It’s unbelievable how skilled Snape was. Deflecting McGonagal’s enraged attacks, knocking out the death eaters, taking their wands and fleeing in one fell swoop. Truly the supreme triple agent.
He didn't take their wands. In the movie, after snape ran away, you can see one still in the left guy's hand when Voldemort spoke through every student's head.
Great, but I think he shouldn't have added Albus as well. It's kinda long and a kid having two names is kinda weird. Snape deserved much more for Harry's son to be called like him.

"Then prove it! Control your emotions. Discipline your mind." I just love that scene... Snape provoking Harry and using his outburst to motivate him. You can really see he's just trying to teach him the way he knows best.
The werewolf scene. He doesn't just protect Harry. He tried to protect ALL of them. Even though Harry was his primary objective, he couldn't simply leave Hermione and Ron by themselves when Harry departed. He wasn't just a discpline and loyal man. He was truly a great professor and protector of students when it comes to life and death.

Snape really was the bravest man in the entire series, choosing hatred in the place of love, becoming a traitor instead of a hero. And yet even when everyone was against him he still died with a smile on his face knowing that his suffering for life has come to an end and also knowing that he did his job protecting Harry the boy of the woman he loved her entire life. Even in death.
He looked like the bad guy in the beginning but at the end of the series it was shown that he always had the intention to protect Harry no matter what.

Since Snape and Dumbledore were among the few that knew that Voldemort would return. Snape as an unknown double agent for the Phoenix Order, couldn't break character for even a moment.
Honestly the one that gets me the most is actually Harry’s first quidditch match. Just his face and how he was focusing so intensely on counter curses to save Harry’s life. It’s interesting because in a way, it was Snape vs Voldemort. Kind of poetic.
Snape was one of those characters I didn’t understand as a child. But now, that I’ve grown older, Snape is one character I respect with my heart and soul. He loved Lily with all his heart so he protected her son with all his strength.
I thought he was a bully and asshole as a child. Now that I'm grown up, he's a massive, massive abuser and the good he does is mostly due to an extremely unhealthy obsession with a woman, who never showed interest in him and married his childhood bully.

This makes me cry cos as a kid I hated him but growing up it’s like damn he really was there for Harry the entire time it just didn’t come off the way we think caring is. He showed him tough love.

I just how he was so mean to her, all time yet in moment, she held on him to for deal life. look in background she holds on to his arm like you would if your holding on to roller coaster bar from underneath.. Or how Snape, went for Hermione when she tried to run off, and not harry. Yet he used it to take out the real enemies behind him, then left without actually hurting any of the kids/good professors. If I didn't know any better, I'd think he'd made eye contact with her and it was planned. ;) For as much as they argued, I think they cared for each other, and (their students too) Harry in their own way. Sort of shared parental protection.
I knew something was wrong with my initial perception of Snape, when I first watched him protecting the kids with his life. Against a werewolf. Actions speak louder.

You really can see the hurt in Snape's eyes as Harry accuses him of usurping Dumbledore's place as Headmaster and killing Dumbledore in a a grave betrayal. I can imagine how much he hated being the Headmaster in the way he become so.
I always noticed how he shielded the children from Lupin as a werewolf. It always showed to me as a character who truly cared for them. He is one of the greatest characters ever written.
Knowing how much Snape loved Lilly and the fact that Sirius was the one they pinned for her death it makes much more sense how he reacted to seeing him watching it now than it did back then.
Snape always knew that Lily was killed by voldemort. Snape hated Lupin, Sirius and James because they were his Malfoy in the sense that they brutally bullied him. Actually, they bullied him on levels beyond what Malfoy was capable of.

I love how everyone notices him defecting the spells to the still distracted death eaters but don't see him deflecting the initial spells directly down while he is still in between the students and only deflecting to the death eater when it's absolutely positive no student will be hit.
The way he looks at the doe patronus with such emotion, sorrow, wonder, undying love and longing ugh *chefs kiss* they dont make actors like that amymore
What makes this even sadder, Snape was the closest thing to a father figure to Harry. He wasn’t allowed to get to close to him, be honest with him. He could only watch from a distance. But in the end, Snape did love Harry, not just because he’s the child of the woman he loved, but because of Harry’s nature.
The thing Dumbledore said to Snape was what truly solidified to me what a real hero is "i'll never reveal the best of you" The silent and haunting prison of love that Snape chose to live in. Bars made out of the hate of others. Guarded by friends and enemies. His only release from the prison was a self-induced death sentence. What a character....
Except the reason Snape made Dumbledore promise was that he hates James Potter so much he couldn’t bear the thought of anyone knowing he was protecting the man’s son. It’s actually quite petty and sad, not heroic.

It showed that even though harry was just like his dad deep inside he was like his mother lily whom who snape loved dearly very much.
To be honest, eventhough Hermoine sumtimes misunderstood Snape, she is the one who can read snapes indirect motives and strategies. She is the only one from the trio who never assumed the worst of him.
What about the scene where he was trying to save Harry from Professor Qurell's jinx during Quidditch. Hermione was the one who assumed Snape was trying to hurt Harry because she didn't know what he was doing.

I have to agree with this. Hermione trusted Dumbledore, who trusted Snape and that was enough for her to keep a level head about things not being exactly what they seem to be.
I remember 9/11 doing that when Woody nearly attacked me and united 93 came charging at him. I loved how United 93 screamed at Woody as the movie attacks him because United 93 knows that Woody was turning me into one of those terrorists but the movie wasn’t having it.
That should be the bare minimum for ANY teacher, let alone a powerful wizard. Not literally feeding kids to werewolfs isn't an excuse to keep being a bully and abuser.
She's no push over, but it would have been very dangerous had Snape fought seriously and Mcganagall responding in kind. (specially to their surroundings)
Oh. I never noticed before, but Snape flinches when Harry looks him directly in the eye while he's attempting to teach him how to 'discipline his mind'. He was seeing Lily. Then brought up James to hide how much Harry reminded him of HER and not James. His words rarely add up to his actions. His words say 'You are just like your father', but his actions say that he loves Lily and can't help but protect the boy that would have been his, had they not lost each other. Harry really doesn't have many adults he can trust. While Snape may not always be kind, he has always protected Harry, as one would imagine that Lily would have if she had lived. There is no one else who could have played the part. Alan Rickman brings the character to life and gives his whole heart into the role. I wish I could have met him in person, he truly is one of the greats. A shining beacon that perhaps can help others to learn how to be good, not just to others, but also themselves too. Never forget. Always remember. Always.
Don't forget too, he's still very upset when he sees James dead before Lily, seeing that James tried to protect them all. He didn't truly hate James Potter just hated the fact Lily didn't love him back
Watching these scenes now and knowing what I know now, you can see the little bits of emotion that Snape lets through his mask, especially when he is trying to teach Occlumency to Harry the only way he knows how. They're only there for a moment, but they're still there. Truly amazing acting by Alan Rickman. RIP to a legend.
More than dumbledore who harry admired the most , severus snape cared about the boy and protected him whenever he could without caring that he would be called a villain . not only harry but he protected everybody from being harmed , if around him . died himself knowing elder wand was loyal to draco and not him . became villain by killing dumbledoor . when prof mcgonall attacked him , he never fought back , just defended . he was easily most powerfull wizard after voldermort and dumbledore , maybe even equal or better , but never showed that .
It was such a clash of Dumbldore’s character. Like, the Dumbledore in the first 2 movies I felt like would NEVER say or do anything like that. But this new actor kinda put a bit of a more hardcore edge on Dumbledore. Apparently in the books, he was a mix of both

Dumbledore gifts Harry the resurrection stone and when harry dies dumbledore explains he had to die so the connection could be broken and when he’s resdurected Voldemort won’t be there. They both cared equally and both treated him like a son one showed compassion as a mother would and the other showed tough love just as a father would so in the end harry got somewhat of a family.

You know I always equated Snape’s fury when he confronts Sirius and Lupin in the shack to him not getting over being bullied… but now knowing everything about him and looking back, it wasn’t anger… he was filled with the biggest bloodlust because as far as he knew, the man who killed Lily and caused him to suffer was standing before him. “Revenge is sweet”

it is totally respectful that Snape has totally responsibility to being a teacher and an ally of Dumbledore and Harry. He just REALLY unhappy with the time bullied by James and reflected it to Harry, despite of this he still keep his duty over his personal grudge.

I remember reading the books almost 20 years ago (before book 7 came out), and in every book there would be someone who said to Harry, "You have your mother's eyes." I always knew it would become very significant to the plot before the end, except that I was guessing that it would be magical in nature (like superpowers or something lol). I never expected that its significance was about the strongest force of all: LOVE, specifically Snape's undying love for Lily. 💔😭
I never realized until now that Snape was protecting Harry the entire time. He's always been one of my top favorite characters, but watching these clips makes me like the character even more. Tough love is what I say!
Snape is a good example of a well written character. I always thought Johanne wrote Lily based on herself and Snape might have been a real boy she knew before.

Yeah, even if he's just following Dumbledor's plan, he cares for Harry because he's at least the remaining reminder of Lily's existence (although he hates James).
As a kid growing up with the series, I never liked Snape until Prisoner of Azkaban when he protected them. Only then did I notice what he was doing, to me it wasn't until Deadly Hallows did I realize the real true intention. Heck he's now one of my favorites from the series.
You know the dueling club actually has another moment if you think about it, when Ron gets called up Snape immediately shoots down the idea, saying that because of his broken wand he could seriously injure Harry with an out of control spell. Arguably throwing Malfoy in kept him safe too since he had direct authority over him and Slytherin as a whole.
Snape stopped voldy from reading his mind and hid his true intentions from one of most talented and evil wizards of all time. He was nearly on the level of Grindlewald, Dumbledore and Tom(human form) himself.
This made me cringed, Snape only protect Harry for one reason and ONE reason only, and that is Lily Evans, He loved her but his son since he is also a symbolic that Lily abandoned him for a person who bullies him

Allan knowing the full story, makes his INCREDIBLE acting chops even better. You can FEEL the rage he has at anyone he thinks lead to her death And also, he is so fed up with Harry, but i personally feel when he looks into his eyes...he sees her..and while everything else reminds him if James....the eyes show the soul.. and Snape almost resents Harry for it. He loves her so much he does anything for Harry I love the "GIVE ME A REASON " even tho he has the wrong man, he would GLADDLY torture and watch the torture of the man who betrayed her. I almost wish Harry went to Snape for help with things. I think we would have seen a different side. Of him The look he has when Harry calls out Snape. It is SO PAINED. I think he did for a moment lose himself. And then realized what was happning. "After everything I did for you.... for her .. " In this FINAL seconds..he let the hate for James go...and saw her. And her child. Snape wasn't a good man....but he chose to not be a bad one. And when it came to it. He was definitely not a better man than James. They were both great man. But James never joined the dark side and in fact protected Snape when Sirius played a bad joke on him that would have killed him
Snape was an adult who became a Death Eater and only changed sides when Lily died, without forgetting that Book Snape was unfairly abusive to Harry and Neville when they didn't deserve it. Snape was a much messier and grayer adult than the adult James Potter. The ideal is not to whitewash his bad actions but to recognize the mistakes he made as part of the beautifully imperfect and gray character that he is.
Can't be equated. Youth James was definitely way worse than Youth Severus. Adult Severus is worse than Adult James because James died lmao. By that point James is a worse guardian than Severus. James may have saved Severus from death - but he and Sirius still enjoyed humiliating Severus very much. Severus' was in a position of death or living hell. If Severus died young, he may not have been a Death Eater and pointed Cringemort to Lily. Then again he'd shortly be joined by The Marauders - Remus Lupin will be sent to Azkaban for being a werewolf who killed a student; the three would be sent there for being Illegal Animagi. Potter may have an out due to his parents and their money, but the other two wouldn't be so lucky... Dumbledore may also get sacked for enrolling, hiding and harboring a werewolf who then jilled someone and for allowing Illegal Animagi and Death Eater sympathizers to roam freely in Hogwarts.

Snape, the only man who suffered enough to care enough, and support Harry is silent, but always there, always causing Harry to keep him out of trouble, can't do more problems if you're at detencion, and in the end, seeing the great sacrifice harry had to do, he simply had enough. The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.
And notice when he lands on the ground a couple times before he leaves, Snape is actually grabbing the wands off of the Death Eaters in case they wake up and try to attack the students.

Snape was one of those characters I didn’t understand as a child. But now, that I’ve grown older, Snape is one character I respect with my heart and soul. He loved Lily with all his heart so he protected her son with all his strength.
I thought he was a bully and asshole as a child.
Now that I'm grown up, he's a massive, massive abuser and the good he does is mostly due to an extremely unhealthy obsession with a woman, who never showed interest in him and married his childhood bully.

Yet he used it to take out the real enemies behind him, then left without actually hurting any of the kids/good professors. You really can see the hurt in Snape's eyes as Harry accuses him of usurping Dumbledore's place as Headmaster and killing Dumbledore in a a grave betrayal. I can imagine how much he hated being the Headmaster in the way he become so.
I always noticed how he shielded the children from Lupin as a werewolf. It always showed to me as a character who truly cared for them.
He is one of the greatest characters ever written.
Knowing how much Snape loved Lilly and the fact that Sirius was the one they pinned for her death it makes much more sense how he reacted to seeing him watching it now than it did back then.
Snape always knew that Lily was killed by voldemort. Snape hated Lupin, Sirius and James because they were his Malfoy in the sense that they brutally bullied him. Actually, they bullied him on levels beyond what Malfoy was capable of.

I love how everyone notices him defecting the spells to the still distracted death eaters but don't see him deflecting the initial spells directly down while he is still in between the students and only deflecting to the death eater when it's absolutely positive no student will be hit.

Oh. I never noticed before, but Snape flinches when Harry looks him directly in the eye while he's attempting to teach him how to 'discipline his mind'. He was seeing Lily. Then brought up James to hide how much Harry reminded him of HER and not James. His words rarely add up to his actions. His words say 'You are just like your father', but his actions say that he loves Lily and can't help but protect the boy that would have been his, had they not lost each other. Harry really doesn't have many adults he can trust. While Snape may not always be kind, he has always protected Harry, as one would imagine that Lily would have if she had lived.
There is no one else who could have played the part. Alan Rickman brings the character to life and gives his whole heart into the role. I wish I could have met him in person, he truly is one of the greats. A shining beacon that perhaps can help others to learn how to be good, not just to others, but also themselves too. Never forget. Always remember.

Watching these scenes now and knowing what I know now, you can see the little bits of emotion that Snape lets through his mask, especially when he is trying to teach Occlumency to Harry the only way he knows how. They're only there for a moment, but they're still there. Truly amazing acting by Alan Rickman. RIP to a legend.

It was such a clash of Dumbldore’s character. Like, the Dumbledore in the first 2 movies I felt like would NEVER say or do anything like that. But this new actor kinda put a bit of a more hardcore edge on Dumbledore. Apparently in the books, he was a mix of both

Dumbledore gifts Harry the resurrection stone and when harry dies dumbledore explains he had to die so the connection could be broken and when he’s resdurected Voldemort won’t be there. They both cared equally and both treated him like a son one showed compassion as a mother would and the other showed tough love just as a father would so in the end harry got somewhat of a family.

I remember reading the books almost 20 years ago (before book 7 came out), and in every book there would be someone who said to Harry, "You have your mother's eyes." I always knew it would become very significant to the plot before the end, except that I was guessing that it would be magical in nature (like superpowers or something lol). I never expected that its significance was about the strongest force of all: LOVE, specifically Snape's undying love for Lily. 💔😭

Snape was an adult who became a Death Eater and only changed sides when Lily died, without forgetting that Book Snape was unfairly abusive to Harry and Neville when they didn't deserve it. Snape was a much messier and grayer adult than the adult James Potter. The ideal is not to whitewash his bad actions but to recognize the mistakes he made as part of the beautifully imperfect and gray character that he is.

Snape, the only man who suffered enough to care enough, and support Harry is silent, but always there, always causing Harry to keep him out of trouble, can't do more problems if you're at detencion, and in the end, seeing the great sacrifice harry had to do, he simply had enough. Sad he never saw what he helped raise. Protecting from the other side, even beyond death.

if u pay atention when snape scapes (in black shadow shape), u can see him going to the corpes of both death eaters before scapes. people says he has catching their wands, in case they wake up

I don’t think you can get any cooler or more badass than Snape.
The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.
Snape sacrificed his entire life, literally, for Harry and others. He’s an angel.
