This is a big problem and a big mistake. Me, as a medical doctor, do my best to belittle and insult the conspiracy theorists to make them feel bad and embarrassed, especially the antivaxxers I deal with on a daily basis. It's far more effective than having discussions with them. There's NOTHING TO DISCUSS with these people, they are objectively 100% wrong and too uneducated and unintelligent to be able to realize it. Reasoning doesn't work with them, presenting them with facts doesn't work either because they don't understand those facts. Insulting them and making them feel bad is the only way to make them realize they're wrong. Having these respectful one to one discussions pretending we're on the same level are what boosts their confidence and makes them feel like they're capable of having arguments with far more educated people.

The most charitable interpretation of this statement I can think of is "show me the graviton particle." Cuz they were talking about assumptions in science, gravity is one of the four fundamental forces. The three other forces' particles have been discovered. The "assumption" she might be talking about is the existence of this graviton particle. The idea could be that, because scientists have found the other particles that mostly align with these force, the "assumption" is that the graviton particle MUST exist. But idk, I highly doubt she's gone that deep into understanding physics.

I have a 1st hand experience with this my mother was a flat earther "she says she doesn't believe it anymore" but my theory on people believing this or any big conspiracy that is obviously not true I think it all comes from them wanting to feel special/significant for two reasons 1. It would irrefutably prove a creator and even the afterlife so again comes from not wanting to feel like they don't matter like they have a purpose and they were put here for a reason I love my mom "she was very introverted and sat inside watching UA-cam and these kinds of conspiracy theories were like the most exciting things/form of entertainment I attempted to argue with her on this topic multiple times but as they say in the video these kinds of people have the conclusion already and look for things that support it they don't like things that counter it

My favorite part about flat earthers or any conspiracy theorist in general is how they think they are so much smarter than everyone. They think they have cracked the code when in reality they have just fallen for ez internet bait.

that's why the scientists should spend more time getting the flat earthers to talk more about their "model" if only from their amusement. simple things like where the sun goes at night, and why you can call someone in Japan and they will tell you it is night during your day.

@@eniszita7353 they have explanations for all of that. of course there explanations make no actual sense and is based on cherry picking scientific theory to back there idea lol. the funny part is they accept any scientific theory as factual only when it backs there belief but disregard and use the theory as a negative on anything that proves them completely wrong.

Fun fact: Earth isn't a sphere, it's an oblate spheroid. Meaning it flattens at the poles and widens out at the equator. This is because of the centrifugal force of earth's rotation

I feel like the lady's husband's death played a role in reshaping her views. She talked about how his doubts about the moon landing were crazy to her at first, and only after his death did she go down that rabbit hole. This may be her way of coping or grieving her husband.

I'd like to add to 6:10 that many (ancient) flat-earthers believed that the sky was actually a black dome or canvas, with heaven behind it. According to them, the stars were just holes in the dome. This is also where the mythological idea of "the sky falling down" comes from.

Correction: not all religious scriptures refer to the Earth as a "circle" or something that is flat. In fact, the Quran talks about the orbit of the planets and how they're spheres (such as 39:5, 21:33, etc..). This woman is absolutely absurd.
