solomon came to realize what he did.
The only known repository of that knowledge we know of, there may be more, or it could be regained - but it would be unimaginably difficult.
ALSO. that relic looks a lot like a SITH HOLOCRON.
RIGHT?!
@@karlthorsten9118 Now that would be a fun crossover.
"I'm as guilty as the worst of my family". Yeaaaah, I wouldn't be so sure

@deffdefying4803 good job removing the context and just leaving actions, very not manipulative
Kinda scary when you think what he’ll do to the player who can possibly take away pain when he realizes that dark arts doesn’t cure curses…
@@deffdefying4803 what? does it make a difference if you kill the with a fire ball and cause pain with a horrible poison? would you be happier if he had repeatedly beat the uncle to submission instead
Theres something strange about a “friend” being able to successfully cast unforgiveable curses on his “friends.”
I mean, how easy is it to truly, without reservation, want to cause torturous pain to a friend? The fact that the spell works is proof that his intention was clear.
I dont think so, in the books crucio causes minutes of torture here it is only a few seconds similar to when harry used it on bellatrix and she said he did t have the intention.
I feel like "meaning it" is really fickle. Sebastian "meant it" bc he wanted to get out, and that was the only way out. He normally wouldn't want to cause pain to us, but bc it was the only way out, he could. That's my interpretation anyway
I’d take Sebastian Sallow and Ominis Gaunt over Draco and his posse any day thanks
Sebastian and Ominis seems like really good friends to have fun with. Minus the whole dark arts thing.
Same.
The funniest part was that everything could've been perfectly fine, if people weren't such drama queens about it.

"Oh no, you're searching for the cure in the "naughty" books, how can you do such a thing?!"
"Oh no, you literally ruined your life to save me, time to burn the book that might've cured me and waste my brother and uncle's sacrifice!"
What the fuck is wrong with these people.
Here is the comment I was looking for.

He didn't really have to cast Imperio. Could have used depulso, or expeliarmus. But Imperio was cooler
Or hell even use that spell Arresto Momentum on goblin instead

The voices in this game being simply robotically pitched down or up is funny in some instances, annoying in most.
The fact it's just tinny, and unpolished audio is the most annoying part.
The deepest choices for both voices can be useful for a "Dark Arts" type character, but only if they're wearing a mask, as then it sounds as though they're corrupted under the mask and the mask is hiding it. Even then, since how "Heroic" our main character is in most dialogue, it still doesn't really work.

When Sebastian, out of extreme desperation, turned his attention to dark stuff and went through hell, only to see all his attempts go in vain, he reacted naturally.
