Ironically, Melissa should be the most pro-vaccine person. If it is true that her daughter reacts negatively to vaccines, then fair enough, she falls into the category that are medically exempt from taking them. BUT THAT'S WHY HERD IMMUNITY IS A THING. People seem to forget that some people are allergic to vaccines, and that's OK, it is very rare. Influencing others not to take vaccines is literally the worst thing she can do for her daughter.

Covid vaccins being different from traditional vaccins doesn't make the whole covid vaccin stuff easier at the moment. My brother was diagnosed with epilepsy and it dragged my whole family to hell and back trying to get treatments and medicine for him as my family was in poverty and we couldn’t afford surgeries but we saved up the money to get him a surgery where they removed a piece of his brain and the seizures went away for a couple of years until he was 14 they came back but he was on meds and we’re no longer short for money. Since I was really little and didn’t really understand what was happening I always thought my parents liked my brother more so I felt pretty left out until I got older and realized what was happening. Everything’s been pretty good lately but man, it was tough.

Its not that hard to know more than the average doctor on immunology. Medical school covers pretty much just introductory immunology (~1-2 semesters worth) unless they specialize in it, an average autodidact could surpass them within about a year of self-study

Often what people are looking for isn't research, it's to reinforce their beliefs, so they go to sources that appeal to them and are biased, i guarantee you that if they actually did "research" it would take them actually going to a non biased and reliable study that includes fucking quantum mechanics and physics or some shit, people won't have time for that and won't understand anything, so they are looking for a simple answer, while the answer is actually way more complicated than black and white.
Some people say psychological illnesses aren't real, but they never bother to actually look for an answer, they absolutely believe in their own delusion and argue other people with their delusions despite having zero sources other than their own brain which is like sub zero IQ

Regardless of the scientific topic, I love when professionals thoroughly formulate hypothesis and test them extensively, do trials and experiments, gather all this data and have it peer reviewed and tested by other professionals all who have tons of education in their field and then some mouth breather like this lady starts spouting off about “well I’ve done my own research extensively.. so…” No the fuck you have not, scouring google and Facebook is not “research” these topics aren’t a high school book report and people like her don’t have any frame of reference or education to back their opinion nor do they even compare data and info they have confirmation bias and accept whatever fits their narrative. It’s so cringe to think we are more aware of these topics then people who have dedicated their lives to it and are formally educated.

"Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions.", it might be more effective or less effective, but it's still a research, stop giving terms "true" or "right" label just cuz you you like your own definition more. You most likely saw multiple situations where people that have been doing shit for bazillion years did it much less effective than people that did it for much less period of time. U can be a person every decision of which was the most inefficient in the world, but it doesn't make everything you say - bullshit, it's just make the odds of having effective answer statistically lower, for example, compare to the dude who had 99% of the most effective answers amongst the entire population. If you don't have enough knowledge to figure out the most effective opinion between these two people, most likely it would be smarter to go with the person with higher success rate, but, as I said, it doesn't make the person with highest odds right and with lowest - wrong. Also you gotta understand, that you don't need to do shit ton of work, if it's already done by someone else, therefore you can use their knowledge and save yourself some time. People that you call "professionals" are same species as you, and what makes them professionals is basically the fact that they getting paid for their activity but it's whatever. What makes them smarter - knowledge, and you can get it yourself, they are not some sort of creatures beyond human understanding, stop acting like it's impossible to understand what they are doing, and stop acting like it's impossible for them to have less effective opinion.

The probability of catching any of the diseases we are vaccinated from is as close to zero as you can get. Taking a vaccine has nothing to do with the child's health, but everything to do with broader societal containment. On an individual level, there are very limited risk benefits to vaccines of mostly "dead" diseases. Covid also has zero risk to a young child

At the end of the day vaccines are proven to have more benefits than risks, but I think mandating vaccines could spark riots and outrage (for mostly good reasons).

I feel that for some people who are anti vax are not really anti vax. Some are more cautious of a vaccine being brand new and not knowing the side effects.

The only vaccine I had as a kid was polio. I had measles German-measles chicken pox the mumps and whooping cough. They would completely shut classes down when anyone contracted any of those. The problem was that many of the childhood diseases have very bad complications. Kids and families don’t have to go thru all that because we now have vaccines. I just don’t get it.
Some diseases are more dangerous than others and some vaccines are more dangerous than others
From what I've seen, the only controversy with vaccines is if the client/party already has a strong or already immune protection against such virus due to previous exposure, age, health, etc. On the other hand, there really shouldn't be any arguments with vaccines for very harmful diseases like smallpox, iron lung, etc.
My aunt died from autoimmune disease after getting Pfizer booster shot. She had Crohn but doctors forced it... Amara...

@Christopher S science doesn't claim its words as factual and absolute. Most competent scientists know discovery and learning is a constant development, and know errors are inevitable along that path.
Edit: I will agree it is viewed by many as being absolute. And yes, corruption exists, but really only in extremities on the ends of the spectrum. I will say that the frequency of these extremities is increasing, so corruption is growing in this industry, but not enough for it to he viewed as dangerous in a common way. (And it is beginning to be viewed in such for many today, which is also dangerous. Anti vaxx movements and such.)

@Christopher S Science will never get to a point of objective truth, nor will anything or your facebook friend, we are apes, not universe creators, we don't understand why we are here and how, all we can do is get closer to truth as much as possible, and evolve the studies from there, scientists usually publish studies that gets accurate the more time goes, the science is corrected by science, science is not an organization, it's a study of field.

The biggest take is that people who don't deal with numbers and statistics don't grasp them enough to fully understand risk vs benefit, I feel like giving an average person STATS when they don't understand them just makes them afraid and distrustful, justifiably so.
Actually if everyone were showed the stats of how many people were infected versus how many people died, they would see that it's like a 99.999% survival rate, and the government is just using this as a gambit for more power and control, which you insects don't even notice.

Vaccines are an amazing technology that has saved millions of lives. And most of the people should get them. But there are also people with pre existing conditions that should make their own risk-benefit analysis and see if its worth it for them to take a vaccine. I don't think its appropriate for others to tell me or anyone else weather you should or shouldn't take it. Its up to the individual to decide and I don't think other people or governments should decide and force others to take vaccines.
i don't think people should make their own risk-benefit analysis, they should talk to a medical professional about it and have them help. but yeah you have your own rights you should be able to do whatever you want, but that doesn't mean you should be able to go wherever you want whenever you want, because then you're putting other people at risk of getting the disease
